Description: By pushing past normal human limitations, the user may gain the ability to manipulate paper. The paper can be used in extraordinary ways such as slicing through metals, creating animals to fight beside them, and even allow them to fly.
Limit: In order to gain the paper release, the user must first master wood release. The training of paper release must be role-played out and cannot be timeskipped.

[ 0 / 90 ] - First

The young male sat silently in an open field that was present within the City Capital itself. Well, today he decided to experiment. He was familiar with his affinity to Wood Ninjutsu and knew that he had become a master of it, being able to bring forth wood like chakra and form wood techniques on his very body. Though, there was a question that remained unanswered. If he could control and manipulate wood, could he stretch his manipulation abilities further and find out how to manipulate even paper? A concept such as this would truly farfetched, in honesty, Nagi had never heard of one who had the ability to manipulate even paper and such, he sort of doubted that he’d be able to achieve such a level of ninjutsu. However, he would not know if he didn’t try, that’s what he always told himself before.

So, Nagi decided to test himself regarding his ability concerning paper. He would simply have a mock fight with wooden clones if you will and test to see if he could manipulate paper during this sparring session. Handseals were performed with the youth’s hands and ending with the Ox Handseal. With that, three clones began forming around Nagi, amounts of wood morphing and forming themselves into an exact replica of Nagi himself. Upon seeing the clones’ formation completed, Nagi would simply nod at the three of them. He did because he was a mute, of course, it wasn’t like he could actually say anything to them. Giving the three clones a small smile, Nagi would simply assume a battle stance however it would be one that was extremely casual, characteristic to Nagi himself. When this happened, the clones would simply nod back at Nagi and assume their own stances. Narrowing his eyes at the three, Nagi watched as the three clones simply rushed at him, almost in an attempt to bulrush him. Twitching his mouth slightly, Nagi simply took a backstep away from them and right then and there, tried to utilize the paper. His chakra seeped out from out of him and then he tried to place it within the paper itself. However, a link between his chakra and his paper was unable to be established and only left Nagi surprised and confused.

Was it that complicated? It was only paper! It should be rather easy to just inject your chakra within the paper and simply manipulate it at will! Apparently, it wasn’t and Nagi found this out in the most inconvenient way. Rubbing his nose, Nagi turned his attention back to the wood clone opposition.

Alright, let’s try this again.

[ 0 / 90 ] - Second

The wood clones seemed to have known that simply bulrushing Nagi would not result in an easy victory and instead decided to revert to other tactics. There were wood clones in fact and thus wood ninjutsu would be of their speciality. However, just when they were going to begin their assault, Nagi raised an open hand in the air. The clones, seeing this, stopped and simply tilted their heads in a confused manner. Giving a short smile, Nagi nodded at the three of them, pointed to two and pointed over to the side. In all, he was asking if two of them could sit out for the moment so that Nagi could face one of the wood clones alone. He believed that would be able to increase his concentration and thus would make it easier on him to be able to manipulate the paper. He was an extreme beginner at the paper arts and thus, he should give himself a little leeway in order to allow him to be able to catch onto the concept and learn from it.

The wood clones were able to figure out what Nagi wanted and simply walked over to the side and observed. Giving them a thumbs-up as well as a thankful nod, Nagi turned his attention back to the sole wood clone in front of him. Nodding to it, telling it to have the first move, the clone wasted no time and began forming a short string of handseals. With the completion of these handseals, Nagi noticed several planks of wood being formed around the clone and then began levitating in the air, using the clone as a central axis. Nagi knew this technique, the Storming Plank Jutsu, a reputable jutsu for its number of attacks and versatility. Since he had knowledge of the technique, he knew that the clone would have fifty planks of wood at his disposal and that the clone would probably launch these planks of wood at Nagi himself, hoping to damage him.

Nagi’s predictions were correct once he saw the clone launch these planks of wood at him. Though he was fearful of the potential damage that the planks could do, Nagi was proficient in the art of being a Brawler, one who has developed their body to the non-technical arts of fighting. Seeing this, Nagi was pretty resilient to damage and was able to dull damage that would normally severely injure someone. Still, he didn’t necessarily want to get hit with any blows and thus used the rapid movement technique to help him evade the rapid collision of the wooden planks, Shunshin no Jutsu. Upon completion, the clone would be slightly confused about Nagi’s whereabouts and thus Nagi had an open shot at the clone.

