Drawback: If used in fast-paced combat, can result in the user burning the edges of their mouth, making it more difficult to use other fire jutsu that revolve around the mouth.
Description: The user performs the handseals, creating a faster and stronger version of the Housenka no Jutsu. This Fire Gatling technique launches out thirty Housenka-sized fireballs at the same speed at which the Housenka no Jutsu would release its’ smaller amount. The secret behind this speed is to release multiple bolts of fire at once instead of just one.

Tekato headed outside of the village for training except this time to a sleepy hamlet hidden from the world 50 miles or so outside konoha. To those who knew of its name called it Rashtan. Tekato had stumbled upon it on one of his missions while gathering information. He found no good information on the mission, however he did find a very wise old man who imposed it upon himself to test Tekato’s soul, mind, and body through difficult tests, none of which Tekato passed. However in the old man’s eyes he passed but would not tell Tekato why. Tekato saw wisdom was within the old man, but was skeptical of his knowledge because the tests he underwent were so… unpredictable, and to Tekato, seemed trivial. Perhaps he could be a mentor, but not a sensei. Besides Tekato felt he was doing fairly well on his own. After getting to know the man and his past, it became no less than an honor and he gladly accepted. Though during the excruciating training the man put him through, he might at times felt like he was regretting it. Over the course of two months though, the man developed Tekato into a master of Shunshin no Jutsu. It pushed his limits in the art of both Ninjutsu and Taijutsu and in the process came to understanding of his mind and body. The understanding of the limits and potential of his body as well as a new found level of chakra control were just a couple of the rewards from the training. The old man did not give Tekato a full name. He told Tekato to call him sensei. After accepting that he wouldnot be given a name Tekato grew to call him Yosoku sensei, meaning predictable sensei, however this was more of a joke between them. Tekato would accuse him of always putting him through training that was unconventional and unpredictable, however the Yokoku would point out that his consistency of doing so made him quite predictable. Yosoku-Sensei.

A week had gone by, he had just gotten back from a long mission and was eager for some more training with Yosoku-Sensei. He was not sure what he would teach Tekato today but he knew he had to get there quick, if he got there any later than 7 AM Sensei would be having his morning tea and they would not end up getting any training done until the afternoon, which usually ended up being meditative sessions, though always worthwhile, Tekato was in the mood for some physical training that would increase his potency in battle. He was jumped from tree to tree at an upper moderate pace, he had minutes to get there before seven, so really 5 before he starts preparing tea. Tekato raced on, landing softly on tree limbs, but jumping to the next, and the next before one could see the first one even move. Tekato had developed speed far beyond that of what he had before training with the man. He began seeing in the distance through the trees a building. It was the town hall of Rashtan. A few moments later he was in the village racing down the street. A few passing by old folks who knew him tried greeting him with a friendly “If it isn’t Tekato, how are y-“ but before anyone could finish he was out of sight and the wind was blowing behind his trail. He had no time to spare talking to anyone, today was going to be a day for training. A cloud of dust formed behind him from his feet kicking up the fine dirt on the ground. “Yosoku you better not have poored that Tea yet!” He shouted as he closed in on his house.

Tekato burst through the door of the old man’s house. He immediately spotted the old man coming out of his room to check on his boiling water. They looked at eachother for a second and he slammed the wall which triggered an axe to come down from the ceiling swinging down at Tekato. Tekato had little time to react but rolled out of the way but felt a click under his knee as it hit a button on the floor. “Are you kidding!” he thought. He saw an opening appear at the wall in front of him and to his side. Needles! He used his shunshin technique and almost instantly he was using his tree climbing technique to grasp the ceiling while needles flew from under him. He couldn’t wait for the needles to stop though so he jumped to the stove to grab the water before the old man could. He jumped down and grabbed at the stove but there was no boiling water. He looked over and the old man was sitting at his table sipping his tea with a smug expression.

“Tekato, I see you’ve arrived, you are a bit late…” The old man mocked.
“How did yo-“ Tekato looked at the stove, and the already cooling tea. There was no way he could have mixed the tea in with the water and already be drinking it and sitting down at the table. Tekato sighed reluctantly and let his head drop. “You win this time Sensei.” The old man chuckled and let Tekato sit in depression for a bit while he asked him trivial questions about how his missions went and how the Hokage was doing, things Tekato had little care for at the time. However he did let him know that he did have a new technique to train Tekato. He told him they would be focusing on Fire techniques until he mastered it. Tekato didn’t like the idea, because he was afraid of its destructive power, and what he might be capable of if he mastered it. However to the old man it was time to help Tekato over come himself and control the side of fire within him. Fire represented in Tekato his anger, chaos, his wild desires he suppressed so well. To tame fire was to tame the beast deep within Tekato. He was oblivious to this intent though, Yosoku kept this to himself for he always kept his real intent for Tekato a secret it seemed.
“The technique I will be teaching you is called the Fire Gatling Technique.” The man finished sipping his tea, and took a whiff of the remaining smell. The old man never finished his tea. It was like a vain ritual that he had to do every morning. Tekato figured he liked the smell more than the taste, as he always left the cup less than half full. Tekato himself thought tea smelled great so it didn’t seem like an outlandish idea. He got up and walked out to his backyard. He was a wealthy man and had a fairly large yard compared to most people, who actually preferred a small amount of land but a nice house. The land on the back side of his house was separated in two sections. Directly behind his house was a dense well cared for garden that he worked on as a hobby. This took up about an acre, if you walk perpendicular to the back side of his house through the garden you come to a thick line of trees with a small pathway opening between them into cleared land. The land was partially grassy and partially dirt or spots that the grass had died rather, since originally the area was green, but from training it had changed. Lining the area were 60 foot high cliffs which indicated the training area was actually the hole left over from digging directly into a stone cliff. There were dummies set up in various spots, large and small bulls eye targets set up on various places on the cliffs, and a shed full of other various training equipment. It was pretty much the ultimate training area. Though as far as Tekato knew he had been the only student Yosoku had ever had since living there. Tekato became curious as he realized that when he arrived there were definitely spots dug up from someone training there previous to him, and he couldn’t imagine that the old man went out there in his spare time, though he was pretty surprising. The two of them walked out to the training area through the garden and stopped for a moment at the entrance to his personal arena. “Yosoku-Sensei, I remember when I came here for the first time there were spots of grass that were ripped up and dead, was there someone who trained here before me?”

Yosoku looked at the boy and smiled. “Well now who says I don’t come out here for some exercise every now and then.” He said in his mildly raspy deep voice. Tekato cocked up a suspicious eye brow at him. “Hey now what are you trying to say?” The old man defended himself.

“Nothing… nothing.” Tekato said sarcastically. He normally treated old men with respect above all others (never dreaming of remarking sarcastically) but his relationship with Yosoku was like that of two good friends, but at the same time like a father to a son.

The old man glared at Tekato for a moment, he was often in denial about his fading combat prowess which is why he displayed his disingenuous anger toward Tekato, since he was far too wise to get upset over something as trivial as a little teasing. He finally answered. “There was one before you, a bright young lad like yourself, perhaps brighter.” He winked. Before Tekato could say anything he continued. “He was a lot like you…” He thought for a moment. “He was the same as you… but opposite.”

