Satu’s thoughts were focused, not on the world around him but the one he’d built within. Time had no relevance there, for a year in his head was but a minute in the world that surrounded him. This was his place to think, his only safe place, the place his therapist brought him to on many occasion. This world was comprised of nothing but of a baby blue hue, he floated there in a deep silent abyss asleep at first but slowly drifted into consciousness. His eyes opened roughly, as if he’d woken from a long nap.
[Inner World]
“Back again, Akira-kun…” a voice called out to him; it was Azrael. A man believed to be dead, a man Satu knew to be dead long after the written day. He had worked with Satu as a Chuunin and heard the speech he gave on the day of Rikku-sama’s mistake for the village. To Satu, he was an idol and on the day of his supposed death he could sense the chakra of Azrael, fading off in the distance but did nothing but mourn. He knew Azrael had lost faith in the village and because of that he aspired to take his place, sometime after the death of Azrael, Satu began to have dreams, and those dreams soon turned into visions. He believed himself to be talking to the spirit of Azrael, whom to his knowledge only communicated with himself.
“Azrael-sama.” Satu’s world soon turned towards logic as the landscape now comprised of tiles and gravity seemed to take place once more. His feet landed upon the clean tan surface lightly, to face Azrael who stood only two meters away. Satu’s face was distraught, confused looking, unsure of what action to take or how to feel, Azrael seemingly reading his mind would respond. “Listen well Akira-kun, don’t lose faith; at least not like I did. The village may not be perfect, but that is for you to change and I missed that, all those years ago. If you can’t change their minds, then guide their hearts. If you can’t guide their hearts, then engrain your resolve onto their very soul. If-” “-their soul is cold, rekindle the flame to birth a soul.” This moment of clarity was what Satu needed and sensing enlightenment, Azrael would smile. “Until next time, Akira-kun…” The world would collapse along with Azrael in it, sweeping Satu back to reality.
[Reality]
Satu had missed the question, even the suggestion of settling things in his moment of introspection, his body perked up as his head turned towards the Grass shinobi “Lets’ go, shorty!”Comically he’d dash off in the direction of the tower, both serious and light-hearted in the same instance. He’d resolved to become something, rather than be the negative nancy of the village. In that moment shortly before, he grew, as a man, as a shinobi of Waterfall.
