While she had worked well to dispel some GenJutsu through the expansion of her chakra, Matsunaga had held back on enchantments and curses simply because Harue had not yet been endowed with the means to break those before GenJutsu itself.
Now, though, she was ready to dig deeper into the defensive means and only pauses their training session for a moment to explain to Harue these very things. After explaining to her the difference between the practice from moments ago and this one of future intention, Harue agreed to begin from the beginning.
This time, although it was consensual up front, Harue would be thwarting curses and other GenJutsu means of such natures, much useful for the lingering effects of stronger GenJutsu users. Annoying that they could be, it was good to prepare oneself for such possibilities.

At first, once again, Matsunaga began with simple things that Harue could decipher immediately. It was outside of her Tasukeru and Onigami heritage now though, relying singularly on her GenJutsu aptitude. It was not much different from dispelling normal GenJutsu.
There was one key difference and that was mainly that breaking enchantment was good when she needed to unbind herself from someone’s else’s whims and desires for her, whatever those future things may be. Harue did not want to be blind in those situations merely because they were of a slightly different perception.
She worked hard at ridding herself of the few curses that Matsunaga placed upon her at a time, and most of them were harmless. Harue was tempted to ask for a harder challenge but decided against it when Matsunaga seemed to read her mind, upping the power by only a nudge of a dial.

It was not too unlike thwarting the regular Jutsu but still had its significant differences that complicated a bit more, but Harue worked to overcome those hurdles as easily as she had before. It was not hard after she’d found her groove, but perhaps it was because she was aware of what to expect.
If Matsunaga had not warned her, would she have had the inherent strength to know how to break past the curses and lingering effects of stronger Jutsu, of eldritch afflictions, of mere curses? Would she have been able to rightfully practice alongside her sister had she not known how to respond?
It was not as though her sister was holding her hand through this exercise though, and she’d explained her process mostly ambiguously, needlessly so that Harue was a bit blind in her first approach aside from using what she had learned previously.

In the end, though, Matsunaga was not surprised when Harue displayed a mental prowess in retaliation to her many attempts to trip her up with the enchantment arts, and near the end of her attempts she had entirely forgone subtly and ease.
Now she treated Harue with hostility but not from the heart. Matsunaga only wanted for Harue to strengthen and be better than she herself could ever be, to better their chances against their mutual father. He was a master of GenJutsu and Harue would need to steel herself greatly.
These exercises and practice routines were excellent for preparing her, even if Harue was not keen to that endgame goal being the base of their meetings. If she did know, she would not have broken herself free of the curses and instead have given herself willingly. Instead, she was working to break anything thrown at her.
Command Illusions [Shadow] Rank: "A" Skill: GenJutsu Effect: User has the ability to command illusions of a certain type. Special: --- Drawback: Must learn once for every Illusory Perception: Figment, Glamour, Pattern, Phantasm, and Shadow. Description: User may take over an illusion of the type of Illusory Perception they learn this technique for. User must make a successful command check against the opponent's Jutsu. The command check is 1d20+5 per Class Level (Maximum +15) versus the opponent's 11+5 per Class Level. If successful, the user gains control of the targeted illusion for the rest of its duration. If, however, the user is unsuccessful the user may not attempt to command the targeted Illusion for 1 day. The user may learn this Jutsu multiple times and time the user learns this Jutsu it applies to a new type of Illusory Perception. Having command over an illusion allows the user to dismiss the Illusion even if the Jutsu is not usually dismissible. The user may also reverse the Jutsu against the opponent. Limit: Universal GenJutsu Technique. Must have Mastered the Perception they wish to Control.

After they had consistently worked through all the ways to break GenJutsu and separated for the day, they returned to their training together at the ramen shop that served as their usual rendezvous place. It seemed they were taking a moment away from their shared heritage in favor of their shared affinity.
Today they were discussing GenJutsu a bit more in depth, which began simply with Matsunaga questioning Harue’s set of perceptual attributes. As it were, she was only a master of the shadows. Matsunaga tutted but didn’t guffaw. Harue felt as though she would master more in time solely to wipe that look off her sister’s face though.
“Well,” she starts. “When you master the other perceptions, we can embellish those better as well. For now we will focus on your primary mastery though. What I want to help you do is simple in concept but complex in practice. We will strengthen your hold over the elements, even when casted by others.”

Harue tilted her head to the side, curious. She didn’t know she could strengthen illusions more than just as an overall, so she voices her curiosity. ”So I can add a better focus to my perceptions?” A bit confused, she tilted her head to the other side.
Matsunaga shook her head patiently. “No. You misunderstand. While it is your mastery over a perception that allows you to bound your hold over it, that is not what I mean necessarily. I’m talking about taking over the casted perceptional jutsu from offending parties.
“As I said, it is both simple and complex. At the core, it is the same as when you sense and disrupt an attempt on you, but with a reverse effect. You need to assume command of the shadow in the same instant that you ’break’ it, and turn it against the caster in a way that offers you complete control as if you were the caster itself.”

