Chunin Arena

This is perhaps one of the largest arenas in all of the world. All contestants would find themselves in the enormous oval corner rectangular shaped arena. The arena's width was 190.5 meters, while the length was 327 meters. Plenty of room to allow the members to stretch their legs. The Ground level was made of brownish gravel, which reached further down. There were no lower areas of the arena. This would intentional to stop contestants from getting lost in caves below.

The first row of stands was 20 meters off of the ground surrounding the arena. The length of the stands was 60 meters around the arena that progressively grew in height. The stands however were empty, with the exception of holographic images of people could be seen throughout the arena. Loud speakers echoed the cheering noises. It seemed seats were bought throughout the world and allowed viewership.

The sun was up, day was clear, no clouds in the sky.

Arena was clear of obstacles.

Titan of Stone, Ranzu, Skulking Shinzu, 💚AyZe💥, Christoff, Flower all found themselves randomly in the arena (player's choice).

Over the loudspeakers spoke an announcer.

"Rules are simple ladies and gentlemen, this is going to be a 3 minute, 1 round battle royal. It is everyone verses everyone. You can use any technique, any ability at your disposal. Do not remove your wristband. It is a status band. It notifies everyone of your vitals and it is an emergency teleporter. If it senses serious danger (0 Armour Points) you will be teleported out of the arena and into the nearest hospital. Some of you may also feel a boost in power, because the wrist band calculates the potential of every member and creates a balance. (💚AyZe💥 You're the only non S Class, so basically right now you'll be treated as "S" Class in terms of saves, Armour Points, Movements, etc., except Chakra though). You will all fight until the 3 minutes are up or until there is 1 person standing. The fight may be stopped beforehand however so keep that in mind. To become Chunin is based on a point system measured by all Kages who are not participating in the Tournament. You must stay in the gravel arena. You may not fight in the stands. Fighting or stepping onto the stands will result in automatic disqualification."

A bright light filled the room where Selyse had been just a moment prior, then all of a sudden she was rushed off to an unknown location. She was used to traveling by time-space phenomena and so it didn't quite shake her, but she was surprised when they ended up in a large arena surrounded on all sides by holographic people -- cheering them on. She looked exactly as she had in the tavern, with her regularly aquamarine hair up in pigtails and her rather colorful clothing. The white, sleeveless collared shirt and blue skirt clinging to her body still, and decorated with the various bow ties and ribbons. All of her equipment also traveled with her.

Her perfected spear, Bitter Mercy, felt good on her back with its Skull of Strength and all of its enhancements, as did the messenger pack around her shoulder which still had three spring razors, an LED flashlight, a tracking device, a jar of five good-quality quartz crystals, a jar of five good-quality lapis lazuli, and a jutsu book with the Summon Friend seal. The butt bag was still on her as well and held the same equipment as before: two Ghost Gems, a Coleman's Traveling Stone, a Qurna's Eye, five tracers, 57 senbon, 15 hira-shuriken, and two kunai. All of her augmentations still hidden, as well the Yntalla's Tear underneath the skin of her right armpit and the Eldritch Affliction (Earth Glide) that Isamu had bestowed upon her. The small back-pack tactical transceiver still ran to her ear tuned to Channel 3.

Selyse had appeared on the south-west side of the arena, fifty meters away from the west wall and twenty meters up from the south side. She looked around for Isamu, wondering whether he would appear close by or far away -- just as a voice boomed over the loudspeakers. It was an announcer who told them they'd be participating in a Battle Royal and explained the rules for the match. A smirk curled across Selyse's face as she heard the announcer speak and her eyes floated over the contestants. Oh what fun... she thought with a hint of satisfaction. She raised her hand up into the air and waved to the holographic audience, taking in their cheers with a bit of laughter. She even blew one of them a kiss. As Selyse was enjoying her time in the spotlight, however, Valerys seemed to look out from the depths of her psyche and take in the situation.

It was looking like she was going to be able to have a bit of fun after all.

As Krystal appeared due south of the arena roughly 100 meters from the wall she glanced around and her storm cloud rumbled again as she saw Selyse flirt to the audience. With an eye roll she looked back around to the others for a moment as she floated a foot off the ground. The arena was drab despite its size, simple gravel and lights, she took note of the other participants as she stretched and laid back floating with her back just above the stone floor.

A battle royal it seemed, regardless if this was some sort of exam she doubted it was simply beat everyone else so she would begin to breathe in and out deeply while keeping note of those closest to her.

[Skulking Shinzu]

Yis’ neck snapped around to peek over his right shoulder as he heard the gravel ground crunch from behind. It was the bipedal Neko, staring back with curious saucer-like pupils. “Ah good – You made it.” Neko picked up on her companion’s thoughts and smiled in an oddly human-like manner. “A clear day, huh?” Yis stared at the cloudless sky while muttering under his breath. Considering the name of his new village, was this to be considered a bad omen? Swallowing, paranoia began to settle in.

“Battle Royal?” Ordinarily, Yis loved to battle. However, despite the announcer’s booming voice, this was not a battle. This was a test. Contemplating, Yis began to wonder what the Kages could be testing him on as realisation set in that his fate was in their hands. “Focus!” Neko’s telepathic voice struck Yis’ mind like a thunderous bolt. She was right, this was no time to overthink. Taking a single step forwards, the flayed man bowed before the audience as if to flaunt his illusion of confidence.

Upon rising, Yis took the precious few moments of peace to glance around. He had appeared alongside Neko in the dead-centre of the gravel arena. The closest two walls were 95.25m away, while the furthest two were 163.5m away. He took note of this as his keen sense of hearing began to take in all the sounds around him. The stands behind the furthest walls escaped his radius of enhanced Bard hearing. However, the stands behind the two closest walls were just within range to alert him of the fact that the audience possessed no heartbeats or breaths. If there were any doubts in his mind, then they were removed at that moment. The audience were holograms or some type of illusion. Combined with the fact that the wristbands possessed the ability to drag participants out of danger, Yis knew that he had a rare opportunity to let loose with little to no repercussions. Grinning, the flayed flesh around the lower half of his jaw stretched as the smiled extended from ear to ear. Who would spawn next? Patiently, he waited for all the participants to appear before reacting.

