Hm, let’s give them some time to clean up. Vi said as she took a look at the debris.

She, calling once more upon her pure spiritual energy, let arcane force flood her backside. The energy focused on her shoulders, and took to copying the hidden wings that were already there. Their scarlet macaw wings were a beauty to look at, though the pure force was deprived of colors as well as elements, so it would not be nearly as extravagant as their existing wings. Instead, they copied form and function alone.

Quick burst of force energy was, as expected, a brief thing. It would be enough for a moment in time like the shield. Having too many wings stacked together with one another would be less than efficient, so a moment was more than enough. It was not meant to fly with, it was something to launch with. As the energy settled and was ready to discharge with a shape and moment, Vi crouched down and prepared to leap.

As she did jump, the ascending motion triggered the force energy. Inspired the act, the energy unfurled into a set of wings that moved for a single beat, adding a great amount of power to Vi’s jump. She ascended from the training room, slipping up to the outside from a part of the roof that was stone, so that she could phase in and out. Upon the rooftop she set her feet, and the wings of power faded till they ceased to exist.

Description: The speed jab is a variant in which the user takes the time to make fast pacing attacks making the jab come out and attack an opponent much faster. When the user first learns this technique they are able to jab twice in a single movement with their forward hand only performing jabs. When the user then learns the "B" rank version of this technique the user is able to attack three times in a single movement with their lead hand only performing jabs. When the user learns the "A" rank version of this attack the user is able to attack four times in a single movement with their lead hand only performing jabs.

While outside in the fresh air, Alida took over for Vi and summoned a few crystal targets to mess with for the fun of it. She practiced her boxing style, and use the quick and reliable speed jabs against the cylindrical targets she created. With only her fists alone, the damage wasn’t too severe. She hardly cracked the targets with a couple sequential punches. For her full power, she needed to be more creative with what covered her fists.

However, this was enough for the moment. Her goal wasn’t to immediately shatter her targets. It was to practice and buy time for the training room to be cleaned up. So, she continued to punch the targets with many quick jabs, slowly tearing away at the defenses bit by bit until it finally faltered and the crystal target shattered apart. It took maybe two dozen basic jabs to finally break apart her crystal. She was sure she could do it in half the time with full strength alone, though.

As the targets were shattered, she created new ones with more obstacles to take note of. She began to create targets with spikes in certain regions, she that she had places to avoid punching as she practiced. The more targets the created, the more spikes she added, until the later era of crystal targets only have a couple weak points that she needed to strike at with pinpoint accuracy. She hunted for those spots, and even made the targets capable of rotating for more of a challenge.

Undead creatures take an additional +2 Armour Points of damage per Class Level. A creature struck by the mace becomes paralyzed for 1 round. While the user is holding the mace, if they are targeted with a Jutsu, the user may choose to have the mace absorb that Jutsu (Equal to the Damage the mace can perform). The mace occupies the user's hand but does not disappear if the user performs another Jutsu. When the mace strikes a creature, is used to absorb a Jutsu, or is removed from the user's grasp, it vanishes.

As all the bustling of the activity beneath died down, the Phoros slipped back inside the training room. Alida landed, but another set of feet landed as well. On their way down, Deena had quite spontaneously made herself exist. She was difficult in that way. In her hands was a weapon that had been forged of energy, a mace of dangerous, paralyzing force. “What’s this, now?” Alida questioned as she dodged beneath a wide swipe with the mace.

“Boredom. You seem to be filled with vigor, so let’s have a fight—spars, they’d call it.” Deena grinned a wicked grin, and then dashed forth with the mace held high. Alida had never used that particular type of mace before, but she was familiar with what it could do. She kept dodging desperately—being hit would be an instant loss. Deena liked crushing victories like that. Pragmatists were like that.

But Alida was a pragmatist as well. She punched forth with all her strength and shot out blasts of power in response. Deena dodged those, though her mace did have the power to absorb them if needed. The two soul sisters knew what the other was doing. A melee strike would be an end to the match, but a ranged strike would be an end to the weapon. They kept on like that—Alida shot some strikes out and dodged away before the mace swung where she had stood.

Alida continued punching—switching to match the energy type being employed by Deena. Her fists were suddenly burdened with the power she desired, and so she moved in for infighting. Her hands struck out with raw force, pushing away the mace in a parrying maneuver. One fist was always kept up to parry while the other one struck at Deena. The positions had been reversed, and Alida had moved into being the aggressor.

Still, Deena grasped the mace with both hands and performed a powerful, wide swing. Alida had to employ both of her own hands to counteract the sheet strength of the mace. Despite striking with an attack to be rid of the threat, she very nearly suffered from being paralyzed. She shook her hands to loosen them off, trying to get the numb feeling out of her system. The mace swings kept coming, and she kept ducking and weaving out of the way.

Once her hands felt up to par again, she infused them with the force energy and dashed in. The exchange of blows began again. Eventually, she was able to force a direct hit onto the mace that Deena was finally forced to absorb, and so the fighters broke apart as their force energies faded into the surroundings. Deena stretched out her wrists and smiled, seeming satisfied with the exchange. “Okay, I suppose I can start being a bit fairer.”