Now was his chance.

[ 0 / 90 ] – Third

The link with his chakra and the paper resting within his backpack-like paper holster was attempted once again. However, Nagi added more chakra into the paper that he was trying to manipulate but he gauged the amount he injected in order to ensure that the paper wouldn’t burst from the sudden eruption of chakra. His chakra wandered about the paper, seeking to root itself from within it. Then, a sign. It felt like Nagi was connected with his paper, as if it were under his control. Also, with this injection of chakra, it felt like the paper had gotten stronger, almost as if it were actually capable of doing some damage to objects. Testing this observation, Nagi shot his left hand up into the air with his palm open. As this happened, the paper jolted forth from its holster and erupted straight into the air, mimicking the positioning and movement of Nagi’s arm. Extremely surprised of the outcome, Nagi wished to test the damage out specifically and sent the stream of paper at the clone with a horizontal movement of his arm.

The paper stream then quickly made its way to the wood clone who, by now, soon realized Nagi’s new position and thus had to now deal with a stream of paper heading towards it. However, it really couldn’t find the time to react and thus was decimated by the paper, being shredded into splinters of wood. Without him realizing it, Nagi’s eye twitched. The paper seemed to have gained the hardness and strength necessary in order to cut through wood! Wood was a relatively hard natural substance and seeing that PAPER could cut through it, it was simply amazing.

Of course, he did feel sorry for the wood clone’s demise and he honestly didn’t mean to jack it up that badly however it was a wood clone and thus it could easily be reformed again and again. Doing so, Nagi simply repeated the handseals necessary for the production of a wood clone and the clone easily formed again, although it had a pretty surprised look on its face seeing how it fell victim to the vast amounts of paper. Rubbing the top of his head, Nagi simply gave a short smirk before tilting his head over to the side where the other wood clones remained. The clone obliged and made its way over to the side while another wood clone stepped forward and decided to try its luck. Now that Nagi could do basic manipulations of paper, now he could possibly experiment and possibly find more functions of the paper.

[ 0 / 90 ] – Fourth

However, Nagi began to feel a little sleepy. It was expected, he did stay up pretty late the day before and thus he probably could use a bit of shut-eye. Rubbing his eyes and dismissing the wood clones, Nagi made sure that he had all of his stocks of paper with him before retreating to the hotel that he took up residence. Removing his casual brown shoes and socks, he curled himself in bed before falling asleep shortly afterwards. Minutes would pass by as the youth slumbered however intermission would take place, in the form of a dream.

Nagi stood in an open void, a completely blank space. The space then slowly transformed to that of the training field that Nagi had used for his paper training, the transformation of the area itself seemed to have emulated the training grounds perfectly. Confused, Nagi simply looked back and forth until a familiar noise filled his ears. His eyes turned to the corner of his eyes and he saw a torrent of paper shoot forth and began conglomerating together, shifting and forming into a creation. Nagi blinked his eyes for a moment before the paper seemed to form…a clone. Yes, it was a clone of Nagi himself except this clone seemed to carry quite sinister properties. The clone twitched its mouth in annoyance and stepped forward, narrowing the distance between Nagi and itself.

“Heh. So, you want to go into the renounced paper arts huh? You honestly think you have what it takes to endure such devotion and training?!” the clone spat. Nagi simply stepped back and remained silent. Not simply because he was a mute but he honestly didn’t have an answer to the clone’s question. Thinking for a moment, Nagi looked back up at the clone and simply nodded his head. He believed that he was strong and intelligent enough to comprehend the complexity of paper manipulation but the clone still thought otherwise.

“Tch, I don’t think you are and I’m not allowing someone who isn’t qualified to become part of the extremely small league of those who can manipulate Paper if they cannot express that they truly believe that they are qualified. And you know what Nagi? I think it’s in there somewhere but I’m just going to have to force it out of you. Well, if you don’t bring forth that determination you claim you have, I’ll kill you. Simple as that!” the clone stated, making its advancement upon Nagi.

However, Nagi still had that surprised and horrified look about him for a moment before lowering his eyelids back into that lazy fashion of his and simply assumed a ready stance. He wasn’t ready to just flop over and die yet and also, he had to prove to the clone that he was VERY qualified to be able to go into the paper arts.

