The air was calm, with a slight breeze as Freeman walked over the remains of the southern gate. His smile never leaving his face as he stopped at the top of the rubble and looked around. He laughed gently as his scarf blew in the wind and he looked around for any signs of life. He had been told this town was cursed, haunted by a demon. Like he believed any of that. He looked around and soon saw what looked like a skull laying near some ruble. As he made his way to the skull he picked it up and noticed it was bleached white by time and some of the teeth were mising as was the lower jaw. “Guess you couldn’t keep your head on streight, hey buddy?” he laughed and began to juggle the skull, tossing it back and forth between hand. He had been told he would be placed on a team, although he had never gotten well before with others.

As he made his way through the town he thought of his items, his 16 packs of cigs were safe in their water proof wrapping in his buttbag, his yatake set and multi use brush were tied together on his waist and his 14 slots of painting scrolls were snug inside his buttbag. as he pulled out one pack and opened the cig container and took one out, as he did he tossed the skull up and lit the cig before putting the lighter away and taking the skull into his free hand. As he reached the meeting spot he smiled at the site of the woman. “to live, or not to live.” He said, posing with the skull. “Well, not like he had a choice.” Freeman threw the skull behind him onto the hard ground and the skull shattered. “You must be my captain, Nice to met you.” He said with a gentle smile as he puffed on the cig.

Freeman had heard the music before he had reached the spot, his ears listening to it and wondering who had been strangling a cat. As he walked, the smoke from his cig seemed to collect around him, with the wind having stopped. He reached the meeting point and after his display. He was suddenly hit by what seemed like a muscle spasm, he lost control of his legs and thinking quickly, he fell forward and landed on his hands, doing his best to balance.

What had made him fall? Had it been the music? Or maybe there was something to the rumors that the town was cursed, had breaking the skull caused him to trip? No, the girl began to speak and he realized it had ben her music that caused him to almost face plant. He pushed off from the ground and landed on his ass. He growled under his breath and tried to move his leg. “What the hell did you do to me?” he tried to force his legs to move but nothing. And he growled loudly and inhaled deeply, nearly finishing half of the cig in one puff. As he did he breathed out of his knows and collected the smoke into two smoke balls and tossed them at the girls feet, the smoke balls exploding. As they exploded, they covered enough of an area to block vision from both the girl and her companions. Following that, another long drag finished the cig as he spat out the bud and with another set of seals, he created a smoke clone that would grab him and throw him behind cover as he prepared another technique from the safety of the house.

The clone, now standing as if he had somehow managed to regain control of his legs, stood ready to fight as the real Freeman weaved more handsigns and turned the simple clone technique into a deadly multiple smoke clone tech. as he did he would pull out his yatake set and his multi use brush and prepare to draw his needed animals. He grabbed a cig, and held it in his mouth, ready to light.

Kemuri Bunshin (Smoke Clone)

Effect: This technique creates a clone made out of smoke. When it is hit, it turns into smoke similar to the Kemuri Buresu (Smoke Breathe) the user creates. The smoke clone is mostly used as a diversion tactic like other clone techniques.

Description: User creates a clone out of smoke. A technique which creates clones with the properties of Smoke. Although the clones are unable to inflict damage on an opponent, any physical attacks attempted on them envelopes the clone into Kemuri Buresu (Smoke Breathe). Depending on the user's class level is dependent on how well and how much the user is capable of performing at one given time. If the user is "D" Class they are capable of performing four Clones at once. If the user is "C" Class they are capable of performing eight clones at once. If the user is "B" Class they are capable of performing sixteen clones at once. If the user is "A" Class they are capable of performing thirty two clones at once. If the user is "S" Class they are capable of performing sixty four clones at once.
Limit: Must be a member of the Kasutā clan. Must know Kemuri Buresu (Smoke Breathe).

Description: A very similar technique to Kemuri Buresu (Smoke Breathe), however when a Kemuri Bunshin (Smoke Clone) is struck down it multiplies into multiple clones. If the user is "C" Class one clone creates 4 clones when hit. If the user is "B" Class one clone creates 8 clones when hit. If the user is "A" Class one clone creates 16 clones when hit. Description: The user launches balls of smoke at an opponent that explodes creating a more dense and intensified path of smoke capable of covering the size of a large person. The balls of smoke rise up before they slam forward into the opponent, or the general direction the user wishes. The user does not have to hurl the balls of smoke. When first learned the user is able to hurl up to 2 balls of smoke at where they wish. When the user becomes "C" Class they are able to hurl 4 balls of smoke at where they wish. When the user becomes "B" Class they are able to hurl 8 balls of smoke at where they wish. When the user becomes "A" Class they are able to hurl 16 balls of smoke at where they wish. And finally when the user becomes "S" Class they are able to hurl 32 balls of smoke at where they wish.

