Scythe (Overview)
Rank: "C"
Type: Main, Slashing, Scythe
Effect: A Style of weaponry that was first used for gardening but then later turned into an art of weaponry.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: A scythe consists of a wooden shaft about 3 feet to 5 feet long called a snaith, snath, snathe or sned. The snaith may be straight, or with an "S" curve, but the more sophisticated versions are curved in three dimensions, allowing the mower to stand more upright. The snaith has either one or two short handles at right angles to it usually one near the upper end and always another roughly in the middle. A long, curved blade about 2 to 3 feet long is mounted at the lower end, perpendicular to the snaith. Scythes always have the blade projecting from the left side of the snaith when in use, with the edge towards the mower. In principle a left-handed scythe could be made, but it could not be used together with right-handed scythes in a team of mowers, as the left-handed mower would be mowing in the opposite direction.
Limit: These types of weapons may be capable of being bought inside any Weapon Shop
Ari's Scythe- Black, straight snaith with two handles. Three feet long blade.
Secondary Items:
Darts (Overview)
Rank: "C" Rank
Type: Secondary, 15 per Slot, Piercing, Darts
Effect: Darts are missile weapons, designed to fly such that a sharp, often weighted point will strike first. They can be distinguished from javelins by fletching and a shaft that is shorter and/or more flexible, and from arrows by the fact that they are not of the right length to use with a normal bow.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Steel-tip darts generally weigh 18−26 grams and maximum of 50 grams. The common length of a dart is generally 15 to 20 cm (6−8 inches) long. There is a large array of types of darts. There are the sportsmen darts, the blowdarts as well as Tranquilizer darts.
Limit: These types of items may be capable of being bought inside any Weapon Shop.
Kunai (Overview)
Rank: "C" Rank
Type: Secondary, 2 per Slot, Piercing/Slashing, Knife
Effect: A digging tool, a bit like a trowel. The blade was soft iron and unsharpened because the edges were used to smash plaster and wood, to dig holes and to pry. Also used as a knife.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: The kunai is conventionally wrought in ranges from 6 to 8 inches, with the average at 7 inches. The kunai was used by common folk as multi-purpose gardening tools and by workers of stone and masonry. The kunai is not a knife, but something more akin to a crowbar. The blade was soft iron and unsharpened because the edges were used to smash plaster and wood, to dig holes and to pry. Normally only the tip would have been sharpened. The uses to which a kunai was put would have destroyed any heat-treated and sharpened tool like a knife. There could be multiple kinds of kunais such as handless ones, or even double sided kunais as long as they are within the same length.
Limit: These types of items may be capable of being bought inside any Weapon Shop.
Grenade: Stun
Rank: "C"
Type: Secondary, 1 per Slot, Explosive, Grenade
Effect: A stun grenade, also known as a flash-bang, is a nonlethal weapon. These grenades are used to temporally neutralize the combat effectiveness of enemies by usually disorienting their senses.
Special: ---
Drawback: May harm the user if not thrown right.
Description: A stun grenade, also known as a flash-bang, is a non-lethal weapon. These grenades are used to temporally neutralize the combat effectiveness of enemies by usually disorienting their senses. When making contact it releases a flash of light that momentarily activates all light sensitive cells in the eye, making vision impossible for approximately 5 seconds until the eye restores itself to its normal, un-stimulated state. The incredibly loud blast produced by the grenade adds to its incapacitating properties by disturbing the fluid in the ear which also lasts approximately 5 seconds until the ear restores itself to its normal, un-stimulated state. The flash bang has a radius damage of 15 meters. It takes 6 seconds before it explodes.

Personality:Due to growing up alone and blind Ari is completely anti social and utterly shy. When approached by a stranger, Ari is known to begin shaking violently, even if all they said is "hi". If the stranger tries to further conversation and Shani isn't a round, Ari will either break out in tears or run away, sometimes even both. The only exception to this is when Ari is surrounded by her two team mates.
When with her team, Ari stands strong and will often ignore any stranger that tries approaching her. It isn't until she is put in the spot light that she begins to shake and stutter. Which why she often doesn't do anything to make her more of a target than her two team mates.
The one trait Ari has, other than shyness, is anger. She has horrible anger problems. She is quick to anger, especially when it deals with Shani. She's usually have one angry outburst then return to her small quiet self unless the person continues to anger her, in which she'll resort to trying to fight them or walking away.
Ari also has an obsession with Shani Tachibana. Although she has never seen him and never will, she swears he is gorgeous and she is in love with him. This is where her "Neutral True" comes into play, while she believes in good and evil and will often pick good over evil, she follows Shani's every step. What he believes, she believes. What he wants, she does.
