Housenka no Jutsu - Mythical Fire Phoenix Technique

Description: The user performs a few quick handseals as they quickly take the same concept as that of the Goukakyuu no Jutsu. The user then spits out or hurls out up to five small sized fireballs towards the enemy. Each fireball creates massive amounts of burns but does not burst forth in an explosion. As each fireball makes contact with something, they spread out the fire creating a more of an area effect within the fire. The user is capable of using this technique in conjunction with multiple secondary weapons such as kunai or shuriken. The opponent is incapable of noticing the projectiles until the fire is extinguished in mid air. This technique is used typically to hide or to be used as a diversion for more of a powerful technique. As a D ranked ninja, the user is able of shooting 5 balls of fire. After the user goes up a difficulty class, they are capable of shooting 5 more fireballs.

Tekato stood atop a tree branch holding the trunk with one hand for stability. He was wearing his tan sleeveless tunic, and black pants. He wore his katana on his back as he normally does when he trains or is on a mission. His black hair was blowing just a little above his violet eyes in the cool breeze. He faced a large grassy clearing. There were scattered sections of dead grass where some ninja must have been training vigorously and killed some of the grass in the process. He was interested in none of this however, what he was interested in was the sun which was just about to peek its face over the horizon. He was one to appreciate the beauty of nature, but more than anything he loved a good sunrise. He was an avid believer that the rising sun would always out glow a setting one. This may have reflected his love of the birth and new beginning while he hated, or maybe feared, of the inevitable bitter end. His mind dwelt little on these matters since all that mattered at the moment was enjoying the sunrise. The clouds were close together and reflected off purple and orange hues that made it look like the canvas of an infinitely beautiful masterpiece. A grin spread across his face as the colors reached their peak.

After taking in the sight for a few more moments he jumped off the tree on to the grass. It was time to train. His father had shown him how to perform “Housenka no Jutsu - Mythical Fire Phoenix Technique” so he knew the basics but was still far from mastering the technique and knew enough to do so on his own. First he was going to master shooting the balls of flame before attempting to use it in conjunction with his shuriken. He picked out a medium sized boulder in the clearing and placed himself about 40 feet from the boulder. He would use this as his target. He performed the required handseals quickly and made a circle with his fingers and put it to his mouth. He focused on molding chakra in his lungs and changing its nature to fire as it left his mouth. He then blew out with all his force and used his finger to mold the oncoming chakra into individual fire balls rather than a steady stream of fire. What happened was 5 fireball shot from his mouth but were smaller than they should have been and extinguished before he meant them to, disappearing about half way to the rock. He tried again this time he focused more on the amount of chakra and how efficiently he changed its nature and worried less about the force he used to expel it from his lungs. This time he found that the firballs he created went a quarter the distance he wanted and they were twice the size that he meant them to be. This was also a big step for him, this would be the most advanced ninjutsu technique he would learn so far so he knew it would take him some time.

After taking a deep breath and gathering his thoughts he decided to experiment with the amount of chakra he used and the way he changed its nature. Afters shooting out fireballs that were either too big and dissipated in the air too quickly or too small and even though they hit the target they did not have the desired power he was beginning to refine the technique. He was beginning to create fire that was about the right size and went the right distance. He was beginning to get down the intricacies of the chakra control needed to perform the technique. He identified another problem however. Even though he was controlling their size and distance with accuracy and precision, where the fire went was fairly chaotic. He had not yet developed accuracy and precision in his shot.
He decided the best way to work on this problem was to simply practice. He took his pen from his pocket and removed some of the ink from inside it and opened it up. He walked over to rock and used the ink to paint a target on the rock. He put his pen back together and went back into position. He put his hand over his mouth and began to inhale. He was going to shoot fireballs until he could get them all to consistently hit the rock even if they weren’t the desired spots on the rock. He was going to work on precision first. He did this for a few minutes and then found a spot where he was consistently hitting the rock. He remembered this position and continued to perform the technique in the same exact position, working on how consistently he could get shots off and hit the same spot over and over again. He began to get a feel for where the fire would shoot based on his face’s position. To test if he could get back into the position he was in before and still hit the same spot was the next level of precision he desired. To put this into practice would perform the technique he would do a few pushups then get back on his feet and try to hit the same spot over again until he could consistently hit.
It was harder than he thought and he was beginning to get pretty tired from all the chakra he was using. He really wanted to take a break but was at the same time determined to get at least the precise part of the technique down, he could break after. He continued this drill for about 5 minutes until he was finally beginning to get it down. After his final technique (all of the fire balls went where they were supposed to) he let himself fall to the grass. He was breathing heavily, but smiling. He was glad he was getting the technique down, he had seen his brother train this technique and it looked like Akira had taken longer than Tekato to learn it which made him feel good since he normally felt like he was lagging behind his older brother.

