Tomomi's efforts continued to be met by nothing. There was no acknowledgement other than perhaps a nod as a treated patient left. Despite Tomo's increasing proficiency, Tomo wasn't paid, or even thanked for his endeavors. Until this point in his visit with the Marines, he'd felt a sense of empathy or appreciation for the Marine's actions against him. He understood why they did what they did.

Tomomi was the possessor of an extremely rare bloodline ability, and because of that he'd been made into a slave. At first, the meaningless tasks he was forced to complete were fine. But as Tomo's skills improved, he realized just how thankless the Marine's were. Disgusting really. Perhaps, a disease that the world needs to be rid of.

And so, Tomomi's plans for escape took a different turn. Not only would he be escaping, but he'd be eradicating the Marines entirely. Curing the people of a plague, so-to-speak. But now, we return to Tomo's doldrums.

Tomo was becoming better and better at his medical proficiency by the day. Broken bones and similarly difficult injuries became mindless efforts for Tomo. He could heal a broken bone even without looking at it sometimes. So Tomo continued to heal the Marines. Honestly he found it astonishing that there were so many injuries and illnesses among the Marines. Also, they didn't have anybody to treat them at sea?

How could the Marines Tolerate dealing with their injuries for days at sea, before returning to the medical ward at Marineford? He found it very strange. Tomo considered these thoughts while he dealt with the Marines for hours at a time. Many of the injuries were like... They got their ankle slammed in a hatch on their way in or out of a ship. Many times, the Marine in question refused to explain how he injured himself, out of sheer embarrassment.

Tomomi'd thoroughly tired himself of learning how to heal people. Unfortunately for Tomo, the Marine's had other ideas for him. He wasn't going to be let off easily, especially now that he had another skill that they found useful. However, on the fortunate side of things, he wouldn't need to waste his efforts much longer. All the time he spent healing Marines would be for nothing.

Soon, the Marines wouldn't exist, let alone need to worry about healing. So, Tomomi continued his toiling. Hour after hour, ailing warriors entered, seeking treatment. Tomo healed them as quickly as they arrived. Broken limbs, shattered bones and cartilage. It seemed that Tomomi'd advanced his skills far enough to heal even the worst of injuries resulting from combat. Although, severity definitely hampered his speed.

Tomo didn't seem to care though. Laboring for the rest of the day. The other medics noticed how bored he seemed, but yet he flawlessly maintained his tedium. Eventually, broken bones became a simple task he could complete in just a few moments. He still found himself incapable of healing entirely removed extremities. If an individual lost a finger, hand, or an entire limb, the best he could do is close the wound.

Tomo awoke in his bed, astonishingly devoid of any physical or mental ailings. In fact, he felt quite good this morning. The birds were chirping, the villagers were busy, Jimmerly wasn't anywhere near. He felt it was a fine morning to continue his practice with the Byakugan. Yesterday he'd exceeded his own expectations by several times, and expanded his visual ability thoroughly.

It was an eventful day, which ended disappointingly. Anyways, instead of getting out of bed, Tomo simply activated his Byakugan. He peered down from his shitty second story apartment to the streets below. He could see the entire block very clearly. He silently judged people as they went about his endeavors. He didn't have any pressing matters to attend today, so he thought perhaps he'd just stay in bed and watch.

He quickly developed a sense of amusement in peering into strangers business. He couldn't hear much of anything, but it's probably better that way. He watched carelessly while people went about their daily business. some of them were amusing for a few moments, others were entirely boring. The most boring individuals were the ones that passed through his sight without even making eye contact with anybody.

Tomo's vision expanded another ten meters or so. He was making good progress again. Perhaps not as quickly as before, but that's fine. He definitely felt like he was on the verge of something. It seemed as if his visual ability was growing by the moment. He continued to look down on the villagers as they scurried around. For a while one young man caught his eyes.

