Rogue was fascinated with the improvements and asked, "And how did you do all of that?" Valerys just smiled. "Just some special skills," she said, which was not a lie, but she used her acting prowess to keep the rest of the information hidden -- even from her body language. Rogue seemed to get the hint and said that Valerys would need to teach her sometime, which Valerys agreed to do. She decided that she had accomplished her mission of trying to befriend Rogue and prepared herself for the night. When Valerys went to her room and got ready for bed she thought about Eldwich, Rarilue, and Rogue and how she had decieved them. It brought her nothing other than joy. She ran over the information in her head that she had acquired about them in case she needed to act like one of them again, but thought that she had probably done enough of that for now. Her acting was starting to get much better, and she knew that now she was going to have to move on to more complex situations.

The next day Valerys got together with all three of her "friends" who she had been manipulating with her acting abilities. They were happy to see her, a good sign, and Valerys told them that they could help her if they wanted. Because of Rogue's sense motive abilities, Valerys knew that she would be a big part of her training regime. The four them started with some short sparring exercises, which involved Valerys attempting to feint them all during combat. Rarilue and Eldwich were relatively easy to decieve, manuevering through their defenses with little issue. Rogue, however, was harder to read and she seemed to read Valerys very well -- but in the end Valerys was able to fool even her and get around her minor defenses. "There is much advantage to good acting," Rogue complimented, "You are clearly well on your way." Valerys then began to ask the others what they knew of acting, and what else the four of them could work on.

Rarilue mentioned that one could convey secret messages by acting, and Valerys decided that this could be worth mastering. Due to her sense motive skills, Rogue was used to try to make out the hidden message. Meanwhile, Valerys used her acting skills and spoke to Rarilue, getting a message in her head and using subtle cues and sounds to make him understand. The message was "Things are not what they seem," and at first Rarilue didn't get it at all. Valerys found it difficult to hide a message while Rogue was looking right after her, but after a while she began to get creative. While Rogue would watch her lips and listen to her words, Valerys would be making hand motions at Rarilue and Eldwich when she could. When Rogue would look at her hands, Valerys would try to mouth the message to them. It was Eldwich who got it first and yelled out the statement, which Rogue admitted that she no idea about.

After Valerys had conveyed this message, she was beginning to get a much better grasp of how acting worked and how much it had to do with one's own conscious awareness. Rogue had tried to explain it before, telling her to get into the mindset of her personas, and she was beginning to feel this advice throughout her body. Everytime she told a lie her body would begin to mimic her thoughts, letting itself be close when trying to imitate humility or wide open when displaying confidence. This minute body movements had a drastic change on one's acting performance, and even though Valerys was just using this group of people they genuinely thought that she was their friend. "You know, I have an idea," Valerys said, getting particularly deceptive, "I saw a man earlier outside of the dojo. If you three would go with me, I think that we could find and track him down." Of course none of this was true, but Valerys had discovered quite the opportunity.

The three of them agreed and Valerys traveled with them outside of the gates that encapsulated the dojo, cracked as they might have been, making their way through the desert and down to where she had claimed to see the man. All of them attempted to look around and discover clues, and Valerys told lies all along the way -- about what he looked like as she had done with Rarilue before, or about what he had told her. That he was part of a secret organization that had great power and that he wanted to use her to discover unknown techniques. She said this both to fascinate her little group and make them more interested in coming along. They believed her and soon, even though it was starting to get dark and close to nightfall, the four of them were adventuring through the desert at night. "So how do you know so much?" Eldwich would ask Valerys as they were walking. Valerys smiled, ready to spin herself yet another tall tale.

"I've grown up around many great and powerful chakra weilders, ever since I was young," Valerys lied to the three of them, making it an even more difficult acting job with so many eyes on her, "They often trained and taught me their ways, so I discovered many new and unusual skills. Although I am just now learning some of the most basic arts, I have developed skills that no one else knows. Many of them have told me that I am a Chosen One and that I am destined to lead." The three of them looked at her, dumbfounded, and began fawning over her immediately. Valerys took in the spotlight and let them compliment her, knowing that now even more unbelievable lies were starting to seem true to these simple-minded students. "I was told that one day I would find three siblings who would also be brought with me into greatness." The three of them looked around at each other, debating if it was indeed themselves.

