The water flowing through the boy's hand resonated with his chakra. The premise of the technique was simple enough, though Atsy wondered just how practical the jutsu really was. Regardless, the boy had plans and this was the first step to realizing those plans.

While the water began to form its shape, the boy focused his chakra to pressurize the jutsu. The water whip materialized quickly, looking like a rope like blob of water in the boy's hand. The jutsu did not have a detailed appearance, but for its purposes it worked just fine. Or at least the boy hoped it would, since the next step was to test the jutsu.

With the whip in hand, Atsy began to walk the forest in search of an opponent to practice his jutsu with. The air was getting cold and damp as the boy walked on, searching for anyone or anything that he could justify beating with the weapon.

*RAWR!*

The boy jumped when he heard the terrifying roar coming at him. He turned as quickly as he could to assess the danger, but he was too slow to dodge the giant paw that swatted him into a tree. Atsy groaned as he hit his head when he impacted, struggling to keep his wits about him. His opponent was a large horned bear, the likes of which he had never seen in the forest before.

The bear and the boy stared at one another, the former standing on its hind legs at ten feet tall while the latter struggled to get to his feet and defend himself. Atsy had wanted something to fight with his new jutsu, but now the boy wondered if he would not have been better off just hitting a tree for practice. Regardless, it was too late. Atsy cracked his whip as he stood, determined to teach the beast a lesson.

The beast charged with a deafening cry as the boy crouched down into a more stable stance. As the bear came closer, it made a swipe with its enormous paw, trying to bat the boy away as it had before. This time however, Atsy was fully prepared for his opponents powerful but slow attack and leapt away from the attack at the last moment, striking with his whip as he did.

The whip wrapped around the bear's neck as Atsy fell to the ground, pulling the animal backwards with the boy. Or that had been Atsy's plan, but the boy had foolishly not accounted for the bear weighing three times as much as he did and instead the bear continued its charge forward; this time dragging the boy behind him.

There would not be much time for the boy if the bear continued to drag him and of that Atsy was well aware. Thinking quickly, he pulled out some of the wire he had in his pouch, attaching it to a kunai and throwing it at a tree trunk. The wire wrapped around the trunk and the boy tied the wire to his water whip before letting go of the whip himself.

The whip would dissipate a few seconds after the boy released his grip on it, but the boy knew that it would remain intact long enough for it to choke the bear backwards. In the mean time, the boy made his hand seals again, attempting to draw enough water for another whip from the puddles around him. It was a long shot, but it was also the boy's only chance of beating the bear without resorting to other jutsu.

A water whip appeared in the boy's hands almost as soon as he finished his seals, but unlike the thick mass that had been at the boy's disposal the first time, the jutsu was only half the size. It was to be expected as there was not much water to utilize, but it still worried the boy a little. Either way, Atsy would have to move before the bear got up.

Bear was already getting up as the boy dashed at the creature with his whip. Before it could fully get on all four paws, Atsy lashed at the beast ten times, hoping to either dissuade it from attacking him again or actually injure it enough to finish it. The blows all connected with the bear, causing multiple lacerations on hits torso and face. Instead of being detered however, the creature simple reared its ugly head again at the boy, now intent on killing its prey.

The whip cracked repeatedly as the bear continued to try to swipe at Atsy. The boy was keeping his distance from his foe, not daring to make a mistake at close range. One blow might kill the boy if it hit him in just the right way and Atsy did not really feel like haunting a bear for the rest of eternity.

Another paw swiped at Atsy as he continued to move backwards while striking the bear's face with his whip. By now the creatures snout was a bloody mess and its right eye had been taken out. The hunter was no longer thinking rationally and had fallen into a blind rage which left numerous openings for Atsy to take advantage of. It was a battle of attrition and the young shinobi felt confident as the fight drew on that he could come out victorious.