After resting and regaining his chakra Tekato was ready to begin training again and stood up. He looked at the rock which was beginning to be quite blackened from the numerous fireballs that hit it and reflected on what he had learned before his rest. He had gotten down precision training, it was now time for accuracy. He pondered for a moment what the most effective training method was for working this part of the technique. He took out his pen and began painting small two-ringed targets in random places all over the rock including the top of it. What he planned to do was use the technique to hit one target at a time, but switch targets everytime he did it through a side roll so he would have to get back into position entirely forcing him to learn consistency in how he used the technique. This stopped him from making otherwise extremely minor and un-recollectable changes to the position of his hand to make it more accurate. He needed it to be accurate the first time, there could be no testing the waters. He began the training process which he invented. The first shots missed by inches, and as soon as he hit the rock and saw where they landed he rolled and took aim at another target on a different part of the rock. As quickly as he could he performed the necessary handseals and fired again. This one was yet another inch off farther than the last one. He repeated the process. Slowly but surely he was beginning to gain consistency in his accuracy and was at least hitting the black part of the two-ringed targets. He eventually was able to get this down but he knew it was nowhere near mastery.

The next step was learning to make each individual fireball hit a different target. This could be applied practically if he wanted to hit multiple enemies, or make them difficult to avoid when facing a moving target. This was a multi-step process, he decided to go from small to big. First he was going to fire shots at 5 different targets on the rock, until he could do so accurately. Then he was going to gather branches from trees and make a training field of dummies that he would have to take out 5 at a time, since at the moment 5 seemed to be the maximum amount of shots he could fire off. He took a minute to gather his strength and then got into position. He faced the rock where 5 or so singed targets were visible and began firing shots through his hand which made a circle over his mouth. He found that by aiming by head movement the angle was too great and lead to decreased accuracy. With a little experimentation he found making slight adjustments with his hand was sufficient to hit individual targets that were relatively close together. He quickly got this part of the technique down and ran into the woods to gather branches. He came back with bunches of about 15 each time he returned. He continued to gather branches until he had 60 branches of various sizes from the woods. He separated them into two equal piles. He took branches from one pile and split the ends of each branch with his sword so that wood was split about 1/3 of the way down the branch. He then proceeded to take the other 30 branches and place them in the splits of the cut branches so that they formed 30 cross shaped statues. He lodged each of them in various placed in the grassy field so that they were scattered throughout the entire field. This was the test to attack multiple enemies that were greater distances apart.

He was feeling warn from the last part of his training and was feeling the effects of constant use of his chakra being fairly winded at this point. He wasn’t going to give up though, he wanted to get this part of his training done before resting and moving onto the last 2 crucibles of his training that he had in mind. He stood in the center of the mass of crossed targets and took a stance to begin firing off the Mythical Fire Phoenix technique. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply to control his breathing and to become calmer and more focused on the task at hand. As soon as his breathing was no longer so apparent he opened his eyes and performed the hand seals and fired at 5 different targets each roughly three meters apart. 2 of his shots missed completely and 1 was off center but still hit. This method required a combination of aiming his entire head as well as making fine-tuned adjustments with his hand to be accurate with his shots when he desired to hit targets farther apart from before. He was quick to adapt and got it down quickly and efficiently. After drilling himself further to make sure he stayed consistent he decided to test himself by firing at targets that would require him to turn his head 180 degrees from left to right. He hit all 5 targets he intended. He was now breathing at an excessive rate and let himself collapse to the ground to rest his lungs and regain his chakra.

Tekato was able to use the technique from a stand still position but what about a situation where he was jumping in the air or diving somewhere, he needed be able to execute the technique at any time and in any situation for it to be a viable and practical combat weapon. After resting and getting some food he came back to the grassy field which still had the 30 crossed branches stuck in the ground; most of them were blackened or singed at this point. He wanted to use the technique in a more versatile way so he decided to try to use the technique while jumping and diving. This would prove useful later in combat where he would be able to perform the jutsu during a dodge as a counter attack. He decided to go back to the rock which still had a bunch of 2 ringed crosses painted on it. He was now going to attempt to do long distance dive rolls where in mid air he would fire off shots and hit targets accurately while in mid air. Then after that he would perform jumps in various directions so no matter which way he was moving he could perform the jutsu accurately.

He started off at a crouching position with one hand on the ground and his eyes closed. Once he felt focused on what he was doing he opened his eyes and leaped to his right. In mid air he performed the hand seals quickly and fired off the 5 fireballs at the rock. As he approached the ground he tucked his body into a roll and transferred the momentum of the roll to a jump in which he jumped up in the same direction and performed the jutsu again, hitting the rock again. He was more accurate while jumping than diving so he decided to work on the diving more. After landing all of his hits on the targets he purposely hit he dove once more perpendicular to the rock. One thing at a time, perform jutsu, transfer momentum smoothly to ground to readied stance. This time he only missed one target. Again! He thought. He did the same thing again, except in the opposite direction perpendicular to the rock. This time all of his shots were on target. To check his consistency he decided to perform at least 5 more dives/jumps succession to the other with no rest in between. He did a dive to a jump to a dive to another dive, to a jump over the rock, to a dive toward the rock, and then finally a jump away from the rock. 5 shots were performed per action. He missed about 3 total shots. Considering it was toward the end of the day and he was tired from previous training. He knew that as long as he could be 95% accurate at his worst then it was good enough to use practically in battle. He was breathing heavily, he noticed the outside part of his hand that he used to form the shots with was singed from the amount of times he had used the jutsu. He was going to let his hand heal for a little while then begin the final part of his training. He walked over to the blackened rock and sat beside it leaning his back up against it. He put his hands behind his head and let his head rest against them while he looked up at the sky and began watching the clouds while he rested. He felt good, this was a good training session. He thought about how his father would be proud when he would go back to his house and show him the technique and how well he had mastered it.