He possessed a bit more chakra than the average villager. Honestly he was probably a ninja by the look of it. There weren't many regular ass people walkin' around with that much chakra. It wasn't even close to what Tomo held regularly, but he definitely drew Tomo's attention. He was sitting on a bench in the park across the road minding his own business, as far as Tomo could tell.

Tomomi felt at ease watching the man. It was a wonderful feeling knowing that you're just... better in every way. As you can tell, Tomo's definitely feeling narcissistic at the moment. He examined the man carefully, noticing subtle fluctuations in his chakra system. Sometimes his chakra sped up or slowed slightly, perhaps indicating a change in mood. Tomo didn't really know for sure, perhaps that's just what chakra does.

Tomo's vision improved. He could see so far now that each time his vision expanded seemed less impressive. What was originally an incredible jump from his natural ability had become a slight increase. It was less than ten percent now, which seemed slightly disappointing to be honest. He thought maybe he'd be able to improve by leaps and bounds by this point, but it was better than nothing I suppose.

Tomomi continued to focus on improving the distance that he could see. He experimented with attempting to concentrate in one direction and perhaps see even further. Unfortunately it didn't work. It seems that the Byakugan only see outward spherically. He can see the same distance in every direction - except for the blind spot of course. A disappointing conclusion, but mostly reasonable.

He quickly went back to watching people. It wasn't a creepy sort of watching, though. He simply attempted to notice details he couldn't see before. He tried to notice things at the very edge of his visual range. It gets blurry towards the limits, so Tomo exerted a bit of chakra. His efforts were to try and see the opposite side of a person within his range of sight. An effort that again, failed.

Tomo awoke once again. He'd been practicing with his Byakugan for a couple of days now. He'd only stopped a few times to eat, sleep, or for bowel movements. He could see further and clearer by the hour it seemed. He was definitely seeing results from his efforts. There were a few experiments that he attempted earlier, but all of them failed. It seemed that he wouldn't be able to do anything a regular Byakugan can't.

Tomomi felt somewhat proud of his progress. Perhaps soon he'd be able to make something truly great happen for himself. At his core, Tomomi is truly a selfish person. While he peered around the neighborhood some more, he imagined all of his self-centered desires. Money, women, underlings, treasures. He wanted it all. He imagined how much a position of power would change the opinions of those below.

He honestly didn't know a single person that came into his field a view. Out of all of the hundreds of people he saw, he recognized zero of them. All of them being strangers quickly changed his mood. If he used his charisma and ambition properly, wouldn't he certainly be able to put himself above these people? Oh, well... he'd save those thoughts for later.

Tomomi grew bored of watching people. It wasn't especially surprising considering how consistently he'd been training his Byakugan. It'd been at least a few days now, and he'd only paused briefly for necessities. He needed a change of scenery, and this was the time for it. He felt he only needed just a bit more training for a breakthrough, and he was going to move somewhere else to do it.

He quickly got dressed and left his apartment. He went to the very edge of the village, where he'd be able to see a ways out of the village. He was doing some sort of... voluntary vigilance shift. At least, that's the way he saw it. They should be glad that he presented his efforts towards the village in such a constructive way. Anyways, the edge of the village was quiet.

He sat, cross-legged against a wall, peering out into the distance. He could see at least a hundred meters now, maybe even a hundred and fifty. He pushed the limits of his visual acuity. He attempted to thoroughly focus the furthest reaches of his eyesight. He wanted to be able to read the finest details in his surroundings. In order to focus on the smallest leaf or pine needle on the trees further out he concentrated.

Tomomi shivered momentarily, continuing his examination of the village surroundings. He was astonishingly already suffering from the cold embrace of boredom. Or maybe he was just cold... Either way he regretted bringing a jacket. But instead of returning to his apartment, or going to a shop, he decided to power through his exasperation. His eyes returned quickly to his surroundings.

