Appearance;;
The Devil of Ame differs from others with his bloodline when it comes to raw appearance. Instead of having a tan, as most do in the Masamune branches, Conrad has very pale skin, to the point of fright. Many Masamune also have long, black hair that stretches past their shoulders. Conrad's is black, yes, but it is rather short, only coming down in spikes to his cheeks in the front, the tip of his neck in the back. Other than this, though, Conrad looks like a normal Masamune. He is very tall, standing at six'foot'six, with a medium body build. Masamunes also hit puberty a lot faster than regular ninjas and civilians, so, although he is twenty-one in truth, Conrad looks more like he's sixteen or seventeen. He is mistaken for a gennin all the time when he is a chuunin in reality.
As most Masamune do, Conrad bears a total of four tatoos. The first is a huge, black dragon going down the length of his back. The next is the Masamune seal that is placed on his stomach, around his belly button. The final two are the most important, or at least, that is what Conrad thinks. In order to show his undying respect and servitude to his village, on each of his shoulders, Conrad bears four vertical lines that are representative of the Rain Village, since that is the symbol on every headband.
The attire of Conrad is one a bit strange by any ninja's standards. He wears a long, scarlet robe with no shirt underneath, a black belt, and plain, black pants. He wears black sandals with white straps. On his back are two gourds; one holds iron sand, the other holds regular sand. Although this makes Conrad slower, it doesn't really matter since he protects himself so well with the triple release combination of water, sand, and iron sand. He doesn't do much moving around because of the two gourds. Conrad also has purple gloves with black arm-warmers. What an interesting guy...
Personality;;
Being that he is of an evil alignment, it is no surprise that Conrad is a direct enemy of the 'greater good,' or whatever you'd like to call it. He has always seen the knights and paladins of the world as a disgrace; who do they think they are? They're living in a world of chaos and war, of violence and death. And they run around as if they can fix every single problem in the world. There's no such thing as a cure for the world. When has there ever been peace amongst all the major and minor shinobi nations? There are always those who are weaker and those who are stronger. Conrad lets go of all of his feelings, allowing the hate to engulf his entire being. This, in his own opinion, is what makes him one of the stronger and not one of the weaker.
One can be evil and still have respect for certain institutions, though. For example, while Conrad despises other country, while in his own of Rain, he follows every rule to the letter. He has never left any job, any mission, unfinished. He is what makes the Rain Village so great simply because he is always striving to do better. 'Rain's Devil' is his nickname. He will kill everything in his path if his mission requires it of him. He knows not fear, he knows not incompleteness. Each of his arms bears four lines, the symbol depicted on Rain shinobi's headbands. It shows his everlasting, undying dedication for that which he lives. His true home.
History;;
Childhood;;
Although it seems commonplace nowadays, Conrad's story is one filled with horror and death, explaining why he is the way he is. As most Masamune are, he was born to two parents in the Rice Fields Country. He lived a pretty ordinary life until the age of eight or nine. He hadn't gone to the Academy in Sound mainly because his parents hadn't wanted him to go. They were ex-Mist ninja who had fought their share of battles and wars and didn't want their child to see the sinister acts of violence. Conrad had never questioned his parents word; they were his role models, his everything. And they would be taken away from him at such an early stage in his life. At such an early age. Scars that would never heal. Such a depressing fact of life.
Living on a small farm, but still making enough to live off of, Conrad's parents lived far away from any other Masamune and led a relatively quiet life. However, they had both been respectable, although dangerous Jounin in their village. They had killed quite a lot of ninja from all over the hidden villages, making them prime targets for political killings. Having been living in the country with the Sound Village present at all times, a group of Sound ninja had been researching about the two for a few years. The group of Sound ninja had lost a lot of their friends in battles with Mist ninja, so they saw this as their chance for revenge. They attacked with a strong group of fifteen, quickly overwhelming the couple, although they put up a hell of a fight.
Being experienced, well-trained shinobi, Conrad's mother had heard the attackers coming from almost a mile away. From being in her stay at Sound, she had managed to pick up a few of their techniques, such as the Sonar jutsu, which she kept active a lot of the time since she knew she could be assassinated even after her retirement. As soon as she picked up on the group of fifteen, she had put her son underneath the bed in her room. She had told him that whenever an opportunity presented itself, to run. Get out of the Rice Fields and just continue on until he found another village where he could take refuge. Holding his parents in such a high respect, Conrad agreed, though he wasn't happy about it.