After that the four of them walked in silence for some time, which gave Valerys the perfect opening that she needed to practice some other techniques. Although she didn't necessarily want to help these people, she did need to train her skills and so Valerys started trying to imbue Rogue with her technique Boost of the Sage. The difficult part, however, was that she was intent on doing so without Rogue ever being able to see her forming the handseals, another part of being a good actor. Thanks to the night and lack of light, Valerys had an advantage, and so she tried forming the handseals but Rogue was too fast for her. She whipped her head around, her red hair swirling around her head, and she said, "What are you doing?" For a second Valerys felt as if she had been caught red-handed, but then used it as an opportunity to do a bit more lying.

"What was I doing?" Valerys reiterated, "Nothing except trying to help all of you. I was going to use a genjutsu technique in order to make you all better for the upcoming battles -- if there are any." Rogue looked a bit suspicious, but Valerys pulled through and soon enough they were wanting her to use the technique on them. Valerys cursed to herself, upset that it had come to helping them like this, but knew that she had made her way out of the situation. So, when they got to walking again, Valerys tried once again to hide her handseals and use a technique on them. This time, however, it was a bit more potent and Valerys used Friend to Foe on Rarilue to make him think that Rogue was now the person he hated the most. She had to keep her hands out of view of all three of her comrades, but had learned from her experience with Rogue and kept her hands down and head up. Soon enough she was manipulating her chakra and delivering the technique -- never being seen by any of them.

Suddenly, Rarilue was on top of Rogue. He stopped walking forward and rushed at her to attack. Valerys acted as if she didn't expect this to happen, displaying facial and body expressions of shock and giving Rarilue the time to make a cut to Rogue's arm. Rogue, getting defensive, attacked back but Valerys suddenly body flickered forward and grabbed their hands. She then disbanded her technique, putting Lue back to his original self. "Wha... What happened?" Lue asked. Valerys looked at him, trying to show a little bit of pity that she did not really have for him. Rogue was breathing hard, not sure what to think at this point. "Something happened to you," Valerys explained, "I think that you were manipulated into acting Rogue by whoever the man was that was trying to attack me earlier."

"What do you mean?" Rarilue asked, afraid and just wanting to believe in somebody. Tricking him was going to be easy Valerys knew. "What do you think Lue? This man has been watching and studying us, and he is probably watching us even now. He had the strength to manipulate your mind so it is probably some sort of genjutsu. We need to find him and make sure that he is not able to get away. He must be somewhere close by." With that the four of them split up, looking over sand dunes and around corners to try to find the man that did not exist. Valerys put on a good show, making herself look as if she was genuinely trying to find something -- adding just enough anxious features to make it seem oddly important. The four of them were soon out of eyesight and it was difficult to see (except for Valerys who had dark vision). Valerys took the opportunity to up the paranoia even more. She started forming more handseals, which were even more difficult to spot than the ones she used earlier.

She had quite a bit of time and enough acting abilities to hide the handseals for Phantasm Terrain, making it very difficult for all of her allies to move around. Suddenly they thought that they were in a horrific world and could not move, stumbling around and giving Valerys the perfect opportunity to do whatever she wanted. Valerys got on the ground and thought about the persona that she was about to take on before disbanding her genjutsu and letting the group see her. Valerys had started pretending to play dead, lying prone on the ground with her eyes closed. Rarilue ran over to her first and started yelling, "Valerys! Valerys! Wake up now." He got on her eyes and started to check her vitals, but she was doing an incredible job. Valerys had even succeeded in slowing down her breathing and heart beat, making it almost impossible to determine that she was still alive. Eventually Rogue and Eldwich made their way over as well.

Soon all three of them were wondering what to do with her. "Is she really dead?" Rogue wondered, "She said that she was the Chosen One and that we were with her?" Eldwich looked her over and then said exactly what Valerys had wanted to hear. "We'll have to take her back. Here, put her on my back." Rogue and Rarilue went to pick her up and Valerys hung her body limp, allowing herself to become deadweight on Eldwich's back. It was difficult to pretend to be dead when you were not, especially as people tried to pick up your body, but Valerys succeeded and noted that her acting skill had already become more than than ten times what it had been in the beginning of these exercises. With that, Eldwich began to carry her back to the dojo so in that way Valerys did not even have to walk back. As he carried her, Valerys smiled a little bit and waited for the four of them to return home.