What Atsy had not realized was that the bear, while blinded by rage, had unwittingly pushed him onto the ledge of a high stony cliff. All too late the boy noticed the change in his surroundings as he continued to lash out at his opponent, desperately trying to push him back. It all seemed cliche to the boy, an epic battle on top of a high cliff, but the reality of the situation was not lost to Atsy either. He would either have to get on the safer side of the terrain or resort to using a finishing jutsu.

The former felt more appropriate to the boy and as the bear raised its paw for another swipe at the boy, Atsy cracked his whip, wrapping it around the bear's raised paw. Then, pulling as hard as he could, the boy launched himself over the bear with the whip, getting back on the safer side of the cliff.

All that could be heard afterward was the cracking of the striking whip. Furiously the boy attacked his assailant, determined to put the creature down for good. Blow after blow struck, cutting and ripping flesh and fur from the beast. Yet still, the beast refused to submit to the boy's will and instead reared itself on its hind legs. Atsy gritted his teeth in frustration, his desire for training having died long ago in the fight. He had no wish to kill the creature, but at this point there would not be much of a choice left. Already the bear was bleeding profusely from a multitude of deep wounds that would either bleed out or become infected.

Atsy would have to finish the bear of that he was sure. The only question that remained was how he should go about performing such a task. While the boy had other jutsu that would be useful for finishing the battle, it felt strange to not conclude the fight with the jutsu he had committed to for the last few hours. Atsy struck out again.

Suiton: Mahou Mizu Misairu Renda no Jutsu (Water Release: Magic Water Missile Barrage Technique)

Description: User focuses her chakra into tiny bits of water, condensing them to form nearly-solid balls while still retaining their liquid properties. The balls levitate in the air, much like in the system invovled with her Ochiru Ame no Jutsu. The balls will then fly at the opponent, and depending on the amount of chakra used to throw them, the "Missiles" can easily dent thick metal armor or to knock down wooden doors on metal hinges. When a "missile" strikes an oponent, the chakra holding the water together will release into the atmosphere, causing the water to loose its ball-like shape and revert back into flowing water. Only 10 missiles can be created at a time, but when one is used, another can be instantly recreated for an additional cost in chakra.

“Water jutsu training day… Um, whatever.”

Erith’s fingers continued to wiggly as the woman suspended the ten floating marble sized water droplets above her hand.

“Today’s jutsu is called the Mahou Mizu Sisairu Renda no Jutsu, but for short we’re going to cal it Mahou.”

The woman looked bored as she spoke, as if she did not really care about the training. It was confusing to the patient boy; his mother loved training him. Still, Atsy decided not to press the issue. If he kept his mouth shut, hopefully Erith would not feel the need to spar during this training.

“First I’m going to show you how to perform the jutsu,” Erith said plainly. “Then we’re going to spar using it.”

Atsy groaned inside as his mother finished her sentence. It was not that he did not like sparring, but the way she was, sparring meant a full out everything he had fight. His training was more brutal than when the village had been attacked the prior month.

Erith nodded towards her son, signaling him to start his jutsu. The boy, not surprisingly, had no trouble creating the droplets after making his hand seals. With all his training in Itomizu and Ochiru Ame, this jutsu was just an easy way to teach the boy an offensive technique before they started on harder jutsu.

The duo stood and faced one another in the dreary grey light of the day. Water droplets floated threateningly in either person’s hand, mother and son both wondering who would strike first. The tension was thick as they waited, so thick that Atsy could actually feel it. His breathe was quickening from anxiety, his need to know when his mother would strike.

Minutes passed though to Atsy it felt like an eternity. It was torturing him, every second he watched the deadly droplets rotate in his mother’s hand. He wanted her to strike at him, to make the first move so that he could find an opening and win. Of course there would be no such imaginary opening, but the boy’s mind was clouded with anxiety.

Droplets flew from the boy’s hand as his mind snapped from the tension. The droplets shot like bullets at Erith, all ten flying in a group towards the woman’s face. The woman observed the straight forward attack with interest. Interest that was quickly thrown away as the woman shot her own droplets to hit the boy’s attack, canceling the two out.

