Leaving the mission debriefing room, Genju headed towards his target: Igloo street. He wished more missions were like this. Clearing some snow would be child's play.
When he arrived, the street was not as bad as he thought. It was mostly navigable except for a sole sidewalk. Approaching the first house he rang the bell and waited. Finally, after several more rings and knocks an old man answered. Bald and wrinkly he looked down at Genju from his bespectacled head. “May I borrow a shovel,” Genju asked.
“Why?” he asked.
How it could not be obvious Genju did not know but he replied, “Because I need to shovel the snow on the street and your house is the only one not shoveled.
“Oh,” he replied. “The street needs plowing?”
Genju sighed. This could take a while. “Yes, the street needs to be plowed, which is why I need a shovel.”
“Well why didn't you say so,” the man replied.
Genju shook his head. “So may I have a shovel?
“Why do you need a shovel?”
“To shovel your snow covered sidewalk,” Genju replied again, having a bad feeling about this.
The man paused a moment “When did it snow?”
“Overnight.”
“Yes, I see. So you need a shovel?”
Breathing a sigh of relief Genju answered, “If it's not too much trouble.”
“Okay,” the old man said turning away. Genju waited for the man to disappear back inside but instead he turned to stare at him. “What did you need?”
“A shovel!” Genju said louder than before.
“Why do you need a shovel?”
Genju wanted to cry. It was so frustrating. “Thank you for your time,” Genju said turning to go. “Have a nice day.”
As Genju left the man stared saying, “Oh it snowed.” Forming an unseen fist Genju kept walking as the man retreated inside. He needed a new plan. All he had to do was shovel the one guy's sidewalk and part of the street and he'd be done.
