Fort Sunderland
Off the coast of Dúfa, a crystal fort has been erected out of the sea. This is the headquarters for the emergency chūnin exams. The chief chūnin commissioner, Ambra, has opened this fort for approved genin seeking to show their worth as chūnin candidates.
The fort is made from glossy, opaque white quartz. It stands like a pentagonal castle, and a watchtower stands at each of the five corners. Guardians of immense abilities patrol the region and each of the towers. The only entryway into the fort is the northern tower. Through its double doors, there is a stairway leading down to the preparation room of the examiners. A miniature model map of the five alter islands is set upon a table in the center.
Ambra sits in the commanding seat by the map. Her mastery of illusion genjutsu is being used to paint the map with relevant information on each of the alter islands.
The second-in-command examiner sits at a reception table near the bottom of the entry stairs. When genin arrive, they are to have their documents and identities verified for entry into the exam. Once they are approved, a transportation ritual seal will be stamped upon the genin's back.
Alter Seal
This specialized seal keeps track of the orbs destroyed by the genin and transports them out of the alter islands once the total is reached. When an orb is destroyed by the seal holder, a black circle will appear in the hollow center. Five circles will trigger the transport. Orbs destroyed by multiple people at the exact same time will randomly count for only one person's seal.
Five portals, one for each of the alter islands, are down another flight of stairs. There are two guardians watching the portal stairway and two more guardians in front of the portal. The alter islands themselves are quarantined with various chakra, soul, and energy barriers. This makes the portals the only way onto the islands. People with the alter seal stamped on them will be able to use the portals as two-way transportation.
People may sneak into the fortress and portals. However, it will be a one-way trip. Entering the alter islands without an alter seal will result in being stuck on the islands until the exam ends and the quarantine is lifted.
Genin seeking to be promoted may arrive after the deadline so long as the exam is still ongoing. As a consequence for being late, and besides the natural consequence of there being less orbs and more threats, these genin may not bring any tools or weapons with them through the portals.
The portals are made from highly concentrated chakra. Clones and other supernatural constructs, no matter how perfect, are destroyed on contact. Any techniques that require activation or concentration are also disabled when a person moves through the portal. Passing through the portal is akin to being hit by a powerful dispelling effect. When a person arrives on the alter islands, they arrive with no techniques or abilities active, and they lose any and all supernatural links. Participants with certain elemental body bloodlines are advised to run through the portal as fast as possible to avoid leaving their bodies behind.
For any participants that are somehow made out of pure chakra or other materials that make it impossible for them to utilize the portals without dying, there is a cannon on top of the fort that can shoot the participant into the alter islands. The transport pods launched by the cannon have seals that let them bypass all the barriers one time, though the seals only work if there's someone inside the pod with the alter seal stamped on them.
The plaque placed next to the double door entrance reads,
"Feel free to talk to any guardian or examiner if you have comments, questions, or concerns. They're here to help! Try not to die and enjoy your time in the emergency chūnin exams!"