Tekato began to doze off but just as he did he saw that the sun was beginning to set and realized the day was almost over. He was determined to get this technique down before the end of the day because his brother had done it in two days, and he wanted to beat him. He got up and reached into his pouch for 5 shuriken. The last part of the technique was to use the fireballs in conjunction with his secondary weapons. To do this he planned on putting all 5 shuriken in the hand that he used to form the fireballs with. To pull it off without the enemy noticing he would use his chakra from he shots to transfer to the shuriken to make it shoot out of his and almost like a spinning bullet so he did not need to show any movement of throwing the shuriken. This would cause the fireballs to dissipate sooner, but it could be very useful as a strategic attack since he could use the fireballs as decoys when he actually wanted the shuriken to hit his target.

He stood about 50 feet from a nearby tree and made the hand seals for the jutsu. He put his hand with the shurikens to his mouth and blew outwards engulfing a shuriken in each shot while it flew forward at a tree. On this attempt he was only able to get 4 shurikens in the air, the last one he slipped on forming his chakra around it. He tried it again, this time getting all 5 of them off but only 3 hit the tree. He took a deep breath and concentrated on forming the chakra around th shuriken, as well as aiming where the shuriken went. He shot them off, the fire dissipated mid flight and all of the shuriken hit the tree. It was coming natural since he had worked with the technique all day.

Next he integrated precision and accuracy into his shots. He painted targets on the tree, then practiced hitting the targets the way he wanted to. After that he focused on targets a greater distance apart. He painted 1 target for each tree until there were 5 trees with targets on them. He practiced firing the flaming shuriken at trees a greater distance apart. It took him a very short amount of time to get this down. He then proceeded to the acrobatic shots. He found a tree stump and painted targets on it. He began jumping and diving all over the place within the vicinity of the tree stump until he was hitting his targets with exceptional accuracy. When he saw consistency in his accuracy he felt it was time to stop. He was almost completely exhausted his breathing was heavy and his hand was singed from the fire he was dealing with. He smiled though, because he knew he got it down very well, and he felt that he could probably use it in battle, and it was probably time to show it off to his father and brother and tell them how quickly he learned it.

Tsurutsuru Kobushi: Sotsuji Shindou (Sudden Impact)

Drawback: None
Description: A technique developed to push away an opponent rather than harm them. An inexperienced user of this stance and technique will need to slide on a surface in order to gain the proper momentum. This is an open palmed strike that is aimed towards a target’s torso. The user swings his/her palm from below the targets waist or lower half. If it connects, the strike will usually send the target flying backwards. Of course, weight and other factors will need to be considered.

Tekato had not learned any specific techniques in taijutsu yet so he felt it was about time to learn something. He was shown this technique by his teacher in the academy but he never took the time to master it. It was a strategic and defensive move that he might find useful when he is trying to avoid a fight or distract the target without harming him. It required finesse as well as strength to do so effectively. It was an open palm attack to the torso that would do little damage but blow his opponent away a great distance depending on their weight.

He decided to set up about five dummies in the field he was training in. He was going to attack them one at a time first experimenting with form and finesse, then on strength, then the combination of the two, and perhaps if he felt it necessary he would try to use the technique in quick succession.

He set the dummies up and stood in front of one of them. He took a deep breath and he open palm struck the dummy in the torso. The dummy got hit back a few feet and fell over. It was not as effective as it should have been. He needed to put more force as well as hit the dummy with his palm so that as much of the palm’s surface area would hit the dummy at once so that the force would disperse more evenly against the object forcing more kinetic energy over large area, which means the target would fly back farther.

He set the dummy back up and took a stance with his hand at his hip forming the shape of an open palm. He bent his knees to 120 degree angles and focused in at his target. He imagined his palm being thrust at the target so perfectly that the entire surface area of his hand would hit at once, and the dummy would fly very far backwards.

He struck again at the dummy and it flew backward much farther than the last attempt. He continued to strike each dummy that he set up until all of them were on the ground. After this he decided to set them all up again to continue practicing.

He was beginning to get down the exact technique but needed to do it in a pinch which meant speed. He decided to use the technique on each dummy one more time to grasp the technique more thoroughly. He struck each dummy and they were launched a little farther than his last attempt. This time when he set up the dummies he set the up so that they were in a circle and he was in the middle. Each dummy was within reach of his fist. What he planned to do was use the technique and strike each dummy as fast as he could. This would train his ability to use the technique in a situation where he does not necessarily have the time to think about how exactly he is going to thrust his palm forward, he just has to do it without hesitation.

He thrust his palm forward at the first dummy, it went flying. He immediately drew back his palm into the same position and pivoted toward the next dummy and open palm thrusted that dummy. It was hit slightly off target and spun around in a circle instead of being launched. The next dummy was hit on target, but with less force than he wanted. It went only half as far as the first one. The next dummy he hit and went flying like the first. Then the one after was like the one that did not have enough force. He knew he had the potential to use it in combat but it was not nearly consistent enough. He decided to continue this exercise until he could consecutively hit each dummy and make the dummy fly backwards consistently every time.

