It seemed only logical to take the next step in the progression, to move onto the next ritual. But, the connection was more than that, while the last fūinjutsu augmented the bearer's knowledge of academia the next one on the young Mizukage's list augmented some of its bearer's physical skills. Namely, their ability to observe minute details. Yoko was already extremely skilled in the art of observing small changes in her environment possessing an almost uncanny gift for it.

If something was off in the surrounding area, a shadow moved in a far-off distance or even the subtle draw of a bowstring at some distance, chances were that she could observe it, and even if she couldn't it was certainly something that she wanted to be able to do. Thus, when given the option to pursue this ritual she was delighted reading through the books to obtain further information into how exactly it all functioned. “Analytical” another equally boastful name, that offered insight into exactly what the ritual was offering.

It seemed that at a low level the seal offered a boon so small it might even be trivial, however as things developed it offered a unique power to its user, one that the youth was keen to capitalise on. As such, she decided to practise the ritual with the view to performing it on a piece of her equipment and her companions' in the near future. She set down the book and went to work tracing the inscriptions out onto a piece of paper a few times until she was happy with the form they had taken.

Again the youth was aware that her progress with the rituals was going to be hampered by her lack of the greater enchant seal, an issue that had plagued her and her progress for some months now. But even if that was the case she could still lay the foundation for things to come. Thus, she reviewed the work that she had carried out on the Analytical seal to see any potential error in her notation of means by which she could improve upon her work.

The general idea being—as it was before—to double the effectiveness of the ritual for relatively little in the way of cost to her in terms of time. The fūinjutsu had several areas which could be improved upon, Yoko was starting to gain sufficient skill by which she could spot these errors merely by rereading what she had written, perhaps a sign that as a ritualist she was improving. As such, here next move was to clean up these errors and then do a trial run, on a material like her subject this time rather than a sheet of paper.

She took out a useable model that represented the headwear that she intended to use in the future, this would serve as her template for the coming events. And while the material might have differed and so did the quality of the good the proportions were accurate to the millimetre. As such, as she worked with the material she continued to build up a sense of success: that she would be able to replicate the ritual and its effects on the piece that was to come.

Yoko returned from the rogue training area spurred on by a new sense of knowledge and understanding about her craft, so much so in fact that she sought to hone her focus in on the activity. This was to be her final act in the training of the jewellery art before her first creation so she had to make it count! She pulled out one of her trusty tomes and set about learning every scrap of information she could, not just about crafting as a whole but really honing in on what made jewellery so different.

It turned out that the task was not all that difficult, the hardest thing was coming up with the designs that you wanted to use and control the tools in a fine manner. This, of course, prompted the idea, what exactly was the youth to create. She knew the number, but not the specifics. She pressed on flicking through books that offered insight into the inner workings of the art hoping to find inspiration there. She read for a good thirty minutes or so before finding something that resonated with her.

She liked the idea of an inscription in the ring that activated under certain conditions, perhaps a verbal incantation. The art seemed to be a rather difficult one that combined a skilled use of chakra with the technical aspect of the jeweller's art. Even so, the youth pressed on keen to learn more about what differentiated jewellers from the other paths that she could have taken. With this research came a deeper understanding of her art that was sure to assist her in the times to come.

Yoko thought that her training in the art of jewellery was over, however, it seemed that she had called things too soon, for while she had managed to really hone her skills in on the subject she still lacked what could be thought of as a professional standard, which for obvious purposes she wanted to obtain. Thus, she committed herself to learn what the difference was between someone just having a go at crafting on the weekend and someone who practised the trade professionally.

The first stark difference seemed to be efficiency, a professional practitioner rarely wasted the materials that they used but it was more than that, even when they performed patchwork or cuttings they seemed to know exactly how much to use. Certainly, an interesting aspect of the craft but how does one go about incorporating it into their work? This was a rather challenging question for the one and unfortunately, one that her book offered little insight into.

All that she could do was continue to perform her new found craft, enhancing what she already knew to a higher level. And hope that she picked the small traits and habits up that would put her performance over the invisible limit that divides hobbyist and professional crafters. With that in mind, the youth conducted a few trial attempts to see how she got on with the materials and to see whether there were any glaring weaknesses in her current form.

The art of crafting garments was a difficult one, and one that the youth recognized she would have to commit a great deal of knowledge and time towards if she wanted to outperform what was currently available on the market. And while she had already learned about the specifics involved in the making of garments such as shirts there was still much more for the youth to cover if she was to be expected to produce a full range of attire.

Thus, she resolved herself to further study, sitting down and taking out her book through which she read about the various types of garments out there and how to create them at a very basic level. For example a belt and boots, in her mind these two items in addition to the base layer that she intended to create really set the fundamental workings for what was required by a ninja, a form of clothing for the legs was probably also required as well now that she thought about it.

But each of the garments required a different approach if not the use of different materials. And the materials used produced notably different results and required different means of preparation. It was quickly becoming apparent to the youth that while this path of crafting might not require the detailed work that jewellery constantly demand it required a different skill set of remembering a vast number of patterns for use at different times.