How blind love is...pun intended.
Appearance:
Ari is a surprisingly pretty girl. She is 5’4. She has tan, smooth to the touch, skin. She is pretty muscular for a girl, supporting a six pack under her shirt. She also supports a pretty large bust on her chest. Her nails are fairly long and sharp. Her hair is long, it goes past her bottom. It’s a medium purple colour and silk smooth. Her eyes have a distant look to them and are a lighter colour than her hair.
For outfits, Ari usually wears around a loose fitting spaghetti strapped tank top, with the buttons undone. She often wears a thick shirt that goes an inch above her knees. Depending on where she is depends on what shoes she wears. If in the village and home, she wears simple sandals but on missions or training she wears black knee high laced up combat boots.
Her head band is always located around her eyes, even if not on duty she wears the head band as a sense of security and pride. She also has her utility belt around her waist, the light brown clashes with her outfit and stands out but it is another item she keeps on her at all times; since she is blind she doesn't care for appearances. Last but not least, her black scythe is strapped on to her back, this is probably the only item she'll leave at home when she just walks about town; mainly because it often intimidates people and also feels uncomfortable after a while..
Background:
The young girl removed the head band from her eyes and opened her eyes to the silence around her. Her mouth began to speak to her only true friend; darkness.
“I wasn’t always blind, you know? Well actually, I guess I was. Just not 100 percent blind. It started out as white fuzz almost. I could see fine, I could make out my mother and father, our pet cat, Miza. As far as anyone knew, I was a normal kid.
And then my retinas began to shrivel up like a dying old man until finally, the world was black. I tried my hardest not to let my parents know I was blind…I tried my hardest to be a normal kid again…but I’m getting a head of the story.
I was born on a clear sunny day to a beautiful mother and a hard working father. My mother was a ninja until she had me. She decided to stay home to watch after me because my father was a weapons smith; he constantly traveled to other villages to show his new creations.
One trip, he came back extremely ill. I was about 4 at the time. I helped my mother as much as I could to take care of my father. I’d feed him, read him stories…but then I started to get a fever. I tried to hide it from Mother so we could take care of father but…one day when father asked me to read him a story…I couldn’t make out one black blur from the next. I began to [newclass=]violently sob which caused my fever to sky rocket and eventually, I passed out.
When I awake little black dots covered my vision. It wasn’t too distracting but annoying. My mother was sitting by my bed side, reading me a story. When she saw my eyes open she smiled softly and called my father in. He hobbled in and apologized for getting me sick. He was wearing a mask but I still could see his cheek rise in a smile. I opened my mouth to tell him it was fine but when I inhaled I began to violently cough and the lack of oxygen caused me to pass out. That was the last time I ever saw my parents…and their smiling faces.
When I awoke everything was black. At first I screamed but I had to silence myself. I wiped violently at my eyes until I was sure I had rubbed them raw. I checked to make sure my eye lids opened, I even poked my eyeballs. I was blind.
I hid this from my parents as long as I could but…it’s pretty obvious to tell when someone is blind. They don’t use their eyes anymore. I started tripping over things, and when my parents spoke to me I didn’t look at them.
One night, I had just turned 5, I got up to get a glass of water. I tripped over something on the way to the kitchen. I felt around and felt a full suitcase. I continued to feel around and felt more suitcases and a cage. I stuck my fingers through the cage and Miza meowed loudly and sniffed my fingers. I heard my parents walk up and flip the light switch on. My father inhaled sharply…
I asked my parents where we were going. They were silent for 7 seconds exactly, I know because I was counting. When you’re blind you can’t look at someone and know what they’re hiding but I’ve learned liars tend to pause longer before answering questions. They responded that all of us were going to live in the Hidden Leaf Village; they wanted to surprise me in the morning. I was stupid to believe that’s actually what was happening.
They told me to go to bed, and that they were too. The irony is that none of us went to bed. I sat on the edge of my bed and listened to my parents argue and move things around and argue more. They were so angry.
One of the conversations I eavesdropped on was my father saying “perhaps we should stay” and my mother’s response…my beautiful mother…
“We cannot afford to raise that thing! Not only would people stare at us but we’d have to take care of her for her entire life! She will NEVER have a job and she can NEVER become a ninja!!!”
I felt my heart drop. I grabbed my pillow and sobbed into it, the only thing I allowed myself was Miza crying to me let out of the cage. After about two hours of crying, I heard a door open and shut and then silence. I had prayed that I had suddenly become deaf too but when I opened my door and went to my parents’ room, I didn’t smell either of them. I didn’t even smell Miza anymore. I just sat against their door and cried more.
