Welcome to a new (hopefully) regular occurrence on NFRP, the writring! The idea is simple: You write a small text in exchange for epicness, fame and cash. Oh my god Solus, is it that simple? No, it’s not. Of course there’s a catch: You don’t get to choose when you have to write or what you have to write about, that choice is up to your predecessor. Once chosen by the one who went before you you’ll write your own text about the subject given to you. Then you work your magic, in the last paragraph of your personal essay you mention who is to write the next text and its subject. And like that the writring will continue (hopefully) forever. Remember though, this is NFRP so this is supposed to be amusement, not an essay for your school teacher.

So basically it will look like this: Bob writes a text about his bike and asks Sarah to write something about flowers. Then Sarah writes her text about flowers and asks John to write a text about his attic. Then John chooses a writer for the next text and a fresh subject, like this it will go on infinitely.

But, Solus, I thought you spoke about epicness, fame and cash? Well, if you are good at writing something funny or inspirational the epicness and fame will find you, that is entirely up to your own abilities. But I understand that cash doesn’t magically appears from the sky. Let’s say you have been chosen to write something and you’ve submitted your text. Then three staffers will grade your essay as if it were a training post, the third staffer will add the values of these three grades, multiply it with 333 and round it up to a multiple of hundred. The resulting number is the amount of Ryo that will be added to your account. So, as you can see you can earn up to 10,000 ryo by just writing a single piece of text! Nifty ain’t it?

So if you get the following grades: 7, 8 and 9 you will get the following amount of cash: (7+8+9)x333= 7,992. Rounded up this means 8,000 ryo cash, straight to your account.

Of course there are a few technicalities. If it’s your turn to write and you don’t post here within a month a new person and subject will have to be chosen by the last writer and you will lose your shot at writing. It’s okay to post comments about what has been written in this thread, but don’t post a text if it’s not your turn, it will be removed and you will get a verbal warning. Don’t break the site rules, don’t try to instigate anything negative and don’t try to abuse the contest to further your shady personal agenda, it’s supposed to be a fun contest for everyone and I expect all of you guys to behave in such a way that you don’t ruin this for everyone else. I won’t be arbitrary when it comes to this contest, I just expect you all to be nice to eachother, mkay? Below I created a short list of the rules. Alright, that’s the end to my rules and ‘be nice to eachother’ rant. ^^

Now, since we have to start somewhere I hereby invite Heero to write about horrible music for the very first writring text.

Rules:

• Keep it PG-13 and within site rules.
  
• It’s okay to post comments, but don’t post a text here if it’s not your turn, you’ll get a verbal and it will be removed.
  
• When it’s your turn to write a text then don’t forget to mention in your last paragraph who is to write next and about what.
  
• When it’s your turn, please post your text within a month.
  
• Not exactly a rule, but if it’s your turn to write a text, try to pick a person for the next text who hasn’t written one before so that everyone gets a chance. Same for subjects.
  
• When you have posted your writring text three staffers will grade your essay as if it were a training post. The third staffer will add the numbers , multiply it with 333 and round it up to a multiple of hundred. The resulting number will be added to your account as cash.

Right...here we go. Sorry if it is a bit too much.

I just want to say that nothing of this is fiction. It's all real stuff (I modified the names of the people since I didn't ask any of them to be in this story).


The story of a martial artist.[/u]

Many people have to write an essay when they apply for their black belt. I suppose I can tell you all my story, but it's not a very amazing one.

My first Tae-Kwon-Do training took place in January 2005, just a month after my 16th birthday. I signed up for a senior group in Tae-Kwon-Do and showed up with black sweatpants and a white shirt with some print on. My feet were bare.
"Line up everyone!" said the instructor, who I recognized from my science class at school. I lined up at the second row between a cute Latino woman and a tall woman with auburn hair.
"Hi, my name is Riley and I'll be your instructor. We will use the first 6 months to get you in shape. If you can survive that, the fun things will start" said Riley with a smile.
She was not joking...during the first 6 months, I probably did thousands of squats, kicks, push-ups, sit-ups, jumps and citations of the basic principles. I remember one of the guys said: "Man...I bet we take more push-ups than the guys in the army does".

A few months later, the mental part of Tae-Kwon-Do made itself known. "All right, who can tell me why the lower part of the fractions have to be the same?" asked my math teacher. I raised my hand, but one of the guys who teased me just bursted out with the answer. Something inside me clicked; what he did was wrong.
I turned my head towards him. "CAN'T YOU JUST SHUT UP!? AT LEAST YOU CAN RAISE YOUR HAND AND WAIT UNTIL THE TEACHER ALLOWS YOU TO ANSWER!" I shouted. The whole room went silent...I had just told a guy who was large enough to squash me to shut up. Where had I got that strength from!?

It was time for summer camp; only three guys from my group would join me. We slept in a class room at a local school while breakfast took place in the cafeteria.
My groups instructor was a Mid-East man with piercing brown eyes and a voice that could have fit perfectly in a horror movie. To make this worse (or better on a later thought), he was my instructor the following year as well.
It did not get much better when our guest instructor in self defense was a Wolverine look-alike whose occupation was a guard job in a high-security prison. He laid my teammate in the ground before he could say 'hi' during a demonstration. But unlike my main instructor, he was not scary at all despite the black belt around his waist. It was a little interesting that black did not equal scary.

Despite all of this, summer camp was fun and I got a green stripe on my buttercup-yellow belt. When my report card came back that winter, I blinked.
'What the...my Norwegian grade has improved!' I thought. I had been lucky with the essay genre and behaved quite well, but the 5 number just seemed so unreal. Especially since the second year was a lot harder. I had also improved in P.E; my new teacher had told me that my grade was a lot more solid than last year. Was it my newer study regime or Tae-Kwon-Do? I think it was both to be honest.

"Bronze medal in -58 kg (about -128 Ibs.) goes to..." said the man before he said my name. My eyes widened when I realized that I had actually won a bronze medal in a national championship!
I climbed up on the smallest step on the pedestal before I bent my head. I shook hands with the blackbelt and waited for the other three. After the winners had been announced, I looked at my medal. I couldn't believe that I ranked number three in some sport! I had never been good at it, but I couldn't help but to smile while I texted my mother.

One year later, my nerves were higher than before while I sat at the floor. I would get the results from my red belt graduation in a minute and I had trained this for almost three years now.
"Right...you barely made it, but congratulations with red belt" said the bespectacled master with a very small smile.
I could not help but to grin; all the training I had done up to now had paid off! But my happiness became extreme sadness when my exam results came two weeks later. I had just completed my first term at university college. My scores were extremely bad...I had to do something. I had to put Tae-Kwon-Do on wait until I finished my studies.

I looked at the Union Jack flag that fluttered in the wind. I was now in England thanks to my degree; I was homesick in the start despite that I knew the language and that the culture here was not too different from the one back home.
I dried some sweat off my forehead as I realized that my homesickness had disappeared. Yesterday was my first Tae-Kwon-Do session in England and I had met a lot of people on my age (or close to). 'This is something I will miss when I go home' I thought as I drunk some water. I now had my first black stripe (courtesy of the summer camp two years ago) and have had a blast.

Tae-Kwon-Do has done a lot of things. The first thing was that I got a lot of new friends and I have traveled around in my country. My physical shape, general confidence, nerves as well as my schoolwork has improved. It also made it easier for me to fit in when I got to England.
My goal? I'm hoping to get my black belt before I turn 27 (it used to be 25, but I'm not in so good shape thanks to the break). Will I make it? I don't know. But I know that the black colour is a lot closer than it was for a little more than six years ago.[/font]
