Name: Rumblings in the Deep 2: Deepwalkers
Rank: B
Plot:
The Graboids are back. Only this time, there's more. Ever since the events at Higurashi village, the creatures have been able to proliferate and spread over a wider area than ever before. Now all of Water country is at risk, as anything that isn't sitting on solid bedrock is being uprooted and collapsed by the tunneling of the great beasts. Thousands have already died or disappeared, and villages and communities are vanishing from the map one by one. The situation is dire, and the people are crying out for someone, anyone to stop it.
Mist village lacks the resources and manpower needed to quell such a massive outbreak of a destructive species. Desperate letters of help were sent to every country from nearly every community affected by the monsters. Even the Mizukage himself has received reports of plumes of dust rising very close to the Mist village. The situation is critical, and every available body is needed.
Initial reports suggest a massive increase in the numbers of the monsters, but nests have yet to be found and reproductive organs are not present on the bodies of any of the creatures. Worse yet, there are rumors circulating of a second foreign monster prowling the plains and jungles where the subterranean worms can't go. These rumors are unconfirmed but numerous, warranting investigation once the worms have been dealt with.
For now, it seems that the terrestrial worms are confined to the Water country's main island. Until more is known about the creatures, it's impossible to tell if they are capable of spreading beyond the borders of the country. The neighbor islands have reported a complete lack of Graboid activity, but there's no telling how long the creatures remained dormant before the sudden uprising.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to wipe these creatures off the face of the earth. Also, investigate their source and try to find how to prevent future outbreaks from happening. Good luck.
Location: Water Country
Rules:
IIC Length: 2 days
Prize(s): 5,000 per Graboid killed. Every 3 Shriekers counts as one Graboid.
NPC's:
Name: Graboid
Alias: Precambrian Life Form
Class Grade: C
Last Seen In: Water Country
Likes: Eating, classical music.
Dislikes: Explosions, concrete, rocks, loud noises.
Description: Immense, tunneling worms. Their heads are a large, four-sectioned beak, with two main jaws for crushing and slicing and two hook-shaped jaws for holding prey. Within this beak are three tongue-like structures similar to large, orange eels with toothy mouths and no eyes. The Graboid itself has no eyes, and it's long, cylindrical body is covered in horn-like spines as large as a man's forearm. They are thirty to fifty feet long and can dig as fast as thirty miles per hour. These monsters are very smart and are capable of learning and adapting. They are very sensitive to even the slightest vibrations, even speaking in a normal tone of voice is enough to attract one.
Abilities: Extreme sensitivity to sound and vibration, extreme movement speed, extremely powerful jaws and tentacles, near-human intelligence.
Name: Shrieker
Alias: Second Stage Precambrian Life Form
Class Grade: D
Last Seen In: Water Country
Likes: Heat, other shriekers
Dislikes: Cold, mud, anything not a shrieker
Description: The second stage of life for a Graboid, the Shrieker is about four feet tall and weighs a good hundred pounds. It lacks arms, but has two incredibly powerful legs with three large talons on the end of each. Its large, heavy head is made up of a series of thick bony plates held together by muscle and sinew, capable of biting through sheet metal. Instead of eyes, it has a series of flaps that allow it to sense heat differences and movement in the world around it. Unlike the Graboid, it is almost completely deaf and not very sensitive to vibrations, but seems to have a more advanced form of communication than its previous form. Studies have shown that Graboid bodies are essentially living, eating cocoons. Once a Graboid dies from natural causes, anywhere from a few days to a few months after the beginning of its life, three Shriekers burst forth from its body and proceed to eat the remains. Once a Shrieker consumes enough calories, it will essentially clone itself by vomiting a smaller, genetically identical version of itself that grows to full size within a few hours. Up to seven shriekers have been known to come from a single Graboid in ideal contitions.
Abilities: Heat vision, near-human intelligence, pack mentality.