Harue understood much better now that she’d gone further in depth about it, but still Matsunaga lectured. She always had a mouthful of a lesson and Harue was always patiently waiting for the end, listening but preferring to put it to physical tests. Soon she’d ask for some visual direction, but until then she listened.
“It is not a sure thing every time. There is always the possibility to fail an attempt at taking over the reigns of a summoned perception. In this case it is shadows, so we shall work irrefutably with only them instead of trying to mix in the tutelage of perceptions you have not yet absorbed as a natural thing to you.”
Harue nodded, feeling almost impatient. She didn’t feel like being told of her flaws, instead electing to only hear what ish helpful. Flagging down a cup of tea, Harue listens as Matsunaga continues. “Once you have ‘sensed’ the shadow before you, you may try to take over it,” she’s saying.

Harue piped up. ”How?” She asks gracelessly, looking up from the small cup of tea newly set before her. Matsunaga looks at her wayward but continues regardless. “I suppose I did not go into depth with that bit earlier, hm?” Harue furrowed her brow. Had she gone over it?
Matsunaga had the grace to explain better anyways. “As I said, it is much like the disruption of someone’s attempt on you, and since you are suited with the shadows it would be impossible for you to miss them or your opportunity. When you have sensed and broken, your natural affinity will allow you the chance to overcome it, and make it your own. It is both simple-”
Harue cut her off, straightening in her chair. ”And complex. Yeah, yeah. I think I understand.” She did, for the most part, begin to have a grasp on the beginning of an understanding. She was not lost now as Matsunaga continued to go into detail about the chance to take another’s cast as hostage.

Apparently, Matsunaga was getting to know Harue. She smiled and turned to her sister, offering a chance to practice it tangibly. “We do not have to leave this time. We can cast upon the shadows across the way, and take turns seizing control. This is a very laid back exercise compared to the ones of late.”
Harue nodded, knowing. They turned in their bar stools, the shopkeepers by now learnt to not ask questions, and began their afar practice. First, Matsunaga had Harue erect a shadow figure so that she could demonstrate the borrowed control over the illusion.
Working directly under how Matsunaga told her to operate, Harue brought up a shadow as she normally would, animating the shadow cast by a long tree and twisting it into brambles of layered tendrils. She moved them wickedly, as if wrestling out of any chanced hold on them.

Harue thought she could maybe feel it, Matsunaga attempting to overrun her own creation, but she wasn’t entirely positive. Perhaps it was a sike of her mind, perhaps it was real. But in a moment, she found that it was as if a part of her cast chakra was stripped from her earlier than it was meant to.
It did not hurt or burn but it was an alive feeling that Harue knew immediately, despite having never experienced before. She trembled, feeling vulnerable now that she knew anyone who was endowed with the dark arts such as she would have the oppurtunity to rip her control away from her as easily as her sister just had.
Harue shook her head, dropping it quickly. Her sister followed suit and did not question, only began to dive into the next portion of the lesson. “Did you feel it?” She asked. Harue was perplexed, afraid to say she did - what if she really hadn’t felt what she was talking about? “Work on it, recreate the feeling, reverse it. It’s.. simple. But complex.”

She was growing to hate that saying her sister kept spewing, but Harue knew now that it wasn’t untrue. When Matsunaga began to animate the shadow herself, choosing a more elegant approach by stretching the tree’s shadow and then stitching it amongst itself, threading branches into beautiful swirls and curves.
Harue saw through it easily, even without her allseeing red eyes. It was plain to her because she was a master of the shadow illusions, so she worked to take control of the shadow the same way she would normally. She assumed the role of its divine, and possessed it from afar momentarily.
Working to recreate the feeling, as Matsunaga put it, Harue strained to unravel the shadows beyond the tree in the distance and take control of them, out from under her sister’s own control. Once she had leveled her approach, she was able to find the weakness in the knot and make it her own. Matsunaga was impressed when the shadows she had knitted fell into a heap.
Insidious Illusion Rank: "C" Skill: Supplementary Effect: User can craft illusions so compelling, startling or emotionally effecting that their effects are difficult even for disbelievers to shake. Special: --- Drawback: --- Description: Once a target succeeds at a Will Save to disbelieve one of the user's illusions, the target must make a second Will Save, at the same difficulty, or be considered Shaken for a number of rounds equal to 1 per 2 points of Charisma. Jutsu Handseal/Chakra Increase: 1/2 Rank. Limit: Must learn from Universal GenJutsu.

