Solution:Where Are We Going
Hello readers, I am Nirashi Cora. I have been a member of this site, actively, for almost three years now. I have been down with this site, for a long time. I have always been a normal, loyal member, recently ranked up to the status of Game Master. I have never been in trouble, never broke any rules, never made a complaint. Today however, I feel I have to say something to perhaps bring change to this site; mind you all this is my raw feelings. As a member and Game Master I am here to help, provide my opinion, and better this wonderful website.
The whole question, the whole focus of this complaint is to ask, exactly what is the purpose and where are we going. This is a Naruto Forum Roleplay, loosely following themes in the Naruto Manga and in the ninja world in general. NFRP gives members the chance to create their own mini-plots through Events and gives them little missions to take to keep us hooked. We can train like ninja, learn new jutsu, travel, and interact in this roleplaying community. This is your attempt at creating the best, forum simulation of what the ninja life is and should be. Cool. However, as we grow stronger, interact more, do more missions, what are we getting out of this? We grow stronger for what, become Chuunin and Jounin, for what reasons? For players to look across our profile and go "OMFG 4000 TP and he is Jounin! Kewlz." Is that our reward for trying and doing well in-character. In certain circumstances, I can say it is fair, but sometimes not so much.
Where is all of this leading? We do missions and events for what? You place limits, no you shutdown ideas of war and conflict on a large scale. NFRP is in this huge circle of peace, like without ever having conflict. Do not misinterpret, I am not saying war should be something that happens everyday, but perhaps we need one. NFRP does not have a 'true' plot, so you rely on Game Masters to create adventures and tension. As the site F.A.Q. states: Game Masters are event creators and overseers. It is our job to provide this site with events and make the site interesting and fun for the members. Yet, the glory of a grand battle is denied to the members? If Game Masters are working to please the members and site, but staff interferes when we begin to take things to the next level how is that good for the site and roleplaying.
War is not everything, but after three years without a major conflict. Seriously, all of the shinobi countries have lived in peace and harmony, holding each others hands as they froliced around the Tree of Life. The F.A.Q answers one of the most important questions in the thread, Why aren't there any wars? The reply is: Wars are decided upon by staff. If there are no wars it is because Staff does not believe the site is prepared for them at the time being. There are twenty-three staff members currently and collectively you all decide if there should be war or not. Really? From what I have seen, there is only one who denies war, and that is the man in red himself. I am not saying he is the devil for doing so, just calling it like I see it. However, if you have such a democratic view on war, why not take a poll and truly discuss it. Staff decides if the site is ready or not for a war, what is the criteria for deciding? Is there a census or something, members do not know about. Where does staff get their 'research material' from to decide? You have 23 Staff Members and have Game Masters on the site, controlling a war, as long as it is well constructed should not be a problem.
Members invest their time to join this site and roleplay on this site. I feel we are being limited and restricted to this peace however. Fun is capable, but it is leading no where. If you have not seen that after three years, this should be an eye-opener. I don't want staff to live in fear of a bigger plot, a bigger purpose, and on occasions war, so I hope we can come to a solution or agreement here and now.
Be more open to war. This site goal and many staff members have said is to 'promote interaction'. How can you say such when you are limiting it among the members. Being a ninja basically means we have enlisted into the army and what is an army's purpose without squirmishes or conflict. We might as well be Non-Ninja if we are going to continue life as it has been for the past three years.
Wars should be heavily monitored and should have to go through approval. I feel if we created a template for War, in which the Kage of their village could fill out and submit to undergo approval will be the most beneficial thing. Having the Kage provide a reason and a link or links to their decision to engage in war, will keep pointless wars from occuring. Utilizing your Game Masters and Staff Members, we can then construct organized threads for the war. Creating a cap on how many members from each village can participate in a single thread will keep the war easy to manage and prevent it from getting out of hand.
That is simply my rough solution, with staff and help from veteran members I am sure this site can create a system for war. If NFRP is creative enough to come up with a Movement System and give it a try, why not give war a try. Really where is all this roleplaying, interactions, missions, and battling going to lead to in the end?