No backing down now.

[ 0 / 90 ] – Fifth

The clone seemed kind of shaken by Nagi’s somewhat calm reaction to its threat however that only fueled and supplied its anger. Grinning, the clone shot its hand forth, sending a torrent of paper heading Nagi’s way. Seeing this, Nagi attempted to counteract with a paper torrent of his own and shot his hand out in the same manner as the clone. However, there was a small problem. Nagi didn’t even have any paper on him so his intent would soon be nulled due to the fact that he didn’t have sufficient materials. Biting his lip, Nagi managed to side-step out of the way and began forming his own handseals. Wood chakra flowed through his chakra circulatory system as planks of wood began forming from the earth around Nagi’s position, using him as the central axis for the formation. The planks were then formed and they all levitated in the air, awaiting the signal to begin their assault. With a single outburst of chakra, the planks were hurled the clones’ way, hoping to stave him off a little bit.

However, seeing the planks of wood head towards it, the clone would only chuckle as it quickly summoned the paper back to itself and caused to circle around it rapidly. Upon doing so, as soon as the planks came in touch with the spinning tornado of paper, it was easily shred apart and decimated as the planks of wood stood no chance against the paper. This process continued until all fifty planks were only scattered splinters amongst the training field. This shocked Nagi, his wood Ninjutsu would now be proven useless against the paper.

“Honestly, you thought that would work?” the clone sneered as it soon formed a large greatsword out of the paper. The greatsword itself did look exactly like one, the realism generated by the paper was extremely baffling. Then, the clone made its way towards Nagi, raising the great sword high in order to cleave through Nagi. Of course, his reflexes and instinct told him to move but Nagi couldn’t, it was as if his body was rooted to the ground. Struggling and struggling, he sought to find his sense of mobility but all of his effort would go to waste. There, he could only stand and watch as the clone got into striking range, raised the sword high into the air and sent it screaming towards Nagi’s chest.

He couldn’t watch, Nagi closed his eyes. He wanted the pain to be swift and just and hopefully survive the blow though that in itself was highly unlikely. He just wanted it to be over already. Perhaps he truly wasn’t cut out for the paper arts…

[ 0 / 90 ] - Sixth

His body shot up with face slightly covered in sweat. His hands grasped his bucket hat and repeatedly patted it all over. He was alive…so it was only a dream. Sighing greatly, Nagi stretched across the bed and set himself up. The true difficulty of mastering paper was now obvious to him, more effort would have to be placed within learning about the nature of paper if Nagi wanted to stand even the slightest chance of fully mastering it. Still, the whole subject concerning Nagi learning paper really seemed to have put a toll on him and instead Nagi wanted to relax for a while. Particularly, he hadn’t eaten in a while so he decided that getting something to eat would calm his mind. Putting on his brown casual shoes and making sure that he was presentable, Nagi left his hotel room and slowly made his way towards the front of the building. However, in the hallway, there were paper streams that somewhat hid the recesses of the hotel from view and Nagi was soon coming towards these paper strips.

Seeing this, Nagi extended his left hand and maintained a connection with his chakra and the paper strips. Simply spreading his chakra apart, the paper strips spread apart also, allowing Nagi clear access to the front of the building. After passing these paper strips, he simply disconnected his chakra from the strips, causing them to sway back to their original positioning. Exiting through the front door, Nagi simply stood out in the streets as he looked back and forth, deciding upon which direction to go to. Before he could react, a newspaper seemed to have blown past the youth as the wind seemed to carry the numerous pieces of paper away. Turning around, Nagi noticed that a man seemed to be chasing after the paper, frantically trying to recover the bits of information printed upon them. Turning his attention back to the paper, Nagi simply extended his hand and split his chakra up equally amongst the escaping pieces of newspaper. Once the link had been established, the paper simply stopped tumbling away and merely froze there, completely under Nagi’s control.

Blinking his eyes a little, Nagi coaxed the paper to gather in his open hand where he then lightly grasped them and handed them to the individual that was standing right beside him, apparently flabbergasted by Nagi’s ability to control the paper from afar. The man however did have manners and thus thanked Nagi for assisting him in the retrieval of the paper. Giving a short smile and a nod, Nagi simply turned around and headed down the street, hoping to find a restaurant that would fit his tastes.