Tekato’s interest suddenly increased dramatically. He wondered who this kid was, that was apparently the same but opposite, it didn’t make much sense. “What do you mean? How can you be the same but opposite? I don’t quite understand sensei.”

“You have the same soul, but you manipulate them in different ways. You Tekato suppress you hatred and try to let only the good out of you, while this other boy, does the opposite. He doesn’t realize it but he suppresses his light, and when you cover light, darkness naturally fills in the gaps. But I know for sure, your souls are the same.” Yosoku stared at Tekato as he said this as if he was reminiscing on the memories of the other person.

The same but opposite… strange… but if I suppress darkness and he suppresses light, how are our souls the same? Tekato thought. “Who is this person, do I know him?” He asked.
“Perhaps, but it is not appropriate that I give you his name, he was one of many secrets and burdens that I cannot disclose.” He continued and gave Tekato no room to say anything less he were to interrupt him. “Stand at the top of the cliff now Tekato.” Yosoku was beginning the training. “We are starting now, no more questions.”

Tekato nodded with determination, he was curious but he was equally as anxious to train as he was to find out who this person was, but training ended up trumping the priority in his mind. He knew that when training with Yosoku he did not tolerate laziness or slacking, he had about two seconds to get to the top of the sixty foot cliff otherwise he would not be training at his fullest. Yosoku’s expectations were dictated by Tekato’s knowledge of himself. Tekato knew if he tried he could make it up the cliff in two seconds, whether or not he was up to Yosoku’s standard was directly in correlation to Tekato’s honor.

Tekato crouched and took a large leap 20 meters in the direction of the wall. He landed roughly 10 meters high on the wall. He used his tree climbing technique and began running up the wall which was at a 90 degree angle. A dust trail formed behind him as the settled dirt and dust was disturbed and his hair flowed back from his forehead from the force of the wind resistance. He took a final leap and landed at its ledge. He turned around and smirked at Yosoku and awaited orders. Suddenly Yosoku was behind him. It didn’t surprise Tekato, the old man had tricks… he knew it but he liked teasing him about his age. “Be at ease.” Yosoku said in a soft wise voice.

Tekato stood up to his normal posture and faced his sensei. “From here on we will be working with the fire chakra nature. Before we start I want you to know that, there is no turning back from here, I need your commitment on this.” The old man seemed serious.

Tekato thought about it for a moment. Fire was destructive, Tekato wanted to protect life more than take it away, why couldn’t he be earth or water natured… but on the other hand he couldn’t change who he was and what was inside him, but perhaps by learning fire he would develop more control of fire. Tekato nodded and stared at Yosoksu with an eye of determination.

Yosoku nodded back in return. “Fire is the most inherently destructive of the five elements.” He stuck his palm out from under his sleeve and made a flame the size of a baseball dance in the center of his palm. He fed chakra into it and it violently grew and became hotter, then let it back down to size. “But in the right hands can be quite tame and manageable.” He split the chakra fire into five small globes of fire and had them twirl and spin around in circles and other shapes. Tekato was surprised by the old man’s proficiency with fire but then again he seemed skillful at just about everything. He got the point though, the flames demonstrated the difference in control and power. Tekato nodded, but wondered if control had to be sacrificed for power to exist. “Then in the hands of a master, it can be anything you want.” He increased the size of the fire into that of a contained ball 5 feet in diameter. He lifted it up in the air and it began morphing until it turned into a giant fox that began hopping around, and then ran into the wall creating a huge fiery explosion 10 feet out in every direction. The man’s power was incredible. “Let us begin.”

Tekato watched the fox with amazement, and then immediately switched into training mode when he heard the words ‘lets begin’. He awaited for Yosoku to tell him how to begin this training.
“You will begin by first learning the destructive side of this jutsu.” He jumped down to the center of his training area and slammed his fist into the ground using some kind of earth Jutsu it created a five feet deep and ten feet wide crater in the ground. Then immediately he performed handseals and used some kind of water release jutsu to fill the crate up with water to the brim. “You have already learned the housenka no jutsu, mythical fire phoenix technique. This is a much stronger version of that technique where the aim is to be able to shoot about thirty bolts of fire the same size at the fire phoenix ones, except faster and sometimes all at once. We are going to work on intensity before control. The reason being for this is if one were to try to control something they do not understand they will inevitably fail. Manipulation is born from practicality, only put in to use when one needs to control something, not when one expects he will need to control something. For example when you were training your Shunshin ninjutsu for the first time and you smacked yourself right into a tree.
Tekato laughed and rubbed his head in embarrassment. “Hey that was-“

Yosoku cut him off. “An example of when you knew you needed to control the situation you were putting yourself in but since you had not experienced it had no idea how to and thus you were helpless to put into action that manipulation.” Tekato nodded. “To perform this technique you do the same seals as you did for the housenka no jutsu but add a dragon, a ram, and a tiger at the end of it, then perform it basically the same way except you release far more chakra and perform more advanced control over said chakra, I will show you now.”

Yosoku did some hand seals and suddenly a platform rose from under him causing him to rise ten feet into the air a few feet away from the pool of water. He then began performing more hand seals. Tekato recognized these seals as the ones used in the jutsu he was being taught so he payed close attention. Yosoku put his and his mouth and he began spitting fire balls two or three at a time in rapid succession until 30 fireballs had been shot. As each hit the water it caused a bit of the water to sizzle and evaporate. At the end of the technique the water level fell a few inches. It was an impressive technique, even someone quick on his feet would have trouble dodging all of the fire balls in a battle, since one could track a ninja’s movement and shoot at where they will go and not where they were. This would give one the advantage because the enemy would have to either use a jutsu to protect themselves or have to constantly adjust their movement to stay unscathed. It was unimaginable to think what it would do to someone who was confined and hit by all thirty. “I have explained to you the inner workings of the technique, and I have shown you how it is performed, now to gain true understanding of the technique you must do it yourself and gain experience.

Tekato nodded and recognized that it was his turn. He jumped up next to his master who took a few steps back out of the way. He moved to the edge of the stone platform and put his left foot down so that it barely hung off the side of the ledge. His right foot was placed a foot behind his left and facing outward and perpendicular to his left. He began performing the handseals for the technique. –dragon, ram, tiger. The last three weren’t quite as natural as the first ones since he had the muscle memory behind performing the housenka seals and sheer instinct in making the last three. He was able to make them fairly easily though, it would not affect the jutsu. Tekato took a deep breath as he brought his hand up to his mouth and blew the chakra and air that he was gathering in his lungs out creating fireballs that were hurling toward the water. Each one was slightly different in size as he tried to get out seven times the amount of fire as he was used to. They were fairly chaotic and didn’t have a lot of form to them. Some extinguished themselves on their own before even hitting the water, though some did find their way on to the surface and evaporated some of the water. “Harder than you make it look.” Tekato said. He sighed out of frustration.