Arcane Maul

Description: Affects the user. The duration of this technique lasts for 5 rounds per class level. In the user's hand they feel a force wrap around it. The shimmering shape of a warhammer appears before them, ready to be swung. This Jutsu creates a powerful aura of pure force that can be wielded as a melee weapon or hurled as an area attack. When the Jutsu is performed, the user chooses which version of the arcane maul to employ and in which hand to wield the melee version. An arcane maul cannot be first used in melee and then hurled, nor can the melee version be switched from hand to hand. When used as a melee weapon, an arcane maul acts as a Battle Hammer (8 Armour Points of Force Damage) for 5 rounds per Class Level. Used empty-handed, an arcane maul appears as a shim­mering, hammer-shaped force field. When it is used in a hand already holding a weapon, the shimmering force field wraps around both hand and weapon, but all effects of the material weapon (mundane or Chakra, including damage, and special abilities) are lost for the duration of the Jutsu. If hurled, an arcane maul shoots out from the user's fist as a line 15 meters long, then fills a 6-meter-radius burst at the end of its range. Creatures within the area of the line and burst take 12 Armour Points of Force Damage per Class Level and are stunned for 1 round. A hurled arcane maul damages objects in its area. It destroys non-Chakra crystal, glass, ceramic, or porcelain, smashing those substances into dozens of pieces. Objects that weigh more than 5 pounds per Class Level take damage as normal. If the damage caused to an interposing barrier shatters or breaks through it, an arcane maul can continue beyond the barrier if the area permits; otherwise it stops at the barrier just as any other Jutsu effect does.

Deena held out her hand, and in it, a warhammer of force appeared. Like the mace, it was a weapon of force, but its effects wouldn’t end the match immediately. It was a weapon that invited more risk and challenge, which Alida was grateful for—she didn’t say so out loud, of course. The two soul sisters weren’t on the best of terms. Matching her opponent, Alida held out her hand and summoned an identical warhammer of force.

That completed, the two soul sisters charged at one another. Their warhammers met at the center of the training room, and the sound of the clash reverberated throughout the room. Force against force was a strange feeling. It didn’t have the same type of recoil of true solid objects. There was just the barest moment of delay that seemed to cushion the impact, lessening the damage sustained by the hands, and yet there was more force in the weapon.

By being of energy, the weapons had the weakness of weightlessness. That was overcome by taking shape and borrowing an association with the users. It was the weight and presence of Deena and Alida that gave the new hammers their deadly power. One strike with them hit like a true sledgehammer. However, that wasn’t the upper limit of the technique. At the same time, the two soul sisters dismissed their hammers, and then summoned new ones to throw directly at each other.

Balancing this Chakra is associated with sexual vitality, physical power, and fertility.

Love—and its powerful emotions—stem from two places. Like all thoughts, it has residency in the mind, but it also has its place in your genitals. Oh, don’t blush, Tarah. You’re familiar enough with such things. Aryia has us all beat, despite her indulgence in compassion and peace. She is the mother among us, after all. Seek her memory if you want to know the pleasures that come from her lifetime. It is a fair and satisfying one.

Love heals, but not purely for a poetic reason. Those reasons are certainly still there, though. The mere thought of romance spurs us on. To be heroic for those we care for is the highest form of living among heroes. You’re no hero, Tarah, but chakra gates ignite into a flame upon interacting with the righteous spirits. Life is the highest priority of a body. It will sustain it at all cost, and it will sustain the lives of others as well as itself—that is the nature of heroic sacrifices.

No, what truly heals is the necessity of it. We must survive and thrive, and love is the emotion that dictates that. It shall dictate you in the same way. At first, the preservation of your own life is the most important aspect of life. That’s most of your life so far—baby to toddler, toddler to child, child to teen, and so on it goes. As you reach adulthood, the good of the many demands that you put yourself—the few—on a smaller pedestal.

You might not fall in love with another. In fact, you might fall in love with a purpose or an object, but you will fall in love nonetheless. That is a motivation born in us since the ancient times. Vi would argue that it has allowed us to live even further beyond. To love is to be at peace with something. It is to find joy at the mere presence of it. Since pleasure will then pour continuously from the beloved, it keeps the chakra gate of pleasure always at bay.

As you recognize your lives, you can draw about the power from within yourself. It shall be a great experience, and it shall literally restore you to health. Pleasure, as the opposite to pain, and be utilized as an emotional energy source. Instead of heralding harm like pain always does, it shall instead herald the betterment of your life. That is why this second chakra gate is the gate for healing. No bodily wound would dare stay long in a world of pleasure.

This is a taxing experience though, that is no doubt either. Your body will ache with the power granted by pleasure. In the same way that a person might be tortured with pain, you can kill them once you provide too much of a good thing. Do not heal beyond yourself, and do not let pleasure erase your mind from your body. That is the path that the drug addicts fall into. It is a difficult hole to crawl out of, and so we pity the victims and fear the situation.