[ 0 / 90 ] – Seventh

Nagi had found an applicable restaurant to soothe his obvious hunger and thus took residence inside the restaurant. Sitting down at an empty table, a menu was already laid out upon the table. Stretching his hand outward again, his chakra fluttered through the paper menu and flipped through the pages at Nagi’s whim as he tried to locate the meal that he would like to eat. Fish and chips sounded nice to him at the moment so he just decided to get that. After he placed his order, he simply waited silently and twiddled his thumbs, awaiting his order to come out fresh and steaming hot that he could cease his stomach’s loud protesting. A few minutes passed by and his meal finally came out. Grinning to the waitress, Nagi grabbed a fork with his left hand and began eating. However, he wouldn’t be able to eat for long before the entrance of a certain someone.

It was a large Hoshigake, around 6’3 who carried a large sword on his side. Apparently, he looked hungry or was that just the sign of him wanting to cause trouble…Whatever it was, it didn’t take long before he marched straight up to the main counter and started demanding that he receive a free buffet for whatever reason, Nagi wasn’t listening hard enough. Of course, when the owner obliged that the Hoshigake simply pay for a meal like everyone else, it seemed like the Hoshigake was going to take drastic measures to ensure that he’d receive his free meal. Gripping the sword, he slowly unsheathed it as he put it to the owner’s throat, threatening that he’d simply just cleave off his head and eat that instead. Even Nagi shuddered at the remark, getting your head eaten by a huge shark man didn’t seem like the perfect way to go. Still, he had to intervene in this matter. Stepping up, Nagi retrieved a paper card from one of his holsters and put it between his fingers. It didn’t take long for him to install chakra within the thin material before he hurled it the Hoshigake’s way. The card seemed to slice the Hoshigake’s cheek, causing crimson fluid to slowly ooze from the cut.

Enraged and surprised, the Hoshigake whipped his head and his milky-white eyes were focused on his assailant. The Hoshigake then stormed towards Nagi and literally looked down upon the 4’11 eighteen year old.

“So, I guess you would rather take the beating rather than the old man up there, you wanna take this outside?” he said, awaiting Nagi to simply cower and run as far away as possible from the monster.

Instead, Nagi simply jumped upon the table and stood as high as possible, as if so he was on the same level as the Hoshigake. Adjusting his bucket hat, he merely gave a smirk and a lowering of the eyelids.

Bring it on.

[ 0 / 90 ] – Eight

So, the two of them stepped outside of the restaurant as a whole crowd came along with them in order to watch the rising conflict. Rubbing his neck, Nagi didn’t necessarily like the idea of having to fight someone however this guy really wasn’t the nicest person in the world so beating him down a bit might allow some manners to diffuse into his thick skull. However, he knew it wouldn’t be that easy, as much as Nagi hoped it would. The Hoshigake seemed to not wait for Nagi to ready himself and as such, his blue and white splotched hands began forming handseals. His hand came to his mouth as he took a deep breath and spat out a large ball of water in which it steadily made its way towards Nagi. Nagi already knew that Hoshigake were extremely skilled within Water Ninjutsu, seeing that Sea Country was practically full of them. Still, Nagi wasn’t a pushover. Despite his small size, he could take quite a beating, possibly more than the average shinobi. Bracing for impact, he took the Water Ball head on but the damage was severely reduced, mostly by Nagi’s knowledge of reducing damage as well as just Nagi’s toughness as a whole.

The crowd was rather shocked at Nagi taking the ninjutsu head-on and thought that would simply be the end of the fight right there. However, it wasn’t and as the water dissipated, Nagi was still standing in his defensive position. He simply shaked his head a little bit and looked back up at the Hoshigake who was, quite simply, shocked. Smiling at the Hoshigake’s reaction, Nagi extended his hand upward and began forming a square of paper, about two meters in length and width. After that, he injected more chakra into the paper, causing it to spin rapidly. Once the paper cube was spinning at a good speed, Nagi lowered his hand and pointed the open palm at the Hoshigake. The paper cube then shot at the Hoshigake, seeking to cause paper cuts on a whole new level.

The Hoshigake wasn’t completely ignorant to the paper’s power and knew that it was even able to give decently-sized cuts. Grinning wide and showing his massive incisors, he simply disappeared from view. Nagi was extremely surprised by the sudden disappearance of the large brute and simply called for his paper cube to cease progressing forward. Then, out of nowhere, the Hoshigake appeared right in front of the young male, sword already raised high above his head.