“As it always is…” Remarked Yosoku. He was fairly casual about it, he didn’t seem upset that Tekato didn’t get it the first time, after all he knew better than most that wisdom and learning comes with experience. “Try again, keep going until you exhaust a good amount of chakra and come in for some tea.” Yosoku turned around and stepped off the ledge and softly landed on the ground. He took his time walking back to his house. He did so as slowly and generically as any other old man with a beard as white as his taking each step as if he didn’t need to, perhaps just moving because there was nothing better to do.

Tekato nodded to him in return and heard the man’s slow foot steps in the distance behind him. He closed his eyes to concentrate more clearly on the technique and all the mechanic within it. He needed to make sure each try counted, because the technique was chakra intensive he couldn’t practice it over and over again for hours. He would probably be able to do it seven to ten times before becoming too exhausted to learn effectively in his learning. He began taking deep breaths in and out to calm his heart and mind, and try to zero in on what he was doing wrong while performing the jutsu. He began performing the handseals. He took a deep breath just as he manipulated his palms and fingers to create the tiger handseal. He made a circle with his fingers and pressed its edge against his lips. He formed chakra in his lungs and mixed it with the oxygen and began blowing it out. He was shooting for fifteen perfect fireballs this time. He normally could do ten easily, so he figured if he couldn’t do all thirty he might be able to do fifteen and then once he got that down, do twenty, add five more after that and continue on till thirty. He formed each fireball as quickly as he could so that he could be prepared for later attempts where he would have to kick up the speed a notch more each time. He was able to get off the first thirteen well and consistently, but the last two lagged behind a little. He decided to try once more and see if he could at least get the fifteen down solid. He did it again, he formed them well this time and got all fifteen, and was feeling like he could keep going so he knew it was time to move on to twenty fire balls. Tekato began performing handseals again and released enough chakra into his lungs to compensate for the amount of chakra he would need for twenty fireballs. He blew in the direction of the pool of water once again, aiming to shoot twenty fire balls that might hit head on. He formed all twenty but they were very random in direction, he had little control over the direction as he increased the number of fireballs. He reminded himself of what Yosoku was talking about, how he needed to obtain the right power before attempting to control it. That would explain why he had him shoot at the pool of water. If he was shoot anywhere else he could accidently shoot one off in some random direction and light something on fire.

Fortunately for him they simply went into the pool of water which was ever so slowly diminishing. He tried again, to be sure he had it down. After doing the seals he performed the technique once again. Twenty fire balls shot from his hand and mouth toward the pool of water. Each was about 6 inches in diameter. Each one shot at a variety of angles within a certain threshold of about 10 feet, so they all still hit the pool of water. Tekato thought about how he was doing. So far he was at twenty fireballs he was doing fairly well. He wasn’t at the level of control needed nor the power, but he was slowly making his way up. He thought about how he would probably be even less accurate at twenty five fire balls and he wanted to at least maintain enough precision to hit the pool of water. He thought about his technique for making it accurate. It was really just a matter of chakra control at this point. He decided to try twenty again and make the threshold of accuracy 5 feet instead of ten. He began doing the handseals again with chakra control in mind. He began the technique and twenty fireballs shot out from his mouth in rapid succession, each hitting the water with more accuracy than before, about a 5 foot threshold which was what he was aiming for.

He decided to further ramp up the power. Twenty five was the target. Tekato began performing the handseals once again and this time gathered even more chakra in his lungs and blew out the chakra which was fire natured, and simultaneously ignited and formed it into individual fire balls until about twenty five of them formed. They all hit pool of water, which at this point was only seven feet in diameter because the fire was slowly boiling it down. Tekato had barely noticed since it was a subtle change. He noticed now and was a little impressed with himself but also with Yosoku. Yosoku no doubt filled it with water for the very purpose of refining his accuracy and control simultaneously with his power since it would slowly shrink, and so would Tekato’s range of accuracy. Tekato smirked at Yosoku’s unexpected training techniques as they usually were.

He was beginning to run really low on chakra and was short of breath. He decided he would increase the chakra to the full thirty fireballs and attempt it twice. He knew his limits and knew after two thirty’s he would be just about done with training due to the exhaustion of his chakra. He began the handseals once again and collected enough chakra in his lungs for thirty fireballs to be manipulated, changed, and formed after they left his esophagus and entered the air outside his mouth. He let loose all thirty fireballs and they hit the pool of water which steamed down another few inches by the end of it. He was getting it down and he didn’t even need to work on his accuracy nearly as much as he thought he would. Last one he thought. He began performing each handseal and performed the technique once again. All thirty hit. This time he understood exactly how much chakra was needed and he was getting quite used to the sheer number of fireballs he had to form, so all that was left to work on was control. Tekato collapsed to his knees as he finished the technique, he was down to the point where if he did it again he would be at his limits of his chakra. He was breathing heavily and couldn’t think quite straight but was smiling nonetheless. He felt good after training hard and he knew it was effective because he was learning the technique quickly. After resting for a few minutes on the rock, he decided it was time to go inside and join the old man for some tea.

You've actually got to 'train' the technique. First three posts had nothing to do with training, just getting there and setting up the dialog. Forth post I was generous with the +2 after that though you got back on track. Just remember that training is 'training'.

(ooc: Yeah I wasn’t sure if story during training counted at all towards training but I wanted to put that in there regardless just because I wanted to fill in some gaps in his history and character since Yosoku is an important part of his history.)

“I think I have it down Yosoku-sensei.” Tekato said as he took whiff of the tea Yosoku poured for him. He didn’t really like tea, he liked the smell, but he never told Yosoku that. He would just take small sips to seem like he was drinking it.
Yosoku looked at him and chuckled. “We’ll see about that, stay in the guest room tonight and we’ll see how you are doing in the morning. You look like you have exhausted your chakra for today and deserve a break,”

Next morning.

Tekato woke up at his usual morning hour at five thirty and headed down stairs. Yosoku was already up sitting in a chair watching the sunrise out his window. Without so much as a good-morning the two of them walked out to the training grounds.
“Show me what you have learned so far.” Yosoku said.

Tekato nodded and jumped up to the platform ten feet in the air. He positioned himself a few inches from the edge over the crater which was filled with water. He began stringing together handseals for the technique. It took him about six seconds to complete them properly. At the end of the handseals Tekato lifted his hand and formed a circle with his thumb and index finger. He let the circle set just below his mouth and he blew outward. The chakra he released into his lungs mixed with the oxygen within, and then when it left his mouth it further mixed in with the air. He used his hand which was positioned near his mouth to maintain a steady control of the flow of the chakra as it left his mouth. His hand was also a tool for changing the nature of the chakra to the fire element. He simultaneously manipulated the chakra so that set amounts of chakra would bundle up into balls, then be ignited and shot forth a high velocities nearly as fast as it they bundled up. Which was fairly quickly since Tekato was having little trouble forming the fireballs at a quick rate. Fireball upon fireball shot forth from his mouth and flew downward toward the pool of water Yosoku had graciously made for him. With each impact the sound of splashing water entered Tekato’s ears. He could see some of the water sizzle and evaporate from the intense heat surrounding the ball as it approached the water. It was like splashing water droplets on a hot frying pan, except reverse. The heat was being dropped on the water which sizzled what was around it instead of itself making the noise. Eventually thirty spheres of fire were swallowed up by the wall of water nearly as fast as they were created. Tekato looked at Yosoku expecting that he would congratulate him on learning the technique so quickly. After all he worked pretty hard, Tekato felt like he deserved it. He was under the impression that he was just about done and was ready to move on to another technique.