Isamu felt a pull at his heart and then he was leaving the bar. For a half second he was somewhere else, somewhere completely foreign to him, then he was standing in a massive arena. Immediately his hands went to his equipment to check for its presence. Isamu was relieved to find it all there. His tactical vest was secure with six kunai, 2 smoke grenades, a tear gas canister, forty exploding tags, forty locking tags, forty incendiary tags, forty lightning tags, and 50 jutsu tags. 2 of the jutsu tags were prepared with his desert creation technique and one of them was prepared to store a technique on activation. Isamu also had some Dust of Dryness and his Goggles with antiflash lenses, condition viewing lenses, Lie-detector lenses, x-ray vision, x5 zooming vision, camera vision, substance locator vision, and infravision.

Isamu pulled the goggles out and secured them to his head, pulling them over his eyes. They were set to camera vision and they were recording. The data was stored on a holodisk in his butt pack. The pack also held twelve hira-shurken, 4 wireless radios, his multitool, a headlamp, a compass, a dungeoneer's compass, flint, three gravitic pressure bandages, and five explosive seeker mines. Isamu had his fifth wireless radio in his ear, tuned to channel 3. Isamu's utility belt held five magnetic emitters, three blood clot pills, five thermal capsules, two rigid manacles, a handheld inspection tool, a handheld surveillance monitor, four surveillance spikes, a motion sensor, a tracking device, ten tracers, one field cauterizer, three sonic emitters, a stone tongue gem, and Isamu's prized immortality stone and Death's Tear.

In the pocket of his BDU trousers was his Gem of Prescience, worn smooth by his fingers. Isamu's cloak was still in place underneath the gourd of sand. The cloak hung loosely, concealing thirty explosive kunai. Isamu's sword was secured to lis left hip. There were two switches on the handle. One was for the thermal enhancement, the other for the cryo enhancement. On Isamu's left arm was his melody arm. Inlaid copper wiring from a shock enhancement criss-crossed the melody arm.

Isamu next searched inwards feeling for the layers of curses he afflicted on himself. It seemed they had not been disturbed either. He felt for each of them in turn Aspect of the Four Winds, Breeze, Airsphere, Dance of the Wild Monkey, Flight, Heart of Air, Shield of the Wind Count, Earthen Grace, Halo of Earth, Greater Ironhide, and Earth Glide. His left hand touched his katana and felt the curses he had left there. Metal Concealment and Weight of the Earth. It seemed everything was in order.

The Sadojin cast his eyes around the arena. It was an incredible facility and despite piped in noes and the projections of the spectators it felt incredibly empty to Isamu. Shihana was not far from him. He wondered if the wrist band had read his intentions to support and protect her or if it was a stroke of luck. Isamu was 75 meters off of the West Wall and 50 from the South. The rules were issued and Isamu looked around at the other particpants taking note of their positions. He noted that Krystal in particular was quite close. He wondered how Selyse's relationship with her would affect the exam. It was a battle royale but they had not forbade teaming up. Isamu certainly intended to protect his Kazekage.

[Ranzu]

With a sense of vertigo Zeki would look around the arena he was suddenly located in. He would look around at his surroundings to take it all in, seeing that the arena was quite large so that room would not be a issue. Furthermore the weather was clear today so rain would not be hampering his ability to fight either, which was very fortunate.

The Sadojin would look at the other contestants around the arena before sighing, knowing that this was going to be a hard won match if he could even win it that is. He was not very good at fighting others, and the current crowd would be quite troublesome to handle too. He could only really hope to put on a good showing and that the judges of the exam would not look at him too harshly.

[💚AyZe💥]

In the blink of an eye, Angela's surrounding changed. A few seconds ago she had been in a dirty, old tavern, now she stood in the middle of a large arena. Her hazel eyes looked around curious to know how she came to be in this unknown environment. Seeing the same faces that had been with her in the tavern scattered all over the field made her not panic, and also convinced her she wasn't in an illusion.

As she was busy trying to figure out how and why she had been taken to this place, a voice echoed through the speakers explaining everything. "Is that so?" she muttered to herself, forming a sinister smile over her face. This was her chance to test out her recently acquired abilities. She had made sure to come to the exams prepared. She had on green military pants with multiple pockets, a black shirt hidden underneath a green military jacket which was unbuttoned. The jacket had metalplate engraved with the leaf symbol on the left side of her chest. Over her head she had on a green military cap, covering her white hair which was held back in a tight ponytail. Her feet were covered in green combat boots. She liked to call this outfit 'The Leaf Soldier Attire.'

A light brown pouch containing 30 slots of chocolate flavoured clay rested on her right hip, clinging to the brown belt wrapped around her waist. Next to her clay pouch, over her right bum, hung a buttbag holding 10 kunai, 30 hira shuriken and 15 bo shuriken. On her other hip rested a green sidebag, held in place by a black strap that ran diagonally across her body and over her right shoulder. The bag had two compartments: in the main one it contained 40 slots of vanilla flavoured clay, and on the other a few gadgets. Among the gadgets were: a gas mask, a pair of anti-flash googles and a torch.

Even though she knew there was a high chance she might get killed, the battle royal excited Angy. She had nothing to lose and everything to gain. If she died no one would cry nor miss her, but if she somehow managed to come out victorious she'd gain respect and the titled of Chunin. She wasn't sure how she would defeat the other contestants but was certain she could last three minutes in the ring. She kicked the ground and spun around in a 360 motion inspecting the battled ground. She looked up to the clear sky and took deep breaths, preparing herself for battle before gazing back at her many opponents. Her right hand held on to her sidebag as she awaited the command to fight.

