It didn't surprise him to hear that his friend was still leaning towards the ice release as it had been the last thing that he had known. The fact that his friend had shifted so drastically by the demon still surprised him, but he was glad that the man was feeling better and actually remembered things. But as Zuruel mentioned ice, Emi thought back on the previous time they had been fighting against the undeads in the fire nation and Zuruel had covered the entire area in an extremely cold climate. Despite that the undead had any vital organs that could freeze shut, they had still been affected drastically by the technique. So he wondered how strong it actually was, especially against something that was alive and that could freeze to the core. He had never been very good in ever changing climates as he swiftly got uncomfortable when the temperature went up more than a few celsius.


I do not believe I praise you too much, it's just a matter of you being humble. Don't you remember when you made a forest into an icy tundra? That was mighty impressive. Mind testing that on me ?

Emi walked a few steps away from his friend and turned to face him with his arms stretched out straight from his body. Despite that he knew that it would hurt quite a lot, his conviction to push himself beyond the normal to achieve his goal was too great. To become something greater than humans, one couldnt have any comfortable training exercises. But he didn't know how he would need to prepare himself for such an attack, because even though he had faced some before, he had never been prepared. A few memories from his days in school came to him and claimed that cold climate was always experienced worse while being tense. But what concerned Emi was that when getting hit by a cold breeze, his body always reacted in the opposite way and tried to protect him.

You don't think we wouldn't go to far if we were to fight? I haven't seen that demon you have within yet.

It was a genuine concern, because even though he had never lost a fight, the level they were at could have severe consequences if something went bad, especially if there were others around. That had him remember that the one skulking around was still around, which could be dangerous even if Zuruel controlled his icy area. So Emi made sure to move a few more meters away from everyone else while estimating what distances he himself needed if anything were to happen. He then closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths as he awaited the coming shock of cold. In his mind, he cursed his own training regime while his body was getting curious of what was going to happen and how well he would be able to handle it.

As Zuruel awaited Emi’s response to the spar, he began focusing on the strange sensation tickling away at the back of his mind. As strange and irritating as it was, it was also strangely comforting. It was like he was being watched over by a friend. A family member even. Zuruel began to realise that he found the feeling so strange and foreign because he had never experienced it before.

inking, Zuruel decided to focus on the feeling rather than putting up mental walls to block it. At that moment, he realised just how soothing it was. His body was still tense at the alien feeling, but accepting it seemed to ease his mind. This seemed to create an open pathway to his soul, which began synchronising with the sensation. Was this what Lady was talking about?

Zuruel thought back to why Lady had decided to remain in Cloud to train. She seemed to want to discover more about the wavelength of souls. He didn’t quite understand what wavelengths of souls were, but somehow, he knew he could feel Lady’s. Had she somehow cast this strange technique on him? Curious, he mentally reached out to her to see what he could feel.

"Tell you what - let me test my tundra against you in a semi-serious spar. I'm in full control here. No demons haunting me any more, physically or mentally. Well, minus what the cursed mark does to me. But, even its effects are under wrap. Lady would confirm... If she wasn't off training by herself."

He wasn't very surprised as his friend would prefer to make it into a proper sparring match as nothing beat live training. It did however require a lot more focus and as he previously had considered wouldn't be much difference in between play and fight. But to please his friend, he decided that it was finally time to do some practiced fighting with the man. That had Emi wonder if he would be able to be more susceptible to the cold techniques or less, due to him being a lot more tense but also much warmer. But he figured that he would get to find out in a few seconds, so he took a deep breath and tried to imagine himself a scenario in which they needed to fight. Despite that he could casually fight his friend, he found the training more effective if he was in a possible scenario.

Let it be so. Just be prepared, I have never learned to pull my punches. But I will keep an eye out for any sign of you wanting to pause.