Atsy moved quickly as his mother made her defensive counter and formed new droplets, shooting them at his mother as soon as they formed. One after another the droplets flew through the air, straight at the defenseless woman’s body. Erith did not miss a beat of the battle rhythm however, and as soon as she had countered the boy’s first attack, she began her hand seals for another jutsu. As the second wave of pellets moved at Erith’s body, she began to spew water from her mouth; water that became a liquid wall of protection. The wall absorbed the boy’s attack but Erith did not notice as she was already creating new water droplets of her own, five in each hand, to fire at her son.

The droplets that came from Erith’s second counter attack on her son were far more effective than Atsy’s attack. While the boy had fired ten in a shotgun blast in his first attack and had been making single droplets one after another at his mother, Erith had split her production. This allowed her to make two in each of her hands as she fired two droplets for the boy’s every one.

Atsy twisted his body in strange angles to dodge the counter attack. He continued to fire his own droplets, but as he had anticipated, Erith had much more practice at the jutsu and was not only more accurate than he was, but also significantly more efficient at creating and utilizing the droplets. Atsy tried to think quickly on what he could to do save himself from a great deal of unnecessary pain.

Meanwhile, Erith pushed her son further and further into the corner, her firing increasing from two droplets at a time to five each shot. As the woman released one handful of water at the boy, her free hand created another five droplets as reserves. Furiously she worked on her attack, throwing handful after handful at the boy.

The epiphany came to Atsy as he continued to dodge his mother’s relentless attacks. While it was true that she had increased her attack by releasing five droplets at once, Atsy wondered just how quickly he could form the water jutsu. His only chance would be to make droplets faster than his mother, or make more droplets at the same rate she could. To Atsy, the latter seemed more practical.

Ten droplets formed in Atsy’s hand as he focused on his attack. The attack flew at the woman, interrupting her own attack for a mere moment. The moment that Atsy had hoped for. As the first attack flew at his mother, Atsy began to form the replacements in his off hand. The boy would copy his mother’s technique, but he would have more droplets and he would create them faster. As it was, the first attack of ten had forced his mother to block with her own ten drops, and while she would only take less than a second to make new ones, Atsy already had his next ten half formed.

Again the boy fired a ten drop blast at his mother, this time forcing her to physically dodge. He had the upper hand for once and Atsy hoped that he could keep it.

Atsy's heart raced as he pushed his mother backwards. He could not believe that he was going to win the spar. It all seemed too unreal to be true... and it was.

Erith smirked as her son continued to launch his onslaught of water droplets at her. While she was dodging his attacks, the woman began a set of hand seals. A water clone burst to her side with a splash and it immediately began to launch itself into the Mahou jutsu.

The boy growled in frustration as his mother's counter attack doubled and pushed through his own attack. He had given her a chance to best him. To make the situation worse, Erith was no longer using her hands to control the water jutsu but instead was moving her hands into another jutsu as she assaulted her son.

Without thinking Atsy moved his own hands into seals for a jutsu, his own attack continuing without the boy consciously noticing. If his mother was going to make water clones to increase her offense, so would he. Two clones appeared next to Atsy and began to wave their arms in an Itomizue Suijinheki movement. Water strings flew through the air and began knocking the droplets out of the air as the boy and his clones continued to launch water droplets at the woman.

Erith laughed out loud at her son's plan. It original to say the least, but ultimately futile. While the water strings blocked her attack, they also limited where the boy's own attacks could go. The mother dashed forward and grabbed her son by the collar of his shirt and picking him up off of the ground.

"Nice try," she said affectionately as the clones around the two dissipated back into water.

Daibakuryuu no Jutsu - Great Exploding Current

Limit: Water Release, must have a lake, or a grand water source, more so then a normal water technique.

The boy ran across the lake in a sprint as his opponent trailed closely behind. The fight was drawing out much longer than the young man had anticipated and unless Atsy found a way to capture his opponent, he would lose the fight.

