It seemed as this method of created faux philosopher's stones worked to some degree, but resulted in huge backlash if the individual did not supply enough blood, power, or both. Tachibana postulated the key here was some sort of intrinsic energy within the blood - perhaps something even more mysterious than chakra, something like the energy of life. He noted such within his notes as he went about coming up with a new experimental method. There was one truth though, he'd need much more blood and a bigger glass piece to test.
So he set about creating a much large piece of this so-called faux philosopher stone, dousing glass with his own blood before infusing chakra into it. He did this over and over again, failing the majority of the time. The times he did succeed he wasn't happy with his result. Tachibana had developed a sort of way to map out the successes from least to most probably powerful. It all had to do with the resulting color the shard after the infusion. A darker more sanguine color meant that the resulting shard was far more 'pure' and likely had within it much more energy.
At the end of a series of tries over the period of a few days he had approximately five successes. Three of these successes were of the lowest caliber, one was one tier above that, and the final was a near-perfect specimen. It was likely that the near-perfect specimen contained as much power as all the other combined and that fact meant that he basicaly had two tries to replicate his results from before. With this much 'energy' gathered he could also likely attempt something much grander in scale. Repairing a mundane object back to a fixed state could be seen as a very low scale application of the power capable of being used with the philosopher's stone. Healing an injury... that was much more interesting.
He created a superficial injury across his arm, deeming it the most appropriate place for such with so much in the way of it becoming more serious. To do this he simply brushed his arm along the edge of his sword, creating a gash that bled but wouldn't kill him should he not get it treated right away. Pressing all the stones in one tightly compacted ball in his palm to the wound, he began the process of transmutation.
