Description: User is able to perform this technique at a distance of 10 meters. This Jutsu evokes an invisible barrier of pure force at the desired location that lasts until the start of the user's next turn. This Jutsu has an effect of 3 meters high and 3 meters wide. The barrier must be formed so that its flat surface faces the user. An instant barrier is destroyed by any Jutsu or effect that destroys a Wall of Force. It can also be negated by Dispel Chakra and can be damaged by Jutsus as normal. Weapons attacks and abilities damage an instant barrier, but it has a hardness of 20 and Armour Points equal to 50 per Class Level. Breath weapons and Jutsus cannot pass through an instant barrier, though a spread effect can reach those behind it if a clear path is available. The Jutsu otherwise functions as a Wall of Force. Because of its name Instant Barrier can be evoked without sacrificing a movement, it can be used to cause a fireball to detonate early or to stop a charging creature in their tracks.

In the mindscape of the Phoros, the lifetimes converged to discuss the power of the technique that had been bestowed to them. The concept had been stolen, a white chakra that worked beyond the forces granted by standard chakra. Together, they formed the almighty barrier once again, the barrier that was impossible to overcome. The smoothness of it was a marvel. It was a perfect in a world that usually had none. If it didn't take to long to formulate, it would be among the most ultimate of defenses.

But then came the thoughts, all at once, why can't it be more perfect? It could be made to go faster. The personalities seemed sure of it. They worked into the wisps that formed the barrier, then shattered them to pieces. The current version of the technique wasn't satisfactory. They needed to move beyond it and reach a new height. All the edges of the white wisps were torn to shreds and left in a litter upon the ground.

A barrier in a moment needed a moment's trigger. What could be used to summon it instantaneously? What could the barrier be linked to? It would have to be an instinctive thought, something that triggers when it is most needed. The raw emotion of surprised seemed like a good start. It was something that kicked in at the beginning of a reflex, a state of mind that was disjointed and numb. That had to be extracted into a signal to begin the process of erecting the barrier.

But of course, some of that impossibly good defense may have to be sacrificed. There was no way to lay the defense thick enough in such a short amount of time. The girls already knew that if the barrier was disrupted while it was forming, then it would break down into nothingness and fail.

To begin with, the chakra needed to be thrown out all at once, at the beginning of the surprise process. It'd be loose in the wind, a mess of powerful bricks mixed with far too much mortar and glue. In that way, the chakra would at least still stick together when it was released. Then it was simply a matter of pulling it close into a fully formed wall of defense. That would mean it was a two part creation process, with the other half of the equation linked to another part of the mind.

The certainty of being attacked was the secondary idea to be linked to the creation of the barrier. Surprise would put the barrier into the air, and then the certainty would pull the excess chakra back into the body while the remaining chakra condenses into a powerful wall to block what attacks may come. In this way, every surprise would trigger the possibility of a barrier coming to form.

Tarah held out her hand and let the chakra surge. It was time to learn how to empower the allies she planned to have. The blood of summoning needed to be infused with might and fury. Since the summoning blood was her blood, that meant she needed to be infused with the might and fury. She stretched forth her hand and envisioned the veins pulsing deep within. Those were so close to her chakra circuitry—it wouldn’t take much to move the power along.

So she commanded it. She allowed the chakra to seep out of its own system and into hers—from spirit to liquid. How far was a spirit from a gas? Not too far, she’d wager. In many ways the spirit diffused more effectively than the air, since it had no restrictions of what it could possess. That in mind, she called for the spiritual energy of chakra to latch into her blood cells like oxygen did.

Tarah bit into her index finger, wounding it. The wound only lasted for a brief period, so she forcibly smeared blood onto her other palm. She watched the fresh blood in all its glory. In there, she felt her own energy, and it was that energy that she needed to manipulate into new forms. Once that was done, and with the blood was properly sacrificed for the fulfillment of the technique, then what rose from another plane would be infused with a new might.