As quickly as he could, Atsy made hand seals for his Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu as he ran. The clones formed under the waves of the water, five copies lurking in the depths until the boy could initiate his plan. The opponent did not seem to notice the formation of the clones, only the hand seals the boy had made and had given Atsy some distance. The boy laughed at the man’s foolishness.

Beneath the water, one of the clones began a string of hand seals while Atsy began another jutsu of his own. He had never used it before, but the boy remembered a jutsu that his mother had shown him when he was a young child. It was the Great Exploding Current technique and with it Atsy was sure he could catch his opponent off guard.

Atsy held the last seal of the jutsu, attempting to form a vortex of water beneath his opponent while the hidden clone’s jutsu began to float up out of the water as a black oily cloud, covering the water in a dark flammable oil. The boy smiled at his genius, but that smile was short lived as the opponent spat a powerful pressured stream of water at him. Atsy dodged clumsily. His jutsu had failed. The boy’s head spun trying to follow the fight. He had not anticipated to fail the jutsu, it had looked simple enough when his mother had performed it.

The opponent began to close the distance between the two while continuing to spit the powerful stream of water that would cut the boy in half if it hit him. The man Atsy was fighting had already shown the boy on land that he was a proficient Taijutsu user and Atsy did not wish to try his hand at melee fighting again. Instead, the boy decided it was time to sacrifice one of his clones.

The man leapt in the air to strike at Atsy with a drawn back fist when the clone burst out of the oily water and grabbed his legs. The man let out a yell as the clone pulled him out of the air, pulling the assailant halfway into the water before getting elbowed in the face and dispersing. In the mean time, the attacker had not noticed Atsy performing his hand seals for Daibakuryuu again and as the man tried to climb out of the water and get back on his feet, Atsy attempted the jutsu again.

The water beneath he man’s feet began to swirl rapidly into a small vortex, causing the Taijutsu user to lose his footing and stumble. But beyond that, Atsy watched again as his jutsu failed. Thankfully the failure of a jutsu had bought the boy enough time to try again, but Atsy could feel his body running out of chakra the more the fight dragged on.

A grin was plastered on the man’s face as he began to move towards Atsy once again. The boy growled in anger. The man thought he had already won. The oil rain was letting up as Atsy formed his next plan of attack.

Underwater, another of the four remaining clones began hand seals for the Great Exploding Current. At the same time on the surface, Atsy attempted the jutsu again as well. In unison the two, original and copy, performed the jutsu in front of where the attacker was going to step. Atsy focused his chakra into the jutsu has hard as he could, his head beginning to spin from the lack of chakra in his body. He closed his eyes, praying that the jutsu would work on its third try.

When Atsy opened his eyes, he was stunned to see the jutsu had in fact worked. The man was in the water spinning as he was being pulled down into the oily water, causing Atsy to feel a sense of elation as he watched. The feeling did not last though, as Atsy remembered that there was still one more step for him to finish his plan.

The clone that had started the oil jutsu grabbed onto the man as he spun in the vortex, pinning his arms to his sides and wrapping its legs around the man’s waist. The oil rain had ceased, but as Atsy had planned, the water was covered in the black slime.

Atsy moved his hands into familiar hand seals this time and inhaled deeply as he prepared to unleash his fire jutsu. He jumped in the air as he did, not wanting to get caught in the flames himself, shooting five small fire balls around the spinning, oil covered water vortex. The oil burst into flames, sucking down into the vortex with the man as they did. The boy smiled as he heard his opponent screaming in pain.

Only then did the second opponent come out from beneath the choppy lake’s waves and grab Atsy’s ankles as he landed. The boy looked downward in a panic to see a middle aged woman attempting to pull him into the waves.

He was trapped and Atsy’s mind raced thinking of a way that he could escape. It was obvious that the woman had trained in water breathing jutsu, jutsu that Atsy had foolishly ignored. The thought of drowning raced through Atsy’s mind as he gasped for his last breathe of air before his head went under the water.