He continued to hit the dummies, then set them back up until he finally was able to get the consistency he wanted. He wanted to take it one more level though before he was going to call it a day. An opponent standing in front of him would not simply let Tekato strike him in the torso without dodging. He needed to combine this technique with speed. He thought about what the best way was to go about developing speed in his movements prior to using the ability, then making sure he used the technique correctly. He concluded that he was set up the dummies in a zig-zag type of line. Each dummy would be about 3 feet from eachother at 45 degree angles, and facing opposite perpendicular to the imaginary line that ran between them (basically so that they all faced inward). He was going to use his agility to quickly get behind each dummy, strike the dummy in the back, then move onto the next as quickly as he could. The rules were he had to get behind the dummy, it had to be quick, and he had to use the technique just as swiftly while still maintaining efficiency.

Tekato stood facing the first dummy and took a bowing position as if to duel the dummy. When he was upright he immediately got behind the dummy as fast as he could then attacked it with his technique. The dummy went flying like he wanted. He leaped to the other dummy and got behind it, then hit it with his palm. It didn’t go as far as planned but he took no mind to it other than a mental note and moved onto the next, then the next, until the last dummy was on the ground. Because of his prior training this was not as big of a leap as he thought because he did get 4 out of the 5 dummies perfectly, however the second dummy did unveil a weak spot in the technique so he knew it was worth more practice. Tekato set the dummies back up and repeated the drill. It took about 5 or so more rounds for him to get it down perfectly. At the end of it all he was panting and leaning on his knees. His arm was sore and exhausted from using the technique so much. He fell over and laid on the ground, this meant he felt he was probably just about done. He would probably attempt it a few more times to make sure, but he was going to rest first.

Special: Bird and dragon.
Drawback: Have to know how to use a real compass, or else, the jutsu will be useless.
Description: By using the magnetic forces in the earth, a shinobi can use it to their advantage if they are lost. They lay a kunai on the ground, and channel a little chakra in it. The blade will then point towards the north, while the handle will point to south. This jutsu can be extremely useful when lost or if you don’t have a compass to use.
Limit: Has to know lightning release.

Tekato was sitting cross-legged in his room at his apartment he was situated to after his family’s death. On his left he had a regular looking kunai and in front of him was a compass. Tekato decided to learn the kunai compass technique. He had seen his brother use it once when they were lost in the woods. He didn’t exactly know how to use the technique or how to go about learning it but he was going to figure it out. On his right were some science books about magnets and the magnetic field the earth has. He was going to start off by reading the sections on magnets.

He read that not all metals are magnetic, mainly lodestones were naturally magnetic. Lodestone was a naturally magnetized iron. Obviously a compass was not made from lodestone, so he had to figure out a way to magnetize the iron alloy that his kunai was made from, since it was not pure iron it was too light to be made from that it was probably an alloy. So that it could have a balance of weight and strength. The parts that were iron however could most likely be magnetized if he channeled the correct amount of electrical energy through the kunai since the book said that magnets could also be manually magnetized temporarily by running electricity through them, something called an electro-magnet. What he needed to do was first learn to let his chakra flow from his cells to the surface of his finger, then change the nature of the chakra to the lightning element. From there he would use chakra manipulation to control the amps at which the electric energy transferred to the kunai. He would need to be sure he generated enough volts of energy before he touched the kunai otherwise it would drain too quickly and not give the kunai enough time to position properly to where north was.

It was time to move from theory to practice. Tekato closed the books and places the kunai and the compass in front of him. He had positioned himself so that north would be right in front of him so the compass’s needle already faced the same way he was. He did this on purpose to discern easier that the kunai would face the right way in front of him. All he would have to do is make sure it was pointing the same way he was. Tekato began focusing a small amount of chakra at the end of his finger tip, he then changed the nature of the chakra using Raiton no Jutsu to change it into the desired element. He began manipulating his chakra so that it would be released and conducted through the metal of the kunai at a moderate amperage. He specifically made sure he channeled more energy toward the tip of the kunai so that it would be more negatively charged than the rest of the kunai. The North pole emitted a positive magnet pull so if the tip of the kunai was negative it would be attracted to the positive pull.

Tekato touched the upper body of the kunai with his charged fingertip. The kunai immediately spun around in circles almost like a bottle in the game spin the bottle. Friction slowed it down and it came to a complete stop face to Tekato’s left, the wrong way. He definitely had enough chakra charged up in his finger, it was his control, he released too much at once and he ran out before the kunai could come to a stop making it lose its magnetic attributes thus stopping where ever friction willed it.

He tried again, he used the same amount of chakra but focused intently on the rate at which the electricity was conducted into the kunai. He once again charged his finger tip with the electricity and touched the kunai again at its center of gravity. The kunai began inching its way toward north but it was going to slow, he didn’t let the chakra out quickly enough friction didn’t allow it to move all the way to its north facing position. He tried once more and tried to find the balance between his two mistakes to get the technique down. After a few more tried he eventually got the kunai to face north. Of course with all techniques he had to drill it down to perfection. He continued using the technique, rotating the kunai to another direction, then performing the jutsu again until he felt that he could consistently do it. He smiled, he got this one down fairly fast. He felt accomplished as he thought about his brother, then the smile on his face turned to a serious expression, almost angry. He was going to avenge his brother, his whole family.