Hiding under the bed for the entirety of the battle, Conrad dared not peek out from underneath the bed. He could hear metal clashing on metal, pieces of the house getting blasted by various jutsu, but he knew if he looked out he would only be troublesome. A burden. So he stayed hidden. After about an hour, when no more sounds could be heard, Conrad opened up the little bed-flap-cover and looked around. He could only see blood all over the place with various bodies covering the ground. Holes, burn marks, black sand, and even some water covered all of the house. Conrad got up and looked around, but his parents were nowhere to be found. He finally got to the kitchen, where he saw their bodies lying on the floor. He collapsed to his knees, his whole body shaking uneasily as he began to sob. He put his head onto their broken bodies, but he couldn't stay long. He smelled smoke. The house was burning.
He ran.
Running;;
Now, how Conrad got to be in the Rain Village is a bit of an interesting story, because the Rice Fields and the Rain Country aren't really that close together. Escaping from his burning house with only the clothes he was wearing, Conrad just chose a direction and went that way as fast as he could. He didn't think about where he was going because he had never been outside of the Rice Fields before. After all, he was still very young. After making it about halfway through the Fire Country, Conrad felt his legs just crumple. His entire being, both in a physical state as well as a mental one, was just completely destroyed. The reality of his parents dying and not even having a home just hit him all at once, combined with the fact that he had been running for three hours in the pitch black...
He passed out.
When he awoke, Conrad found himself on a bed with a woman in the room who was obviously much older than he. She was wearing a white uniform. "Where am I?" He instinctively questioned, only last remembering traveling in the Fire Country. She looked at him. "A merchant found you collapsed in the Fire Country on his way back from making a sale. He brought you back here. You can leave whenever you want. We thought there was something wrong with you, but you're actually in pretty good health. Just need to eat something." While it was a relief to be safe, Conrad didn't really know what to think... He was in a strange place now... An orphan... He knew he couldn't go back to the Rice Fields as well because he would eventually be found and killed, and he had never known any other family members. He had been separated from all other Masamune. So, this place would have to be his home for now. He knew one thing, though.
He wanted to be a shinobi.
Growing Up;;
Although he was the newest addition to the arsenal of shinobi within the Rain Village, Conrad wasn't really a shinobi yet. He had kept a relatively low presence since he had gotten out of the hospital, although he made sure the Amekage knew that he was there. He also made it clear that he would be a shinobi without ever going through the Academy. While the Amekage didn't like the sound of this idea, he just simply nodded and shrugged it off. This annoyed Conrad; it seemed like people didn't think he had what it took to be a good tool of war. He began to do a lot of research on the Masamune bloodlimit, going to every library within the Rain Country, but even then he could only get a little bit of information on them. Conrad just kept looking up more and more stuff about the releases, genjutsu, fighting styles. He probably learned more in six months than what was taught in all the years of the Academy.
Knowing that he had to find a Masamune to teach him things, Conrad went on the search for one that would be able to take him in as an apprentice. The only problem was that there wasn't an abundance of Masamune anymore. Conrad looked all over the country, but was unable to find one. This was when he traveled to other countries, desperately trying to find him a master. He needed one so badly. It wasn't until Conrad ended up in the Land of Wind somehow that he found himself an ex-Sand ninja who had knowledge on Masamune techniques as well as many other releases. The only problem was that he was a stubborn old man who went by the name of Ryo (his last name is unknown). He told Conrad he'd take him under his wing, but he was going to be as tough and strict as he wanted to be. Conrad figured he had nothing left to lose, and agreed.
From the ages of eleven to almost sixteen, Conrad learned everything this man had to teach him from making a simple clone to a shunshin to sand release techniques and, of course, Masamune techniques, but it came at a price. Conrad was taught at a very fast pace, sometimes not being able to keep up, which was when his punishment was inflicted. It didn't matter that he was only eleven when this rigorous training began. He has many scars all across his body from the whips, stabs, and punches he had taken from Ryo. Every time something could not preformed or something was not understood, another blow was inflicted. The two of them practiced in the desert of the Wind Country, so it wasn't like anybody could help Conrad. Besides, he didn't want the help. He wanted to be strong. This man made him strong through that training.
He was grateful.
Chuunin Exams: Part One;;
Of course, by the time Conrad got back to the Rain Village, it was time for the Chuunin Exams. Since he had been gone so long, he had only heard a little bit of actual solid information regarding the glorious Exams. All of the shinobi nations enter, the minor as well as the major, with only the best coming out on top at the end. This being in his mind the entire time, Conrad knew it was the perfect opportunity to show the world the true power and might of the Masamune bloodlimit as well as the Rain Village. By this time, Conrad had gotten all of his tattoos and was looking to join a team, although he wasn't a very team-oriented person, so he only ended up going with one other person, who was a Taijutsu Master, balancing the team out, although Genjutsu was left out of the equation.
