"Can I use my Tasukeru to see undead?" Harue asks and it leads to some in depth pondering. They were life but not life, dead but undead. Surely, the Tasukeru would view them all the same, but perhaps differently, and at least reveal to her that they were around. It all boiled down to, well when would you ever use this anyways? Apparently, Circe stressed, the answer was more than you'd think.

But alas, they continued on with their reading instead of stressing too much about it, and they instead read about where certain types of undead tend to flock. Some undead of the same species, like hags, liked to live private lifes outside of their own community types.

But, there were types like ghouls and other types, that liked to move in hordes. For some groups, this neither impeded or improved their strengths, but for others it was a daunting line to cross. For example, the more zombies surrounding you, the less likely you are to make it out alive. But, the more demon baby spawn that surrounded you, the more likely they were to end up harming each other.

Harue can't exactly say it's surreal or anything to find out all this actually exists. After all, she'd already known souls were a thing, and it wasn't hard to draw a line from that to spirits to undead, or even after life. It felt serendipitous in some wack way.

The pinkette even got to reading about more than just the lore and the creatures, but the cryptology as well. Literal crypts, because it goes into discussion of where the dead lie and what types of tombs and catacombs mean what for whatever lies inside. It was useful knowledge for Harue to absorb... if she ever planned on going grave hunting. Not that that was completely out of the way of her usual tasks, anyways.

Even still, she was curious about whatever else the book offered her. By now, Circe wasn't even really explaining - so far, this was Harue's best subject to dabble in. Circe does read with her however, and from time to time Harue does ask for some clarifications to be made.

Lastly, Circe tells Harue about how she herself can see a the spectre undead, and ghosts and the invisible entities of this world were all prone to Circe's eyes. But just because the pinkette knows about ghosts now doesn't mean she'll automatically be able to see them, and that just leads them back to the most daring subject. Could the Tasukeru, seer of life, see the opposite of life?

Or was undead still life in some way? It was more of a philosophical conversation than it was a helpful one, and could honestly lead them to an argument if they let it. Instead, Harue skims back through the undead lore book one more time, just to be sure.

The rest of the day was Harue's to do with, and she figured she'd been pretty lacking in her physical strengths lately. She takes to the small training room gym in her house, marked only by her katana, and faces off against a dummy. It had been admittedly some time since she danced with a sword, and honestly she wasn't sure that she would much often in the future.

But it was a good skill to have, and first and foremost she wanted to be akin with it, so that she may not forget the ways of it again some day. She faces off against the dummy as she would a deadly opponent. She can never spare too much time drawing her blade, especially if she plans to use it as a back up - a 'break out in case of emergency' type of skill. A quick or slow draw could determine the weight of an impending battle, and Harue didn't intend on letting that stop her any time soon. 

It wasn't a hard concept; draw and strike in one fell swoop. Piecing together drawing, and swinging, and striking. That wasn't hard at all in reality. Harue demonstrated this to herself by assuming a noname stance, arm across her waist as she curls her fingers around the blade's hilt. She executes it swiftly, and uses the momentum of her draw to aide the slash she places across the dummy's torso.

Harue had spent more than enough time with her blade to know its strengths inside and out, however previously that had been. Life seemed to be moving fast and a half a year ago felt like a century old now. But the katana didn't feel foreign in her grip in the slightest. In fact, it felt like slipping on an old glove. Different but the same, in the way you wear it or feel about it. Honestly, Harue didn't know how to feel about her blade right then.

She was precise with her movements as she attacked the dummy to try and recollect some old familiarity with striking with it. In all honesty, she had never really used it much in actual combat. Here and there of course, and defensively she'd used it more. But the times she'd used it to deliver a fatal blow? Well under zero. But still, that didn't mean she wouldn't some day need to use her sword. And she needed to host a specific expertise with it.

She thinks that she'd be most likely to use it defensively more often than not, but regardless she wanted to improve her strike foremost. She attacks the dummy still as though it is an enemy who panders to the death of her, so she's also agile in an attempt to avoid imagined counterattacks. She's not particularly fancy with the blade either, but this doesn't deter her from continuing to slice up her dummy. She'd have to replace it sooner than later.

Continuing on with her theme of the day, Harue wants to become one with her blade. She doesn't let up in her combination of attacks, relentlessly shaving away at her dummy so that she may become most accustomed to the weight of it in her hand. It was all sort of like relearning the ways, but she knew that slowly but surely she was making progress with her blade.