[Flower]

Selyse watched as each of the other bodies suddenly started appearing around her. The land was flat so she could make out most of them, not obscured my any obstacles. Isamu was very close to her -- a fortunate irony. He was just over 20 meters away to her upper right. Krystal was past him and a little closer to the middle of the arena. There were a couple of figures standing together toward the center, but Selyse didn't pay much attention to them for the time being. The other girl, who had been awfully quite from the start, appeared close to the center as well. Selyse was looking for the Sadojin, the one who was running around with Sand's rare abilities, and found him appear about thirty meters from the west wall and also twenty meters from the south wall. Straight in line with Selyse and about twenty meters away to her left.

The voice announced that the match would begin.

Selyse couldn't help but chuckle. As she did, the flesh of her back started to bubble and fall out the bottom of her shirt. In a couple of seconds an exact replica of Selyse would emerge on to the battlefield, growing out of the collection of cells fusing on to the ground. The new Selyse, which did not have a spear or any items but otherwise looked very similar, dashed in-between Selyse and the enemy Sadojin. She knew that Krystal might move to protect her Stone ninja, so she radioed to Isamu: "I'm going to have a little fun with the Sand Man." Suddenly she was forming a string of handsigns that took her but a moment, so long as no one was attacking her yet. "Make sure that Krystal doesn't get in the way, but other than that do as you see fit. In the end, I want us to be the last two standing. Then we'll get that sparring match we talked about." Selyse smiled. They never did get to finish their match...

Sure they said that it was a free-for-all, but the proctor hadn't prohibited them from working together. And, besides, Shihana would not have let her attack a ninja of the Sand Village -- unless they were the last two that remained on the battlefield. 

Selyse finished the handseals for an Aid, Legion's enchantment and sent it flying through the air toward Isamu. It burst, covering an area only where he stood, and giving him a blessing to help with the battles to come. Selyse would keep her eyes peeled for any enemy attacks -- trusting in Isamu to guard her -- and rely on her homunculi to stop anybody who got too excited. She formed another set of handseals after the first, this time with double the speed, and shot a sudden glance at the Stone Sadojin. He'd notice that a sudden genjutsu was beginning to slither inside his mind. The Rend the Sovereign Soul technique, if not stopped with the Stone sinobi's will power (DC 32), would cause the ninja to suddenly be overcome with feelings of unease throughout his soul (-6 to Will saves).

In a flash, almost unseen, Selyse pulled the spear Bitter Mercy from her back and held it in her hands [Quick Draw]. The red and purple metal flickering the light with flecks of some odd stone or craftsmanship. It was of a standard, average-size and felt good in her hands. As she was standing there, the skin below the original Selyse's arms would begin to bubble. Another jutsu taking place within her body. While cells were beginning to dance around inside her, both of the Selyse's eyes would turn to the Sadojin after the genjutsu. The clone would be ready to attack -- stepping forward with bare hands as the original held the spear and stayed in a position close to Isamu. "I'm sorry, sweetie, don't take it personally. I'm just having fun, and my boss isn't fond of a Sadojin outside of the Sand Village... so you know."

Selyse would shrug, as an unknown technique continued to course throughout her body. It's unfortunate that I've had to do so much preparation. It would be so much easier to run around taking them down. But, alas, her battle style was like this. She had to be careful with her movements. Besides, I'll need to impress the judges... The copy of Selyse would jump forward toward the Sadojin now, ready to make the first strike if he had not attacked her already, and if no one else decided to attack Selyse (which seemed somewhat likely since it was Isamu and Krystal closest to her). However, what the homunculi was determined to do was not clear -- as she'd dash forward with bare hands. Going in with a right jab toward the Sadojin's face if he left himself open.

[Titan of Stone]

As the buzzer sounded Krystal's body would become incorporeal and she would begin to draw symbols above her in the air as she laid half a foot from the ground. In that moment black shadows would bleed off of her for a moment as her soul split fell beneath her and into the ground. With lungs full of air and x-ray vision, the wraith would fly effortlessly toward Selyse while staying a foot under the ground, her pervasive hearing allowed her to catch every word she was transmitting to the other sand man.

A slight smirk played at Krystal's lips knowing that if he was going to keep watch on her he would have to do it with his eyes and not the earth due to her floating so she flicked her ears and waved at him. The wraith however watched as Selyse's flesh double run off towards Zeki and positioned itself behind Selyse while staying under the surface.

Krystal herself rolling over onto her stomach so she could glance back and forth between the few at the center and the group she was interacting with. Although the wraith would emerge from the ground whenever there was a blindspot before becoming solid again with her finger on the blade of Bitter Mercy transferring static to the spear before becoming incorporeal again and sinking into the ground once more watching and waiting.

[Skulking Shinzu]

“Yo.” Yis blinked as someone appeared a mere 10 meters South from him in the middle of the arena. Eyeing the figure intently with his red eyes, he tilted his head towards the right so that Neko could lift herself up onto her tiptoes to peak over the now exposed left shoulder. Expressionless, the bipedal cat also stared blankly as if peering into the leaf ninja’s soul. “This one has the makings of an evil heart…” Neko confirmed with a telepathic voice, which entered the minds of Yis and the leaf ninja to alert her of their presence. “I don’t have to feel guilty then.” He muttered while snapping his fingers. In that moment, the item summoning seal on the flayed man’s right wrist triggered to summon a menacing-looking scythe drenched in shadows.