Freeman growled as he heard her speak. "Little Genin you are on my team now. You just received your first lesson, how to respect the dead. Cease your assault before I make you regret it.” He growled and that’s when he felt the smoke near him simply get blown away. His eyes widened as he was shocked to feel her blow away his clones. His hand trembled, Something wasn’t right… Its like she knew he wasn’t there. How did she know? He gently resealed his painting scroll and put away his yatake and multiuse brush. The cig shook in his mouth, and after a second he put it back into the pack and put the pack away.

Slowly, he pulled himself up and stood so that his upper half was viewable in a window. He looked at the woman and as he placed his numb legs under his body he only needed to support himself. He still couldn’t move them, but he could at least make it seem like he could. As he watched her he looked at her companians and then back to her. “Why did you attack me?” He asked, “Who cares if I broke. His? how do you even kn— nevermind. Who cares if I broke his skull? Its just bones anyway.” He said as he made sure he had his balance and slowly, he tried to move. But ended up falling. “God damn it! Undo what you did to my legs you bastard!” he said, more so comically angry then truly angry.

Freeman struggled to make his legs respond, nothing would make them work. He cursed himself, how had he let himself get caught like that. In a real battle that would have cost him his life. He listened to the girl as she spoke. "No more can I guide you to the afterlife. Your fate was not fair, should I ever encounter the creature that caused this I shall free your soul from entrapment." Soul? Freeman thought “Men don’t have souls, their just aging sacks of meat.” He looked at the ceiling. Still on his back from falling. He said this not out of cynicism, but out of the fact that he had a hard time accepting what he couldn’t see. He had been taught that by his adopted father.

He tried again, to move his legs and this time they answered him. He managed to get to his feet, which were a little shaky at the moment. His hands grabbed hold of the window sill and he pulled himself up. He saw her walking away from the skull. When she asked him his name he smiled. “My names Freeman, Cause I’m the only free man in the world.” He smiled, he truly was free, and no home, no family, and no responsibility besides what he decided to call responsibility. He was free in his mind. “And you are?”

Freeman laughed when she talked about controlling a soul. He laughed harder then he honestly should have. He soon stood himself up and smiled wiping a tear from his eye. “You’ve got to be kidding me, Even if souls existed its not like they could be controlled or anything.” He smiled picked up a rock, careful to avoid any bones to avoid another beating. “If I could control my soul, Why would I even need a body?” he laughed and picked up a few more rocks and began to juggle them. He looked at the girl and knew she would probably scold him for speaking that way.

As he stood there juggling, he laughed and smiled, a genuine smile traced his face as he laughed, never happier then when he was performing. As the rocks fell back and forth from him juggling them. He thought back to the first day he had learned to juggle and his smile got even bigger. and soon, he turned to the woman who was now his leader. "maam, if souls are real, Is there a chance... of bringing them back?"

Before the male could make his inquiry about reviving the deceased, a scream would rip through the air. Yet this was no scream of pain or rage, if one knew enough of screams they would easily be able to hear the terror that filled it. The sound was approaching them, but should they remain stationary it they would never find the source and those screams of terror would quickly become shrieks of agony.

"You soul has limitations itself. I cannot touch things with my soul, I cannot block attacks from those who I need to defend with only my soul." She explained with a shrug. "You should not let your ignorance guide you so. What you call nonsense many know to be an ultimate fact." She informed him.

Her animals perked suddenly, looking to the distance, soon the sound reached her ears as well. She spared a moment to glance at Freeman before taking off towards the sound. Athena and Ridori took to the skies, flying towards the sound, Ridori would stop when she reached the point that made the noise, acting as a guide for the others. Maxwell ran alongside Kogaku, now known as Eden, as they went towards the screaming point, ready for anything to happen.

Freeman waited for his question to be answered. But as he did he heard the screams and turned toward them, to see the girl begin running toward the source of the sound. Freeman dropped the rocks and contemplated following her. If he followed her, he would most likely be walking into a whole heap of trouble…But if he turned away hed be a coward, and if his old man taught him anything it was that even a free man has to protect his honor. He sighed and took off toward the sound, the screams turning into what sounded like a scream of agony, and something in him triggered.