The situation wasn’t turning out good.

[ 0 / 90] – Nine

So what was Nagi supposed to do? Well, dodging the sword would be extremely nice but that was a difficult feat. However, there was a way out of this and all he had to do was to just get him near the paper. Sidestepping out of the way of the incoming blade, Nagi stepped into the Hoshigake’s guard and jumped upward. His fist reared back and then flew towards the Hoshigake’s face as he used one of his Signature Blows, the Deadly Blow. A punch as hard as Nagi’s could easily knock someone out unconscious and could even break bones along with that. Since Nagi was already in the Hoshigake’s guard, he could do nothing but watch as the fist collided into his face. As his fist sinked into the Hoshigake’s cheek, Nagi exerted all of his strength and finally followed through the punch, causing the Hoshigake to go sailing backward.

Since his chakra link with the paper was disconnected, the paper simply laid idly on the ground in an assorted pile. Waiting as the Hoshigake neared the paper pile and as soon as he was right over it, Nagi reestablished the chakra link and caused the paper to shoot upwards. Unfortunate for the Hoshigake, the paper simply gave him a wide assortment of cuts as the paper slid across his skin. Finally falling to the ground, the Hoshigake was in obvious pain though he was still alive. The crowd simply gasped and all eyes were glued onto the Mute, Nagi. Covering his mouth with a hand, Nagi quickly rushed over to the Hoshigake’s side and located all of the sources of wounds. Though the Hoshigake was an enemy, Nagi was still a Medic. Rubbing his nose, his hands quickly collected the healing chakra necessary and he began healing the wounds that the paper dealt upon the individual. It didn’t take long before the wounds were finally healed and only time would allow the Hoshigake to come out of his state of unconsciousness.

Still, Nagi was proud of himself for the fact that he was finally able to properly manipulate paper and that this step in the paper arts would only foreshadow his future success. Summoning all of the paper back into their respective holsters, Nagi adjusted his bucket hat before looking around for a moment and silently leaving the scene. Talk was sure to spring within the City’s Capital about the really short kid that can make paper do crazy stuff.

But, that attention only came with success, he supposed. However, Nagi wasn’t necessarily seeking attention…

Description: There are 3 ranks to paper manipulation. Each rank has its own name and variation but each form allows a user access to more advanced capabilities.
• Paper Adept - "C" Rank - This is the basic paper manipulation where everyone must start. With this rank of knowledge a user can manipulate pieces of paper in a simple form within the range of tiny to small size. Simple forms range from weapons such as needles or basic rods. At this stage the user is capable of manipulating paper within a radius of ten meters.
• Paper Origami - "B" Rank - This is the intermediate form of manipulation. Upon achieving this rank, ones creations receive an origami feel to its creation. Utilizing ones own chakra, a user is capable of creating paper objects or animals within the origami realm. At this rank, a user is capable of manipulating paper within the range of medium to large size. At this stage the user is capable of manipulating paper within a radius of thirty meters.
• Paper Master - "A" Rank - This is the final level of paper manipulation. One is capable of taking multiple pieces of paper to create something of almost life like value. With this, one is capable of creating things within the range of huge to Gargantuan size. When the user learns this rank, they are capable of manipulating paper within a fifty meter radius.

So now that Nagi could actually manipulate paper, he had to learn how to refine his manipulation of paper so that he could go on to greater things than just throwing paper around. In order to increase his understanding of paper, he had to push his limits. Of course, he was already pushing the human body’s limitations by manipulating paper itself but this manipulation had to go further, it had to become stronger and Nagi had to develop a deeper connection with his paper. After all, Paper was probably going to be Nagi’s main type of release Ninjutsu and without a doubt, his strongest. Even though the Paper Adept had the least amount of skill in the mysterious manipulation of paper, Nagi had to start somewhere. With a flick of his wrist, pieces of paper would rise from his backpack holster and simply remain levitated in front of him. Looking at the wide variety of green and brown paper, Nagi began performing basic offensive and defensive maneuvers with them.