Gripping the scythe – Shifter’s Song – with his right hand, Yis took a single step forwards and began a casual walk towards the ninja as a menacing aura began to bleed from the shadowy metal of the scythe. Oozing dread, the leaf ninja would need to steel herself (Will save: 35) to avoid becoming consumed by utter despair (-2 Saves, -5 Attack Damage, -10 Skill Checks). In the meantime, the bipedal cat remained tightly towards Yis’ left while matching every footstep so that the duo constantly remained side-by-side. From the moment the shadowy scythe was summoned, Neko raised her over-sized paw and aimed it at the leaf ninja to unleash a cone shaped blast of Searing Wave with an effective range of 100 meters to make escape near impossible. If the torrent of soft purple light washed over the leaf ninja and then later Krystal from behind, it would deal 60 AP of damage directly to their souls – leaving their hearts thundering as if on the brink of a heart attack despite there being no real physical damage to their bodies.

While all this occurred, Yis took note of the scene behind the leaf ninja. Although the remaining participants were quite some distance away, the flat nature of the arena meant that their vague outlines were visible to his sharp eyes. He paid careful attention to the fact that all of the participants had spawned near the lower half of the arena towards the South wall. All, aside from the unlucky leaf ninja that had managed to conjure herself directly near him. The fact that Neko’s highly honed Searing Soul technique didn’t reach any of the other ninja suggested to him that they were more than 100 meters away – with Krystal being the closest of the group. Unintentionally or not, that made her a target. “Hey… Did you have to aim an attack at Krystal too? All this feels kinda backstabby.” Yis thought to himself as Neko responded directly via telepathy. “This is a test. We have to demonstrate our skill to the Kages. That and I… didn’t realise she was in range. I’ve never used Searing Soul this way before…”

Isamu cast his eyes about and saw that Zeki had appeared in the corner between himself and Shihana. It was a vulnerable position but an inconvenient one. Isamu's had thought to convert this corner to a home base for Shihana and himself to operate from, but Zeki was the one other person in the arena who Isamu knew would benefit from that. He would have to be expelled before that plan could be brought to fruition

Selyse's voice buzzed in his ear, "I'm going to have a little fun with the Sand Man. Make sure that Krystal doesn't get in the way, but other than that do as you see fit. In the end, I want us to be the last two standing. Then we'll get that sparring match we talked about." Isamu's eyes turned to Krystal, "Copy that. I'll try to keep her occupied and provide you support when I can." Selyse's friend Krystal was suspended on her back lazily tracing symbols in the air. She was the tallest woman he had ever seen and she looked powerful.

A warm feeling came over him as Selyse's genjutsu settled over Isamu and at the same time Krystal gave him a little wave. He suspected it would be best to tie her up for the time being and tackle her together with Selyse. Isamu drew his sword and swung it deliberately extending it towards Krystal. Isamu's chakra laced the air around her and suddenly a wind twisted and shrieked around Krystal. Isamu's technique would trap and buffet her, holding her still in the air. He took a moment to be sure Krystal was secured. If she appeared to be he would thumb the switch on his blade and copper wires glowed red with heat.

A purple flash emanated from the center of the arena as combat began between the other two. Isamu did not allow his concentration to break, he only allowed himself to hope they would remain occupied with each other. His first task complete, he began to sprint towards Selyse to offer his support, arriving ten meters to her right with the homunculi charging forward in front of them both.

Description: Range of this technique is 30 meters + 15 meters per Class Level. Duration of this technique is Concentration. Target is 1 creature. Calling upon the power of elemental air, the user encircles the target in whipping winds. The subject can act normally, but it cannot move from its current location. The winds carry its voice away, so it can speak but cannot be heard, and it cannot hear anything but the roar of the winds. This Jutsu distracts Chakra Users, and so a Fortitude Save is required to successfully perform any Jutsu. Furthermore, no sonic or language dependent Jutsus or effects can be performed into or out of the winds though Jutsus performed by the user upon themselves function normally). Ranged attacks made into or out of the winds are subject to Hurricane-Force Winds. Binding winds holds flying creatures in midair.

[Ranzu]

Gravel crunched under the feet of Zeki as he stood around as if he was in a daze like state after being teleported. He did not move very much at first other than looking around the stadium and so would seem to be easy prey for the more powerful competitors around. Finally though he spurred himself into action by performing a few handseals though all that really happened was that the earth moved around his feet onto his body as if to cover it up. First it caused a form of earthen spikes to sprout from his body, then two layers of earth cover him, and finally a layer of chakra that looked like a set of robes settled upon the Sadojin. Ultimately this gives him a stone hard defense (92 Hardness, 5dr/-, 5dr/charka, and 160 Armor points) while dealing damage (40 slashing damage) to anyone who got into his reach.

Then Zeki felt something come over him mentally which caused him to look around and spot the homunculi and further beyond Selyse with her hands pressed together in a jutsu, no doubt having just cast some sort of jutsu on Zeki. More than likely a genjutsu with how it weighed on his mind. A small smirk appeared on the lips of Zeki as he knew the jutsu would also be reflected back at the user (mirror mind). The Sadojin was about to cast a genjutsu of his own against her when he spotted a fairly familiar figure running up to to his attacker. It seemed the other Sadojin had come to reinforce his fellow ninja, putting this fight at a disadvantage for Zeki.

This caused the Sadojin to pause for a bit before bringing his hand up at the trio standing a few meters away from him. Aiming his hand between Isamu and Selyse so both would be caught in the cone, along with the homunculi, he would unleash a terrifying barrage of energy missiles out at them. The missile storm would impact each target with thirty six missiles (Dealing 30 damage each, for a total of 1080 AP damage). After the storm had ended Zeki would look tired from expanding so much charka.

Fearful of the retaliation from the that would come from others if they managed to survive, the Sadojin would run back toward the wall and the shadow it would cast if however small. Zeki would use that shadow in a attempt to hide himself with as much skill as he could once he was in range of it (125 Stealth Skill). He had wished to stay out of the fight as long as possible but it seemed the fight had come to him instead.