Memories from something he couldn’t quite remember raced through his head… it wasn’t like they were his own, he was smaller, a child, he watched as the mist rolled into the town, the mist was red as blood. There were screams, and something grabbed the him, a parent and pulled him inside. He shook his head, to clear it of the vision. He chastised himself for daydreaming, for what he thought was day dreaming. As he ran to meet up with the girl he ran across another skeleton, this one was smaller, and the house it was near seemed burned, but he could still feel something… a connection to it.

As he shook his head again he pulled out his pack and jumped to the nearby roof of a building to try and see where they were, he saw one of the girls animals and headed toward it. Ashe did he pulled out his lighter and tossing it up, he put his cig in his mouth and caught the lighter as he landed next to Eden and light the cig before putin g his lighter away and he stood ready to perform hand signs if needed. He was prepared for whatever it was they were about to meet.

The birds in flight, one incredibly large and one quite small, would be the first to witness the source of the screams. The source originated from a park area which was roughly two blocks straight ahead and one block to the left of the location where they started before moving. From the perspective of the birds there would be a human, seemingly male, with a shaved head dressed in a monk's traditional robes being chased by fifteen to seventeen mutilated, shambling corpses which were about ten feet from the monk. Enshrouding the undead creatures was a mist of a thin red which seemed to be encompassing a small area of the town in a path.

Freeman would find something other than he expected awaiting him on the roof. Rather than the sturdy support he was expecting, a five would area around his landing point would collapse as he was landing. These were, after all, wooden buildings that had been abandoned for hundreds of years, it was a miracle that many of them were still standing, let alone had intact roofs. If the man could not do something to rectify his predicament, he would land hard, back first onto a set table which would collapse under his weight as well.

Freemans foot touched the roof, and he felt the wood snap. He pushed off hard trying to keep himself going, but he didn’t get enough leverage off of the second push to keep going. He fell short of where he needed to be. He landed hard on that table, and he felt it break under his weight, he laid there dazed for a second. he looked around and cursed loudly. He growled and stood up brushing himself of. “Fucking… my luck” he slowly made his way out of the building, soon heading toward where he saw the bird, this time on the ground. As he ran there he saw what appeared to be the old man and… walking… corpses.

He pulled out a cig from his pack and lit it quickly before putting his lighter away. As he did he saw the bird swoop down and pick up the monk, as the girl he now called leader, eden, played a song on her flute. As she did, Freeman smiled and watched, while it seem he was being useless, he was actually allowing smoke to build in the area. He was setting up for a technique, should whatever his leader be doing not work.

But as he smoked, he saw a vision once again. Something in him stirred abnd he stepped back. Holding his head. He tried to get it out of his mind but couldn’t.the small child from before returned to his mind and after a moment he pushed him aside and returned to how he was before. He stumbled but soon regained his footing before returning to where the monk was. “You okay old man?” he said as he checked the man for injury.

The close knit group was zombies was decimated by the blast as the mindlessly pressed on, the concussive wave more than enough to obliterate any trace of their century old corpses. After the monk had been saved by the colossal bird, they began to struggle with their robes, the position of their rescue not being entirely favorable to their fashion choice. When the robe was finally pulled down the monk heard what Freeman was saying and scowled at him, speaking in a feminine tone, "I am not old, and I am most certainly not a man!" Indeed, upon taking the time to examine the monk they would see her features were indeed feminine.

Drawback: User is incapable of moving until the technique ends. They can still stand however.
Description: The user lets the leash on their soul out some so it can explore and tell the user about what is out there. The user can force out their soul while keeping it within their body to explore areas they normally cannot. The user may send their soul out 15 meters per class level and lasts for 5 hours per class level. User knows what each other are doing and seeing. User is unable to move around until they reconnect with the soul for the effects to end. Users who can see auras will be able to see the Soul.
Limit: Must be a Soulcaster.