The four of them returned to the dojo with Valerys still pretending to be dead or asleep on Eldwich's back. They took her to her room and placed her on the bed, where Valerys acted as if she was coming out of consciousness. She blinked her eyes a little and twitched her fingers, then jolted upright. "What? What happened?" Her three comrades looked at her, surprised, and said, "We thought you were dead." Valerys laughed and said, "It'd take more than that to kill me. Now, what happened?" They told her what she already knew, that it seemed like the man had used another genjutsu and she must have passed out afterwards. Valerys acted as if she was disappointed with herself, chastising herself for passing out and ruining their mission. Eldwich, Lue, and Rogue tried to make her feel better, reminding her that they did consider themselves her friends.

After that the three of them decided that they should leave and give Valerys her rest (completely under her spell) and gave her time to sit and think about everything that she had learned that day. She had learned a lot about acting, but even more about these people that she now found herself living around and interacting with. She never thought that she would be so involved with them, but found their relationship could be beneficial -- just like so many of her mentors and allies before them. It was a shame that evil people were so difficult to come by. Valerys went to bed that night and didn't see any of them again until later the next day. Valerys made her way around the dojo and as she saw Eldwich, Lue, and Rogue she acted friendly with them. She always put on the smile that Rogue had taught her and said kind things, and not one of them ever expected her true intentions. Soon the three of them seemed to want to follow her, little realizing that almost everything she had told them over the past couple of days had been a lie. But Valerys took pride in her newfound abilities and told them that she would be busy with other stuff for a while -- they had helped her learn what she needed to learn.

As Valerys was becoming more accustomed to the dojo, she began to notice more and more faces. The students and mentors were becoming more familiar and, eventually, she was figuring out their unique bloodlines and abilities as well. It turned out that Eldwich was an Uchiha, albeit not entirely powerful yet, and she wondered on this for many hours. She had never heard of the Uchiha bloodlimit, but as Eldwich told her about it Valerys immediately knew that it was something that she had to study. The Uchihas seemed to specialize in a specific doujutsu that was highly coveted, known as the Sharingan eye. At first Eldwich was loathe to talk to Valerys about it, but she could be quite convincing when she wanted to be.

The sharingan eye possessed several key characteristics, according to Eldwich, and Valerys tried to remember them all as they were thrown at her. There was the ability to recognize and memorize techniques and movements, making training them at a later date much easier. It turned out that they could also predict future movements which gave a keen edge when an opponent was using taijutsu. Valerys kept this in mind, knowing that most of her own techniques relied on taijutsu and knew she should avoid this if it came down to it. Additionally, the eye had rare genjutsu powers -- a cornerstone of most Uchiha members. Valerys kept this in mind as well. To her knowledge was power, and this sort of knowledge could be invaluable in the right context.

In order to demonstrate the power of the Uchiha, Eldwich allowed his own Sharingan eye to flourish changing into a red eye with strange black symbols called the tomoe. Eldwich explained that he only had two of them, but the greatest Uchihas had three. After that he and Valerys sparred for a short time, just long enough that he could show her the power that he possessed in combat. Through this first-hand experience, Valerys was able to determine properties of the Uchiha that she couldn't have otherwise. The way that they fought, how the eye could read her movements, and more which she kept tucked away in her memory bank. When they were done, the two of them sat in the shade of one of the towers and began to talk about the long and drawn out history of the Uchiha clan.

"It is said that the Uchiha came to be from the Hyuuga clan," Eldwich explained as the two of them sat in the shade. "That their doujutsu stemmed from the same power, but became more enhanced and grew in power -- even beyond the Byuukugan. The Tengu clan, mystics who fancied themselves chosen by god, mixed blood with the Hyuuga and bred the Uchihas who were eventually split off as their own individual clan." Valerys listened closely and let the sweat roll down her body. Learning about an usual and secret bloodlimit fascinated her and even though it was akin to a history lesson, Valerys was not bored. "Years later a young boy of the Uchiha went to the Land of Wind. It was then that something went wrong..."

"The Uchiha were wiped out. And although some of us were able to survive, none of us can remember what happened." Eldwich looked off, a little forlorn, and Valerys wondered what it was like -- to be part of a dying clan. Part of her wanted to laugh, but afraid that Eldwich would stop teaching her she held it inside. "Now the Uchiha are sparse and few, although still incredibly powerful. I come from a long line of warriors and intend to continue my mission." Although Valerys did not think that Eldwich held real power, she respected his desire to make a name for his clan. Reputation was important, and not many understood this. "I see," Valerys said in response, "Thank you for talking to me about all of this. If you don't mind, might I ask some questions?" Eldwich was agreeable.