Only fifteen minutes into her training session and the dummy already looks like nothing that it had before. Its torn fabric flesh was barely hanging together by a thread, pools of stuffing brimming over. It looks stuffed full in some areas, and completely devoid of all filling in others. She takes a moment to step back and match the edge of her blade and the slashes in the dummy.

She was confident in the work she'd done so far, but she wanted to cut this down to the bone. Its bone being the post it stands on, but all the same, she continued. She hacked with her sword until she felt solidity under it, until the blade is swung so hard that it pinches in the wood frame of the dummy and she has to pull with all her strength to free it.

Even though she successfully cut the dummy down to literally nothing, she wasn't satisfied. She felt greatly as though she'd come at it with no finesse; all loose limbs and swings fueled by premeditated anger. She had to take control of the sword and use it as an extension, instead of lobbing it around like any old thing. It wasn't a bat or a sickle or an axe and she shouldn't swing it as such.

So thus she decided she needed to not only work with its attack power, but with how she holds it and executes moves. Although gripping the blade doesn't seem inherently important to the way she can cut through enemies, but in all reality it was everything. One wrong placement, one wrong twist of the wrist, and it could mean everything in a second.

Holding her arm out straight, she balances the blade by its hilt on her fingers, careful to angle her arm and wrist just vicariously enough that her blade teeters, but doesn't fall. She finds its balance, wondering if perhaps she could do that fancy trick where you roll the handle over the back of your knuckles and move your elbow, and wrap your fingers around it to regrip it.

With enough practice, Harue could do a lot of sword tricks, she mused. She'd never meet the likes of a swordmaster's abilities, but she could make do with what abilities she does hone. Might as well polish those abilities, even if she's not very good at them - sucking at something was the very first step to being kind of good at something, right?

Once she's found the balance of her sword, she grips it wholly and finds the best position to stand in. She wasn't dabbling in any stance styles right now, and she wasn't sure that she ever would, so simpler was better. She had to find something that was right for her and her blade, not just one or the other. It had to be a smooth dance, and she had to find herself intertwined with her blade.

Or maybe she was looking at all this rather abstractly. Maybe it was no more than a kunoichi and a blade and an enemy, and how well she can hold that blade to that enemy. Skill was nothing when it came down to raw survival instinct, but then again, instinct was a skill of itself. Using her blade could be just as instinctual as that.

She spends more time figuring out how to hold her sword comfortably than she'd like to admit. But it will pay off greatly in some way, and most importantly it'll make using her sword a bit easier on her. She felt a lot more confident now in facing off against the ever daunting dummy, he with no fear. After switching out the old one for a new, non-cut up one, Harue takes a step back.

Standing no more than a few feet in front of the dummy, Harue rests her hand on the hilt of her katana after previously sheathing it. She had to start from the beginning, follow all the way through, until she felt as though she was really getting somewhere. So, slowly, standing before the dummy still, Harue curls her fingers around the blade's handle and waits for the perfect opportunity to strike. 

In a moment, she draws her blade and, in the same motion, makes a diagonal slash across the dummy's front. Without sparing a second, Harue creates another slash in the polar diagnoal direction, creating an 'X' on the dummy's torso. After a second, the cut splits open, and stuffing comes pooling out behind it. It's not much, but the little bit of stuffing hangs from the body like the blood of a cut man.

That was much more like it! Harue first examines the cut she'd made, appreciating the cleanness of the marks she'd made. Then she looks over her sword for anything that might smear its glossy edge, but not even a hint of the stuffing clings to it. Good. Quick and precise cuts, then - exactly what she'd been going for. 

She takes a step back and looks at everything together, and is glad that she hadn't lost her touch with the blade. It was most likely the same with her shield, but she wasn't really ready to pick that back up again. In fact, Harue wanted to work even more with her blade - she wanted to be able to wield it flawlessly.

If she kept it up, that might be possible. Not anytime incredibly soon, of course, but eventually. It could prove to be an invaluable asset to her, and that's what kept her going. She gave her blade a few more swings, twirling the hilt around her hand so that the blade itself swings in a figure 8 in front of her. She was getting pretty good at swinging it around expertly.

Sheathing her sword and then unlatching it and setting it back aside, Harue decides that, considering tomorrow she'd be seeing Matsunaga again, she'd continue again with her Tasukeru. It had been a good few days since she even activated it, so getting back into the feel of it will be a good exercise by itself. She hums, to herself as she goes back outside, activating her Tasukeru as she feels fresh air wash over her.

She'd come to prefer training the Tasukeru on strolls. The same 200 meters every time got a bit boring - but at least she could say she could map out the perimeter of her home like the back of her hand. All the same, she had to be somewhat stationary to bring up the demonic illusions - she supposed in most cases, she wouldn't be moving around a lot when she used it.