When Emi had noticed that his friend had both heard and understood what he had said, Emi swiftly began the fight by drawing two senbons. In the same action as the projectiles came out from his robe they came flying towards the Kedoin. With pinpoint accuracy Emi had aimed the two attacks towards Zuruel's shoulders, making it hard to avoid both of the attacks with one move. He figured that the optimal move would be to close the distance and force his friend into a melee, which meant that he almost instantly after throwing his senbons dashed closer. It didn't matter if the incoming charge was seen as the distance he had to travel was too short for any advanced technique to be performed anyway. His steps hammered across the plain as he moved fast enough to be practically invisible to normal ninjas. [Shunshin 1 charge]

He made sure to follow Zuruel's movements carefully while avoiding any direct eye contact, the Hoshigaki had experienced illusion users after all. If he was able to catch up to Zuruel, Emi would start off the rapid stream of attacks with a powerful punch towards the middle of Zuruel's chest using his left arm.[-3 movements] To follow with his motion Emi then used the left leg to kick in the area of Zuruel's knee, before he spun around and used the left leg to push himself forward and launch himself after Zuruel. While using his full weight, Emi threw a total of six heavy punches towards his friend from an upwards angle towards his chest, shoulders and head. Since he had seen Zuruel fight at several occasions, he knew that such a direct assault most likely wouldn't work. But the point of the practice was to get surprised and challenged, forcing each others to adapt quickly.

2. Zuruel hadn’t fought without Lady’s assistance for quite some time now. The two had become inseparable. It was for that reason, that the Kedoin couldn’t help but grin at the fact that his soul could now somehow sense her presence. As far as she was, he was not alone. He’d never be alone again. Grin shifting, to playful smile, Zuruel allowed himself a few moments to take in the moment and enjoy himself before responding to Emi.

“Understood, but don’t pull your punches. If you need to annihilate my body, aim for either the lower, or upper half. I have a brain in either half capable of regenerating myself whole again.” Zuruel knew Emi was too kind-hearted towards his rare few friends to go that far. Still, if there was any possibility of convincing Emi to fight without restraint, then he’d go for it. “…Go.” At that moment, the smile shifted from Zuruel’s face into a neutral expression. Despite his words earlier, he appeared to be going serious. Albeit, without the usual aura of a battle-lusting maniac. Strangely, he seemed calm. Evidently, against his rare few friends, he didn’t seem capable of being cold-hearted either.

Eyes glimmering with caution, Zuruel did nothing as the two senbon whizzed through the air and struck his shoulders with a metallic ‘clang’. Oddly, the two needles then fell to the ground silently as if they were unable to embed themselves into flesh. In their place, two tiny trickles of shadows oozed out from the punctures of Zuruel’s skin in place of any signs of blood or wounding. It was at that moment that the Kedoin noticed his gaze did not meet with Emi’s. His ally’s eyes appeared to be closed. A handicap? Grinning, Zuruel’s eyelids shut to drown out the light of the world as he decided to rely purely on his sense of hearing.

‘Swoosh’ – the characteristic sound of a linear Shunshin [Observation: 255]. It was clear Emi was using it to close the gap. His blue comrade didn’t seem the type to simply ram into someone directly. It was clear Emi was about to stop inches away from Zuruel to engage in close combat. A variation of Shunshin may have surprised Zuruel at that moment – but a simple linear Shunshin never could. The first of Emi’s attacks seemed to be coming in the form of a left-hand punch, as evident by sonar helping to map Emi’s physical composition. Shifting his head and upper body as low towards the right as possible, Zuruel allowed the punch to just barely slip by the left of his torso. Simultaneous to this, he threw a seemingly simple jab with his right fist at the perfect moment to utilise Emi’s momentum against him. If successful, the counter would return one-hundred and fifty percent of the power behind Emi’s wasted blow right back at his shoulder with hopefully enough staggering force to put a end to any further strikes that may have been planned.

Pale purple eyes narrowed a little in order to get the angle right. He knew that felines could see better than humans. Being stealthy with those around would be a challenge. 'I think I need to move to the right. My body is far to the left now' observed the male.

He leaned towards the tree while he bent his body to the right. Minoru crouched down a little so he became harder to see. Both of the jaguars were at the same side of the tree. If they split up, he would be caught quickly. The young man noticed that he was not that far off the ground.