She was unlucky to have found herself in the centre of the arena since it was the most congested. There were several potential threats around her but Angy faced and kept her focus on the nearest contestant, a dude who was followed around by a large bipedal cat. Weird looking thing it was. Immediately after the order to commence battle was issued she called out to her soul and connected with it, gaining immunity to fear and intimidation. She had no plans of attacking anyone as of yet, and wished to find a safe spot to hide and assess the situation, but before she could do so a strange voice echoed inside her head.

Quickly, her right hand unbuttoned and slid inside the sidebag to consume a single slot of clay. She hadn't seen the creature's mouth move but was convinced it was the one that uttered the words she had heard by how it was blankly staring at her. When she saw the male summon a weapon inside his hand, she got into a defensive posture and chewed the clay inside her mouth very fast pouring chakra into it. The attempt to make the leaf soldier freeze in utter despair would fail since her immunity to such emotions had been turned on. She took a single step backwards before getting struck by a wave of bright light.

Two small white balls dropped from her hand before she followed. She fell to her knees with her hands on her left chest. She had a hard time gasping for air, and each time her heart pumped blood she felt as though it was being squeezed together. Breathing felt more harder and harder as each second passed and her heart felt as though it would stop beating at any moment. The pain was intense and unbearable. She almost prayed for a quick death but something inside her just wouldn't let her give in. Suddenly reasons of why she entered the exams flooded her mind. Relaxing her hands and body, she took steady breaths to try regain her focus. Angy recognized the technique but had never seen my it used to such a degree. She kept her eyes on the enemy expecting another attack.

From the burst of the clay creature, a powerful wind is released instead of an explosion. This wind covers a radius of 10 meters, and can knock down any unsafely secured items, sway trees about and kick up little debris. When contact is made with an enemy, the burst may knock them off balance, or feel like the equivalent of a hard punch (if used correctly). Anything beyond 10 meters will just feel the strong wind

Since Selyse was keeping her eyes on Isamu and Krystal, as well as the Sadojin, she saw that Krystal started leaking shadows into the air and seeped them into the ground. So is it the wraith then...? Selyse knew she'd have to buffer up some defenses to counter Krystal, as she often created a soul-clone at the beginning of combat, so the homunculi-Selyse watched her back. It'd leave no blindspot to tag the spear as the homunculi stood guard to stop any approaching enemies, and when the homunculi ran away Selyse snatched the spear into her hands -- keeping a close eye at all times. If the wraith tried to go after the spear when Selyse had it in her hand, then the ninja would be prepared to counter.

But the true threat lay ahead, Selyse realized, as she had to counter her own mind-effect. The Mirror Mind? Selyse thought with a hint of annoyance. How unfortunate. She also possessed the quality so she knew everything about it. Unfortunately that didn't help her avoid the attack as her own soul felt the negative affects of her own genjutsu (link). Suddenly, Selyse thought she could feel a pair of eyes opening up inside of her mind. It felt like Valerys was waking up. She shuddered internally, but kept going with the battle. Trying to ignore the gnawing feeling in her soul.

How could you let this happen? 

Selyse wanted to cower at Valerys' cruel interjection, but she was in the midst of combat. The man had put up his hands as the homunculi approached him -- building up some sort of attack. She didn't like how long he was charging it and she knew it had to be strong. Selyse threw up a defense in front of her and Isamu (who had just arrived) just as the Sadojin launched his chakra missiles, and allowed a form of chakra armor to form around her own body. They tore apart the homunculi, but blasted into a Wall of Force (invisible and of an unknown size) a few meters in front of Selyse and Isamu (and the wraith) -- doing no damage but leaving a brutal cloud of dust in its wake.

As the Sadojin was now realizing that his attack wasn't going to cut it, Selyse would suddenly appear on his right side in an instant (Body Flicker - Arc and Blink). No time for him to run off into the shadows. No time to form more handseals. The Wall of Force still active in front of her partner, Isamu, giving him nice protection for his long-range attacks. 

"You know, you really shouldn't piss people off." The Sadojin's armor would react and slash at Selyse but she wouldn't care; letting her Chakra Armour absorb part of the blow and her anger push her through the rest as her spear would seem to be coming at the Sadojin from all directions. All in a single movement, the North Wind: Howl -- a slash from his head down to his crotch, a diagonal strike down the left, a diagonal strike down the right. And he shouldn't have seen it coming, since she teleported and jumped into action to surprise him. Furthermore she hoped that the first strike would blow through his earth defenses  at least a little and leave the ninja open to her upcoming attacks. 

After she delivered her devastating blows in but a movement, she'd set up in the Ginga stance and let her back leg fly up at her opponent's chin. It was a high-strike to the face, a very fast and deceptive kick known as the Queixada that was difficult to dodge, but more of a set-up technique the Sadojin would discover if he were hit -- being throw into the blade of her spear as it tried to cut him down the middle with a Falcon's Spiral. 

If her opponent tried to teleport out of the way or otherwise make some escape, then (#1) Selyse would be prepared to counter immediately with a Searing Soul technique that she was building up as she moved around the battlefield. She wouldn't give him even a second to prepare as the soul attack rushed out of her body in a similarly purple light to the one demonstrated by the Flayed Man. But this light was darker, almost violet or black. It would ignore his defenses and shields, unless they were pure chakra, and hit him directly. 

If her opponent didn't try to escape or teleport away, then (#2) Selyse would whisper a secret word and quickly shut her eyes as the head of her spear, speckled with pearls and fine minerals, would suddenly begin to shine and emit a powerful, bright light that would leave anyone within a six meter radius blinded as if by a heavenly source.

As Isamu projected winds around Krystal she blinked for a moment before shrugging and floating through it as well as a couple meters beyond so she wouldn't be caught in the walls since her body was incorporeal. What she wasn't expecting was the surge of purple that may have rushed behind her and through the wind cage. Krystal blinked and looked back the way it would've came from and saw the cat looking at her before Krystal raised her fingers to the bridge of her nose before pointing them at the cat.

