Village Hidden by Sand
The sands of Kaze no Kuni are unforgiving. Much blood has been spilled and all of it has been drained beneath the every shifting sands, hiding a past of great violence and power. The history of the village is one fraught with betrayal and underhandedness, why would the future be any different? The village is hidden behind a vast expanse of rock that created a massive basin of rock that the settlers of the desert had come together in to create the village. This wall is colloquially known as the 'Meseta', meaning plateau. This Meseta has withstood the worst the world can offer for years, and the only break in it is where the mountain divides at the gate. Split apart by a powerful shinobi many years ago, the Divide is a heavily fortified and heavily travelled route.
Once within the village; and once the guards at the gate have allowed you to enter, the splendour of the Village Hidden by Sand. The first sight before you is the Obelisk of Tears; a tall ebony monument with the golden writing of the Kazekage greeting all newcomers to the village. The Obelisk resides in the Wind District which extends for a block in all directions from the monument in the centre of the district. Around the circumference of the open expanse; many merchants have set up their wares for the new visitors of the city and the old residents who pass through it on their way about. The stalls sell fresh fruit, meat and fish; many leatherworked wares, hand crafter weapons, and one can even pick up some money that the people of the city are willing to part with in order to get things done. Primarily, the people who offering money are requesting tasks that are far beyond the norm in regards to difficulty.
Heading north from the Wind District the visitor finds themselves in the more business oriented area of the city, the Key District; which stretches from the northernmost border of the Wind District to above the Kazekage Tower. The Key District spans the entire width of the city and contains most of the Shinobi related buildings. The first government building one will encounter is the second most fortified building in the city, and possesses many of the village secrets. The ANBU offices contain the Shinobi morgue where any high-priority corpses are held. Not only do the strongest Shinobi of the village all report in here daily; but the research and development workshops are here. The ANBU offices are fully equipped with forensic laboratories so any incidents in the city can be investigated here.
To the left of the ANBU offices; another very popular destination can be found. This building is the only merchants building that is funded by the Kazekage and any official trades are done through this place. The shop is small but sells everything that a Shinob needs in order to survive; and if the visitor is lucky, a person passing by may have dropped off a special item that may be found. The store happens to have quite an able Shinobi manning the desk alongside the complex security system that monitors the store. From here; the next important building is directly north, and is less travelled than a building of its calibre should be. The Grand Kaze Library rests in the shadow of the thickest part of the Meseta. Many important reference books can be found here, but money is offered to anyone who can bring in any books that are not held within the halls.
The library had digital copies of the books so that anyone who wishes to download the books with whatever interface they possess. Once you have exhausted your options at the library; to the north east, another public access building that is quiet substantial to the villages education and treasury. The greenhouse is quite advanced and possess the ability to cultivate many different plants from a large variety of regions. There is one more public access building north of the greenhouse, and that contains any animals brought to the village for the zoo. The animals are used for research and their alchemical ingredients, but it is used to keep the creatures of Shinobi safe while they are leaving the village, and is often filled with puffing smoke as the animals are summoned.
The only building of interest left, and the most important building in the city, is the Kazekage Tower, which sees the most foot traffic of any building in the city. The tower receives diplomats; traders; concerned citizens; and Shinobi looking for missions and money for completing missions. The tower is the central hub of the city, and if one wishes to travel about the city without being tailed by ANBU; stopping by the tower and registering with the Kazekages assistant. The tower is the focal point of the village; and for those in good standing with the village, there are many tools and materials within that can be of great aid. Finally, towers are dotted in the village that always have at least one member of the Sunagakure Shinobi force watching from the high vantage point.