Offensive maneuvers included sending the paper in a complete stream or splitting them into separate streams. A full stream of paper would be best for hitting a single target with a maximum amount of power upon a single impact while splitting the paper up into separate streams would make it easier to hit a rather evasive target or to bypass defenses. Defensive maneuvers mainly consisted of forming a makeshift barrier of paper in front of himself though this barrier could be formed from different positions and angles. This process would be repeated for a couple of minutes in order to ensure that Nagi could perform basic operations with the paper and still, even though the operations weren’t too difficult, this was paper he was dealing with and controlling paper itself took an awful lot of chakra control.

The cycle of paper maneuvers and manipulation didn’t take long to complete and before he knew it, Nagi seemed to be performing the cycles quite well and somewhat without much effort put into it. Seeing this, he summoned the paper and stored them into their respective holsters. Sitting down, Nagi soon started to dream and guess what the future of his paper skills held. He didn’t know ANYONE else who had the ability to manipulate paper but surely, there had to be some out there. Maybe his paper could get hard enough to the point where it could cut through any metal imaginable, being impenetrable. Maybe his paper would get to the point where it wouldn’t take damage whatsoever from the outside elements. So many maybe’s but in order to get to the answers pulled from the mysteries surrounding paper, more devotion would be needed and this devotion would reveal more answers to Nagi, something that he wanted pretty damn badly.

Even though Nagi had a decent understanding of paper manipulation, it was still at a very basic level. He had to further push his human limitations and further transcend into the workings of paper. Nagi’s briefcase would be settled right across from him and his holsters will still be in their respective places on his body. He still chose the open field that he had continued to use for all of his training for all he could remember and also, there would be no reason to abruptly change training fields now. Scratching the back of his neck, the young male simply sat there a moment before rising to his feet and brushing himself off. He gave himself plenty of room to work with since that the training itself would require pretty much most of the training field.

The next level of paper was unknown to Nagi however he took a wild guess and believed that he should be able to create more realistic objects than before. For now, he could only create extremely basic shapes such as needles and rods. With this, he should gain greater access to the recesses of Paper’s Secrets and thus, get stronger at the same time. With a flick of the wrist, a single piece of paper burst from the leather suitcase that Nagi had with him constantly and the paper landed ever so gently in Nagi’s hands. His mind wondered on what he could construct with a single piece of paper and he finally came upon the conclusion that it’d be best if he practiced creating weaponry. Not like Nagi was a violent person but creating weaponry from paper would probably be most beneficial to him since he could actually use these paper weaponry at some point and time when he finally became more skilled with in the Paper Release.

Hands began to construct a kunai, one of the most basic ninja tools. Nagi really hadn’t strove in the art of Origami but he had a basic idea of how a kunai looked like and how to fold and manipulate the paper in order to form a replica of this object. It took an actual bit of focus during this first attempt since Nagi was using his chakra in conjunction with the paper folding in order to speed the process up but as one could assume, he was never used to working at such a speed and thus the speed-folding possessed a bit of difficulty to him. Minutes would pass until Nagi was able to produce a decent replica of a kunai. There were some rough edges here and there but it looked like the real thing, albeit it was in origami form and made out of paper after all. Still, the fact that Nagi was able to complete this task showed promise.

The paper would still be in between Nagi’s fingers and by doing so, the paper will graze the young male’s fingers as he’d grow accustomed to the smooth surface of the paper. Twiddling the paper in between his fingers, he’d continue to work on another weapon of choice from the basic ninja tool assortment, in particular, the shuriken. He wouldn’t attempt to make a windmill shuriken due to the fact that the windmill shuriken is a more advanced form of just a regular shuriken. Upon seeing this, the windmill shuriken would be more difficult to make and produce than just a regular old shuriken and thus Nagi wasn’t confident in his paper abilities just yet to attempt to create a tool of such complexity. However, as time would go by, the male’s skills would improve and then making such a weapon would pose little or no challenge whatsoever.

Nagi’s hands would continue to move to and fro as he continued to fold and move the paper about. In his mind, he continued to keep an image of what a basic shuriken looked like in order to use it as a guide in his creation of the paper replica. It wasn’t like Nagi didn’t know what a shuriken looked like but it did help in creating a paper counterpart. He had two points of the shuriken done now and there were only three more to complete. Again, chakra was used in order to somewhat speed up the process however the male found that his fingers were slowly getting fatigued due to lactic acid build-up, for he was not accustomed to performing origami at a speed such as this, as already stated before. However, he would not quit or take a break, he took the time out of his day to hurry up and master the technique and that’s exactly what he would be doing.

