"You know as well as any Kikkawa why we live on a hill, in case of attack the advantage of battling down hill is in our favor."
He would state that as he trudged along behind Gansaku. It was a simple lesson that was imparted to all Kikkawa who listened when the history of the complex was taught. Using Mokuton techniques from the top of the hill was what allowed the first Kikkawa to take victory in their battles. After all, it was much harder for water to travel up hill even with a source of momentum. He was taken aback by his statement. His mind didn't even register what he was talking about.
"Get...whaa? What are you talking about...?"
Confusion was evident in his tone. Perhaps it was the heat, the fact that he was deep in his own thoughts, or maybe he was really just that oblivious. Was he talking about getting to the mansion? Or perhaps he meant the rank of Chuunin he was negotiating with the Kusakage. 'What an unexpected thing to say none the less, completely catches me off guard all the time!' he grumbled in his mind. He held high respect for the boy before him, knowing that his power was greater. Often he would never even notice his presence until the life was scared out of him.
Coming to the steps of the residence he would enter after it was deemed okay. Looking around he would see his three sisters sitting casually around the house, his mother most likely out back gardening. His father, he knew, was down in the meeting room with a few of the older members of the family. Heading directly for the fire place, his hands would move to make the snake seal. upon contact with his other hand, the fire place would slide free of it's grips and reveal a stairwell.
"Coming, Gansaku?"
He would ask that simple question as he moved on down the steps. Into the more dimly lit reaches of the house he would go, news of the unknown awaiting him.