“It’s a good start.” Yosoku said finally.

“What?” Tekato let his head fall in despair. “I thought I was getting it down.”

“You are doing well you have a long way before you can use the technique effectively in battle though.”

Tekato became a bit more serious and nodded waiting for what Yosoku would have him do next.

“Hmm” Yosoku thought for a few seconds. “There will be a few drills you will need to master before you will be able to use it. First you need to work on your precision and control of the fireballs. I noticed when you used the technique the fireballs had little if any accuracy or precision. It was just a spray of fire bullets with not control or will influencing where they landed. At the stage it is at right now it would only be effective at hitting an enemy from the distance between the two of us.” Yosoku noted they were only standing about 5 feet apart. “Which would be deeply inefficient especially considering that the length of time it takes you to perform the technique has about a six second time frame, which would give the opponent ample enough time to have a kunai to your neck before you know it. “

“Your right, I’m sorry I should have realized that.” Tekato apologized. Sometimes when he trained techniques he forgot to consider the practicality it would have in battle aside from its face value. He imagined that he would be able to aim the technique with no difficulty at all at a moving opponent because from 10 feet above water it seemed like his aim was spot on, but chances are he wouldn’t be using the jutsu from 10 feet away. This was a medium to medium-long range jutsu. Probably effective from 15 to 30 meters away, but he was unsure. Either way he recognized he didn’t account for what the jutsu would look like if he used it on at a larger range.

“Try firing the technique at the wall opposite to us, so you can see where your level of accuracy and precision is at so you can make the necessary adjustments.” Yosoku suggested.

Tekato nodded and performed the handseals once again. He put his hand to his mouth and began blowing out fireballs until thirty were formed and burned into the wall. He noticed already that even though he consciously attempted to moniter his precision and accuracy that they were hitting in many different spots. He looked at the blackened spots from the first and saw that they were splattered indiscriminately over a 15 meter diameter circle. If a ninja was standing there completely still there was a chance that A he would not be hit at all or B be hit once as it did not appear that any fireballs consistently hit the same spot. “Ouch I guess I am worse than I thought.” Tekato rubbed his head. “

“Do not fret young Shimura, you will get it in time, it is a difficult technique, far more difficult than any your used to, I do not expect you will get it after the first few tries, and neither should you. We will be doing a preliminary exercise to train your precision. Follow me.” Yosoku beckoned him to follow as he walked back toward his garden. When they arrived they stood next to his pea plant area. “I’d like you to harvest these pea pods, remove the peas, and put them in a bowl, let me know when you are done.”

Tekato nodded and filled the bowl. It took him about a half hour to complete the job. He walked into the house and found Yosoku. “Here are your peas where do you want them?” He asked.

“Keep them you need them for your training.” He handed Tekato a small cylindrical tube and walked outside. He taped a target to his outside wall. “This is special paper that will leave marks when you hit it with something.” He flicked it his his finger and a black mark appeared where he flicked it. “I want you to work on your precision by shooting peas at this piece of paper.”

“This will help me make the technique more precise?” Tekato thought skeptically for a moment but decided to just trust his sensei. He usually had weird training methods but they consistently worked for him. He picked up a pea from the bowl and shot it at the paper, it hit the bottom left corner. “So I’m basically just doing that until I consistently hit the same spot?”
Yosoku nodded. “Yes, let me know when you think you have it down.”

Tekato nodded and picked up another pea as Yosoku walked away back into the house. He put the pea into the tube and placed it in his mouth. He tried to take it to memory the position he currently had the pea shooter in so he could shoot the exact same way each time. He took a deep breath filling his lungs with hair. He contracted his lungs and blew out the tube causing the pea to shoot and hit the top right part of the paper toward the middle. He repeatedly shot peas at the paper leaving black marks that he could use to gage his accuracy. After a while of shooting he noticed he was beginning to be more precise but it took him long enough that it was beginning to be hard to see which black dots were recent and which were old so he took the paper down. He noticed Yosoku left a pile of the special paper on a tree stump by the house. He picked it up and replaced it where the old one was. He continued to shoot peas until eventually he ran out. At that point he was feeling pretty good about his precision but wasn’t sure if he wanted to continue or not, he felt like he could still improve, he had a range of precision of about 5 centimeters, but since he was only 5 meters or so from the paper he had room to improve and wanted to increase the distance, but first he wanted to increase his range to about 2-3 centimeters before he did. Which also meant he needed to pick up all those peas. Tekato sighed, he wanted to keep training, picking up peas seemed so tedious. Wishing that the peas would pick themselves up, Tekato took the job and got to collecting. He filled the bowl back up and got ready to focus on concentrating his precision further.

He took a first shot at the new piece of paper then focused in on trying to replicate the same shot over and over again. He wondered why he was told to train using this pea shooter instead of training the jutsu itself and trying to get better at that. He thought about it and realized the two were probably pretty similar in action, Tekato used is lungs to blow the chakra out and turn it into fireballs which shot in the same direction, which was the exact same process as the pea shooter with the chakra left out and replaced with a tube and a pea. He supposed the reason for it was it conserved chakra so he could train longer and more efficiently. At least with this training method he could train all day and not exhaust his chakra. He continued to shoot peas at the paper. He was definitely improving, the black dots became more and more condensed into an small area. He exhausted his peas once more and collected them. He was going to increase the distance now.

He set up another piece of paper and walked 20 paces away from the wall. He turned, faced the wall, and loaded another pea. He began the training over again, he was a little disappointed in himself that his precision seemed a lot worse, but really couldn’t expect it to be anywhere near as good when he was standing twice as far away. He continued to shoot at the target. The black dots appeared all over the paper, but it was fairly good news that he was just hitting the paper. It was harder to hit than he expected at the distance he was at. He didn’t falter though, he continued to practice until his range of precision was widdled down to 4 inches. He was slowly but surely improving. It was getting extremely tedious, shoot, reload, shoot, reload, shoot, reload, shoot reload, then every now and then he would have to pick them back up. It was really easy to simply go through the motions, but he knew to improve he would have to constantly check himself and improve on the little errors he made each round. He sometimes found himself slacking but quickly caught himself and snapped out of it. It took countless peas but he finally got his precision to where he wanted it to be. It was about at the point where his range was an inch in diameter.

He felt like he had done what he could, moving back further could potentially help but he knew he would have a better feel for control with chakra than a pea shooter so at the point he was at then he could probably perform the technique even more accurately than he could shoot peas. Though he was pretty skillful at shooting peas as it was considering the amount of practice he put into it. As a matter of fact he was probably the best pea shooter in all of Konoha, perhaps in all of the land. He tried not to get too carried away with the thought. He walked into the house, Yosoku was reading a book, he had on his reading spectacles and seemed fairly immersed. Tekato put the bowl of peas on the table and asked him if he wanted Tekato to clean the peas since they were dirty but still in tact.

“That would be quite helpful Tekato, thank you.”