Description: The user forms the hand seal, focusing chakra through any number of thrown shuriken. These shuriken will revert their paths, flying back to the original point from which they were thrown, following their original flight paths to an exact reverse.
Limit: Universal Ninjutsu.

Tekato stood amidst the field in Konoha that he almost trained at. It was a still but dreary day. There was a dark overcast that could have been storm clouds. He wanted to get this technique done so he might perhaps be able to get back to his house before it started to rain. He took out a shuriken from his butt bag.

Shuriken Souki it was called, Ninja Art: Shuriken recall. He stared at the metallic shape he knew so well throughout his childhood training years. He picked out a tree in the distance and lifted his arm up and pointed at it with the shuriken. He picked out a specific spot on the tree and he rotated his elbow 90 degrees and he cocked back his wrist a further 45 degrees. He sprung his forearm back to its original angle and at the same time resisted the centrifugal force by flicking his wrist forward as well to put more speed and spin on the shuriken as it left his hand sailing toward the tree in a straight line, gouging the exact spot he intended it to. He knew many different ways to throw a shuriken, diagonally, vertically, horizontally, and even in mid-air upside down. His challenge today was not to perfect any particular way of throwing a shuriken but he had to learn to put an initial deposit of chakra in each of the shuriken he threw so that once the shuriken were in mid-flight that deposit of chakra could be activated with the jutsu he was learning causing the kinetic vector to reverse and the potential energy replenish. Essentially he would be able to throw a shuriken, activate the jutsu, and cause it to come flying back the same exact path is flew. This could be exceptionally useful as an initial attack for an opponent to easily dodge then not expect the shuriken to come flying at them from behind. Of course he would have to keep in mind that the flight of the shuriken will go directly back to its origin, him, so if the opponent dodged the second attack Tekato would have to be sure he got out of the way or used some method of catching the shuriken, but since he had no such method he would just get out of the way. Perhaps it would be good to move over a few feet initially which will ensure they do not hit him on the way back.

He grabbed another shuriken from his bag and walked to a nearby tree and put his back to it. He faced a tree roughly 30 meters away from him. He placed a trace amount of chakra within the shuriken and threw his right arm horizontally across his abdomen and rotated his hand toward his back, then whipped his arm and wrist back to the outside of his body, launching the shuriken at intense speeds to the tree. The immense force and strain he placed on his arm to accomplish this speed caused him to take an extra half second to regain control of the momentum of his arm. Two and a half seconds later he finished forming the hand seals required for the technique. He concentrated his mind on the chakra within the shuriken.

*thunk* Too late, the shuriken was already in the trunk of the tree, he didn’t activate it in time. With his focus still on the tree he reached with his right hand into his weapon bag, grabbing another shuriken. He used the same method of throwing as before, except put less force into his throw so he would have more time to concentrate on causing the shuriken to revert its path. The shuriken flew after a second and he took only a half second to recover his arm’s movement to begin handseals. 2 and a half seconds later he finished, the shuriken was still in mid flight, but he would have to activate it with no hesitation to make it work. He activated his chakra.

*tink* The shuriken’s path was disrupted and it stopped in mid-air making it fall to the ground as if it were struck in midair by a shuriken flying in the opposite direction. Suddenly Tekato thought of something his father told him. “Chakra is the life force of all living things, it exists in all, it is good and evil, and all in-between, where ever you look, it is there.” This made him realize he did not need to put any chakra into the shuriken initially at all, the trace amounts of chakra within the metal could be used to revert the shuriken’s direction. Just my touching it he would place trace amounts of chakra on the shuriken, he would use this to activate and reverse the shuriken’s direction. He threw the shuriken once more. He figured out it take him about 2 and a half to 3 seconds to complete the jutsu after the shuriken was thrown. At a range of 30 meters he would have to make it perfect, and he would definitely have to throw it at a below-average to average speed for there to be enough time to activate it.

He threw the shuriken once more at 10 meters per second and began making the appropriate handseals. He focused on the shuriken and activated the chakra within it to revert its direction. He smirked as he saw the shuriken silently revert its direction directly back at him. He smoothly bent his left leg and extended his right leg out straight forming a 75 degree angle between his legs and let his left hand touch the ground for balance. The shuriken flew a few inches above his head.

*thunk* That was a good sound for once. After he performed the technique a few more times, and he heard a few more positive *thunk* noises he decided it was time to use the technique on multiple shuriken. He pulled out 10 shuriken, five in each hand and placed each one between two fingers and let the last to pinch between his clenched palms. He faced away from a tree, but toward the wide open field where he imagined the dark cloaked figure that killed his family. His faced turned emotionless as he bent his legs and let his torso hang over them slightly. His head tilted down to the ground ever so slightly, his unruly hair hung over his eyes causing a shadow to hide them. He crossed his arms over is stomach and let his wrists curl around his waist. He whipped the shuriken so that all ten of them were in a direct path toward his imaginary enemy. He recovered the momentum and began executing the proper handseals. Right as he imagined the man ducking he activated the jutsu, all 10 of the shuriken came flying back at the man who was laughing at Tekato’s attempt to hit him. In Tekato’s mind the man was face down on the ground with 10 shuriken in his back and Tekato was looking down at his pitiful body, while in reality Tekato was standing next to the tree with 16 shuriken in its trunk.