Meanwhile the wraith had emerged from the ground after the homunculous had run off but since Selyse had drawn her spear forward the wraith narrowed its eyes before lightly tapping the belt around her waist since it looked to be an article of clothing as opposed to the rest of her attire and transferred the mark there. A moment later the wraith saw the missiles launched by Zeki and used that moment to shift back underground as Selyse's shield came up.

[Skulking Shinzu]

“Oh?” Yis couldn’t help but notice how one of the men had sprouted an armour of earthen spikes to defend himself against two attackers before a barrage of explosions erupted. Unable to observe the trio from this distance until the debris from the strikes settled, Yis focused his attention back on the Leaf Ninja. “Whatever you just picked up… I wouldn’t throw at me if I were you.” He warned as he spotted the figure take a step back before dropping onto her knees. Unaware of how powerful Neko’s Searing Soul technique was and having missed the fact that the Leaf Ninja had used a Soul technique – Yis could only assume that he had successfully intimidated his foe.

“Clay?” He thought before spotting the mouth carved into the girl’s palm. This key piece of detail caused Yis to grow wide eyed. “Looks like we are one in the same.” He snickered as he raised his left hand into the air. A second later, the flayed flesh against his palm split apart to reveal two rows of fanged teeth, bleeding lips and an unnaturally pointed tongue that hung out loosely. “See? The same.” Rather than the words coming from his face, only the lips on his hand moved eerily to form the words. Lowering himself into a squatting stance so that he didn’t tower above the Leaf Ninja, Yis began to ponder while never allowing the two white balls nestled against the gravel to leave his focus.

“What are you thinking!” Neko’s telepathic voice scalded Yis while also leaking into the mind of the Leaf Ninja. “Remember what I was thinking earlier? This isn’t a battle royal. It’s a test. And there’s more than one way to win a test.” Yis’ expression remained unmoving – but the mouth etched into his palm smiled slyly. “I believe we can agree I have won this battle, correct? So, run along and help that Stone Ninja over there being double teamed. If you do, I’ll leave you alone... As long as you reach him before he's eliminated. Otherwise, I'll have to assume you weren't trying very hard.” A snicker emanated from the hand-mouth before it began to eat itself and produce flesh to replace any wounds caused by the action. Before long, the mouth was gone, and his palm reverted to its ‘usual’ flayed appearance.

With the mouth gone, Yis extended his hand towards the woman in a gesture of peace as if to seal the bargain. If she accepted and shook the hand, Yis would wave the woman away as if to tell her to enter the fray towards the South to assist the Stone Ninja. Meanwhile, Neko’s hairs began to stand on end as Krystal noticed the wave of purple that had been fired towards her. This prompted Krystal to part with a threatening gesture which caused Neko to panic and leap behind Yis for protection. “Ah… Krystal’s in a bad mood. I do love it when she gets angry.” He said as his expression shifted to a gleeful smile that stretched from ear to ear. “Well, run along now. Or if you’re going to sucker punch me, make sure you go for your strongest attack so that I score some points for tanking through it.”

Isamu blinked and Krystal was out of his cage. With her escape Isamu quickly stopped moving towards Selyse. The Genin let out an internal sigh. He supposed that would have been too easy. There was a loud crashing boom in the vicinity of Selyse. He saw the other Sadojin's technique blocked by an invisible barrier. The Kazekage could protect herself. He turned to face Krystal again. She was gesturing at Yis, looking away from her opponent.

Isamu perceived this as a slight, but then again he supposed he had underestimated her with his opening move. Loosing control here wouldn't do anything for him. His training as a swordsman called on him to probe his opponent, to learn her strengths and weaknesses. Isamu allowed his wind cage to dissipate and the sand in his gourd stirred imperceptibly. The Sadojin brought his blade above his his head and brought it down with a slash sending a gust of wind towards the giant woman. The wind was severe and gathered dust all the way to Krystal laying a path about 3 meters wide of sand.

The air around her would fill with fine particles of sand. Isamu's left hand made several quick signs. The sand between him and Krystal would slid towards her and began to coalesce. Standing three meters from her initial position was one full sized clone of Isamu. It was not as robust as he would have liked but he had to do make do with what sand he had created. Once formed the clone would surge forward and swing a right hook at her. Isamu stayed back watching Krystal's reaction to his opening move.

Description: The shield is capable of withstanding considerably strong attacks and projectiles, and can be hardened to a point where it's stronger than many creations. The shield is so strong that it has earned the name "Absolute Defense" (絶対防御, Zettai Bōgyo). The sand will react regardless of the user's will, even protecting them from self-inflicted injuries. User may also completely surround them in the shield to further increase the defensive capabilities. Strength and Speed of Technique depends on the rank of the Technique.

As his missile barrage ended and the dust started to settle down it became clear to Zeki that his attack had not done any damage to anything other than the strange flesh clone that was closing in on him. Lowering his hand back down to his side the Sadojin tried to guess what had blocked his attack; it was clearly some sort of obstacle as neither his missiles or the dust got past it, it was very powerful as shown by the fact that it blocked his entire missile swarm, was not visible to the naked eye, and was long enough to protect both Seylse and Isamu despite them being meters apart. Zeki concluded that he was most likely dealing with a wall of force jutsu which also meant he was dealing with another force user.

The Sadojin made a tsking noise, a habit picked up from his time with humans, and started to turn in order to run near a wall and it's shadow so he could hide. However before he was able to really move, Zeki heard a voice next to him and knew that someone had gotten next to him despite the obvious threat of the spikes. By it's clear femininity he guessed it was Selyse and turned his head to look at her even as her spear struck his defenses in rapid succession. The strikes left deep groves in his armor but did not manage to break it (133 AP left). "Right back at you, with a side helping of being unsportsmanlike by teaming up in a battle royal." Zeki would reply to her snide remark even as he formed a headseal and held it. Almost instantly his shadow would stretch out in a attempt to touch Selyse's shadow and if it was successful it would freeze her in place before forcing her to copy Zeki's movements.