Yoko thought it was best to focus on specific things that she wanted to craft that would fall under this domain, most notably the aforementioned items but for each of her companions. For example, the footwear that she and her pipefox wore while in humanoid form would differ wildly from the footwear that she would create for her kirin: horseshoes. Thus, it was clear that she needed to research and brush up on her knowledge of exactly what to do.

Fortunately, Yoko had been around horses enough to understand how and why a horseshoe was used, so she felt safe in the knowledge of their purpose along with the form and function of a saddle. Thus, she just needed—in her mind at least—to cover the particulars of each item so that she could apply them to the real world. The difficulty was that these items were traditionally made from leather. And while she specialized in the use of leather, it was still a harder substance to work than leather from terms of available knowledge.

Thus, she resolved to seek out alternative means by which she could replicate the other effects to the best of her abilities. She was quite aware that this was in general a difficult task due to the rarity of the materials sometimes required or the specific mentioning of the materials, for example, you had to specifically use certain types of hide to get the end result that you wanted with certain gloves, or so she had heard. Thus, simply changing them to metal would not work. There had to be an alternative means.

For example Yoko knew that if she wanted to work with rare gloves such as the specially crafted gloves of digging then she would need to obtain a creature's hide that came from that exact creature, simply substituting it out for cow hide or traditional leather would not result with the same effect but rather ineffective gloves that offered little in the way of results over and above what could be expected from their leather counterparts.

Thus, the youth needed to commit the list to memory? Note down the items of interest that she wanted to craft, go out find those creature's obtain their hides and then use them for her own purpose as was the natural way of the world. The power of those creatures would empower her, but even so, she would have preferred being able to substitute the hide of living creatures out for an alternative.

As a result, the youth looked into how to create the same garments from leather substitutes namely wood based products as opposed to those constructed from oil based products. The task clearly was not an easy one, but she resolved that with sufficient mastery of the crafting art that she would be able to achieve this task even if it was a difficult one. She could even create the shirt from the natural fibers of the plants, which made a great deal more sense to her than using the hair of a creature that she had forcefully taken.

Yoko took to reading yet another of her books in search of rituals that could be applied to the footwear she was soon to create, it was during this research that she happened upon quite the surprising finding. For while the pages practically overflowed with inscriptions for weapons or armour there was very little in the way of seals for footwear. A disappointing premise even if she did say so herself. This did, however, mean that the youth was afforded the opportunity to make two pairs of shoes for use allowing her to access both of the benefits.

The first of the seals that Yoko looked upon was undoubtedly quite narrow in focus, Earth sense. No, the ability did not allow one to literally sense the earth around them but rather to use tremorsense presumably to read the movements of others through contact with the floor. Alas, it seemed that this seal was merely a shoddy substitute for the real deal, yes it still provided a sizeable benefit to its user but Yoko had heard of masters of the art who could sense their surroundings for miles.

Rumour even had it that there was a blind master in the Land of Water's swamp who was powerful that they could see everywhere on the continent providing there was a tree or earth nearby. When compared to a power like that it wasn't hard to see why the youth was left somewhat disappointed. There was however an upside, namely, Yoko was unable to use tremoursense. Thus, even if it was a substantially weakened version of the power she would still be gaining something new.

Even so, the youth was aware that through diligent study and a careful application of her time she could further augment the ritual so that its effects possessed more power than normal. Per the details of the book, she was reading this would see an increase in two respects, first and foremost the range of the uncanny ability was doubled, from twelve metres to twenty-four metres, an impressive increase. Then there was the fact that the number of useages increased as well.

With an improved version of the ritual one could activate the power twice a day, thus, the effective duration was doubled along with the range. But how was this achieved? Well that was what the books were for? Yoko again committed herself to her scriptures, reading through a detailed account by a far-off sage about how one could increase the power of their abilities. The first example seemed to be to change the details of the ritual in a rather minor way to further optimise the effects.

Another method suggested that the amount of chakra poured into the ring and by proxy the item needed to be increased, with another suggesting that it was the control and precision with which one used their chakra that determined the overall effect of the technique. Either way, it seemed that Yoko needed to practise the technique on a set of boots to see what the end result would be. As such, she made preparations to take her experiment from the theoretical to the practical stage.

The next technique on Yoko's list was also for footwear, Nullstep. An aptly named technique, that promised to augment one's stealth abilities and the difficulty with which one was tracked. Interestingly enough as the youth read over the details of the technique she felt no desire—at this present moment in time—to learn the more advanced levels of the technique, rather the mundane version of the skill was more than sufficient for what she had in mind.

She was quick to practise putting the specifics of the seal into action, noting the effects they had on the environment around her along with her skill and that of her companions. Being able to hide the number of people in your party certainly was a boon, especially for what the youth planned. Thus, it should have come as no surprise that Yoko wanted to obtain it. Through her diligent experimenting, she was quick to observe the things about the ritual that worked along with those that did not.

For example, when she first tried the ritual the tracks remained somewhat visible, whereas her stealth skills were likely boosted. For her step was especially silent on this occasion and not least because of her small figure. Thus, the youth return to her study of the books from which she drew the ritual, seeking to learn exactly how one got the ritual to function as intended, was there a special material that was required to make the boots fully stealthed?