Stepping away from a world of pleasure and returning to a world that seems lesser shall bring an ache that cannot be healed. This is a withdrawal. You will feel it as you abandon the power and let if fall behind you. When you activate the gate bound by pleasure, it will become a natural state for you. As such, when you withdraw, you will be heartbroken. The average life among the living is dull, and that dullness becomes pain.

An ultimate principle that you need not learn yet is the truth that life is suffering. To live is to suffer, and the key to that truth is largely found in this part of your body. Of course we shall always seek pleasure, and of course it shall always run from us. It never stays. Otherwise, what would be the point of motivation? We would evaporate as soon as our purpose or goal is fulfilled, because if pleasure does not run, then we can swim within it always.

Desire is a key to motivate, and so it is a key to life. We allow the continued existence of desire in search of one of its greatest rewards. That reward is the core of this chakra gate. To dwell in this region of the body is to revel in pleasure, and to go into this means making a secondary promise. Tarah, know this: there will always be pain waiting for you. It shall pass just as your joys shall pass, and then you will live on.

There are other sources of pleasure as well, even if we’ve been going on about love in particular. The other pleasures aren’t nearly as powerful, but they reign all the same. When you’re able to experience and recognize all the pleasures of the world, you can claim to be a true master of this chakra gate. Those other pleasures include the satisfaction of eating, the vitality of waking up at the right hour, returning to sleep at the wrong hour to wake, and pride in the past.

Obviously taking pride in the past is quite an advantage for us. We’ve lived a pretty rich life, all things considered. Go into the memories of your past lives and you will find glory, satisfaction, pride, happiness, laughter, and contentment. They are all of different intensities, and always it shall fade into nothing more than a memory that brings about a smile. We do not remember the road. We shall remember the pleasures that we’ve opened ourselves to.

Beware one thing, though, Tarah. You must live a life you do not regret. Do not regret us as you seek the power of this gate. Do not feel guilt as you heal yourself of wounds. It is guilt that ties us to suffering by displeasure, and so it is guilt that blocks the proper flow of this chakra. When you act, you must be decisive. Do not linger for what could be. That only invites an interruption—people may steal away what you had thought or considered. Always act.

That is what shall allow you to always unlock this second gate.

Know this, little sister. Your power has long been unlocked. Releasing it once more is not a difficult task. Let us begin with the most inconsequential—that which resides in your hands. They are the most useful part of your outer body, and so we will always be familiar with the power nested there. Specifically, your ring fingers hold both physical and symbolic importance. Marriage and power are drawn by witnessing rings upon those fingers.

The rings are a union. They have always been a bridge for the rest of your fingers. There are so few opportunities for the ring finger to shine above the rest of the fingers. Most people on this world can even move that finger without moving another. Ultimately, though, that finger does not mind being a bridge for unity. It is its ultimate purpose. It does not need to hold like the thumb, point like the index, curse like the middle, or posture like the pinky. It is there to aid.

So, with the chakra gate of pleasure you have opened for yourself, behold the end game for the social life of the romantic. Marriage, a relationship bound full of power, is symbolized by the ring. That symbol is placed on the finger of unity not by accident, but by necessity. There, the ring shall not interfere with other purposes and functions. The next source you must reach is your feet. They are not as useful as your fingers, but they’ve seen more use overall. So much of our lives are spent upon our feet. They hold the greatest burden—that from everything above them. Above your feet is the self, yourself. Alongside that, your feet shall tether your unto the world. It pushes the floor down just as it lifts you up—one continuous and linked motion that goes on for all your lives.

The feet are separate, but one. Every motion by one foot invites the motion of the other. Balancing is done with the feet in unison. To move with stealth befitting an assassin, you must control the feet to the best of your ability. One foot assaults with an attack during a kick while the other foot keeps you steady along your path. Motion and countermotion—a consequence for every action—is built into your feet.

Having been able to hold the burdens of the body, and to juggle the necessities of motion and countermotion, it is no wonder that a person is able to easily charge this part of the body with an aspect of pure energy. The feet have balanced for all your lives, so one more pint of raw energy is nothing to its ages of experience. Respect the ingenuity of the feet—by miracles of nature, it can hold you up till the day you die so long as it remains not slain.

The hands themselves, including the palms and all the fingers, are a separate source of power from the ring fingers. Do you know why that is? That which holds weight beneath us is done through the fingers. That which holds weight that’s up above is by the hand. We can only steady things with our fingers, but it is by the palm that we make contact with something we’re holding up. In short, that means putting the weight of your body behind something.

Fingers can’t handle that burden. They would snap and break beneath the challenge. The ring fingers had united the fingers themselves, but the hand is the whole. It is what unites the fingers to the body, and so to the system of energies with which you can charge your powers with. Hands, together, come to mold the seals that allow us the use of ninjutsu. That some shaping ability can be imbued in the hands themselves—power held.

Power is often held in the palm of one’s hands. It is by hands that we seal contracts and promises. It is with hands that we carry and with hands that we push. One’s strength and power always uses the hands as their first receptacle. So, in that capacity, we shall use it to carry more power still. If you are wearing gauntlets, they shall not impede you. If a seal it places at the band of your hand, it shall not get in your way either. This power shall be shaped inside the hand itself.