If he managed to hit the shadow then Zeki would start to sprout out a bunch of handseals. However as soon as he started to do the other handseals the shadow would retract back to his own, but that brief pause if it connected was all that he really needed. His jutsu would cause five stone shackles to rise from the ground and attempt to clamp down on Selyse's legs, a arm of stone would sprout from the ground from behind Selyse and attempt to grapple her, a pit of sand would open up on the opposite side of Zeki from where Selyse was and a meter of it would fly through the air before attempting to start covering her up. He was hoping to pin her down so his spikes would finish her off eventually.

Doujou Kirikae no Jutsu (Soil Conversion Technique)

Drawback: The largest drawback is that it takes time to be capable of doing such a thing as well as it takes an abundance amount of chakra in order to perform this technique. This technique should be used only if the user needs to use as a last chance for a large move.
Description: When the user does not have sand for them to use in a vast amount for Jutsus the user is capable of taking what sand that they do have to convert materials around them to create more sand. Depending on the type of rank the user is capable of learning this the user is capable of converting different types of material. The higher the rank is the stronger the material the user can convert.

Description: After forming the seals chakra controls the sand so that it surrounds the opponent or parts of his body, capturing them completely in sand. Only the face is spared to allow breathing. When the opponent is captured, they may be lifted into the air and may even be attached to something. When the user does this, the user has the power to instantly destroy the opponent if feels necessary. The technique is so precise that the opponent feels virtually no pain when the technique is done. What occurs is that the sand constricts and tightens around the opponent so fast that it quickly passes right through the opponent somewhat making the opponent explode, but literally just being crushed to a new extreme melding within the sand that kills the opponent. It takes one post to trap the opponent.

The more techniques of the Nara Clan that the user possesses, the higher this capability will rise.
"C" Rank- When this rank of the technique is obtained, the user's holding capability with Kagemane increases by 30%, meaning that the amount of time before the opponent is capable of breaking out increases by 30%. The speed of the shadow is increased marginally, so that it is still seen and capable of easily being dodged. Increases the distance that the user is capable of extending their shadow out by 5 meters for every rank of Difficulty Class that the user has obtained, starting from "D" Rank.
"B" Rank- When this rank of the technique is obtained, the user's holding capability with Kagemane increases by 40%, meaning that the amount of time before the opponent is capable of breaking out increases by 40%. The speed of the shadow is increased noticeably, so that it is still seen but moves at speeds that might rival a Taijutsu Specialist of the same difficulty class as the user. Increases the distance that the user is capable of extending their shadow out by 10 meters for every rank of Difficulty Class that the user has obtained, starting from "D" Rank.
"A" Rank- When this rank of the technique is obtained, the user's holding capability with Kagemane increases by 50%, meaning that the amount of time before the opponent is capable of breaking out increases by 50%. The speed of the shadow is increased dramatically, so that it is difficult to see as it darts forward to capture the opponent. The speed becomes fast enough that is is said to be capable of rivaling the speed of a Taijutsu Master of the same difficulty Class as the user. Increases the distance that the user is capable of extending their shadow out by 20 meters for every rank of Difficulty Class that the user has obtained, starting from "D" Rank.
Limit: "C" Rank requires 500 TP in Nara Clan Jutsu. "B" Rank Requires 750 TP in Nara Clan Jutsu. "A" Rank requires 1,000 TP in Nara Clan Jutsu. Once the user reaches the TP requirement, they gain this ability automatically.

Kagemane no Jutsu (Shadow Imitation Technique)

Effect: The Kagemane no Jutsu (Shadow Imitation Technique) allows the user to extend their shadow on any surface, including water, and as far as they know and as long as there is sufficient area.
Special: "Holds Rat Seal" Technique performs after length of normal handseals.
Drawback: Tiring to use repeatedly. The ability is subject to some form of diminishing return and decreases in potency after repeated use. If the user is low on chakra, the performance rate of the technique also deteriorates. Insufficient lightning will make the technique less effective. A particularly strong opponent can also resist the shadow's forced imitation. May only change directions within the span of 60 degrees. When retracting the technique it may only retract by retracing where it has gone.
Description: Once the user's shadow comes in contact with the target's shadow, the two merge and the target is forced to imitate the user's movements. The user and the target could both throw a kunai. It is recommended to keep all weapons in areas where they normally don't keep them.
First Learned user uses technique up to 10 meters. Each time learned gains an extra 10 meters.
After 50 meters user must train an extra 10 TP per tech - TP Does not go down by Class Level.

Angela watched as the enemy got closer and closer with each step. She tried to gather strength to stand on her feet but the pain inflected upon her was too much it wouldn't allow her to do so. The leaf soldier was surprised when her enemy stopped before her to give a speech instead of delivering the final blow. She watched the man and his companion attentively and listened to what he had to say while at the same time taking steady breaths to try and pull herself together. Angy stared at the man blankly, curious to know what he meant by them being the same.

Revelation of the male's fanged mouth on his left palm made the leaf soldier shake her head in disagreement. That disgusting, bloody thing looked nothing like her precious hand mouths. She doubted the man's mouth had the ability to do what hers could but refrained from voicing out her opinion as she didn't want to upset the man. She continued watching the male with a fake smile, pretending to be amazed by his demonstration. Each second the enemy wasted talking and performing random actions allowed Angy to regain a bit of strength and control over her body. The same voice from earlier echoed inside her head, making her stare at the cat for a short while before returning her gaze back to the male.

"Mmm," the girl tilted her head to the side and stared into the flayed man's red eyes when he declared himself winner of their little battle before issuing out an order that the girl had to follow if she wanted him off her back. By now the leaf soldier had regained her breath and her heart no longer ached. She was herself again and only one thing rang through her head. Vengeance. She wanted to jump over and strangle the bipedal cat for causing her pain, but the loud cheer of the holographic crowd reminded her that people were watching and judging. Also, she noticed that both the male and cat didn't appear to be nervous nor worried about the battle royal, which Angy took as a sign that they were strong and had confidence in their abilities.