I stayed in my home as long as I could, and ate the food that hadn’t gone bad but eventually some strangers came over and were speaking about selling the house. I was scared they’d find me and take me to a foster home so I left out my bedroom window.
I lived homeless. I got into habits of stealing and lying to keep living. I was seven when I first met him. I had a method; I’d walk around smelling people. The better they smelt the richer they were and I’d pick pocket them and run. One day I had stepped past a man who smelt of Vanilla and Dragon’s Blood. I quickly grabbed his wallet and took off. It was odd, the man’s muscles tensed and he inhaled sharply but…he didn’t run after me. He let me take his money and...It was a chunk full of money. I was able to eat good for a couple of weeks.
I began to seek out the man and follow him around. For a year I followed him around. One day though, I was following him and was stopped by the group of kids whom usually picked on me. They poked names and constantly made fun of me, pushing me around. This had been the worst case of it all though. They proceeded to grab my matted hair and cut it off with their kunais. They would get so close to the skin that they’d actually cut skin. I didn’t even cry…I just took it.
“Get on your knees!” one of them cried out and then they began to kick the back of my knees until I fell in the dirt.
They called me the “Eyes of rain.” A sarcastic name because my eyes were worthless. They began to spit on me and laugh, and kick me. Calling me blindy or other immature names. I’d often wonder if my parents had seen this...what I had gone through, would they have stayed or left sooner? I was covered in my sweat, blood and tears and their spit and dirt. But suddenly…the pain all went away. I thought I had died. I often wondered if I’d know I had died, because I can’t see the world fade away…but I knew I wasn’t dead with I smelt Vanilla and Dragon’s blood.
The man helped me up and wiped the dust off. He helped me limp to a place where he said I’d be safe. I heard a door open then he guided me to a bed and set me on it. He handed me a stack of cash and told me he’d be back in a minute. I had never been so scared in my life. I had been abandoned and beaten but…this, this beat all other fear. What was he going to do? Was he going to come back and rape me? Was all this kindness to pay me for something awful he planned on doing? Was this money pay for his crimes? When he came back I started to cry again and when he sat next to me, my body began to shake. He sighed and laid a hand on my head and ruffled what hair I had left. He told me it was going to me ok and suddenly, with the scent of Dragon blood overwhelming my nose…I calmed down. He explained to me that he told the manager of the apartment complex my issue and that he agreed to let me stay at the apartments for a low cost. I was going to have to start working for the man as soon as I got settled in though. The Vanilla Dragon left after that.
The next day I promised myself my life was going to change. I got an actual haircut and got clean clothes and then searched around for the Vanilla Dragon but couldn’t find him. I stayed in my room a lot, thinking he’d come back to my room but soon…I started to think he had abandoned me or he was some sort of angel, sent down to fix my life. After five days of waiting I had finally heard a knock on my door. Even though I asked who it was, I could smell the Vanilla.
For years he came over and visited me, even gave me spare cash so I wouldn’t have to work so hard for the manager. We even went out to eat several times and he’d go clothes shopping with me. He was my only friend. He also helped me “train” as we called it. Everything he learned that day he’d try to teach me. He always told me I was a quick learner. When I turned 13 he joined the academy so I didn’t see him as much. He was in the academy and trained with his family often, so…seeing him was very very rare. I continued to live my life though, shopped for food and clothes and even gave what little cash I could do kids in need. When Shani did stop to visit, he’d both be upset and just want to relax or hyper and want to teach me everything he knew. It’s safe to say, everything I learned I learned it from Shani Tachibana.
That year went by faster than I could have ever imagined. When I turned 14 Shani threw me a small birthday. It was the first time I met his brother, Saito. Saito didn’t smell as good as Shani, he smelt of mud and dragon’s blood. Saito seemed a little awkward around me also…but Saito brought up that he was in the academy, which caused Shani to ask me when I was starting school. When I told him I wasn’t it got very, very silent. I could hear the wind outside.
“Why not?” Shani’s voice was cold and hard, as if he hated me.
“I’m blind, Shani-san, a blind ninja would be utterly useless.”
Both him and Saito got up and left. I didn’t understand why or even how I had upset either one of them but Shani came back that night…part of me at the time, wishes he didn’t. I had never seen Shani that upset in my life. He didn’t even knock, just threw open the door and slammed it. He approached me very fast, too fast for me to do anything. He grabbed me by the shirt and then just dropped me. He hit the wall and then sat on my bed.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to up-“ I had started to say.
