[Notes: Well.. I can't post The Sound of Revolution on Wattpad until November 1st for the off-chance I use this instead of the Novel Edition of "I'm Not Emo" for Watty Awards 2013.. So I decided I'd release it here first! I have come to notice that NFRP gives feedback faster! And feedback about the story is very wanted, tells authors that the story was enjoyed or that it could be improved. Hope you enjoy the story ^_^ Will update as I finish chapters! Cover coming soon!]
South London, England late 1990’s is the origin of the UK music scene known as Dubstep. This wasn’t such a big deal as the music was generally around 130 bpm. Later, around late 2000’s and early 2010 it became a mainstream music genre reaching the United States of America; it was then known as Brostep and its “poster-boy” Skrillex would make it known sea to sea and soon to be a rave favorite. This was the problem, like the UK style they had “bass drops” which afterwards would go into a frenzy like intense mixing of the sounds, they went above the 130 bpm… and that would never be enough for them as they wanted more and more; faster and faster. Around 2500 they broke the 1000 bpm barrier in an experimental mix titled “Unlimitedstep” and it led to the Revolution of America.
In the late 2600’s there was a presidential election where not only the Democratic and Republican parties were murdered, but also all the independent parties were as well. This left only one untitled party. His name was Ceil Davis, it took only a few months before the whole world saw the news titles, “Anarchist Rules U.S.A.”, “Anarchy in the Leading Power”, “Land of the Free, Truly Free”, etc… At first it seemed he would run the executive branch just like any other president but about a year into his term he started proposing bills and amendments that no one completely understood, but generally it looked like it had an anti-government view. Sadly the Checks and Balance system failed when everyone had to live at gun point and those that could have spoken up looked the other way out of fear. Of course at the end of this term no one ran against him fearing death like the ones originally against him, although it was never proven he had anything to do with that.
What do Dubstep and Ceil Davis have to do with the Revolution of America? After the second election Ceil Davis made a declaration, “From this day forth the United States of America is nothing more than a name in the history books. Our founding fathers made this the land of the free, and they failed. Nothing has come to this land aside from government oppression and corruption. I am the savior of the land of freedom. I declare this country as an Anarchy country.” Three days later “Unlimitedstep” was released as a remix to the public which not only broke the 1000 bpm barrier, but went over it created the Overrave, an immeasurable amount of beats per minute that can cause harmful long-lasting damage or death. Within our new land of Anarchy raves became more common than birthdays and dubstep became the only genre in the music industry within just a few decades.
The year is now 3012 and we are still without government, yet we have had a few ‘organizations’ that have tried to govern the people. Despite the facts, the country has continued to develop new technology and prosper as the leading power of the world. Ceil left his legacy, one of those ‘organizations’ is known as The Solution. They have a simply objective, keep the Anarchy. Today music has more power than voice so no longer can a smart talker win over people; DJs are the ones with the power.
Who am I? I am Aleriss Ezekiel. I was born in 2993 and have dedicated my life to the elimination of The Solution. Why? I know just as anyone with simply knowledge of government that there is no true form of Anarchy! The Solution is the government! They may say all they wish is for the Anarchy to continue and their presence barely even go noticed, but I know they’re strength! I will destroy them and watch this country fall into the abyss of true Anarchy as it destroys itself!
Perhaps I could have become a DJ if I put my mind to it. Gained the power to preach to the people and get their support. It would have been simple then, just to start a small army to win in numbers over skill against them. As sad as it is, I have never liked Dubstep… and certainly don’t like Unlimitedstep.
“Aleriss, I have your first rave!” my boss had such a happy tone and always seemed… distastefully positive. How could anyone be so happy during times like these? Especially in his line of work. “Thank you so much, Paul. I promise I will not fail you or the creed.” My voice still had a childish hint to it I believe. My assignment was the Little Kandi Raver Rave, wasn’t one of The Three but I still expected more to be given to me seeing as I am the youngest Pioneers to pass the entry exam in history. A rave of this small scale was unlikely to hit Overrave and even if it did the death count wouldn’t have been high.
I proceeded to leave the headquarters and head to the rave, it was a last minute assignment since all the other Pioneers were already out and this rave was soon to launch the intro. On my way out I grabbed my black jacket and pulled it over my neon blue tee-shirt, the jacket had a lot of zippers on its lower front sides for my small possessions and what not. The main purpose for wearing this jacket was its back strap which hang shoulder blade to shoulder blade, I used it to holster my tripod carrying case which would have held up to a four foot tripod if I used it for that.