The two entered, passing the first exam, the knowledge portion, easily since they were both pretty smart people. The second stage of the Exams, the survival segment, is where things got interesting. There were only six teams total in the second round, which seemed to be pretty average. Three were from Leaf, one from Sand, one from Mist and, of course, the two Rain ninja. All the other teams had three people. There was a simple objective here: stay conscious for twenty-four hours. Nobody was permitted to sleep. If anybody was seriously injured, they'd be taken out (although a few ended up dying anyway). Conrad and his comrade decided to just find a defensible position and wait it out there, not wanting to just go roaming around, prime bait for an ambush.
The duo got into one fight the entire span of time. The fight lasted eight hours. One of the Leaf groups walked right into the target area, so immediately Conrad began to pull his regular sand out and pull some flashy stuff on them. However, all three of these Leaf ninja had special abilities that Conrad had never seen before his entire life. He knew there were many bloodlimits, but he didn't know that some were so... weird. The leader of the group was a Kaguya who used to be an active ninja in the Sound Village. The second was an Ekitai, the people made of water. The final was a Kaishin. The water and ice completely negated all the sandy traps that Conrad had laid out for them, forcing him to fall back on his Iron Sand and his partner's Taijutsu.
It was an interesting fight.
Chuunin Exams: Part Two;;
All of the Desert Chain Lock jutsus were destroyed by the water from the Ekitai. The Kaguya, being an ex-Sound ninja, easily used a Sonar technique to locate the two Rain ninja. Words were exchanged - bitter words. It was easy to tell that these two teams were never going to like each other. At the very start of the fight, Conrad's partner, the Taijutsu prodigy, began to do battle with the Kaguya with a mixture of Goken and Brawler. This was a very good combination because Conrad's partner mainly used Goken, but threw in random Brawler moves to keep things interesting and unpredictable. The Kaguya was, of course, used to fighting in a more formal style, and so was taken off guard at first. This left Conrad, though, with the Ekitai and the Kaishin, who were definitely not to be taken lightly.
It was fortunate, then, for the Ekitai to be taken out so quickly. Conrad had build up a good amount of sand beneath the earth using the Soil Conversion technique, which took a good bit of his chakra, but guaranteed him an easy kill. The sand sprouted up from the ground like a fountain, covering the Ekitai and compressing so fast that the water-based person turned into nothing but droplets. Even then, the sand ate up the water. The crimson blood covered the battlefield, covered Conrad. He turned to the Kaishin. "Your turn." The Kaishin, however, wasn't scared at all. He tried to use Demonic Ice Mirrors, which Conrad found it hard to counter against. He knew that he couldn't use sand against ice. Thankfully, he didn't have to do anything.
His partner came crashing through the mirror that the Kaishin had placed himself in. The Kaishin came sliding across the floor, where a kunai slit his throat. Conrad thought his partner had taken care of the Kaguya. This wasn't the case. Apparently the Kaguya was more of an S-Classed shinobi than anything else, while Conrad and his partner where on the border of B and C. How were they supposed to take down this elite? Sh!t, that Kaguya probably could've been a d**n Jounin.
All Conrad could really do was defend against the attacks using his sand. It was up to his partner as far as the offense went. His partner had been beaten up pretty badly, though. The Kaguya dances were definitely something. The gracefulness combined with the raw power and intensity... It gave Conrad chills. It was at this very moment that he realized he wasn't the strongest at the Exams. He couldn't take down this opponent. He needed to rain more... As the two went at it and Conrad continued to try to catch the Kaguya off guard with both sand and iron sand, Conrad's partner finally decided to put an end to these games, but the Kaguya had the exact same thought in mind.
The Kaguya used the last dance, all of the bones sprouting up from the ground, while Conrad's partner opened the Fifth Chakra Gate. Both Conrad's partner and the Kaguya were killed. Conrad was beaten up badly by the last dance, but he had managed to produce a cloud of sand to lift him into the air. He made it to the last round, not losing consciousness until two hours after the second round. Although he didn't compete in the third round, he had made it there, and was eligible for Chuunin. He was granted the rank.
Rain's Devil;;
Not much has happened since those Chuunin Exams. It's been a total of three years. Conrad declares himself Ame's Debiru: Rain's Devil.