Tekato washed them off with some steaming water which hopefully disinfected them and getting off the dirt. “Here are the results.” Tekato put down the target with the best results from the twenty pace distance in front of Yosoku. He put the rest of the paper on the other side of the table. “Pretty good huh?” Tekato bragged.

“It’s a good start.” Yosoku rubbed his beard. “Perform the technique for me again and show me your progress.”

He always says that… Tekato thought. “Okay.” Tekato said as he walked out the door. The two of them walked to the training area. Tekato stood up against the side of one of the walls and faced the wall opposite to him. He made the handseals and began releasing chakra into his lungs. As he finished the handseals he blew outward and shot the fireballs at the opposite wall. He put all of his focus on one aspect of the technique, the precision. He didn’t aim for any particular part of the wall and just focused on consistently shooting off each shot the exact same way the previous shot was fired. The results weren’t perfect but there was an obvious improvement in his technique.

“You have definitely improved, now you can move on to the second step to precision training.”

Tekato was surprised and a little frustrated but at the same time intrigued to hear that there was yet another step to gaining an even higher level of precision with the technique. “What’s next then?’ He asked.

“You will go back and do the exact same thing you were doing before, except blind folded.” Yosoku said in a matter-of-factly way.

Tekato almost let himself get discouraged by the daunting task laid out before him. How was he supposed to hit a target when he couldn’t see it? He didn’t let it get to him though and instead just became more determined to get to the next level of precision that could one day save his life if he was in a tight situation and had to use the technique Yosoku was teaching him. He imagined the possibilities. He could be fighting a losing battle against a stronger, faster, and smarter enemy.

He could see it. Both combatants had used up most of their chakra and were exhausted. Having exhausted there physical bodies taijutsu was out of the question. Ninjutsu was the only thing left, whoever had the stronger jutsu would win the battle, each of them only had enough chakra for a moderate B or A level technique. They were both too exhausted to dodge more than a couple more attacks. The enemy used a lightning technique and shot a big 10 foot ball of lightning at Tekato, he just barely dodged it and began performing the seals for the Gatling technique. He shot them off at his opponent. His adversary was able to dodge the first few, but they kept coming and Tekato purposely placed them in spots where he knew his opponent could move to so he had to keep changing directions. Being exhausted his opponent couldn’t dodge anymore and was barraged by a mass amount of fireballs. While he laid there in defeat Tekato limped over and tied him up, he was the victor.

He came back to reality. Yosoku was staring at him. “You should probably get on that…” He said, looking a little confused.

“Uh…” Tekato turned slightly red out of embarrassment. “Yeah, I’ll master it faster than I did with my eyes open.” Tekato said with a determined look. He grabbed some paper and began to head out the door once again.

“Come back when you get to the point where you can hit the paper 50 times and leave only a single mark.” Yosoku said firmly.

“I’ll make it 100.” Tekato replied. Yosoku smirked at his determination. Tekato walked out and back to the side of the house where he was shooting peas before and set the target up in the same spot previously. Tekato wondered for a moment why Yosoku-sensei wanted Tekato to do it blind folded. If he could pull that off he would with no doubt be the grand master of all pea shooters, but there was probably a reason transcending that one. Tekato thought about what exactly he was trying to accomplish with this training. He knew he was trying to make his technique more precise… which was just it! Precision involves consistency, it is about hitting the same spot over and over again without faltering. If Tekato truly mastered precision it shouldn’t matter at all if he could see or not. Therefore this was both a test and training for Tekato. He liked the idea. If he could do it he knew he was making a lot of progress. He was serious about the 100 shots too, Yosoku probably knew that too. Yosoku knew Tekato probably better than Tekato did.

He took position in front of the target and took a deep breath to calm himself, he would need peak concentration to accomplish the task at hand. He took his forehead protector off and used it as a blindfold. He placed the bowl of clean peas he got from the house before he left to go outside on the ground to his right. He made a point to memorize where he placed it so he wouldn’t have to take off the blind fold after each time he shot. Tekato realized that he just cleaned those peas, it seemed like such a waste at that point. A waste of his time and perhaps a little of Yosoku’s. He wondered why Yosoku asked him to clean them when he was planning on having Tekato shoot them again anyway, maybe it was a sanitary thing in case the dirt got in Tekato’s mouth, but it was bound to happen anyway. He didn’t dwell on the subject much and decided to just start with the training. He grabbed a hand full of peas and loaded one into the shooter. He concentrated on where he thought the paper was and shot a pea in that direction. He made sure he knew the position his neck and head were angled and the angle he was pointing the shooter, which he tried to keep as perpendicular as possible. He took the leap of faith and shot a pea forward. He heard it hit the side of the house. He loaded another one and shot at a different spot. This time he heard the *pat* he was listening for. That was the position. He needed to do that everytime… every single time. He thought about how he had it positioned and after reloading his shooter he positioned back and shot again. It hit the paper. He continued to shoot it and consistently hit the paper, which was all he could really hope for since he wouldn’t be able to check where he was hitting. He kept shooting until he heard 100 *pats* from the peas hitting the paper. He slowly took off his blindfold and looked at the paper. He was a little disappointed but he knew he wouldn’t get it right away. There were black dots scattered on the top right corner of the paper.

He wanted to get better but what made it difficult was that with the slightest of movements he would hit a completely different spot on the paper. He had to concentrate so he decided before he would continue his training he would meditate for about ten minutes and clear his mind so he could concentrate solely on what he was doing at the time. After he finished he got up and didn’t think about a whole lot other than what it would take to gain perfect consistency in his shots. He placed the blindfold over his eyes once more. He stood up and faced his target, glaring at it (through a blindfold) with eyes of determination, then place the pea shooter between his lips. Then in one extraordinary puff that was ironically anti-climactic he heard a pea *pat* against a piece of paper and drop to the ground. The position was set and now all Tekato had to do was duplicate it exactly. Tekato continued to duplicate the action as well as he could until he ran out of peas. He looked at the target and saw that there was a bundle of black dots that that a small dessert plate could probably fit around. He improved from the last one but he still had a long way to go. He picked up the peas and started again. He repeated the process until he was able to hit the same spot with 100 peas. It took him hours. It was the most boring training he had ever done in his entire life. He had just spent from sun down to midnight shooting peas in a pea shooter, but he did it. He was finally able to accomplish his task. He never wanted to see a pea or a pea shooter, or anything remotely close looking to either of those objects. No small spherical beads of any kind, and no straws or small tubes. He was utterly disgusted by them, the horrid training changed his view on those objects, though he’d probably get over it in a couple weeks. He went in and plopped down on Yosoku’s couch and was out in minutes. His training didn’t tire him at all, he was tired just from being so up so long. He had gotten up at around 5 in the morning. He had been up for over nineteen hours.

Tekato laid plopped over the couch with his leg and arm dangling off the side and his head buried in between the seat and the backrest. He slowly came to consciousness and turned his head to the window. The sun was up and Yosoku was at the table reading a book. He had slept in for the first time in years it seemed.

“You seemed fairly tired from training so I didn’t wake you.” Yosoku didn’t take his eyes away from his book as he spoke.