Or was that a preemptive thought? Maybe she'd have to distract people from afar. But would the illusive chakra networks stick around in a place she no longer occupied? Or would they fall as soon as she left her own boundaries of the Tasukeru itself. She supposes that would be a question of whether or not they were constantly being erected by Harue, or if they were made and then stood forever.

There's a lot of debate on Harue's end before she actually starts putting anything to physical test. In fact, she even decided to turn her walk around, but she doesn't go home fully. She chooses a spot off the beaten path, finding that the further into the routeless trail she went, the thicker the bramble became. She needed some alone time, after all. She chooses a rock to perch on, one that's fantastically higher than all the rest, and then she gets back to work. Stretching her limits, as you would.

It doesn't take much now to bring up a few chakra systems. But as it were, she could only do 15. Which was a rather shallow number when you really thought about it. She wanted to, in the very least, double that number. The more the merrier. So she'd have to work at distributing more time evenly and effectively among her created demonic illusions, and possibly spend more expertise on working them from the feet up.

She, thankfully, didn't have to worry about little details. She would, some day, but for now she could focus primarily on the erection of 30 fake chakra networks, and how well they hold up against another doujutsu. Unfortunately, she didn't know anyone else with a doujutsu that she could practice on in the moment. At least not with frivolous asking of consent, because Harue wouldn't feel right approaching someone with this without preemptive conversations about it.

To start relatively simple, Harue brings up all 15 of what she's capable of first and foremost. It was to, A, regain some feeling for it and, B, see how quickly she could accomplish this now. But there had been some down time where she didn't use this, obviously, and so it takes a moment to feel out the technique again. She tries to go over what her and Matsunaga discussed about it, but that felt forever away now.

The thought reminds her that, tomorrow, she'll be meeting back up with her sister. Had she really been sick? Harue thought about testing her with these demonic illusions - set them up around their rendezvous location and hide out, wait for her to react. But Harue knew that she'd recognize it perhaps a little too quickly as both Onigami-centric, and Harue created. There must be a specific detail left by the creator that would act as a tell for her.

She works with the fifteen she has. She could divide them each by two, which could honestly prove to be easy. If each got an extra to grow from them, then that would make another 15. Which, all together, would make a healthy 30. Harue couldn't rightfully complain about that number, but she was sure that it could be brought up regardless. But alas, she would honestly be okay with just that.

Once they strike them, the systems disappear. This jutsu is most effective under a visually altering jutsu, ie, the Hidden Mist skill, because the victim’s will not be able to tell as well what’s real and what isn’t.

Slowly but surely, Harue was feeling the beginnings of a headache creep up on her after a bit of prolonged attention to the creation of those demonic illusions. She wanted this to be over, but she didn't want to rush. But she also didn't want to stop half way through and continue tomorrow, given especially that the day was still young. No more than a few hours until nightfall, but Harue could work with.

The headache culminates behind her left eye, and then her right after more usage of them. There's a lot of pressure on the peak of her brow, and for a moment she thinks her head might explode. As such, she quickly deactivates her Tasukeru and takes a few moments to regain some self control. Her head throbs for a good while, and eventually she gets so annoyed that she gives her temple a flick.

Her Tasukeru rolls on in tandem with the flick, the soft glow of her scarlet irises reminding her to not lose hope. Her head couldn't really explode - Hell, the pain might even be a sure sign that she was really expanding her mind. Or she just hadn't eaten all day and it was catching up with her, but either way, she felt confident in her Tasukeru. In fact, upon retrying, she could even erect a whopping sixteen illusions. That was one extra!

The longer she ignored her headache, the more numb she got to it. She was utterly focused on her training now, so much so that she wouldn't even notice a bead of blood under her nose. She was concentrating a bit too hard, and even with her eyes closed tightly, her Tasukeru was still madly at work. She pushed each new chakra network painstakingly into fruition, grunting somewhere around the twenty fifth erection of demonic illusion.

Harue tastes blood and finally wipes her nose, but she doesn't stop training. With blood smeared across her mouth and drying fast, she continues trying to erect so many chakra foolers still. She hoped that there would be both strength in the numbers and in the individual illusion itself, because this would be a pointless exercise otherwise.

It didn't only work on doujutsu, she reminded herself, but every form of chakra detection. It would be useful in one way or another, someday, somehow. And if it weren't, she'd at least have a handy trick up her sleeve for ever a time she did require it. She tries not to give this too much thought, afraid it would deviate away from her hard work. She molds endlessly at the fake chakra networks, like making humanoid sculptures.