He'd been peering quite far into the distance for a while now. Honestly he hadn't seen much of anything to worry about. His efforts had been selfishly fruitless. The only creatures that foolishly wandered close enough for him to see, were too dumb to do so intentionally. He fixated on birds and other small creatures. Vermin mostly. It was slightly confusing to see them scurrying to comfortably.

Perhaps their coats of hair, fur, and feathers were much warmer than they appear to be. None of them even shivered slightly in the somewhat frigid air. Perhaps Tomo's feeling especially sensitive to the cold today, but he shivered slightly against the brisk winter air. Birds flew about in the trees, minding their business. Every once in a while, Tomo saw a larger creature, but none of them wandered close enough to inspect thoroughly.

Tomo had left his spot near the edge of the village, having grown bored of that spot too. He was also cold, so he needed some outerwear. Using his Byakugan he searched for a shop where he'd be able to buy a jacket of some kind. Quickly he found two shops where they might have a coat, but his tastes betrayed him. How could the one and only Tomo lower himself to the level of common plebian coverings?

He quickly turned away from both shops, and walked further towards the center of the village. It didn't matter the price of the jacket, he simply wished to have a nice looking stylish coat. He wanted it to be something he'd never see on anybody else. So he made his way quickly to the center of the downtown area of Kusa. He used his eyes to watch people along the way, but they were boring too.

Soon, his eyes fell upon a designer tailor shop which may or may not have what he's looking for. He searched through the place for a while, looking at each and every coat they had to offer, but he was disappointed. But then he came across the idea to use his Byakugan to check their back room. In the store room behind their sales floor, Tomo found an absurdly colored fur coat.

Tomo politely asked the man behind the counter about the coat he had in the back room. He looked confused for a moment, but shook his head after a few moments. He probably disregarded Tomo's knowledge of something he'd supposedly never seen as something unimportant. Instead, he explained to Tomomi that it was a failed product. It was a piece that refused to turn out the way he wanted.

It was supposed to be a custom made product apparently, but he couldn't sell it as it was. Tomo was excited to hear all about the tailoring of the item and how it was supposed to end up. Tomomi proceeded to flatter the man's work while he examined the coat out of the corner of his x-ray vision. It was a thoroughly perfect product. The outrageous orange color, combined with brown, black, and white spots and stripes were ideal.

It was definitely something a person might refer to as gaudy or garish. An article of clothing only the most outgoing and vogue individual could wear. Tomo spoke to the man about how much he loved the coat and how much he'd offer to possess it. But instead, the shopkeep gave the coat to him for free. Apparently he was going to sell it for the cost of the material, but was happy to see his product so appreciated.

Tomo grew closer to his goal every day. It was nearly time for him to move onto achieving instead of simply preparing every day. He had his complimentary coat, and with it he'd train in the chilly wintry air. His intention this time was to stubbornly progress his vision until he couldn't possibly train anymore. He decided to change his approach just slightly this time, though.

Instead of remaining fixed in one place to practice his vision, Tomomi was going to move about. He planned to walk around the outer edge of the village, peering outside. His two birds with one stone approach to his training was definitely going to provide results this time. Hopefully it also could cure his extreme boredom with practicing his Byakugan. So, he quickly rushed over there and began.

His eyes peered broadly into the distance. He could see into the village from where he stood, but he focused mostly out of the village. He could definitely see over 150 meters now, and was proud of this, but it wasn't enough. He strained his eyesight to the outer edge of his vision, focusing on the most minute details. The lines in the bark on trees, insects, grains of dirt, decomposing leaves. Everything.

Tomo fell under a slight dizzy spell for a moment. He struggled to see beyond his ability, and obviously experienced side-effects. He didn't give up though, after a few moments of catching his breath he moved on. He walked slowly around the edges of the village, peering thoroughly out into the distance. He could see quite far now, but not far enough. He wasn't done yet.

His feet produced a soft crunching sound upon the crispy wintered earth while he walked. There was a small layer of frost resting around the village. They typically warm village had definitely grown somewhat cool as of late. He examined the substance produced by moisture and cold air for a moment.