Then it hit the boy like a rock. The woman had obviously thought she had won as she was doing nothing but holding the boy under the water attempting to drown him. Atsy however, still had his three remaining water clones.

The clones moved hastily in unison to save their original. While two of the clones moved to free the boy from his captor, the third clone began the hand seals for the exploding water current jutsu again. The vortex formed around the boy and his captor and after a few seconds Atsy felt the current of the water rip him from the woman’s grasp. The two water clones grabbed the boy as he was released and pushed him back to the surface where he gasped for air.

Atsy could hear the woman screaming in frustration as the vortex spun her continuously. He watched as the speed of the vortex increased as more chakra was put into the jutsu until the woman began to vomit from dizziness. Faster and faster Atsy spun the vortex until the spiral reached the bottom of the lake. It irritated Atsy that he would not be able to finish the insolent woman off, but as the woman lay passed out on the muddy bottom, Atsy released his clones. The clones dissipated instantly and the vortex subsided, leaving the woman at the bottom of the lake and Atsy free to escape.

<sub>Another day, another jutsu. Atsy and his mother stood bobbing on the crashing waves of the lake. The sky was cloudy, showing signs of a thunderstorm coming in. The wind was howling so loudly that Atsy could barely hear when-

"This time I'm going to teach you the Octopus Jutsu!" Erith called over the wind barely audible. "The idea is simple, you use eight water whips at once!"

"Doesn't sound too hard," the boy hollered in response. In truth it did not. But the boy was positive that his mother would want to spar as well.

Whether or not Erith heard her son was unknown to the boy. Rather than respond with words, the woman immediately began a large string of hand seals at an incredible speed. The boy envied his mother's precision and grace. Once the hand seals were complete, the water at the woman's feet began to swirl around her until four whips extended from the masses of water in each of the woman's hands.

"We'll start like this!" she called to her son. "There are other ways to manipulate this jutsu, but we'll start with the basics!"

Atsy nodded in acknowledgment as he began the string of hand seals. The boy could not help but notice how much slower he had to perform his hand seals when comparing himself to his mother. The self doubt did not last long though, and the boy pushed the negative thoughts from his mind, instead focusing on his jutsu.

When the hand seals were complete, Atsy felt his chakra move in the water around him. It felt like a mix between the various jutsu that he had already learned: the Itomizu, Water whip and Suiton no Tate, all mixed into one.

The water moved to the boy's hands before forming into a pair of four whips in each of the hands. Atsy could feel a sense of power in the jutsu, as it was definitely not an amateur jutsu. With his left hand the boy cracked the whips downward, all four moving as one, whipping in the air.

"Stop being childish!" his mother called to him as the wind became louder.

As if to assert her dominance over the boy, the woman swung her own arm in response. To the boy's amazement however, instea of all the whips moving as one and striking the same area, the woman used subtle jerks of her wrist to control each whip independently.

The boy mimicked his mother and tried to move all four whips in his right hand as she did. He swung his arm downward, snapping his wrist back as he did. As the leading whip struck downward, the boy shifted his wrist to make the trailing whip strike upwards.</sub>

<sub>Erith burst out laughing as she watched her son's effort. While the boy attempted to move the whips in different directions, the woman could not help but notice his inexperienced movements. Then, when the second whip the boy had tried to move in the opposite direction of the first hit her son in the face, the woman could not control herself.

Atsy let out a cry as his whip struck him in the forehead. He stumbled backwards, slightly dazed and confused while he could see his mother grabbing her stomach with laughter. The boy was glad the wind was as loud as it was.

Slowly, the woman managed to gain her composure enough to call out the next set of instructions to the boy.

"Since you're not very good at using whips apparently, why don't you try it like this?"

The woman released the water from her hands where the whips levitated in front of her. Then, with a few offhanded waves of her hand, the whips began to swing and strike around her in a terrifyingly beautiful display.