Description: After performing the handseals, the user will then release a bit of their chakra which will look like an outline of a hexagon. This will expand outwards, until its roughly 1 meter in diameter. Then it crystallizes, forming a perfect mirror. The mirror is used mainly for the Suishō Bunshin no Jutsu, but can also be used as just a regular object for whatever the user can think of. The mirror has a harness of 5 and 20 armor points.

The minds of the past whispered inward again, and guided the body’s hand. A quick memory was to take priority, and it was time to shape a medium for that memory. This time, the medium’s shape would not be so dreamlike. It was to be a reflection. The body’s hand drew in the air with spiritual energy, tracing a hexagonal frame. The chakra then interacted with the air and caused particles of crystals to form from the frame inwards.

As the mirror reflected the face, the image didn’t quite match. The mind was being more oppressive today than on most other days. It saw fit to show thoughts and memories—a reflection with a story. Not conventional by any means. Still, with eyes they looked and they saw something from the ancient past. In the days long gone, there was a crystal castle resting in a cold, wintry mountain range—their home from long before.

The mirror of the true time, as if linked to a mirror from the old, saw into a girl in the castle who was preening. She touched the crystal mirror, manipulating it to move around her so she could catch the details of her appearance from every angle. She smiled, continuing to brush her hair and hum a tune in the cold air. As she finished dressing and grooming, she reached out to touch the mirror. A soft touch this time, and the crystal seemed to ripple where she made contact.

“Let’s have a good and proper look at you.”

Suishō Bunshin no Jutsu (Crystal Release: Jade Crystal Clone Technique)

Description: After forming the mirror from the Shōton: Suishō Kyō (Crystal Release: Crystal Mirror) technique, the user will use it to reflect the image of the person who he wishes the clone to look like. This image is a perfect clone of the person visually right down to the chakra network. The clone moves at the same speed as a tai specialist the same rank as the user, and has access to all the users crystal release techniques. The user is able to create up to 5 clones with this technique.

The woman of the past reached deep into the mirror itself. In the memory being viewed, it was as if her hands had disappeared in front of her. Then, from the crystalline mirror, a clone was pulled out. It was an exact duplicate of the woman. She walked around the clone, inspecting it, using it to see her body from all angles. She was satisfied by the look of it—it was good, she decreed, and so it was. Following that proclamation, she began to change.

For her second form, the woman had shifted into a more muscular girl with tanned skin—like she was a denizen of the desert. From that second form, the woman flexed and stretched out her body, and then reached for the crystal mirror as well. The same process happened. The muscular girl reached into the depths of the reflection and pulled out a clone of her current form. This second clone quite nearly stomped its way out of the mirror.

There was a loud collision sound where the crystal clone’s feet touched the crystal floor. There were similarities between the two clones—big similarities, to the point where they could be sisters. Had it not been for the differences caused by living arrangements, and the wilder hairstyle of the muscular girl, they would be nearly identical. So it was that crystal clone stood next to crystal clone so that they could compare one another.

But of course that wasn’t enough to be done with it. The original shifted appearances once again. This third time, she became a form that looked even more pampered than her first appearance. The third look was a lady dressed like a holy priest with a light layer of foundation, some curled lashes, powder, and faintly pink lips. She had a wicked smile about her, and she reached into the crystal mirror with only one hand to pull out her own duplicate.

This third clone of crystal moved the most gracefully by far, and stepped lightly onto the ground despite the structure she was made out of. She spun and danced over to the other clones, looking pleased for one reason for another, and waved by fingers to her fellow clones. She sat on the bed, being careful to straighten out her robes as she did so, and then folded her hands together and watch the process go on. The original had already begun to shift to the next one.

Up until now, the forms had pretty long hair, but the fourth form to take shape had hair that barely went down to the neck and flared outwards near the bottom. Her outfit was like a military uniform—entirely black except for portions at the end that were gray and white like it had been burned. This one appeared with a scowl upon her face, and she didn’t even touch the crystal mirror to call her version of the crystal clone out into the room.

