Name: Survival Exercise Part 1

Description: The ninja or ninjas must navigate through a maze in which on the other side lies a golden scroll. The maze consists of harmless traps, such as sleeping gas and giant rubber balls that will knock them down. If one of the Jounin thinks that the harmless traps would have killed them in the field then they would fail the mission.
Objective: Get to the end of the maze

Reward: 1 C- Rank Scroll and 2000 Ryo
Limit: Need a GM. Can only be done three times per shinobi.

"Alright! Time to get this test over with, my new blade is almost ready and I've been dieing to test it out for the last few days" joked Satoru as he approached the testing center of the stone shin obi.

From what the mission said this was going to be a cake walk compared to the A rank mission that he and his team had went through a few days prior. Of course Karena did most of the work but it still was something to live through it.

Satoru would sniff the air and give a good listen to see if he could find his older teammate Ichida. If Satoru was right the guy was probably the sweetest smelling person in the area with the sound of butterfly's orbiting his body. A very easy track to those with heightened senses.

The boy would be wearing his usual attire being open black vest and cargoes, simple and allowed the boy to move freely. Satoru's headband would still rest over his eyes and a long white sash would drift behind the boy to signify his ninja and kenjutsu status.

"Yo! Ichida you ready for this!? Sorry for the delay took me a while to sharpen my blades after that last mission, rocks are not good on a swords lifespan I think" joked the cheerful genin running up to the older teammate.

"And one more mission till I can qualify for the chunin exams if you can believe that what number you at? You best be in the same exam so you can watch me take home the big win, though there are a few more sword styles I gotta master before that happens" boasted the genin modestly in casual conversation to the silent and serious Ichida.

[Ichida]

{Entrance}

Ichida would walk into the area where the mission was being held, it was some type of survival mission involving traps. At first glace nothing may seem weird about such a mission, but Ichida himself wouldn't have taken it if he wasn't also trying to improve his reputation with his new team, hopefully leading to future high ranked missions or other possibilities. The reason for this would be Ichida's butterflies and Genjutsu, the perfect method of controlling any situation involving living creatures vulnerable to Genjutsu. And that's where the problem lied for Ichida, since the mission clearly involves non-living traps Genjutsu and the butterflies would both be nearly useless unless the mission also involves creatures within the traps mentioned.

"Yo! Ichida you ready for this!? "Yes I am ready and yes, I can imagine the wear that stone would cause to a blade." Ichida would waken his butterflies from their rest in his sleeves and they would begin to pour out into the air around him. Satoru would continue the conversation. "And one more mission till I can qualify for the chunin exams if you can believe that what number you at? You best be in the same exam so you can watch me take home the big win, though there are a few more sword styles I gotta master before that happens"

Ichdia had only heard very little of the Chuunin Exams, having not been raised in a ninja environment like most ninja. He was previously forced to find information regarding such exams in order to know the little amount he did. "This is my second mission within the Village of Stone, though I believe we should focus on this mission before thinking about any other." Ichida would only take a short breath before continuing. "I would suggest that several of my butterflies take the lead, they will be able to spring or notice several types of traps that we may not want to encounter ourselves."

[Satoru]

"Heh, guess your right. But sooner or later we gotta climb that hill" shrugged Satoru at Ichida's response to the chunin exams.


"You got it, just lemme know if you see anything off. I'll let you know if I smell or hear anything fishy. I hear sleeping gas doesn't sit well in the stomach so I'd like to avoid that" agreed satoru trying to catch one of the butterflies that were orbiting the older teammate.

"You know ever since our last mission I got to thinking, do the bugs ALWAYS follow you around? Like twenty-four-Seven asleep and awake or do you just grab a bunch of these butterflies when you need em?" Said the boy enclosing one of the fluttery creatures in his hands. Then with a smirk let the creature go back into the air.

Satoru would then position himself at the entrance of the maze and await for the mission to start. As Satoru also waited for Ichida's answer to his question the boy thought that if he was given the choice between bugs or blades he'd rather choose the steel since being some-kinda insect overlord didn't really sit well with the blind lad.

[Ichida]

Ichida's mission statement would be replied to by Satoru. "You got it, just lemme know if you see anything off. I'll let you know if I smell or hear anything fishy. I hear sleeping gas doesn't sit well in the stomach so I'd like to avoid that"

He would then move to catch one of the butterflies as he asked a question of his own, a motion which Ichida didn't mind. "You know ever since our last mission I got to thinking, do the bugs ALWAYS follow you around? Like twenty-four-Seven asleep and awake or do you just grab a bunch of these butterflies when you need em?" Satoru would catch the butterfly in his hand and it would simply remain still, landing upon the child's hand until he released it. Ichida would answer the question knowing that it would lead to his ability to freely ask a question. "I keep them with me all day, I release them during the night, and I collect them once again each morning."