'Itomizu with the whips' the boy thought to himself. It made sense. The whips were nothing more than thick water strings and there was no reason that the boy should not be able to manipulate the water in a similar fashion.

Atsy released the water in his hands and began to swing his arms like his mother. The water whips instantly reacted to the boy's commands, striking with deadly precision where he directed them to. It felt exhilarating to the young boy.

The feeling did not last long though. As the boy toyed with his new abilities, the first bolt of lightning struck off in the distance. The light was blinding and took the boy's sight for a moment. It was in that instant that Erith struck.

As Atsy's sight came recovered, he saw the blur of his mother moving toward him. Time seemed to slow for the boy as the eight whips arched back, poised to strike the boy down. Instinct took over the boy, his hands moving and manipulating his own whips to block the attack. Water jutsu clashed as the two forces collided with one another.</sub>

A well placed kick hit Atsy in his stomach sending him stumbling backwards. The rain had started and cold droplets cut into the duo as the fierce wind assaulted them. The boy raised his arms in front of him in defense, wrapping his water whips around his mother's to hold them in place. The woman barely seemed to notice, as she began to pummel the boy with jabs and kicks.

Desperate to put some space between himself and his assailant, Atsy waited for his mother to draw back for another punch. When the opening came, the boy threw himself into the woman's chest, pushing her back with his hands as he did. Erith slid on the water backwards, not losing her footing but giving Atsy just enough time to pull out a handful of kunai and hurl them at her.

A smile appeared on the woman's face as she released part of her water whip jutsu, cutting the entangled parts of the whips off. With a wave of her hand, the repairing whips caught the kunai by the handles and the woman began to spin them now bladed whips above her head. Then, as the boy watched in wonder, the woman released the projectiles back at their owner, throwing Atsy off guard.

Suiton no Tate caught the kunai before they came close to Atsy, yet still the boy felt shaken. He had not known that the jutsu held such finesse and his lack of knowledge put the boy at a great disadvantage. It was obvious that this jutsu could be used in a number of ways...

Erith charged her son again, the whips striking like claws at the boy. Atsy blocked and dodged his mother's attacks, taking a few glancing blows in the process. His mother attacked with a side kick to his head and the boy guarded with his hand before slipping under the woman's leg. Then on her open side, the boy swung his hands, releasing his water whip jutsu and bringing up a handful of water strings instead. The strings spiraled together as they moved towards the open woman and by the time they reached her they were another set of water whips.

The whips wrapped around the woman's body, holding her in place while the boy pulled a kunai from the water with one of his free whips.

"It is over," the boy said as calmly as he could while still projecting over the storm. "Give it up mom."

<sub>The boy tightened his whips around the woman as he attempted to submit her. To his surprise however, the woman's form burst into water instead. The boy spun around, looking for the woman before she could take him from behind. There was no one.

Atsy's eyes scanned everywhere for the woman, though by now the storm had picked up and made visibility almost non existent. The boy's heart raced, anxiety filling him as he pondered where his mother was waiting to strike from. Lightning crashed around the boy while his water whips floated idly in the air around him.

Lightning struck again and as the bolt hurtled toward the earth, a pair of water whips wrapped around Atsy's ankles. The boy's head snapped downward, but too late. Erith burst from beneath the waves behind her son, flying into the air and pulling the boy feet first with her. With wave of her hand the whips sent the boy flying into the air, into the midst of the crackling lightning clouds.

His mind panicked as he flew towards his certain doom. Atsy knew he was moments away from being electrocuted to death and there seemed to be nothing the boy could do to prevent his fate. Thankfully, the boy's subconscious believed otherwise and before Atsy met his doom, his own water whips wrapped around the pair that had thrown him, stopping his ascent.

Suiton no Tate. The boy had never been so thankful towards his water shield as he was at that moment. To make matters even better, the boy began to concoct a plan to use his Suiton no Tate and water whips in one jutsu.</sub>