'Maybe I can use another shunshin to get to the ground. However, I need to land somewhere safe' observed the Chuunin. He scanned the ground for a potential hiding spot. It did not take him long to find one. The male decided to get back on the ground again.

He bent his legs first so he could leap into the air. Most of his weight was put on the front of his feet. Next, the black-haired guy jumped into the air. He would shunshin [2/14] towards the ground using the inkaten. The young man landed behind a bush a few moments later.

He used his byakugan to look behind him. 'Phew. I better increase the distance. I'll risk getting caught if not' observed Minoru. He bent down a little as he jogged towards a nearby tree.

This does not impede the user's line of sight and the distance a user can normally see, however they simply will not be able to use the X-ray ability beyond 10 meters. When the user first learns this technique, the user trains it as a regular “C” Rank jutsu. Each additional training allows the user to use the X-Ray ability for an additional 10 meters. For every 50 meters, the user trains an additional + 10 training points added to their previous training. Effect: A jutsu that allows a user to rush forward in almost instantaneous speed. Used to draw the user close to the opponent.

Drawback: May use 3 times a day. May perform 1 more each time learned. Passing amount renders the user's legs immobile due to severe pain. Unable to perform again unless gained medical treatment. Must move through an opening. Unable to maneuver around obstructing objects. Can't attack while performing any shunshin or variation.
Description: User is able to move forward in a straight line along the ground in almost instantaneous untraceable speed while temporarily masking the user's movements within 10 meters. A puff of smoke is occasionally used to disguise the user's movements. It is accomplished by focusing the user's chi along the ankles and foot. User mostly moves just with their ankles and feet. Jutsu takes up no movements. User may only use this jutsu half of the movements may allow in a single round while rounding down. Example: User has 5 movements, user is able to perform jutsu 2 times per round.

The fact that his friend was durable was nothing new to him, and he had even been told some of the reasons why. But when Zuruel had barely cared to avoid his senbons, he felt a little offended. It did however not remain like that for long, as the first punch in the series was skillfully averted by his friend. The counter was both swift and calculated, but luckily Emi had decided to make kick afterwards, making his balance rest on his back leg. To get out of the counters range however, he had to sacrifice his kick and land on his right hand as a support. The counter swooshed just a few inches above his head, allowing him to feel the massive pressure it was in it.

To not stop his assault on Zuruel that fawt however, Emi moved his point of balance to the arm he was already resting on, before he shot himself towards Zutuel with a double kick. (25) It wasnt any of his better attempts, but he needed to keep his friend occupied. As his initial attack had been immediately countered, Emi expected that kick also would be so. While he slowly moved through the air, he tried to figure out what he possibly could do. The first thought was to simply defend himself until he knew more about how Zuruel was fighting. Emi wasnt in any optimal position to defend while making his kick, but he made sure to draw down his arms to cover his upper body.

When Emi then had tumbled back on his feet and turned to face his friend again, he took a broader stance and held his gauntlets ready to block. Then he launched another set of kicks aiming towards the upper leg or lower stomach.(25 each) when he had made both of them and had his active foot back on the ground, he stopped for a brief moment and observed if he could recognize any pattern in his friend. (125 know ability, 125 martial lore). If nothing else happened, Emi would attempt a rapid stream of scratching attacks using the claws on his gauntlets. It was just another way for him to determine what kind of learned actions Zuruel would use as a counter measure. (60 each)

The male glanced slightly behind him to see what the jaguars were up to. It looked like they were checking the area near his previous location. 'They will find my trail quite soon. Guess it's time to head for the swamp' decided Minoru. He had already figured out the best route from his location.

Step one was tree jumping in order to avoid leaving a scent. The young man sprinted towards a nearby maple tree after checking the felines' position. His body was partially covered by some nearby bushes. Furthermore, the Chuunin avoided all roots or twigs like the plague. This made him less visible to the jaguars.

'Now for step two' decided the male. He jumped or stepped from branch to branch as fast as possible. Most of the trees sported leaves that provided him with some cover. The black-haired guy kept up the momentum to avoid being seen. A minute later, he was in a large oak tree.

