It had only been but a trully short distance away from Moyoushi that Reuna encountered her father. The nara male had followed his daughter from the village, obviously worried about her sudden dissapearance. She'd not been paying attention, else she would have noticed him earlier on.
Eventually cutting her off, he said, "Reuna, I want you to have this. You must understand. A father will always worry about his daughter. I won't stop you from traveling, just have a little more direction in where you go."
Before she could happen to say anything, a small book was handed to her. "What's in it?"
"Like I said, some directions, should you get lost. Now to more imporatant matters." he said, not bothering to give a real answer. "Your speed is a real issue. I've noticed that you are quite slow in a lot of your movements. Whether this is due to you being a girl, or a general lack of care, it doesn't matter. It must be fixed. For this, I will train you for a bit before allowing you to go off into the world. I'll feel more at ease this way."

With that , Ruena was taken down to an area just out of the moyoushi jurisdiction. It was a training area very common for her father to use when he didn’t want to use the coliseum. After a bit of explaining, she found out that the move he intended her to learn was the sugizou. That didn’t seem too hard.
To begin, Reuna began to walk around in a circle. In her mind, she was trying to picture the process she should go about. Should she simply run around in circles until she got faster, or should she pace herself and go for a gradual response? Glancing about, the diameter of this little clearing was about thirty meters, just enough to get a decent run for a small test. With her back to her father, she took a lunging run forward. The take off was very clumsy, and obviously could have been executed better. Her speed in her run was very slow and it seemed pointless for her to actually try going on like this. That much was obvious, so she took the time to come to a screeching halt in the grass. Her feet skid for a moment for though it was sunny outside, the dew had not yet dried up from the forest floor. She’d ran about fifteen meters, not of which appeared to even brush up against the technique in question.
Turning back around, Reuna got ready to take another running lung toward her father. Her run was once again flat footed and clumsy, hampering the possible speed she could have put out. After running about ten meters back toward her father, she realized that her form was off. Her feet were practically dragging against the floor. She managed to straighten and tighten her form up slightly, but by the time that was accomplished, there was no time to improve her speed any.
Standing before her father again, she asked, “How exactly is it done father? May I have a demonstration?”
Instantly, her father, who had been before her just seconds ago appeared to make a slight movement toward her. However, midway through that movement, he froze. It took a second for Reuna to realize it, but he was no longer standing there. Her eyes had obviously missed the direction he had gone, but she took the moment to inspect the after image technique. It appeared that through the extremely fast movement, the blurring movement tricked the eyes seeing an illusion of the person who had been there. Her hand reached forward one to touch it, when her hand had reach it, it simply went through the after image and disappeared. The image faded, then it was simply her standing around, alone.
Her body continued to stand there for a moment wondering what was happening until her instincts told her to turn around. As she did so, her heart nearly skipped a beat, for her father was standing behind her expectantly. It’s not that she was scared, but it was surprising for he’d appeared to have simply vanished. “That is the after image. Now, let me see you try again. Keep in mind, you’re not trying to run forever. It’s just a simple short range movement.”
Taking that into mind, Reuna staid still for a moment and concentrated. As she did, she attempted to focus her mind on her muscles. By doing so, she could naturally boost her speed a tad just by having her body prepared for such a thing. Her eyes closed for a brief second as she inhaled. On the exhale, she opened her eyes up and pushed forward with the full use of the muscles in her legs. Resistant to the call, the right leg that she used to push off with initially tightened up slightly. But she pushed through the strain and forced herself to move forward. The wind pushed passed her as she moved, and for a moment, se felt as if her speed had suddenly tripled, if only for a second. It was exhilarating, but still not what she had need. For while her speed had gotten better in the one movement, it hadn’t even tapped into the potential of human muscle. Her father, aware of this simply sighed and said, “Continue. You’ll get better”