The technique she had witnessed earlier gave her a measure of the cat's power and it was way above hers that's why she fought off her anger and made a decision that wasn't influenced by her emotions. She got up to stand on both feet and quietly took the male's hand giving it a firm shake. After grabbing her two clay balls from the ground and placing them inside her jacket's pocket, she gazed at the cat for a little while, and silently told herself she'd come back to separate its head from the body, before running off towards the south. She wasn't sure if she would follow the flayed man's orders and help out the Stone ninja, for the time being she only wished to get away from the flayed man and his weird cat.

The very moment she took off in the direction towards the Stone ninja being double teamed, both hands fell inside the clay pouches on either sides of her hips - her left hand went inside the green sidebag to consume 10 slots of clay into her palm mouth, the right hand dug inside the smaller pouch to consume 5 slosts. Both hand mouths chewed as she ran, injecting chakra into the brown and white substances. As she ran, she looked around to check out what the other participants were up to. She noticed Krystal point a finger towards the duo she had just gotten away from, and noted her location.

Stopping 65 meters away from the Stone ninja covered in spiky armour, Angy believed she had gotten far enough from the flayed man and his stupid cat's reach. Both hand mouths vomited out chakra infused clay balls into her hands. She dropped the white ball to the gravel, held a one handed seal and watched as the vanilla flavoured clayed expanded and changed shape to form an exact copy of herself. The clay clone looked, acted and talked exactly like the original. Still holding the same seal the clay ball in her right palm grew into 2 identical brown hawks which flew from her hand to hover 5 meters above clone Angy's head. Again both hands went inside the pouches to consume the earthly substance.

Inside the left palm mouth she ingest 2 slots of vanilla flavoured clay, in the right 1 slot of chocolate flavour. The leaf soldier explained her plan to her copy while at the same time injecting chakra into the clay. In a matter of seconds, she produced a single clay ball from each hand mouth. She kept her eye on the Stone ninja and the event occurring around him, and constantly looked back to check what the flayed man was up.

Description: This Jutsu creates a clone just like all the other Bunshin no Jutsu and looks exactly like the user that would be mistaken for the real enemy. When this clone is struck in anyway, however, it changes to look more like a clay sculpture of the user. Whatever makes contact with it becomes stuck in the clone, as it's extremely sticky clay. The clay will wrap itself around the thing that came into contact with it and hardens leaving the thing stuck in it, vulnerable for attack by the user of this Jutsu. The user can also make the clay clone explode with the command "Katsu", in order to do that however, you must have the technique at a B Rank. The clone is not limited to just humans, its limited to all other things, animals, etc.

Selyse noted the tap on her belt and the wraith pop up from underground. Found that she was able to get through at least some of the Sadojin's defenses and sliced away at him, but it wasn't enough she found as the youth was still standing and that she had only made some deep scratches into his armor. As the boy tried to form handseal for his shadow technique instantly, he'd find that he still had to take the time to form the chakra into a C-rank ninjutsu technique. Just as she'd predicted. He couldn't form the handsigns for his shadow technique while she was cutting him down the midsection of his body, and would need to prepare his chakra for a c-rank technique regardless, meaning that she'd be able to get off her kick and Falcon's Spiral [164 ap] before the Sadojin could react. Although her kick and Falcon's Spiral wouldn't necessarily stop him from forming handsigns, she hoped it would make it more difficult.

The shadow would stretch out to capture her, and would do so, forcing her to mimic the movements of the Sadojin. She'd smile as he (and she) started to form another round of handseals. I can make this work. She giggled, but Valerys was watching from somewhere close inside her mind. And it felt uncomfortable.

Selyse would be mixing up her soul energy just as five stone shackles rose out of the ground and clamped down around her feet. The Sadojin wouldn't have time to create any other handseals, however, as Selyse's Aggressive Soul Drain technique suddenly bursted out of her body toward the Sadojin (who was still 1 meter away). It didn't matter what movements he had her take, her force could be performed regardless. The power of the soul was a beautiful thing.

Black lightning would fill her arms, rushing forward into her hands and bursting into the air in a flash as the shackles hit her legs. The ray would be aimed directly at the Sadojin and rake his soul, ignoring his defenses (1d4 + 1 Perception damage). If the boy continued trying to form handseals, then his Earth Grasp would appear  to grapple her just as Selyse formed the soul energy for another attack. This time it was a Harm All Souls technique that would cover her up like an unseen aura except for small amounts of static. The Sadojin would find that he'd have to fight with the power of his will or risk taking damage from another soul source as it buffered through his defenses (Will save 26 negates). 

As the Sadojin performed the handseals for another jutsu, in the middle of them he'd find that suddenly Selyse was taking a deep breath -- and had disappeared. Reappearing where her soul had gone, about eight meters from the Sadojin and in front of the Wall of Force (Soul Shunt). Her soul would be flickering inside of her body, preparing another technique that she could direct at him -- another way of getting under his skin. Then another just for good measure. If he continued with his handsigns then she would do just that, sending more techniques his way, but she'd suddenly notice a new girl arrive close by. She had come running from the center. From where she had supposedly been in a battle with the Flayed Man. That purple light...

While forming the unknown soul techniques and watching her opponent's handsigns, she'd radio Isamu. "Be careful. Looks like something happened over there. We made need to reassess our strategy." 

"Looks like I'm not the only one who plays dirty," Selyse said with a grin toward her opponent. "Why do you think she's over here now?" Her eyes flickered in the direction of the newcomer on their side of the arena, who was still some distance away. If the sand still came toward her, even after the two unknown attacks she'd prepare with her soul and her shifting further away, then she'd have to find a way to dodge it. She prepared her body in a physical stance just in case.