“Man…” Tekato sat up and rubbed his eyes. “That is the first time I have slept in for as long as I can remember.” He looked out the window, it was probably about nine in the morning. Yosoku’s garden looked so peaceful, there were birds chirping, he spotted a squirrel running around looking for a nut with no luck. There was slight breeze that caused the plants to dance in unison with it. He smiled at it, it made him happy.

“How did it turn out last night?” Yosoku casually asked

“It went well, can’t say I ever want to see another pea again though,” Tekato laughed. “That was probably the hardest training I’ve had yet.”

“Don’t insult me, you’ll know true exhaustion in due time.” Yosoku’s face took on an evil shadow as he tilted his head just right against the light coming in from the window.

Tekato looked at him eyes wide with fear, having no idea if he was being serious or not.

“Not today though, let’s continue your mastery of this technique you seem to be having trouble learning.” Yosoku began walking out the door toward the training area.

Tekato sighed in relief. He thought he was coming pretty close to learning the technique, but Yosoku was implying that there was some outrageously difficult drill he needed to master before mastering the technique, he was relieved that this was not the case. Tekato walked in after Yosoku to the training area.

Yosoku asked him to use his technique once more and show him his progress. Tekato performed the fire Gatling technique and shot thirty fireballs into the air and hit the exact same spot with all thirty of them. It seemed that the shooting of small peas accurately at a target for hours at a time had more application to real life than Tekato had realized. Who knew that such a thing so simple as shoot peas could help him perform a deadly ninjutsu technique more effectively. Apparently Yosoku did.
“Very good, now you can go onto the next step of our training, grab thirty wooden targets from the shed for me please.”
Tekato brought them out 10 at a time until they were all in front of Yosoku. Yosoku grabbed one at time and began throwing them like Frisbees at the walls of the arena. Somehow the targets stuck where they hit each time so now the arena was lined with thirty targets that Tekato guessed he probably had to hit. “Now I have to hit each of those with a single burst correct?” Tekato asked.

“To put it bluntly yes, you can start out aiming to hit a few at a time, but until you can hit all thirty targets in a single breath, I’ll consider moving you onto the next technique I want you to learn.”

Tekato nodded and jumped up to the platform which was in the center of the arena he would have to do it from there to even have chance of hitting all of the targets. He noticed Yosoku leave the arena and enter his garden. He must have known it wasn’t going to happen on Tekato’s first try, but he would try his best to get as close as he could on his first try, though he needed to refine his single target accuracy first before his thirty target accuracy. He could easily guess that without even trying to hit all thirty on his first try. Though he did want to get a feel for what it was like to try.

Tekato began performing the handseals for the technique and started shooting off the fireballs at the targets, he went too slow and didn’t even make an attempt at the first shot because he had used up too many fireballs before he reached it. He was able to hit about 5 or 6 targets, but he wasn’t sure if it was due to skill or luck, with thirty fireballs he was bound to hit one or two targets. Okay, so 2 were luck, the rest were skill. Tekato justified. He decided first to test his instinctual accuracy on a single target. He performed the handseals for the technique and shot a single fireball at a random target he picked out. To fire only one he simply stopped using the technique in mid breath. He missed the target by 6 inches. He adjusted slightly to see the difference of the distance based on the change of the angle. He fired another one, this one missed just barely to the left. Tekato now understood the effect of the slightest change in the angle had on where the fireball landed. He first another one to test, he hit it right on.

Tekato felt he made enough progress on his single shot accuracy and it was time to move on to multi shot accuracy. This time he would shoot three. He performed the technique and stopped it after three blasts. After each shot he jerked his head in another direction to shoot another target. The first one hit but the other two did not. Tekato was a little frustrated, he thought he had the angles down correctly and was confused why the other two didn’t hit. He recalled his exact motions. He performed the handseals, necessary… He shot the first shot which hit, correct… he jerked his head to the next target, sloppy. That was it, he moved his head too sloppily, even though his head ended up being in the correct position after the fireball was shot it was not in the position WHEN it shot. When you jerk your head quickly there is some back lash when stabilizing it to the exact position as jerking your head to an exact position and keeping it there without another movement is near impossible. He needed another way of firing the projectiles so that he didn’t need to jerk his head after every shot. He looked back at the garden and the swaying plants in the wind. They were subtle and fluent. Fluent was the word. He needed to time his head movement into one fluent motion. While doing so he can account for variables and be sure that as he turned his head the fireballs would shoot just as he was facing the exact correct angle. There was no need for any quick head movement. This was of course easy in theory, but practicality is what mattered in battle.

Tekato thought about what exactly he was going to do. Fire the first shot, begin moving the head quickly but controllably so that the will can be imposed upon the direction at which the fireballs are shot in. He began the technique again and this time used his new idea of moving his head in one fluid motion with perfect timing instead of jerking his head with a perfect movement. He figured it was healthier anyway, the quick movements could strain his neck. The fireballs shot off toward the target, the first one hit. He rotated his neck slowly in the direction of the other targets. Another fireball shot off, hit, another, miss. Two out of three wasn’t bad, it just meant he needed more practice. He was happy that his idea was working out, and it felt much more natural and right than the last way he was trying to hit the targets. He did the technique once more except this time he hit all three of the ones he was attempting to before. The wooden targets weren’t catching fire for whatever reason, Tekato was expecting one to eventually but he wasn’t surprised it was to early to think one would light up right away. Though the fireballs were pretty hot, he would not have been uncalled for if the targets suddenly lit up. Tekato hoped they wouldn’t because it would be a hassle to find another and get it up there. Yosoku would notice if there weren’t thirty targets up there.

Tekato decided to ramp it up to ten fireballs, it was a big step but he felt like he could do it. Tekato performed the seals and fireballs shot out in a controlled manner towards the target. He rotated his head faster than before to compensate for the increased number of fireballs which were created and fired at a faster rate than three. Tekato’s eyes flickered as each fireball flashed in its creation, then dimmed as it flew away and exited into the air after hitting the wall. His face was expressionless; the only label applicable to such an emotionless face was ‘focus’. He hit eight of the ten targets he as aiming for. This was good, but it still would have been just a B in the academy grades. He performed the jutsu again, this time he hit all of the targets. He was learning quickly. He wondered if Yosoku thought he would get it this quickly. Tekato smiled, he din’t often compare himself to others and didn’t let other’s expectation become his motivation. He was happy at his progress regardless of whether Yosoku expected him to be at the place in his training he was at at the time he expected him to be there. Obviously though, he was not at the end of his training.

Tekato continued to perform the technique over and over again. Each time he performed it he increased the ratio of fireballs he applied in the jutsu to the maximum amount he could do, thirty. Twenty out of twenty shots, twenty-five out of twenty-five. It was time, he was going to put forth his best effort and master this jutsu completely. He didn’t want to let himself down. He thought of Akira, he would master this technique extremely fast. Even though he was dead, their eternal rivalry survived in Tekato. Tekato knew Akira barely considered him a rival because he was always so far ahead of Tekato, Tekato was determined to change that, even if it was an impossible feat, he’d find him in the next life, challenge him with the training he had gained in his earth life and defeat him.