Daylight was still plenty so they continued on with their training and discussions over more tea. The theme was continuously GenJutsu, and Matsunaga began to explain that there were plenty of ways to strengthen one’s casted illusions, to the point where they’re near impossible to escape.
One sufficient way of strengthening a GenJutsu caster’s core affects was through the double application of its implications. “Your GenJutsu can become so terrifying that even those who disbelieve them or break free of them will be affected still by the terror that you inflict upon them.”
Harue liked the sound of that. She nodded into her almost gone tea. “I understand,” she said smoothly, her throat warm from the beverage. “Even if they use the GenJutsu Kai effectively against my attempt, they’ll still be messed up about it?” Matsunaga nodded. “Shaken, at the very least.” She went into brief detail about how to effectively fuck an opponent over even if they're equipped to forgo you.
Threatening Illusion Rank: "B" Skill: Supplementary Effect: User has mastered the art of making Illusions that force foes to divide their attention in combat. Special: --- Drawback: --- Description: User can use this Jutsu Enhancement technique only on Figment Jutsus. A threatening illusion Jutsu causes one target to believe the user's illusion is a threat. Choose one 2-meter area within the area of the user's illusion; that area threatens the target as long as it is within 2 meters of it. Thus, if the user or an ally is on the opposite side of the target, it is considered flanking. Normally the area must contain an illusory creature of Small or Medium size. However, select can select 2-meter area of a larger illusory creature to threaten the target. If the target has reason to believe there is an invisible creature in the vicinity, even an auditory illusion with no visual elements (such as ghost sound) is sufficient to convince the target that the selected area contains an actual threat. As long as the user maintains the illusion, the user can change the location of the threatening area as a weaving movement. When the user threatens a target with this Jutsu, the foe may make a Will save to disbelieve. If the target makes this save, the threatening effect of this feat no longer applies to it. Jutsu Handseal/Chakra Increase: 1/2 Rank. Limit: Must learn from Universal GenJutsu. Must know Figment Perception.

”I can go beyond just that, though,” Matsunaga continued on about the enhancements of GenJutsu and how to properly apply them and when they are most effective to apply, and upon which types of illusions certain enhancements could be tethered to solely. Her next lesson went turned out to be on threatening illusion and what something with a name like that entails.
“You can create the illusion that your illusion is of greater threat, so that your opponent may be so blinded by the terror you put into it that the attention they give you specifically outside the illusion becomes uneven. It is a perfect time to utilize something stealthy, or something that might finish them off.
“In all honesty, it’s good for any method you see fit to using it.” She taps her finger against the counter, contemplating over her new steaming cup of tea. Harue was nearly done with her own. Matsunaga continued, going into detail about more ways it is effective and from what angles to approach from.

Harue was intrigued by the idea that her figment illusions could become such a useful tool in distraction and projected/perceived threat, but Matsunaga seemed to list off a few drawbacks that made the whole thing sound rather unappealing and almost not worth the whole ordeal.
The bad seemed to stack against the good of it, but the bad wasn’t harmful to her in any way, so she tallied the information away in the back of her mind to use when the time occurred. She listened while Matsunaga proceeded on with her longwinded lesson, but Harue knew the information she had already was good to store away.
“The area of effect is a rather small one, but it’s comparably bigger to the instances in which you need to make actual, physical contact with your opponent. So it is no more difficult to utilize than any other illusion or illusion enhancement, and with the right caster, it is impervious.” Harue nodded along, mildly fascinated.

”Although its area of effect is rather shallow, it’s useful for those moments where you need to strengthen a perhaps preexisting cast, where it hasn’t properly done its job in the first place. It’s not always to fall back on, obviously, but it’s useful in those slim moments.”
Harue nodded, knowing and anticipating the next part she knew would come; the physical application of the technique. As surely as she knew it would come, Matsunaga turned to her and suggested what she anticipated, and they began to cast upon the field across from the dirt road that separated ramen shop and that side.
It wasn’t simple because Matsunaga was keen to it and was immune to the threats that would normally have been casted from Harue’s secondary installments to the shadow figments she raised, but Harue prevailed nonetheless in order to practice meaningfully.

Despite knowing the process Matsunaga allowed the jutsu to affect her in terms of visualization whereas normally she could have blinked the weak figment away from her cranium. She allowed Harue’s secondary finish which brightened its threat to reach her. She analyzed it but she was not scared, turning to Harue and confessing that it was a bit subpar.
Harue tried again, this time with a bit more finesse and bit more precision in the way that she chiseled out a 2 meter radius which was affected by the threatening aura she tacked onto her figment. This time Matsunaga was rather pleased, turning around completely in her stool to face again her tea, sipping at it leisurely.
Harue turned back too, taking hold of the counter’s edge. ”That’s it? I do that and then it’s like a second chance to scare someone?” Matsunaga gave a small shrug which was a juxtaposition to the shake of her head. “It’s more like a non guaranteed insurance, irrelevant but surprisingly useful.”