Ichida would return the question with one of his own. "Now that I have answered your question I will ask you a question. Have you always been blind?" Ichida would wait for the mission's start and an answer from Satoru.

[Kuro]

Foot falls would be heard from behind them. Approached was a man in a white trench coat and blond hair. A yellowish eye would gaze upon them as a black eye patch covered the rest. "Ello chaps," a voice with a british accent would chime in. He was a tall figure, the examiner for their mission. His intentions would be hidden for now though he hoped the best for the young Genin, he loved watching their promise. "Your mission is simple, before you is a maze that is filled with traps. All non-lethal of course," his accent seemed to change as he spoke. Coincidence? "Get through it without 'dying' and you pass," his emphasis on dying should have been clear enough to them. Three hand seals were preformed quickly upon his hands. A wall that was before them would jolt down into the stone. The entrance to the maze was now offered. "Any questions?" he'd offer one last moment for any questions they may hold.

If they were to gaze forward, the maze would be before them now ready to be taken. The pathway into the maze would be a straight line all the way down to a T shaped intersection roughly two hundred meters in. Torches upon the walls would alternate sides every five meters, leaving dancing shadows. Though the time was late afternoon, if they were not fast they'd have to rely on the light of the flames. There was no clear an obvious traps within view, this would test their sense of life. If one can survive traps, they are able to take far more dangerous missions involving higher ranks. This was the test of Stone, would the Genin answer the call?

I appologize about the wait guys. Went drinking friday, was still fairly drunk earlier saturday. Saturday night was really rough on me for other reasons. So here I am now trying to be a better GM. Any questions or concerns let me know here or through PMs.

I'm not gonna enforce IIC on you guys unless you'd like that. ^_^ The important part is to have fun guys.

OCC: How dare you have fun and party! lolz no worries anyway. Quick post sor exam times lol.

"What!? I'm BLIND!! I knew something was wrong when I woke up this morning." joked Satoru at the blind comment from his teammate.

Satoru even made a motion to claw at his eyes behind the cover of his headban and wrappings to further push the joke. A smile would then spread across the face as the genin would speak again.

"Just kidding ya, whole families blind, all our lives and the kicker is we run very successful trading caravans ahaha" finished the blind Satoru as the Jounín who was going to over see the mission approached.

Satoru would listen intently to the overview of what was excepted in this maze. So it was basically get to the end of the maze while watching out for the non-lethal traps...easy.

"Nope no questions here, kinda straight forward I think" shrugged the genin wondering what kind of ethnicity was this jounin if his accent was changing like the weather.

"Allright in we go!" said the lad pointing into the maze like this whole test was just one fun little event.

Satoru would let the butterflies take the lead towards the T intersection letting them sprung any traps that would be so sensitive that a small insect could spring. Satoru highly doubted there would be anything like that in here.

“Huh, left or right? I suggest the right way….no pun intended” quickly added Satoru in an attempt to not appear like a childish fool towards the older ninja.

[Ichida]

Satoru would crack a joke to Ichida's question; and while Ichida did have a sense of humor, the raw misrepresentation fell far outside it's boundaries. "Just kidding ya, whole families blind, all our lives and the kicker is we run very successful trading caravans ahaha" Ichida would give a small smile and a slight 'hm' as though he'd thought the joke was humorous, since lack of response to a joke was disrespectful in a direct sense. "Ello chaps," Ichida's gaze would turn upon the man, who would make his entrance brief. "Your mission is simple, before you is a maze that is filled with traps. All non-lethal of course, Get through it without 'dying' and you pass, any questions?" His voice would seem strange, fluctuating between what it wanted to be. Ichida would put this oddity aside and mirror his partner's statement. "Unless there is anything else you can tell us about the mission itself then no."

"Alright in we go!" Satoru would be quick to move yet Ichida would attempt to slow things down, never one to rush through anything foolishly. "Attempting to stumble upon our objective is foolish, we should find it before making our move. If there's anything you can do without moving forward then now would be the time to do it." With no ceiling above, Ichida would use the opportunity to view the mission from the sky. With a short set of handsigns, one butterfly would lift another up above the maze and Ichdia would look through the technique with his right eye. The view would be from the top down, with the first butterfly lifting the one being viewed through.

Ichida would look for the golden scroll and attempt to find a path from the scroll to their current location. Though half of Ichida's mind believed that the butterflies would be killed in this attempt; it still had to be attempted before running blindly down the maze full of traps.

Special: Bird Seal
Drawback: No control over the eye you cover while this jutsu is active.
Description: The user will hold their hands in the bird seal as they close one of their eyes. Then taking one of their hands and covering the closed eye they then focus there chakra to one of their butterflies. The butterfly will land in a set position and spread it’s wings open. In the eye like design on the wings the user will be able to see from it. This works well while using the Shiruku Engai, or spying from a safe distance.

