Tsunahara sensei’s slight push away was really no more than a few steps backwards, but it was enough. It allowed Aclime to get a view of her entire body, which was the intended point. Being able to see her thighs and waist, as well as her shoulders arms gave him the ability to begin predicting again. The moment she stepped away though, the match started up once more.
Tsunahara’s first movement was a straight forward cut at his waist. Aclime watched closer, as if piercing beneath her clothes, through the very skin and bone, to perceive the very minute twitch and afitation of the muscles beneath. It was by this, that he was able to perceive the motion before it came, before it could reach him. However, he’d just barely made it, as the distance was only a few feet. Reaction time with perception was an entirely different manner. If he read it, what was the point if he did nothing about it?
Angling his sword down, he caught the blow, without actually shifting his attention. Such was necessary. To predict a single movement, most could do so occasionally. What he was trying to do was predict the very flow of the fight. The slash bounced harmlessly of his blade, however it was a very light strike, too light, he would think. Comprehension came within that same ephemeral moment of time. Sensei was about to use four direction cutting. He’d not yet perceived the motion, but the familiarity with the move triggered his muscle memory, which was perhaps a good thing.
He decided it was now or never. To predict, perceive and match sensei’s movements would have to be enough of a display to prove his competency. However, at the same time, he was aware that this entire battle was stage outside of it being a spar. Sensei hadn’t used anything that could be consider above his level of comprehension that she’d instructed him in. Rather, she’d lowered herself to his playing.
There was no time to think on that though. He managed to read a single cut, but there were still 3 more, if his instincts proved correct. He just had to predict where they were coming from. There was a twitch her right shoulder, but where was the cut coming from, right or left? It was aimed to cut horizontally right, so he matched it left, creating a loud clash when the two blade connected. The last two cuts likewise were met his own blade, though at lightning quick pace. He hadn’t even been able to perceived them, and his body just moved.
