Lost. Damn. He'd obviously taken the wrong turn at Albuquerque somewhere along the line, quite crestfallen to learn that he was capable of getting himself lost on an island. But finding his way home wasn't as simple as locating the sandy shores of O'uzu. He needed to find the small dock from which he arrived and then plot his course towards Kaminari no Kuni afterwards. Unfortunately for him, he had not expected his supposed "shortcut" to lead him into the vast and lively jungle that covered a majority of the islands land mass. He could have written an entire almanac, with all of the fauna, bug life and animals he saw as he ventured through the natural setting and cut down anything in his way- trudging through bushes, tall trees and flowing, crystalline rivers.
To think, he should be fighting for the honor of Kumogakure right now, proving his worth to become a Chuunin and protect his country, his loved ones, his code of honor. But due to the discreditable decisions of the Chuunin Exam staff, those who were in charge of scheduling the event and arranging its participants, this one particular soldier of Cloud was forced to tread back home and wait. Sure, the eye-patched male had a patience that would rival that of any farmer or school teacher, but even he had his limits. When one trained so hard for a chance at the Chuunin's, slaving away at the perfection of his techniques and racking his mind with battle plans and schematics, delaying the event in question was the emotional equivalent of a slap to the face.
But he would cease to pay any further attention to that matter when he came across an outcrop of tall, formidable and sharp rocks. They all seemed to be pointing outwards, towards him, as if they were protecting something behind them. A glance to each side, past the vibrant green fauna of the jungle, confirmed the fact that the outcrop of rocks formed a perimeter. Interested to see what was beyond this treacherous perimeter, Zel would begin to think of a way to get past this obstacle without getting hurt. Every rock, in its natural formation, had been born with a height of over 35 meters, and were near impossible to scale by hand or foot due to their craggy, unsafe and pointed surfaces. So the Cloud ninja would form a string of hand seals, and suddenly begin to gush water out of his mouth. It spilled all over the jungle ground, flooding potholes and gradually converging around the ninja. Then, when he felt it was all ready, the Cloud ninja would jump high up into the air- only to land on the giant wave he had just created. Surfing this wave, he would burst past the rocky outcrop at last! Only to discover something terrifying.
He soon found himself falling! Downwards he went with the wave of water he had ridden on, the sound of a waterfall roaring beside him- the misty presence of a hidden lake down below, with seemingly endless cliff sides at every angle. Reacting as quickly as he was trained to react, the soldier of Cloud drew his Itosen blade in mid-air and swiftly whipped it across, extending the wire within and successfully managing to latch onto a thick branch he had spotted on the side of the cliff before crashing into the foggy lake below. With the wire from his blade wrapped firmly around the branch, Zel swung towards the cliff, stopped the momentum of his fall, then let go to descend the little distance he had left to arrive towards the lake's edge. Boots stomped down on the mud at the bank of this hidden beauty, the sound of the waterfall nearby roaring so loudly that he found himself having trouble thinking. After retracting his wire and sheathing his blade once more, the Cloud ninja would observe his new found setting.
He'd fallen quite far- a distance of 150 meters, he'd say- into a pit that contained a lake that spanned a radius of 50 meters, with the remaining 20 meters surrounding it being fauna-covered land, muddy and damp, with cliffs at the end of each. Land- except for, of course, the north side of this hideout, where the waterfall fell from the river far above. Through the fogginess, with a somewhat interested gleam in his eye and a sigh, the Cloud ninja would begin to explore. Every step on the muddy ground made a nasty squelch as Zel tried to look for a safe way to travel up the cliffs and out of this pit. He found the way quite easily, but then a thought occurred to him. He had sufficient time to explore, didn't he? After all, he would be in waiting for the Chuunin Exams to start up again anyway. So with a mischievous smile, he would run across the surface of the lake's water and run into the waterfall to see what could possibly be behind it.ORPHEUS MELTED THE HEART OF PERSEPHONE,