Fifth was also a girl with shorter hair, but hers was spikier than the rest—she could’ve convincingly implied that she was struck by lightning not long before. Her version of the crystal clone jumped out of the mirror on her own accord, and the clone tucked into a tumbling roll into the crystal castle’s room. After rolling in, the crystal clone stood up and raised her arms up at her triumphant entrance. The glamorous priest and the muscular fighter gave some light applause.

With the fifth clone created, the original body returned to its first ever appearance. The memory shifted away from the vision of the crystal mirror, for now it was coming from the eyes of the original. They basked in the old thoughts and ideas. In this case, the original was feeling for the chakra connection between her and the five crystal clones. There was a depth to their link that was beyond things like mud clones or fire clones. These were powerful.

First of all, there was an affinity for the elemental crystals. The original called for it, and the clones raised their hands in their own manners and summon small crystal trinkets that were to their liking. The most pampered priest had used the connection to summon a little statue of herself in all her glory. A squad of small crystal soldiers appeared in the hands of the one in the burnt military uniform. The muscular clone forged a crystal lion.

The clone with the spikey hair had created a white crystal canvas with black crystal lines and music notes upon its surface—a sheet for playing music out from. Finally, the clone that looked much like the original had formed a tiny sculpture of intertwined ribbons frozen in the shape of an egg. A small hatchling, of some sort of fluffy bird, rested inside the network of ribbons. The clones regarded their personal creations with different forms of pride.

They were all crystals still under the command of the original, and so she felt she had an intimate connection with them all. She could, at will, wish them away to oblivion at a thought. That was the same for the clones. However, something about the true personality powering the clones made her feel uncomfortable with the thought. If there was no need to wish them away, then she would not do so. They remained.

There was more to it than that, though. The chakra network was a complete match between her and the clones. At this time in the past, she was without a sufficient bloodline, so that wasn’t a power she could access. However, she did have a way to imprint the might that her body already possessed. Strength that was honestly earned could still be carried by the clones—the strength of her hand to hand combat techniques.

This is a technique that explodes releasing a small amount of ice in a large area the moment the user makes contact with an object. The moment the user strikes it releases a small ball of ice spikes outwards from the point of origin. The ice has a complete entrapment distance of 1/2 a meter diameter, with a wounding/limb entrapment of 1 meter diameter. The summon's body is cooler than normal, and emits a cool vapor off of their body. This enhancement works on all striking attacks that are unarmed. This enhancement will not work with weapon strikes.

Now, a lesson in what is beyond those castle walls, thought Aryia, as she the original walked to the castle window.

What was beyond was the everlasting snow—it covered the mountainous landscape as far as they could see. It was a wonderland of white, and the memory of that seeing that scene fed back through the memorial connection. The deep cold seemed to draw chills in the present day—knowing the conditions of mountain peaks, that chilling landscape was likely to still exist out there. As for the castle, well, that was up in the air.

The chief principle of cold was motionlessness—the absence of activity. That feature had to radiate off the very surface of the summoner’s allies, and without compromising the summoner or the summon itself. That was a feature that diminished the surroundings without affecting the internal. It was a challenge in many ways. First and foremost, the nature of cold had to be constructed. It started off like ice—a rigid lattice that discouraged motion.

Secondly, the lattice code had to be inserted into the summon code, so that the two bonded together in harmony. In order to counterbalance the motionless inspired by the cold, the summon part of the equation had to be filled with motion—overflowing with it, in some cases, so that the feedback from the aura was negligible. Like with a house, the process was akin to keeping a good heating system while the surroundings were pelted by a blizzard winds.

Forget the frost, Deena practically roared in their head. Do not forget to infuse the majesty of flames.

The concept of the heater seemed to erupt, and so the house that was imagined got burnt down by the very idea of endless flames. Deena’s spirit was lit by familiarity and comfort, and the memory shifted to back in her time, when she challenged and allied with forces of fire. Be it demons or dragons, phoenixes and elementals, she strove to understand the finer utilitiess of the flame. Deep within the lights and warmth was a process that slowly broke the world down.