Tekato was sitting in the grassy training field he always practiced his techniques at. He was looking at a scroll that was describing how to practice and perform the lightning ball technique. It said it required shape manipulation to make it into the shape a sphere then nature manipulation to cause the sphere to electrify. It told him that to train the shape of the chakra into a sphere one could take a rubber ball and focus on releasing chakra into the ball, then shaping it into a sphere. If done so correctly the rubber ball will hit the ground and bounce extremely high in the air because the chakra within it will release when it hits the ground. If the shape has not been made then the chakra within will be inconsistent and either bounces as a regular rubber ball, shoot off in a seemingly random direction, or perhaps not bounce at all. It also said the ball should reach at least 20 feet in the air.

After this training was done, the final test was to put out one’s hand and perform the same shape manipulation to create a faintly blue glowing globe of chakra in one’s hand. This blue globe if it were to touch anything would immediately dissipate but if it were to be changed to lightning nature, it could do some damage. Since the sphere shape is not hard to maintain it would not be difficult to simply perform the lightning release skill on the sphere of chakra, thereby changing it into lightning.

Tekato stood up and put down his scroll and grabbed the rubber ball he had prepared from his pocket. He held his arm out with his palm face up support the rubber ball on top of it. Tekato began focusing. Chakra began flowing throughout his body toward his right arm, then to his hand, and then released out the center of his palm into the rubber ball. He began manipulating the shape of the chakra into a sphere. After a couple of minutes he felt he probably did it right and let the ball drop of the ground. The ball bounced up at an average height. He then remembered he needed to get 20 feet and to measure that he picked up the ball and walked over to a tree. Took a kunai out and began walking up the tree horizontally using his tree climbing skill. He estimated 20 feet and slashed his kunai through the bark to mark the height he needed to reach.

He got down from the tree and got into position, ball in hand. He released more chakra into the ball this point. As he began shaping it he could visually see and feel the ball moving and the pressure inside becoming more intense as the ball expanded slightly in reaction to compensate for it. He noticed the ball was warped and lopsided, this meant the chakra was not perfectly spherical yet. He continued to focus on the chakra within the ball, finally he ball was not lopsided anymore so he let the ball fall off his hand and bounce into the air way past the 20 feet mark. I smiled because it was time to finally move on from that tedious step.

He extended his arm with his wrist and palm facing upward. He released chakra from his palm and began to form it into a sphere. He could see a slightly blue glowing aura begin to form a circle until it was fairly bright and easily noticed. It was like a glowing blue globe the size of the head of a morning star. Now it was time to apply lightning release to the chakra. He concentrated on the nature of the chakra for about a minute. As the minute went by the blue glowing orb began to spark, and change from a moderately dark blue to a much brighter blue, almost teal colored. Another 30 seconds went by and the orb was surging with streams of lightning linking together. He couldn’t control all of the little shocks the ball emitted so some of the more minor ones he could feel were tingling his hand. To see if it was effective he smashed the ball of electricity into his stomach. He gritted his teeth as he felt a sharp jolt of pain electrocute his stomach and the surrounding area. He felt it was best to try this one on himself so he could understand exactly how effective it would be against an opponent, to know what they would feel if they were hit by it. Tekato felt jolts throughout his entire body. He suddenly had no control over his movements and his body seized and fell over to the ground unable to move. After about 6 seconds the paralysis was quickly going away and he could get himself to stand. Surprisingly the technique was not exceptionally painful, but it definitely had a useful effect for battle. He thought about some of the ways to use it which included as follow up attack which could be used to temporarily disable an enemy, just long enough for him to get another attack in that could potentially end the fight. 6 seconds of paralysis could be deadly in a battle for anyone. He also knew that once he formed the technique he would not be able to move, otherwise the jutsu could backfire and Tekato could become paralyzed himself.

He realized he still had a long way to go before mastering the technique, it took him about a minute and a half to create the ball, he needed to get that down to… less than a second. Tekato performed the handseals and reached his hand out, the blue globe formed much quicker this time, in a couple of seconds, then it began glowing and then surging. Not fast enough. He threw the ball of lightning at a tree. It let out a high pitched squeal as the lightning dissipated into the air. He performed the seals, about 2 and a half seconds go by. His thrust his hand out and began releasing chakra out of it to form the ball and almost instantaneously the ball ignited. He cocked back his arm and threw the globe into the same tree, a burst of sound screeched as it hit. It was still too slow, the only time that should be taken up is the time it takes him to perform the handseals, then the time it takes to throw the ball. He began performing the handseals again. He was beginning to become short of breath because of the constant use of chakra. He performed the technique a few times more, each time becoming more familiar with the jutsu, his muscle memory becoming more reliable, and in turn shortening the time it took to perform the jutsu. Finally he attempted the jutsu once more. Almost instantaneously the ball was formed with no down time between the forming of the chakra sphere and the changing of its nature. He was finally getting it down. He threw the ball away and performed the jutsu a few more times to be sure. It took him roughly 2.5 to 3 seconds to perform the handseals, then it took another 1.5 seconds to throw the ball meaning it would take him about 4-4.5 seconds to get the ball in the right direction, he took note of this in his head for future reference. He smiled because he knew he was extremely close to mastering it if not very close to mastering it.