“Shut up!” He hissed. He quickly stood up and walked over to the door. “8 a.m. Meet me down in the commons.” He ordered then left the apartment. I hadn’t realized it but…I had started to cry.
I did as he said and met him in the commons. He just muttered something under his breath and grabbed me by my upper arm and drug me down the streets. He moved so fast I could hardly keep up. I constantly tripped over myself and finally I pulled away from him. I just stared into the darkness and I heard him sigh. Did he actually calm down?
No. He proceeded to pick me up and throw me over his shoulder. No…he was still very much pissed. We entered a building and he set me down. He grabbed my wrist and lead me around so many smells. When we finally stopped and he spoke, my heart stopped.
“I’d like to enroll Ari Hitako.”
I started school the next day. Shani had to wake me up and drag me out my apartment but, I did end up at school. Everyday Shani would be waiting at the end of the apartment complexes and if I was even a minute late, he’d storm into my room. I didn’t do well in school at all, but I never told Shani that. He’d ask me how I was doing and I’d lie. I told him I was doing great!
After my first year, Shani went to talk to my teacher, to hear her brag about me but instead…he heard the truth. It was like the time before; he was angry and didn’t speak a lot. He was upset for a good week then finally he told me that he’d be visiting me every day after school. And he did, even if it was only for five minutes, he helped me with everything I had trouble with. Soon enough, I was second best in my class. Sometimes he’d even visit me before school, seeing as he had graduated and had a team of his own.
Every time he spoke about his team it upset me. I’d be stuck with some strangers I didn’t even know. I wished that Shani and I could be together, I…I had come to love him. Yes, I admit it. I am in love with Shani Tachibana. I always will be…
It’s upsetting to say that when I graduated, Shani couldn’t be there. He was on a mission…that I wish he never had gone on. He almost died…no one would let me see him. Saito came over to my apartment a couple of times to tell me how he was doing. Saito got me caught up on all that happened…his whole team was dead. There was funeral for them all, the whole village attended but Shani…he was still in the hospital.
I couldn’t be in the hospital with him but every day I sat outside; I prayed he’d ask for me. I knew he wouldn’t, I wasn’t that important to anyone. It had been almost two weeks, Saito left the hospital and I jumped up like usual and ran to the mud man, begging him to tell me about Shani’s condition.
“He is getting better. He finally came back to his senses.” Saito told me.
My heart sank as Saito walked away from me. He didn’t…even ask to see me. I could feel my useless eyes watering. My bottom lip shook. Why was I so upset, I KNEW I could never be that import to ANYONE…
“Oh and by the way, he asked about you…”
I was shocked to hear Saito speak again, but…I was glad. Shortly after that Shani was let out of the hospital, of course I was sitting outside and met him. I couldn’t hug him because he was in so much pain. Shani sounded happy to see me but…there were two other smells with him. Both Dragon’s blood. One smelt of cheap perfume and the other of wood. Shani must have seen the confusion on my face because he soon spoke up.
“Ari…these are my parents.”
I guess I embarrassed myself, because I bowed three times. Apologizing for being rude. They didn’t even speak to me. I went blabbing on and on until I heard his mother whisper to his father.
“Isn’t she the Eyes of Rain?”
My heart sank and I just closed my eyes and pulled out my headband from my pocket. “I..I graduated, Shani.” My voice cracked.
“I know…”
“Are you proud?” I whispered.
“Shani lets go.” His mother spoke up.
“You wouldn’t believe how proud I am.” Shani said, I could hear the smile in his voice.
“Shani, is this the girl who you spent all that money on?!” His father yelled.
“It’s all thanks to you. I could have never come this far without you.”
“Shani! You spent your money on this Eyes of Rain?! You fool! Once a begger, ALWAYS a begger.”
I suddenly felt Shani’s arms wrap around me and he took my head band from my hands. My breathing was ragged, I knew I was about to cry. He gently wrapped the headband over my eyes and whispered to me.
“Never let those bastards see you cry.”
Despite his parent’s protests, Shani walked me home. He gave me a gentle, pain filled hug and as he was walking away he yelled. “Oh by the way, can’t wait to meet our captain!” "
The purple haired girl had a soft smile on her lips, she messed with the head band that she lazily held in one hand and continued to speak.
"It's been almost a whole year since I've been in a team with Shani and Saito Tachibana. The Dragons of the Rain Village...and to tell the truth...Mom, Dad...I couldn't be happier that you left me behind because I would have probably turned out like you thought, Mom. A useless blind girl with no hope of a real life. What am I now?"
The smirk grew bigger on her lips as she dropped a rose on the doorstep of a place she once called home.
"I'm the Eyes of Rain."