Though frost was motionless, there was more to the flame than just motion. Nature was in motion all the time. Conflagrations were different. They were a process of change and conversion. They sped up the system of progression that saturated the world. To be a fire is to be a catalyst for change. As it passes through the world, a new potential awaits. White, gray, and black were the ashes, and the ashes were a canvas for something new.

So it was that a new world consumed the remnants of flame. It paved the way for life, and even the warmth of the eternal inferno that was the sun was necessary to sustain life. To infuse one’s summon with the might of the fire was to infuse them with the ideal of change. Smoke—a fusion of remnants that bled back into the world—must radiate from the body, because the world around it was being forcibly changed by the mere presence of beautiful fire.

Janice was next to interrupt. That’s all well and good, but our glory is based on our fusion.

Flame was in one hand, and ice in the other. They were opposite elements, but Janice was assured of their compatibility. Their union could do some much more. The magic of their makeup, and even the science of their being, was capable of doing more together than apart. Though this sentiment was no denied by the other personalities, they did not favor one another to keep such an intimate union of elements.

Well, not matter, if the time came to use it, then it must be available for use. That was the principle of pragmatism, and Janice knew that the key to that was a bridging effect. The chakra of the flame, ice, and summon must all be bridged with one another. That special meeting spot between the three could spawn something new and wonderful. They formed a triangle in Janice’s imagination, and a new energy waited in the center.

Indeed, the smoke that drifted off the body could intertwine with the frosted mists. Like Deena had said before, the white, gray, and black could intermingle for a canvas to the new world. The frost was certainly another white. Snow was even more so. They represented something else that was vital for all life—air and water. They were substances that needed to be consumed at a constant in order to preserve and continue the biological cycle.

But then, there was a third element making its way in. This one was heralded by Elsie, for she believed deeply in what it governed—the mind. A storm of sparks and electricity blanketed the triangle that had been formed. Lightning, in all its forms, was a vital part of life as well. It is the electrical signals of the brain that allow the mind to shape and thrive. Similar pulses of communication allowed the brain to control the body and explore the world.

Janice had been using a spiritual bridge to link the elements, but Elsie thought that bridge of electricity was even better. Magnetism and all other forms of polarity were deeply related with the fabric of lightning. She reached for flame with the lightning, and the two danced together. It was a truth that great heat counterbalanced polarity, but magnetism could affect the flames as well. There was the smooth grace of flames and the jagged lights of lightning.

While fire and lightning were both friends and enemies, ice and lightning coexisted. Ice, with its interconnected structures, acted as an inhibitor. It slowed the lightning, allowing it to experience a longer moment in the present, whereas the power of lightning could assist in melting the ice to provide a better conduit through water and its ions. Both could pierce, if given the right shape, and neither interrupted the other very much.

Shield creates an invisible, tower shield-sized mobile disk of force that hovers in front of the user. It negates Chakra Missile attacks directed at the user. The Tower Shield acts like a normal shield and is applied against incorporeal attacks since it is a Force effect. The Shield also contains a Hardness of +4 in terms of Guard Meter. Once the Guard Meter runs out the Jutsu ends.

For a moment, the zeal between the intermixing elements was a bit too much. The personalities tried to fuse all three elements at once, and the effect bled dangerously into the true world. Raw, clashing elemental energy formed in front of them, and Vi had to step in and call upon a barrier of pure force. A great tower shield, invisible to those without the proper sight, appeared before her. It allowed them complete cover from the explosive energies as it discharged.

The shape of the shield, a great disk, was made visible as the explosion was blocked. Not literally visible, but the outline was it was seen as the debris struck it. The shield held like a proper tower shield should, while the unwanted damage rolled off its surface. The force repelled it with the efficiency of a solid object—an impressive feat for something that was once intangible spiritual energy.

As the dust settled, Vi touched the familiar energy, peeling the rigidity of it. Spiritual matters shouldn’t be ignored. Though the connection of electrical bonds was powerful enough to bring elements together, it was not free of elemental effects. Spirit and force had the benefit of purity. Without the corruption that so many elements indulged in, there wasn’t as much variety with force energy, but plainness was the starting point for true versatility.