A couple of moments was all the male would need before the shuriken would be completed. The design of the shuriken mimicked that of an iron shuriken almost perfectly and as such, the replica seemed to have been a success overall. Feeling more confident in his abilities, Nagi decided that he was ready to go onto greater and more complicated maneuvers. In fact, he believed that besides him trying to make his paper creations appear more realistic, his general ability of paper manipulation should rise as well. As such, there would be only one indicator for this assertion.

With that, the male would begin to form handseals. These handseals were very common to him due to the fact that they were part of the Wood chakra nature, the chakra nature that he could safely say that he was a master of. With the completion of these memorable handseals, wood began to sprout around the youth and began to curl and grow. Nagi’s dark-brown eyes remained glued onto the new wooden creations as they began forming into exact clones of Nagi, save for the fact that they were made of wood. Being the mute that he is, Nagi simply nodded at the new creations and pointed at the suitcase full of paper located next to him as well as the various paper holsters that he wore. Nodding again, he gave a thumbs-up to the trio, stating that he needed their help in order for him to improve and mature within the Paper Arts.

The clones obliged and assumed their battle stance as usual. Sitting his suitcase down, Nagi stretched for a moment before watching as the clones back-stepped away from Nagi and started forming handseals of their own. Nagi knew that they were forming handseals and took this into consideration. Maintaining a constant chakra link with the paper, all three thousand sheets of paper burst from the suitcase and began orbiting above Nagi, awaiting their commands as usual. From each of the wood clones, six branches sprouted forth from the earth and shot towards Nagi , seeking to restrain or damage him one way or the other. Nagi wouldn’t move, he wouldn’t need too. With a swift movement of the arm, the paper lowered their orbit to right around Nagi and began to slice through the wood just like a sharpened axe. Of course, the paper would be considered superior in terms of durability as opposed to the wood and thus the reason why the wood was destroyed so easily and effortlessly.

Moving the paper to their original orbital above himself, Nagi smirked slightly in order to tease the clones. In all honesty, he didn’t mean any ill-will but just the feel of controlling the paper was ultimately pretty badass. Taking a seemingly harmless object and turning into a destructive force to be reckoned with sure felt empowering as well as satisfying. As much as Nagi deterred from destruction, there were plenty of crazy-ass people out there who simply won’t listen to rationale and the best alternative to whip them into shape was beating them down the old-fashioned way.

And thus, one of the reasons why Nagi is training in the first place.

For a moment, Nagi felt that his paper-natured chakra erupted. You know, when you start up a flame and you get that first initial spark of heat, that’s how it felt like except maybe a little bit stronger. He was confused about the eruption of chakra at first but then, he finally concluded that it was his body somewhat adjusting to the new acquisition of paper chakra since, as already stated before, Nagi was getting stronger and more skilled at manipulating the paper. However, he still had a matter on his hands. The wood clones would still have to be dealt with and he had not taken out any of them. Focusing back onto the paper that laid before him, he’d continue to make the paper orbit around him rapidly, almost like he was surrounded by a tornado of cellulose.

The wood clones weren’t stupid by any means. Already seeing what the paper did to their wood jutsu, they were hesitant about attacking and as such, they would simply remain on the defensive and wait for Nagi’s attack. Seeing this, Nagi simply shrugged. He knew that the wood clones weren’t going to try and charge him in an attempt to bulldoze through the paper and defensive action seemed like the most plausible choice of action for the wood clones. Because of this, it’d be best if Nagi went on the offensive besides, it’d help him with his paper manipulation anyways. Still, the whirl of cellulose would orbit around Nagi since he hadn’t given any other commands to the paper yet, he was still trying to devise some sort of plan in order to defeat all of the wood clones in a fair sweep. Finally, an idea emerged within his mind and he was ready to take action.

A thrust of the arm upward and the paper would follow the same path as the arm had taken. The paper conglomerated together and started morphing themselves into a creation. As you could imagine, seeing three thousand pieces of paper forming around each other would be an interesting site and for a moment there, the four would simply watch as the paper soon began to fold and curl into the creation that Nagi so desired. Then, the paper soon turned themselves into a large cylinder shape, almost mimicking that of a roller that bakers used in order to roll and flatten their dough creations. Smiling to himself, Nagi was surprised that he was able to make the paper form on the first try and also do it so quickly since he hadn’t been used to forming paper as speeds displayed such as now.