Tekato fired off thirty shots. He concentrated on the rate at which he moved his head angularly toward each target. He had to adjust after each fireball since the targets were not equally distant from target to target. He moved faster, then slower, faster, then slower, and so on. After practicing so much it was becoming natural, all that I took at this point was focus. As long as he could concentrate on what he was doing he could perform the technique up to par. First target hit… five in a row, ten in a row, twenty in a row, twenty five; he was getting close. Just a few more… thirty! He hit all thirty targets. He breathed heavily in his victory for he had lost a massive amount of chakra from all of the training. He ran to Yosoku and asked him to go to the training area so he could show him. Tekato performed the technique once more in front of Yosoku hitting all thirty targets, with a strained concentration and an ease of motion. “How’s that?” Tekato asked with a big grin on his face.

“Progress I see.” Yosoku said very calmly. He may have been irritated, Tekato interrupted him while he was reading which was usually an unwise decision. His excitement got the better of him. Twelve year olds. Tekato took it as 'mission accomplished', despite ambiguous annotations.

Katon - Ryuuka no Jutsu (Dragon Fire Technique)

Effect: The user quickly performs a large creation of blinding fire into the form of a large Dragon form. The Dragon must be used in the same concept as the Goukakyuu no Jutsu in which must be thrown by placing a hand in a circle form over the mouth of the user.
Special: "Handseals"
Drawback: This type of technique is better used if the opponent is bonded down and unable to be moved.
Description: A Large creation is created as the user performs the necessary handseals for the technique. As the user does so they raise their hand up over their mouth. By taking in a deep, breathe the user fills their lungs with chakra to in, which ignites the moment they blow out air. As the user blows out the creation of fire is made taking the form of a giant dragon like creature. The Dragon is quickly hurled towards the opponent as the dragon swivels and swerves moving like that of a Chinese Dragon. When first learned the Dragon does not explode forth but the very flames oozes out spreading out in all directions that would wrap around the opponent in a blaze of glory. When the user learns the "B" Rank version the user is capable of pushing so much power into the technique to where when it touches the target it is needed it is ignited in a mass blaze of glory, creating a grand explosion.

Tekato woke up at his apartment at around 5 in the morning as he normally did. He forced himself to stand up and ignore his sleepiness. He stretched his arms back and got dressed into his normal attire. He grabbed his sword from his bedside and walked out the door. He left the village and headed over to rashtan to find the Yosoku in his garden tending his plants. “You’re here quite early today Tekato.” The old man didn’t take the time to look over at him and seemed to assume it was Tekato. Instead he focused his attention on pulling up weeds from around his plants.

Tekato saw he was weeding and there were weeds everywhere in the garden, so he figured he should help. “Would you like me to help you week Yosoku-sensei?”

Without hesitation Yosoku turned and started walking to the back door of his house. “Why thanks for the help Kato.” The old man closed the door behind him.

He was acting kind of strange to Tekato, and he didn’t usually call Tekato “kato”. He just realized he didn’t tell him how much or what parts he should weed so he tried asking but was cut off by the door shutting. Tekato sighed as he looked around at the thousands of weeds that were growing and killing the plants around them and since Yosoku didn’t specify, they would all find their roots above ground in time. Tekato didn’t let it discourage him though. He shrugged his shoulders and got to work. No use in complaining or being bogged down. He got to work. After a while he found that a large pile of weeds that needed disposing of built itself up. He grabbed a barrel from behind the shed and used that to put the weeds in and transport to dump them in the woods. After a few hours he was done and there wasn’t a weed in site. Tekato wiped some sweat of his brow and looked around at his handy work –not bad- he was thinking.

Soon after Tekato finished he was joined once again by Yosoku. “Okay no on to the next part of your training.” He walked past Tekato and toward the training area. Tekato didn’t say anything back and just followed wondering what training was in store for him. He also wondered why he said it was the next part of his training, was weeding his garden a part of his training? He wondered. Tekato joined the old man who was standing in the center of the arena. “There is a certain technique I would like you to know Tekato, this is the first step to learning it. It is called Katon - Ryuuka no Jutsu, it involves creating a dragon of fire that is shot at an opponent. I think you will pick it up quickly, but I have some different training techniques for you to start. Since the technique takes the form of a dragon you will need to learn to control your chakra and mold it into the shape of a dragon. To train this we are going to make a campfire, which is the next thing I want you to do. Go into the woods and get enough wood for a fire that will last us about five hours.”

He heard him say it was a dragon technique. This sounded really cool to him, he had always been fond of dragons or the idea of them rather. They were giant mythical creatures that could shoot fire, they were so fierce but majestic as they were violent, but while they flew, they were graceful. On top of it all they were strong and feared, useful tools in battle. Perhaps that is part of the reason the technique forms a dragon, the intimidation factor. No doubt many inexperienced ninja would freeze in their place as a fire dragon flew at them instilling a bone chilling fear in their hearts, lowering their reaction time, perhaps enough that they might be hit by the obvious attack that could otherwise be dodged easily. He said that they were going to be doing a less than conventional way of training which apparently involved a campfire. He was told he needed to go get firewood so he nodded loyally and jumped up the side of the arena and travelled into the forest. After searching for 5 to 10 minutes or so he gathered a few sticks as fire starter and 5 logs to keep the fire going for a while. He came back and looked down at the arena. Yosoku was standing in the middle of it patiently staring at nothing as he lightly leaned on the cane he held in front of him. He jumped down and began setting up the sticks in a lazily organized pile. Tekato began performing handseals to use a fire jutsu to light the fire and then began to blow into the fire as flames shot from his hands and lighting the fire.

Before Tekato could do this Yosoku extended his cane and tapped Tekato’s hands as they were forming handseals to stop him. “Don’t waste your chakra, do it by hand.” Yosoku instructed him. He wanted Tekato to learn a new level of patience and discipline beyond what he already had. He also wanted to teach Tekato to learn the value of going the extra mile.

Tekato looked at him. By hand huh. How exactly would he do that, he didn’t have any matches. He waited for a split second to see if Yosoku gave him any further instruction on how to start a fire without using his chakra. He said nothing so Tekato stood up and thought for a moment. He then jumped back into the woods. He returned with a firm bow shaped stick and jumped back to Yosoku’s side. “Do you have any string inside?” He asked. Yosoku nodded which meant it was okay to use and Tekato raced into his house and grabbed the string from inside one of his desk drawers. He ran back out and joined Yosoku who was still standing still, deep in thought, patient, and tilting his body ever so slightly on his cane which he held between his two hands just above the bottom of his long white beard that flowed down below his waist. Tekato grabbed the bow shaped stick and attached the string to it by cutting slits at the end of the convex side of the stick by using a kunai. He took another stick and twisted the string around the stick causing the bow to become tot and bend slightly creating tension. He cut a piece of wood from a log and used it to put pressure on the strung stick. He then used his kunai to cut shreds of a stick into a pile of small cuts of wood that would light on fire very quickly. After gathering a small pile of the scraps of wood in the center of his fire pit he began doing a sawing motion with the bow which quickly spun the stick that the string was wrapped around. This created a lot of friction and heat on the scraps of wood on the ground. After a while the scraps began to smoke and light on fire. Tekato slowly added more small sticks, then bigger ones and so on until he had entire fire going. The whole process took about an hour and a half.