With little more to be said the Jounin would preform a few hand seals and create a single metallic disk out of sand that would come from the very clothing he wore. Stepping on the disk it would levitate high up into the sky as he would take his position to watch the lab mice try to find the cheese. He'd be in control of all actions within the maze, he would make sure to watch his Genin carefully as they proceeded.

The butterfly technique chosen by Ichida would allow him to view a rather vast maze, should he find away to memorize the path within his view, he'd be more than welcomed. At the far side from them would be a large S rank scroll gold in color it glowed upon a pedistal. If he did follow the Blind boy down the path to the T intersection they would be unharmed by traps, for it would be a little mean to try and kill them right off the bat. Where was the fun in that? Looking to the right, there'd be twenty meters to the next wall only allowing them to turn left from there to an unknown path. If they looked left from that T intersection they'd have ten meters before a right was the only path they could take. So which direction would they head?

[Satoru]

OCC: Done exams sor for inactivity, spent week in solitude with my text books lol.

"Not feeling or hearing anything out of the ordinary here, this place is huge on the monolithic scale" shrugged Satoru looking back to Ichida who was following behind.

"We could split up? You go left I go right if you find the right path send a butterfly if I find it I'll keep one of your little fluttery friends as a messenger. I could also track your sent to find you, well to be honest I am not that well trained in it but you smell like a walking flower shop pal." suggested Satoru peering around the right path at the T intersection.

Well the boy didn't really see what was around the corner only let his sonar like hearing to give him some information as to where that path was leading.

"But if your butterflies found the thing then I guess my plan should be tossed for one that involves following your little minions around this maze." finished Satoru taking a few cautious steps along the path as if stepping on the cement floor to hard would cause to trap to spring on the blind genin.

[Ichida]

(OOC: No problem, I know that a lot of people are going through their finals right now or will real soon.)

Contrary to Ichida's belief, the simple action had worked; he could see the entire maze from an aerial view and could even see what looked like the mission's target. Ichida would find the path between himself and the goal, looking at it from the sky, and send his butterflies skyward. He would send one butterfly for each turn that needed to be made, placing them at the beginning of each hallway where it would be possible to travel in more than a single direction. He wasn't quite sure how many butterflies this would require, but knew that they served better in this way than simply doing nothing.

Once the butterflies would all begin to take their places Ichida would cancel his Ninjutsu, calling back the two butterflies used, and walk towards his teammate who was at the end of the path. "But if your butterflies found the thing then I guess my plan should be tossed for one that involves following your little minions around this maze." Ichida would reach the end of the path, having heard all of his teammates 'flowery' comments.

Ichida would turn in the direction that the first butterfly had placed itself in, either down the left or right corridor. "My butterflies have been placed at every turn between here, as this one has; we should be able to follow them straight to our goal as long as we avoid any traps." Ichida would send twenty of his remaining flutter of butterfly down the correct path first, using them to spring or see any traps before they spring. Ichida would follow Satoru if he'd follow the butterflies, as his senses of non-sight exceeded Ichida's.

"Just so you know," Ichida would respond to his partner's earlier statement. "I'm more than happy to smell of flowers than reek of dirt and sweat." The subtle hint at his teammate's scent would weave it's way into Ichida's tone and words. A small grin would place itself across Ichida's face as he would follow Satoru.

[Kuro]

Hovering above them in the sky upon his metallic disc of sand, he'd keep a clear cute view of everything going on. He'd chuckle a bit at the obvious foolishness in the Genin. Getting around the maze would be the easiest part of this mission. It was surviving the traps that was the real trick to this entire mission. Though as the butterflies would make their markings, would the Jounin allow it? Of course, why not? They weren't against any rules, though his eye would watch as he attempted to set off traps in front of them. Air wasn't the place the traps would be triggered from. Not here so far at least.

Walking in the designated path it was the blind boy that took the lead, would his hearing really be of any use, as a few of the cobblestones beneath their feet would be broken from previous missions, or was that planned? For there was a trap only a few feet in front of him, one of the many "broken cobble stones" would be a press trap. Should it be stepped on, it would trigger a nearby 'attack' from a trap. Of course, triggering it doesn't mean they'd automatically get hit. There was always a chance of escaping the set trap. Though should the blind boy avoid it, would the pretty boy be so lucky? Were they even expecting such a trap?

Ok, so here you guys go. I will no longer direct your path through this maze. The butterflies will be your guide. I also will not be posting every round. I will post when I see fit, only if a trap is to be set off or avoided.

I will be posting next round but after that my posting will be unpredicted. I'd say three to four more rounds before you reach your targeted location, saying the traps don't slow you down. Goodluck, any questions, PM me.