Freeman smiled and laughed gently as he helped the monk stand, he apologized for saying she was an old man and as he tried to flirt, as was his nature, he was suddenly sprayed with zombie gore. The mushy remains splattered onto Freemans back, the sun warmed blood seeped into his shirt and the squishy flesh slowly fell off his back. He stood there, paralyzed by the sheer fact of what just happened. He sighed gently and took a step back to turn toward where the explosion had come from and as he did, he stepped on a chunk of flesh that had fallen off his shirt and it slipped on the ground and caused him to land on his back, pushing the warmish blood and guts into his shirt and onto his skin. “Fuck…Me…”

He stood there and tried his best to contain his rage. Slowly he took off his sweater and scarf and he threw them down onto the ground. He groaned loudly to the air. “You know, I was okay with being attacked. I was okay with falling threw an old roof…But what the fuck!” he kicked the pile of cloths and yelled. “That scarf was my fathers! It was made from the best silks in his home country!” he Began to rant and rave. “Ever since I came to the goddamn town it’s been one thing after another! First im attacked by you for breaking a skull! Its bones! Who cares?! And then after that I fall threw a damn roof and nearly kill myself! And now this?!” He pointed at the monk. “And who are you?! Why are you here?! What’s with the corpses?! Can someone please explain what the hell—“he looked away and back and found himself outside his body. “Is going on?... what the hell.” He saw himself standing there, a trickle of blood coming from his nose. He tried to touch his own shoulder but passed right through it.

“What the hell is going on” Freeman said as he stood there, dumbfounded. As he stood there, he heard a wing beat and turned behind him quickly, to be faced with an older man, in his fifties, with a funeral suit on and a black trench coat, his hair was black and slicked back with blue eyes. He stood there, with a silver walking stick in his hand and silver ring on his finger. He slowly lifted his head and looked at Freeman.

“Hello Freeman.” The man said as he stood there, Freeman stepped back from him and reached for his yataka set, but couldn’t find it. He fumbled around and found he didn’t even have his smokes. He tried to grab them from his actual body but he just passed right through. As he did, the man appeared nearby and chuckled gently. “Don’t bother; you wouldn’t be able to hurt me anyway.” He said and he motioned for Freeman to follow him. He slowly did, still confused as to what was going on. They soon got back to the fountain where he had met Eden and the man snapped his fingers and the broken fragments of the skull Freeman had broken earlier remade themselves and flew into the man’s hand, whole and as it was when Freeman had found it. The man placed the Skull on the fountain and tapped his cane on the ground, causing a table to appear. He pulled out a chair and sat in it before scooting into the table. “Sit.” He said. Freeman didn’t sit, and the man sighed and snapped his fingers, Freeman found himself sitting in the chair and he tried to get up but couldn’t.

“Hey man, look, I don’t know what’s going on here, but if this is some dream I need to wake up.” Freeman said, still trying to get out of the seat.

The man laughed gently and smiled. “This is a dream?” he pointed his finger at Freeman’s bare chest. Freeman screamed and as he reached for his chest his hands were forced down and the burning began, a sigil began to be drawn on his chest, well more liked seared into his flesh. Freeman screamed and the man simply watched. Once the sigil was done being made the pain stopped and Freeman panted. “Still think it’s a dream?”

Freeman panted heavily as he tried to regain his senses. He son did and looked at the man with a fire in his eyes. “You basted… could have just told me.” He felt his hands get free and his body get free from the chair as well. He jumped back from the man and held his hand over the new seared on tattoo. Freeman already didn’t like this guy. “Alright, so if it’s not a dream, then why could I see myself? Care to explain that?”

The man simply stood and the table disappeared. “I pulled your soul from your body.” He could see freeman about to speak and snapped his fingers, and Freeman could not speak. “Now, before you start asking questions, Let me tell you what is going to happen.” He smiled and fixed his suit gently. “You and your friends are going to find what is raising the dead, and destroy it. Do you understand me?”

Freeman nodded and as the man began to walk away, Freeman began to speak. “Who are you?...”

The man simply smiled and turned toward Freeman. “I think you know who I am.” He smiled and with the sound of a wing flap he was gone.

Freeman took a second and then realized who the man was. He ran back toward where he had been and found his body still there, but with the sigil burned into his body. He stopped and tried to think of how to get back into his body. “Come on… how do I get back in you bastard!” he sighed and then thought for a moment. “I’m a soul… souls possess people.” He smiled and focusing on his own soul, he slowly reentered his body and as he did he snapped back to his senses and screamed out in pain from the sigil, and gasped for breath before falling to his knees. “I…It worked!” Freeman smiled and laughed. Then remembered what he needed to do. “Eden! Eden we have a problem.”