Yosoku sat down very and waited very patiently the entire time. He was surprised that Tekato thought of the ideas he did so quickly. He was impressed but not surprised that Tekato shared the trait with his former student. It took a while to make the fire but he had the time, he was retired. Eventually the fire started, once the bigger logs were burning and the flame reached a decent height he decided it was time to instruct tekato on exactly what he would be doing. “No I want you to use chakra to manipulate this fire into the shape of a dragon like this.” Yosoku stuck his hands out and let chakra pour out of them and let it mix in with the fire, it quickly began to shape and mold and the head of dragon and its neck could be easily discerned among the dancing flames.

Tekato nodded. His arm hurt from the constant motion of spinning the stick to create friction to start the fire, but he lifted them both up and did the same as Yosoku. He released some chakra into his lungs and blew it out into the fire. He figured it would be good to practice on the lung blowing chakra technique since he would be using it in the technique anyway instead of releasing chakra from his hands. The chakra mixed in with the fire and Tekato began concentrating on manipulating the flames. It was not difficult for him to grasp the fire, it began shaping into a ball shape of sorts. It was difficult to mold details into the design especially since the flames, even though they were being manipulated danced around uncontrollably. After a while he was able to mold the fire into more of an oval shape. It was so much harder than it looked.

Yosoku noticed Tekato was forming the dragon slowly, he knew it was a difficult task and Tekato could became frustrated. He wanted him to become frustrated, he rarely did and needed to let it out once and a while. He decided to give Tekato some advice anyway. “You must be patient, it takes time to gain the level of control I have earned over the years.” Tekato was coming along nicely though. He was showing to be a promising student. With each passing second he saw tekato adjusting and making corrections on his every mistake and improving on what had room to be improved on. And then pushing the limitations of parts others would deem perfect. He always enjoyed that trait of Tekato, he did things putting all of his might into everything.

After a good long while after and a steady drain of chakra Tekato was beginning to create a piece of art within the fire. It was becoming closer and closer to becoming a dragon. It was true it was a frustrating endeavor, but he often liked those because they were the most rewarding. Tekato was one not easily flustered by large inhuman amounts of tedious work, out of everyone in his family he had the best attitude toward work. Tekato eventually let up and the fire dispersed back onto the logs and continued to burn. Tekato added another log. “Just need a quick break.” He said. “So when did you learn this technique?” Tekato asked Yosoku out of curiousity. He always had trouble imagining the old man as a kid his age and wodered if this was a technique he did not learn recently.

“When?” Yosoku looked surprised. He thought for a moment. “Let’s see if I can remember it has been so many years…” He continued to think while tapping his chin and looking up to the right for a few more seconds. “You know I think It was right before the chuunin exams, my sensei taught it to me so I could use it in any fight I might find myself in when the time came. “

“Oh really, did it end up helping you?” Tekato asked.

“No, thankfully I don’t think I used it once, but I remember it helped my confidence knowing that I always had it up my sleeve. I did end up becoming a chuunin after that exam too, it was my second try.”

Tekato was interested in the man’s past which seemed like an enigma to him. “What did your village give you as recognition for becoming a chuunin?” Tekato asked, seeing if he might give a detail that would be specific to a village so he knew what village Yosoku was from. He figured he was probably from leaf, but there were times where it was questionable.

“Oh you know, the basics, higher ranking missions, more responsibility.” Yosoku smiled at him. “You’ve had a long enough break why don’t you try again?”

Tekato reluctantly nodded and put his hands out over the fire which was becoming uncomfortably hot. He began to mold the fire once again, it slowly but quickly began to take the form of a dragon’s head. It was slow from Yosoku’s perspective, but to Tekato who was comparing it to how quickly he was doing it before it showed massive improvement. After about ten minutes or so of making adjustments and tweaks with how he made the head it finally began to look exactly like Yosoku’s example. “How’s that?” Tekato asked.

Yosoku nodded like an old wise man, which was fitting. “Now implement it into the actual technique.” Yosoku stood up and performed the technique. After making the handseals he put his fingers to his lips and blew out of them. A flaming dragon was sent forth from chakra that seemed to ignite as it left his lips. At a moderate speed it flew toward the wall of the arena and hit it head on. The dragon’s head dispersed a flat plane of flame as it hit the wall, and before long its body was gone as well.

Tekato watched on inquisitively, looking at his every motion and study his complex technique, which was not that complex physically, it was mostly in the mind and chakra control. It was similar to other jutsu he learned such as housenka. Tekato nodded to his master and faced the blackened arena wall. He began forming the handseals for the technique. He released a moderate amount of chakra into his lungs and took a deep breath as he did so. He put his fingers to his mouth in the same “ok” shape Yosoku made and he blew outward. As the chakra left his lungs and entered the air he ignited it and shaped it into the same shape he had formed so long over the fire. He had little trouble creating the dragon and then once the head was created, where the most chakra and power existed, he had little to no trouble at all continuing the body until he was out of breath. He did the technique almost perfectly.

“Continue practicing a bit longer until you feel you have it down.” Yosoku told him.

Tekato answered. “Yes Yosoku sensei.” And began forming handseals. He performed the technique a few more times until he was feeling pretty beat and knew he had the technique down well enough to use when he needed to.

Description: Kibatsu Genron is the lesson in which a swordsman learns how to use his/her sword in order to break through an opponent's guard or otherwise defensive measures. This type of offense not only learns how to penetrate an enemy's defense, but also incorporate a knock-back effect upon striking.

“Son it is time I taught you the basics of how to offensively attack an opponent and break through their offenses.” A middle aged man said with a sword out in a middle level stance.

Tekato, age 8, nodded across from him with eyes full of determination. His father went into a defensive stance and Tekato went into an offensive one. His father had his left leg back behind his back and his right leg forward and bent. It was an optimal stance to move around quickly and still defend against oncoming attacks. Tekato on the other hand put his sword up by his face and had it pointed at his father. They were wooden practice swords so there was no danger in the situation.

Tekato ran forward at his father, swinging his sword in a circular motion toward the sky, it looped around across his hair and came zooming across his mid torso area, aiming at his father’s mid section for a horizontal strike. He swung his entire torso to increase the amount of force he had put into the sword strike. He let out a ‘ha!’ as he reached as his effort in swinging was at its peak.

His father turned his body toward the oncoming blow, moving his leg back, allowing for more time between the strike and when he would defend. A loud clack could be heard from the wooden swords clashing. His father kept both knees bent to keep himself ready to block or dodge all incoming attacks.

Tekato let his wrist become loose as it came into contact with his father’s sword, allowing it to slide across and be cocked back and ready on Tekato’s left side. The blade pointed toward his father’s mid section. His arms paralleled his torso. He shot them forward toward his father’s left side which was unguarded. His father stepped back, the sword came within inches of his stomach, though it didn’t make contact, his father must not have had the time to bring his sword across to defend it.

“Very good my son.” His father bowed smiling.

Tekato smirked in pride because he felt like he bested his father, he bowed back nonetheless.