Now, it’d be time to execute the attack.

The cylinder of paper would still remain levitated in mid air, with several columns of paper making revolutions within the cylinder itself thus producing a somewhat loud whishing sound. Still, maintaining the paper cylinder did require quite a bit of chakra and as such, Nagi had some trouble sending the paper cylinder the wood clone’s way. You could see the mild strain on his face since exerting chakra into multiple pieces of paper would surely do a number on someone’s chakra reserves. However, due to Nagi being a medic, his chakra control was much more precise than any other ninja and thus, the drain of his chakra reserves was much slower in comparison to other types of ninja. Finally, you would see the strain slowly disappear from Nagi’s face as he felt that he finally had control over the massive cylinder of paper. Even adding more potential damage to the cylinder, he exerted more chakra into the cylinder’s specific rows of revolving paper. Doing this, the whishing sound produced by the paper would become much louder than before and somewhat advertised the obvious potential that the large paper cylinder had.

Finally ready to unleash his attack, Nagi swung his arm down and pointed his open palm at the three wood clones. Obeying his command, the paper cylinder made contact with the earth and began rolling its way towards the wood clones. Even though the cylinder was large, it actually moved at a surprising speed, possibly faster than a sprinting ninja. This was possibly because of the chakra inputted into the paper and thus the paper cylinder somewhat used the stored chakra as “thrusters” in order to gain the speed necessary to successfully collide into their target. As already stated before, you would see the large paper cylinder head towards the defensive wood clones and you would also see a somewhat surprised and nervous look upon the wood clone’s faces. However, it would possibly be the normal reaction if one saw a large cylinder of paper rolling at them at incredible speeds.

The wood clones weren’t stunned enough or idiotic enough to challenge the obvious strength of the paper and thus stood next to each other. Their hands each formed the exact same handseals and the ground around them began to shake for a moment. Suddenly, planks of wood would sprout from the ground and each clone would form a hard wooden barrier, fully surrounding them and protecting them from a wide variety of attacks. Nagi was very familiar with the strength of the paper and wasn’t surprised to see the paper disperse upon impact once the cylinder collided into these three “Wood Locking Walls.”

Nagi wouldn’t experience anger or frustration. In fact, he’d feel thankful that he was able to see the faults in his paper manipulation. Even though that his paper manipulation surely had improved, the paper itself still wasn’t strong enough to penetrate through defenses and in order to get the true usefulness out of paper, his paper had to be one of the hardest substances ever known. So strong that it could cut through offenses and defenses like butter. But could the paper really get that strong? Nagi wasn’t sure but he was glad that his abilities have transcended and that he was able to control paper on a whole new level.

The paper was about twenty meters away from Nagi’s position and before, if the paper was that far away, Nagi would have no chance of retracting and controlling the paper via chakra. He could strain and exert as much chakra as he wanted but the chakra link established between the paper and his chakra wasn’t strong enough. Now was a different story. With a flick of the wrist, the paper trembled across the earth before shooting off into the air and back to Nagi. As he did before, he made the paper orbit above him in a circle for he had adopted as his stationary paper positioning. It offered quick offensive reactions by shooting off selective pieces of paper as well as defensive reactions for if the opponent tried to pull a fast one on Nagi , he could simply shift the orbital of paper downwards and effectively block the attack and if the opponent tried to engage Nagi in a battle of Taijutsu, the paper would simply rip them apart. Still, that’d be a pretty disgusting sight to see someone mutilated by a storm of paper but then again, they were asking for it probably.

The paper would still be cycling through their route above Nagi’s head until Nagi decided that it was time to holster the paper away for now however he used this opportunity in order to showcase the growth of his abilities. Abruptly, the paper erupted into the air, almost as if a bomb had gone enough and scattered the paper straight up into the air. Then, all three thousand pieces of paper formed a single, narrow stream and bolted downwards towards the leather briefcase. Casually opening the leather briefcase, Nagi watched patiently as the three thousand pieces of paper began to flow uniformly into the leather briefcase, stacking and arranging themselves perfectly for easy travel and storage. With the packing done, Nagi simply fastened the metal clasps and sat on the ground.

Man, that was tight.