My ride is uncommon for this time period; motorcycles are no long manufactured as they use more fuel and leave the rider exposed to raiders. I had no worry of raiders at the time, only of doing as I pleased, and I greatly enjoyed the wind ripping through my hair which was just an inch above my neck and flowing. The ten mile drive into the desert took only an hour and the pleasant drive picked up my mood some. Why shouldn’t I enjoy this? I saw it. It was just a thin rectangular line forming a square in the sand, that was the way in. I stopped the motorcycle on the center of the platform and revved the engine twice, signaling the men below to lower me into the garage so I could proceed to park and enter the rave.
At the door I was handed a little bracelet of neon colored beads, this was what they called kandi and it represented how many raves you’ve been too. Showing off a large amount of them became sport around the country. That kandi was my sixth. My first I acquired when I was just a child at the Neon Genesis Rave, which I attended in 2997 with my parents. The other four I came to own when I was in field training with my teacher, who happened to be a Pioneer of Anarchy.
Neon lights, a fogged large room, crowded groups, the smell of ecstasy, and the wubs of the dub. Those are the elements of a minor rave. This one was run by a Dubbed member of The Solution who will always be located behind the DJ booth on stage, furthest place from the door. I scanned around for the dealer; he would be the guy selling the ecstasy at this rave. They are normally the easiest targets to spot aside from those on the stage. He was wearing a large black trench coat with short blonde hair. I walked over casually to him and it didn’t take long for him to recognize me. “Aleriss! Oh ho ho! You being here certainly means HE is here, right?”
“No, he isn’t with me. I am running solo now that I have passed the entry exam. How has life been to you lately, Zak?”
“I was better before you got here. The rave just got started and I’ve barely made it close to my quota tonight. Can you possibly turn your head and enjoy the party for a few hours?”
“You and I both know that is out of the question, but hey it’s my first assignment so I’ll pay you the regular plus the remainder of your quota for no product.”
“The DJ is clearly Dubbed; he has two Neon Wavers on stage with him and two you’ve already passed operating the entry door. Something is strange, Aleriss. Why aren’t handymen working the doors? Well, I've got a tip from a reliable source and it seems as there is a trapdoor on the stage which leads to some lower floors where a Remixed is making plans with some other Dubbeds about the upcoming rave of The Three. It’s the one, Aleriss. Oh, that’ll be fifty for the info and twenty-seven for my quota.”
That wasn’t exactly a lot of money for me, but it was more than I expected. Still wonder if that was a made up number for his quota or if business was really that bad that night. “Drop the bass!” That was my cue. The typical Unlimitedstep song consisted of an intro, main, bass drop, main, outro. This was the bass drop that meant it was time for the bpm to raise and the party to get more intense. On my right wrist I wore an electric watch which didn't tell time, it measured the bpm of the sounds around me. Currently it was at three, the bass drop leads to a silence which within a split second will explode into the fastest part of the song. 566 bpm. No second thought allowed, I dashed into the crowd in front of me towards the stage.
689 bpm. It was a quick drastic change in tempo, they were aiming for Overrave and quick. I estimated it would only be a minute, two if I was lucky, before the first death. I was at the stage now proceeding into a jump upwards, instantly noticing the two Neon Wavers to my left and right pulling out knifes and lunging towards me as the DJ in front of me stared into my eyes from behind his booth. They saw it coming? Perhaps.. or at least I like to think it was that, and not me being reckless thinking time was too limited. I doubt anyone even noticed as two metal handles dropped into my hands from my jacket sleeves, these were like knifes but instead of a blade of concentrated light would form it. My weapons have always been a light neon blue and within seconds the neon glow was coming through the skin of their guts. They fell over and off the stage. 878 bpm.
I paused for a little as shared a stare with the Dubbed working the DJ booth, he was next on my list of deaths for tonight. I raised my voice so he could hear me over the music, “How about turning down that garbage?” My grin was over-confident and his understanding smile was unsettling. “Have you ever heard of the power of the DJ?” his grim tone said it all. I gave him too much time! A beep went off from my wrist, I glanced down to see the infinity sign on the watch. The Dubbed broke the barrier.
A pulse went throughout my body. It felt like I was just given hit by a single wave of the ocean, except it seemed that wave carried away my soul. I then lost all feeling in my body and my vision shook, what was this? I couldn't remember even my name at that point. Out of nowhere all I could feel was warmth in my ear and hear the countless number of beats. I was losing consciousness slowly but surely, possibly I was dying. The last thing I saw was the DJ wearing a set of noise blocking headphones with his grim smile, then I saw the black abyss that must have been death.
Why?
