Name: Journey Under Amegakure
(or: The Sewer Level)
Rank: B
Plot: Under Amegakure are its labyrinthine sewer system, a series of tunnels that channel the cities endless rains into its hydraulic turbines to generate the villages power. Built long before the spires of the rain village were in their infancy the ancient sewers have been around for almost as long as their have been ninja in the lands.
Although originally built simply from cobble and designed barely tall enough for an average the years and years of erosion from the torrential rain has greatly expanded and warped the sewers well beyond their original design. The ceilings have been bent upwards and now bear dagger like stalactites, the beds of the sewer rivers are now far deeper, so deep that now it is often impossible to see the bottom through its murky waters. In several places even entire walls have been worn away, creating cave like spaces hidden beneath the city streets.
During the construction of the hydraulic dams much of the sewer was mapped out and in most places even rebuilt in order to better withstand the pressures of holding up a city of skyscrapers. Whilst creating the newer sewers it was discovered that the under rivers had become rife with wild life, all manner of debased and vicious animals have come to live down their, the most plentiful of which are crocodiles but more dangerous beats have been reported.
Recently one of the electric turbines has become jammed, a malfunction that happens from time to time. The turbine in question was number three, one that is deep in the wilder parts of the rain village sewer. To fix the device Sewer Ninja squads one and two were both sent underground together. On average the mission would take maybe eight hours, the first sewer ninja didn't reemerge from the sewer until twenty hours later. The ninja was badly hurt, his entire left leg a tattered mess and his hands bloodied to the point of almost showing bone.
The survivor was from Sewer Ninja squad two and said that they were ambushed by more beast than ever encountered before and the sewer rivers were also much more flooded than normal, making their feet easy pray for predator fish. His squad had lost contact with squad one early on and for almost the entire time they were under constant attack, unable to get anywhere near turbine three or find out why it stopped working.
Without the turbine running many parts of the sewer have begun flooding, with waters already rising to the streets in some parts of the village, thankfully so far not bringing up any of the sewers inhabitants with it, but it's only a matter of time before that happens.
To deal with the current emergency Sewer Ninja squad three will be sent down, but since squad three has the least combat experience it has been decided that additional squads of volunteers will be sent down too, in order to deal with the beasts and clear the paths for so that the Sewer Ninja can perform their maintenance duties.
The ninja sent down will need to travel one section at a time, as many of the passages ahead will need to be drained before the squad can move forward. They will enter from section A-8, requiring the group to move through eight different sections in order to reach turbine three.
Location: The Amegakure sewers
Objectives:
Primary: Ensure the Sewer Ninjas survival and get the turbine running again.
Secondary: Investigate the fate of Sewer Ninja squad one (requires taking a detour whilst travelling to the turbine).
