Raika walked to a secluded, wooded area on the outskirts of the capital city. Of course, with the town empty, most everywhere was secluded. Tatsu just had to make sure he couldn’t be seen by participants. He wanted to train a couple of techniques before entering his respective exam door. Suddenly, he began hearing a voice near his belt buckle. It was his aunt! He two-way radio in his belt was set on a frequency that he used with his guardians in case of an emergency.
“Tatsu?! Tatsu! Are you there? I hope I caught you before your exams started. I’m pretty sure I’m late, but hopefully there’s still some time, can you hear me?!”
Tatsu picked up the radio and responded. “I hear you, Amaya-sama, I’m outside of the city. We were given 24 hours to get completely ready, and I was just about to train, I’ll give you directions from the main road to my location. Why are you here?”
“I’ll explain when I get there!”
Raika met up with his aunt after directing her to him. She was on her personal hoverboard, which explained how she had gotten there so fast. “I’m so happy I caught you, I guess luck was on my side!”
“If we didn’t have this extra time, you wouldn’t have. What are you doing here? I got everything I need, or at least everything I can get.”
Amaya smiled. “Almost everything.” With that, her clothes began to ruffle, and out from her sleeved slithered Nera, Raika’s pet snake. Tatsu gasped, barely saying her name as the snake made its way into Raika’s clothes, wrapping around his torso and laying his head on the left shoulder. “She was completely restless with you gone, since you haven’t taken her out much because of the winter. She understands how dangerous the exams are going to be for you, and she wanted to be with you. I have a feeling that, despite the cold, she might come in handy.”
“Oh, Nera…you’re right, she will, especially since there won’t be any kind of teams for this exam.” Tatsu smiled, and after Amaya gave him some extra food for the exams, in case they lasted long while. She then bid farewell and went back home. Raika hoped this wouldn’t be the last time they saw each other.
