Months had passed and the civil unrest within the gates of Sound had still been incessant. Butai operatives patrolled the city in groups—Bears worked with Wolves to keep denizens under control; Cats moved with Falcons to round up the rodents lurking in the catacombs.
But of course, the reigning lord of Oto had been the continuous cause of turmoil within his very abode. Having worked a scheme with a higher power, Souma sought to control this realm of Oto no Kuni, and stretch his looming shadow across the kinfolk nations. The oni and shadowmen under his employ had been barbarians. There wasn’t much that they wouldn’t do to sate the radical mind of Sugoi-sama, or that of their own cult leader, Bariq.
Having much influence over both the lighter and darker shades of society, the Otokage created masterpieces of war. Soon he would yet again reach out to the Nation Snow, or maybe that of Grass, to further his motive. For now, he sat at leisure at a local cafè, of course guarded by numerous ANBU operatives that clung close to callous shadows. A smile spread across Souma’s lips as his drink refreshed his palate. Despite the unsettling circumstances about him, children still played, normal citizens still worked. It was as if though this controlled chaos had been the proper cover for his calculating schemes....
A thin framed worked its way through a tight crowd, swiftly overcoming the surrounding bodies as a tempestuous force. Upon raising his head from his latte, Souma’s eye met with the grin that Hideki ever-kept on his visage. The kage assistant took a seat opposite his superior, but only in office, and greeted him the day.
The -kage and his assistant shared an extended conversation through the chaos-laden environ as if though this was the new culture adopted by the Liderens. Souma kept his gaze fixed; when his shadows had to, the Tatsu Butai dispatched of those would-be assailants attempting any coups. Li Hideki mentioned a meeting with the Daimyo of Hotspring... something having to do with Souma’s other aid, the Ranzatsu woman. There would also be brief mention of the operations in Minerai—Surya had been working very diligently with the star chakras.
In the interim of drink and meal, the two discussed appointments with Nations, specifically Grass and Earth.