'Looks like it's time for the last step. Cross the swa'. His byakugan saw some movement behind him. Both of the jaguars were looking in his direction. This made him move under some thicker branches to improve his cover.

Surprisingly, the felines did not move towards him at all. The young man decided to move. He walked carefully on a thicker branch that stretched north. This would lead him to an old-looking maple tree. So far, his plan was working.

Description: When the user learns this technique, choose 1 Jutsu Enhancement Technique they know. Once per day, the user can invest Spring Time of Youth Points into this technique and choose 1 or more Jutsus that they know to apply the effects of this technique to. User must invest a number of points of Spring Time of Youth Points equal to each 1/2 Rank adjustment required by the Jutsu Enhancement Technique (minimum 1 point of Spring Time of Youth Points) for each Jutsu to be affected. The Jutsu gains the effect of that technique without any change to its rank (or performing time). The user can apply the effect of this technique to as many Jutsus as they can afford to invest with Spring Time of Youth Points. User gains 1 point of Spring Time of Youth Points.

“Interesting.” Zuruel grinned as his counter whizzed through the air without making impact. A second later, a thud suggested Emi had repositioned himself, before sonar revealed the blue opponent’s next move. Tapping into his Spring Time of Youth pool, the Kedoin suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of energy and power burning inside of him.

Knowing the sense of empowerment this offered would only last a mere second or two, Zuruel made use of the burst of energy and speed to perform a rather unorthodox dodge. Stiffening his legs, the muscles of his feet and toes clenched with the surge of energy in order to anchor his lower half onto the ground. As Emi’s double kick approached, Zuruel leaned his upper body backwards to narrowly pull his upper half away from the trajectory of Emi’s feet. Highly flexible, Zuruel was capable of pulling his upper body so far backwards, that he could make himself almost horizontal to the ground if needed. Such was the combination of boxing and the supernatural stamina offered by the empowering effects of Spring Time of Youth.

Having dodged the strike, Emi would simply pass overhead, before landing behind Zuruel with a tumble. “You know…” Strangely, the voice didn’t come from the Kedoin. It seemed to come from 30 meters directly above Emi’s position. “…I always wondered. How close are you to this ascended form you keep speaking of? I have always wanted to see your progress.” As Emi turned, he would find no figure to strike. Glancing around would reveal little else either, as would staring up at the sky if any attempts were made at finding the source of the voice. Zuruel was gone. Completely hidden in the shadow of Emi’s blind spot [Stealth: 530], Zuruel waited patiently as his Bard voice continued to emanate from high above rather than from his lips. “How about it? Loki’s true form left… Quite the impression on me. I’m curious what yours will do to me.”

'Only a few more steps to go. In more than one way' thought the male with a grin. He walked down the branch with ease before he climbed down. Minoru scanned his surroundings for one last time. He stood behind the tree trunk to stay hidden from the felines.

'I think I should approach the two guys over there. They don't seem dangerous' observed the young man. He bent down a little as he started to move. The Chuunin knitted his brows as he moved between the smaller trees. On the positive side, they would give him some cover.

Next challenge was the bushes. A smile formed at his face as he crouched down. His hands pushed the grass aside gently. Meanwhile, his legs took longer strides. This combination made him cover a greater area faster.

'I think I'm only 50 meters east of the shorter guy now. Let's see how that goes' thought the male. He was currently bent down behind an evergreen shrub. Its density hid his lean frame quite well. Both of the jaguars were quite far away as well.

When the user first learns this technique, the user trains it as a regular “C” Rank jutsu. Each additional training allows the user to use the X-Ray ability for an additional 10 meters. For every 50 meters, the user trains an additional + 10 training points added to their previous training. The user also suffers a penalty to observation checks every 15 meters instead of every 3 meters. If user loses an eye (has 1 eye) telescopic eye is reduced by 50%. Effect: A jutsu that allows a user to rush forward in almost instantaneous speed. Used to draw the user close to the opponent.