Tekato created the ball of electricity in his hand again. He stared at the surging blue lights dance around chaotically. There was something not quite right about it. It was not quite complete. Tekato threw it at the rock where it made a high pitched sound and dissipated leaving a slightly blackened circle on the rock. Tekato closed his eyes and performed handseals then reach his arm outward with his palm face up, ready to create the ball of lightning. He concentrated on the chakra formation, and then almost simultaneously manipulated it into a ball and changed its nature using lightning release. He felt the numbing sparks of electricity hit his hand as he held the ball, for probably longer than he would normally. It felt right. He opened his eyes; it looked right. This ball was perfect, he had mastered the technique. He smiled despite the moderate pain the electricity was dealing on his hand. He was always happy when he saw his hard work was paying off and he could feel and see his results. While smiling he threw the ball at the rock, and hit right next to the blackened spot, leaving a similar spot, a few shades darker. Tekato was tired from using so much chakra from all of his training so he laid down and looked up at the clouds while he regained his strength. After resting he would go back home and probably get a bite to eat.

Fire Style: Fire Ball Technique

Description: The user performs the handseals, and then began to form a ball of fire within their hands. The ball cannot exceed two feet in diameter. The fireball is then thrown at the target. Upon impact, the fire may spread, but only if it hits something that is capable of sustaining fire on its surface.

Tekato walked into a field in konoha that Tekato often used to train. His team also met there fairly often. He could feel a cool breeze blowing his hair to his left. He spotted stab and slash marks from previous training sessions. He was going to teach himself the fireball technique. This was more powerful version of his fire bolt technique. He figured he would have to do the same thing as before except use more chakra, and have more control over the chakra, and then on top of it all use his fire release technique to control it. I recalled how the fire bolt technique worked. It formed a ball of chakra in his hand and he ignited it, the fire bolt was only a foot in diameter, while this new enhanced version of the technique, the fire ball technique, could reach a larger 2 feet in diameter.

Tekato put on a white cloth cloak over the rest of his body as a precaution against his clothes being set on fire. The cloak covered his entire body except his arms which were bare. If his cloak was set on fire he would be able to get it off easily and hopefully put I out and if not at least it would burn and not him. He made sure to take off his sword from his back and lay it on the ground so the cloak would go over him easier. He formed handseals and extended his arms forward and began forming a ball of fire in them about a foot in diameter. It was his fire bolt technique. He held it there for a second and took it in one hand and threw it at a rock. It let off a small burst and left a blackened spot on the rock. He did this to familiarize himself better with the basic concept of the technique.

He performed more handseals and stuck his arms out again. He focused on his palm which were not forming beads of sweat. He released chakra between his two palms and slowly extended them away center. As he did so he released more and more chakra and changed its nature to fire using his fire release technique. The chakra between his hands began to burn. He released more and more chakra and at the same time increased the output rate. He quickly began to spread apart his hands even faster to compensate and not burn his hand which was dangerously close to the fire made from his chakra. As he spread his hands apart further the firey ball’s heat intensified. He could feel it burn his hand and it disrupted his concentration and the fire dissipated into the air. He grunted as he clasped his un-burnt hand over the burnt spot and clenched the spot out of instinct. The act did nothing and may have even increased the pain even more. He grinded his teeth out of pain and got himself to forget about it and continue his training after a few seconds. It was the price of playing with fire and he understood that after learning his first fire jutsu, fire bolt. The rate at which the fire expanded past one foot would be dangerous because as it gets bigger it also becomes hotter. He needed a way of protecting his skin while using the technique. Surely if he formed the technique at a slower rate he could control it but in battle timing and speed are absolutely crucial. They can be the difference between life and death, and Tekato had a particularly well thought out opinion on that matter.

Chakra, it seemed to be the answer for everything, he needed to use more. In order to protect his hands he would make very small layer of chakra that could potentially resist the heat enough to act as a glove, and perhaps allow him just a little bit more resistance to the heat that he might not burn his hands. Tekato decided it was best to take things slow and really focus on the each and every little thing he needed to do, if he burned his hands too badly he would have to postpone training further than if he just trained at a slower rate.

Tekato extended forth his hands and curled them so that the area between them would create visually a sphere of empty space or air. He began to release chakra into the empty space and at the same time control it so that some of it would create a thin film of chakra to protect against the upcoming heat. He ignited that chakra which was mixed with the oxygen in the air and it began to shine as a spherical ball of flame. Tekato moved his hands outward from the center of the flaming globe and slowly increased the size and intensity of the fireball until it was about 2 feet in diameter. He threw his hands behind his head and tossed the fireball at a rock. After it hit it left a large circular black mark on the rock. Tekato recognized that what he had just done was do the technique slowly to understand exactly what he needed to do to successfully create a ball of fire that had a 2 foot diameter. He knew he was getting there because it did not burn his hands as it became hotter and he was able to throw it successfully. It was still however in a premature stage as he was not able to make it very quickly. He would have to focus on speed and concentration, as well as just sheer practice till he got the technique down to muscle memory. Tekato drilled the technique down, doing it slowly but increasing the rate each time he did it just a little bit each time. He made sure he performed the technique at a level that was just a little bit out of his comfort zone each time so he could learn and grow from each attempt.