Drawback: May use 3 times a day. May perform 1 more each time learned. Passing amount renders the user's legs immobile due to severe pain. Unable to perform again unless gained medical treatment. Must move through an opening. Unable to maneuver around obstructing objects. Can't attack while performing any shunshin or variation.
Description: User is able to move forward in a straight line along the ground in almost instantaneous untraceable speed while temporarily masking the user's movements within 10 meters. A puff of smoke is occasionally used to disguise the user's movements. It is accomplished by focusing the user's chi along the ankles and foot. User mostly moves just with their ankles and feet. Jutsu takes up no movements. User may only use this jutsu half of the movements may allow in a single round while rounding down. Example: User has 5 movements, user is able to perform jutsu 2 times per round.

The kick had went pretty much as he had expected, it was not that hard to sidestep after all. But as he turned around to continue the fight, his friend had vanished from thin air and was suddenly talking from the sky. The first concern he got was that he had somehow gotten stuck within an illusion, which he then tested out by biting his chin while trying to match the surroundings with his memories. When he had found all of the normal signs that normally told him that it was the real world, Emi tried to locate his opponents steps. He knelt down and gently placed his hand to make the vibrations feel even more prominent to his mind. To use chakra sight in such a situation was rarely good as it could be more distracting than assisting, especially when more people were around.

It has always been a dream of mine.... sadly.. it is fading. Despite that I crush limits, I constantly find new ones that always are harder to break, so now it's more a wish... a hope. But if it would be possible... I believe I'd be about 40% there. There's several divine powers that I have learned, but most still have limits.

The Hoshigaki's jaw was getting tense as he spoke, he really didn't want to accept that he still had a long way to go to even see the end.

To hide is quite easy, my friend. I can show you my released form, but to be divine is more than a physical entity. Some of my form I believe you have already seen.

A few twitches in his face appeared before his skin suddenly began to be pushed around and stretched. The body got larger and larger until the skin suddenly broke and an even more shark-like humanoid appeared. The creature continued to grow far beyond the tallest of humans while his eyes began to shine and a faint aura covered his entire body. When he was approximately 10 meter high he finally stopped growing, while his muscles grew some more, making him look quite bulky. The entire effect had taken approximately 6 seconds.

I doubt you can damage me like this, but you're free to try if you wish. I will however show you my strength.

His voice boomed over the area before he leaned forward and used all of his might to punch straight down on the ground. (approximately 850 damage).

Zuruel was forced to take a step back, only to realise that he needed to take a few more to accommodate for the growth of Emi’s tail. It was a wonderful transformation indeed. Not unlike his own. The Kedoin prepared to trigger the power of his curse too, up until he spotted Emi leaning forwards to punch the ground. Deciding to make good use of the warning, Zuruel reached deep inside of his physical energy.

It was a strange sensation. Not quite as tangible and easy to manipulate as Chakra, but far easier to call upon than soul energy. Such was his Spring Time of Youth pool, which immediately began to smoulder and burn like kindling to generate energy. Muscles bulging, Zuruel found himself rejuvenated and empowered once more under the effects of the mysterious energy.

“Damn… No time.” Zuruel was planning on striking Emi from behind, but the shark-like figure had put too much commitment into his action. As Emi’s fist neared the ground, Zuruel slammed his foot downwards, not once, not twice, but thrice in blurred rapid succession. At that moment, a crater opened up beneath the Kedoin’s feet, giving away his position entirely as a wave of ripped earth and kinetic energy collided with the force behind Emi’s strike with enough force to nullify each other out [likewise, just over 850 damage].

'Looks like it's time to introduce myself' decided the male. He went down on all fours after checking his surroundings. Minoru semi-crawled towards the smaller guy in order to stay hidden. His byakugan kept a close eye on how the duo moved. The felines were still unaware of his location.

The young man stood up when he was 20 meters behind the smaller guy. "Sorry for not introducing myself earlier. I was doing some stealth training. Don't worry about my eyes. I can see perfectly fine" assured the Chuunin in a calm voice.