At the end of the day he had nearly exhausted his chakra and was breathing extremely heavily, the sun was beginning to set and his vision was becoming blurred from exhaustion. It was time to get some rest. He picked up his shirt, white cloak, and sword. The white cloak was too hot and to protect his shirt he decided to take that off as well so he could remain cool and perhaps only slightly burn his skin. He felt fairly confident enough that he wouldn’t let it back fire on him. After re-clothing himself he began making the walk back to his apartment for some well-deserved rest.

Tekato opened his eyes as an annoying ringing sound entered his brain. He had no idea what it was, and then realized just as he often did every morning that it was the alarm he set to wake up in the morning. It was time to train. It was 5:30 in the morning. He woke up almost every morning at this time. His father told him that any man who will go anywhere in life, wakes up before six. Ever since he heard those words he got up at 5:30.

Tekato yawned and stretched his arms. He was still waking up but he felt exceptionally refreshed after such a tough day of training. He got up and got dressed. As he began to walk out the door he used his hand to try to get some of the cow licks down from when he was sleeping but didn’t care enough to fix it, after all his hair was naturally unruly so even if he took the time to water them down it would end up spiking out in odd directions on its own anyway.

He made his way to the training field, it still dark, but if he looked over the horizon he could see the sun would come up soon. He walked up the tree using his tree climbing technique and sat down on the tree branch that protruded northward so when he sat on it he could face east. It was the best place to see the sunrise in the morning. He sat cross legged on the moderate sized tree branch and closed his eyes. He then proceeded to try his best to think about as little as possible until it was as close to thinking about nothing as he could. He let himself meditate for about 30 minutes until the sun had completely risen over the horizon.

The meditation cleared his mind so he could concentrate better, this was one of the rituals he developed when he was training in Gyakusatsu with his father. They would always meditate together before training. Tekato hopped down from the tree and stood 10 meters from the rock he usually used as his target for explosive and dangerous jutsu, especially fire jutsu which if used on a tree could have unfortunate results. It was obvious that fire jutsu was used on this rock since the grass surrounding it was dead and blackened and the rock itself was a very dark shade of gray.

Tekato recalled his training from the day before. He remembered the general ideas behind how he dispersed and controlled his chakra then igniting it into a flaming ball. He would increase the size further by putting more chakra into the flame and increasing its size and energy. He immediately remembered when he almost burned his hands when he increased the size and intensity of the fire. He had to use a thin layer of chakra around the ball where his hands were so it wouldn’t burn him in the process of making it.
After he internalized the ideas better in his mind it was now time to put them into practice. Tekato stuck out his hands in front of him and concentrated on what he needed to do and visualized he wanted it to look. He began releasing chakra through the palm of both his hands and concentrated the chakra into a ball. The chakra mixed in with the air and he ignited it into a ball of fire about a half foot in diameter. He moved his hands outward and released more fire natured chakra into the ball and at the same time made it expand and cause its heat to intensify. He was sure to use a bit of chakra to protect his hands from being burned by the fire.

The night’s sleep seemed to be very effective in retaining what he learned the previous day because he felt that the process was much easier than before an was able to do it quicker. His muscle memory was beginning to approach the consistency he was looking for, now all that was left was to practice more. For an hour Tekato repeated the technique over and over again until he felt like he was getting the speed in forming the technique. He was beginning to reach where he wanted.

Tekato was beginning to get exhausted all ready because he was using the technique more and more frequently thus taking a greater toll on his chakra pool. He took a quick breather to get his chakra back. He began performing the handseals for the technique. He formed the fiery ball between his hands and raised the flames above his head and hurled the ball toward the black rock in the field. It hit spot on and left a spot a few shades darker than the rock. Tekato smiled at his ease of action. He was really beginning to get it down. He barely needed to think about it, he just did it. He was coming relatively close to mastery but still had a ways to go.

Now it was time for drilling. Tekato proceeded to perform the technique as perfectly as he could over and over again until he felt like it was getting to be second nature to him. He rested for about a half hour in meditation, then walked 20 meters from the rock and used it as a target for practice. Eventually when he was getting his aim down consistently he bumped the distance up to 30 meters. This time it was taking much longer to get the consistency, but he eventually got there. His target for mastery was 50 meters away, which seemed fairly far fetched since it took him a while to hit the target reliably from 30 meters. He bumped the distance up to 40 meters away and continued barraging the rock with the fireball technique. The grass around the rock was all burnt and dead in a 3 meter diameter around the rock because of the variable in his accuracy, especially when he bumped the distance up. After an even longer amount of time he got his accuracy and precision to be just as good at 40 meters as it was at 30 meters. He walked another 10 meters away from the rock. It seemed so small from where he was now. It was the size of a rock that he might pick up and throw 50 meters, not try to hit from fifty meters. None the less he didn’t let the idea bring down his determination. He worked for an hour with a 5 minute meditation break in between but he eventually was able to hit the rock from 50 meters away as well as he could have from 10 meters away. He smiled, his efforts were paying off. Tekato gathered up his things, which was just his sword and his butt bag this time, and headed back home to take a nap. He felt truly drained from his long day of training.
