It didn't take long after his B-ranked mission that Ryo decided to go right back onto his training exercises. He was in the middle of that oh-so lonely desert once again, his gourd fixed firmly onto his back, the straps tied around his stomach. The manipulator wasn't using sand just yet, but wind. He had trained in both of them, picking sand because he was fascinated by it, and picking wind because he knew he needed its offensive capabilities. And today he was going to master a low-level technique, but, like every technique, it could have its uses in combat or just in a regular mission.
The Yakuta kid put his gourd down and remembered everything he possibly could about the technique. He quickly performed the seals and said them aloud to himself: "Tiger! Rat! Ram! Dragon!" And, directly after saying the last syllable on 'Dragon,' Ryo extended both of his arms. He knew he only needed to extend one arm, but if you put out both then you could confuse your opponent that much more. From his right palm was where the attack was really going to come from since it was just more comfortable for him. A very small puff of air went forward a few inches. He could tell that it was spinning because of the disturbance in the air, but it didn't last long.
"Damn it..." Ryo muttered to himself, knowing that this would take much more practice before it would be mastered. He remembered the handseals now and thought if he took it much slower he might be able to execute the actual technique better. He slowly put his hands together and did them, repeating the seals like he had done before. "Tiger... Rat... Ram... Dragon!" He did each one very accurately and deliberately, focusing his chakra with every inch of power he had within him. He slowly extended both of his arms...
And a more forceful blast of air came out of Ryo's right hand, but it was wild, not precise at all. It would forward, spinning slightly, and dissipated after about a foot. "Better than before," Ryo said with a slight shrug of his shoulders, trying to think of where he went wrong. He had done everything slowly and thought about it, but it was still not coming out right. A frown spread across his face as he thought maybe he was thinking about it too much. But was it even possible to over-focus on something? He shrugged to himself again and thought just to practice it again.
No words came out of Ryo's mouth when he performed the handseals this time. He did them with a moderate speed and extended both of his arms, this time deciding he would do it from the left hand. A gust of wind (not much though) came out of his hand and started spinning. It went forward, slicing and cutting through the air with decent power, and disappeared a few inches later. A smirk was all that remained now on the Yakuta boy's face. "Much better..."
But it would still need more perfection before Ryo was going to use it in combat. He decided he would do it at least once more before giving it up completely. He had other techniques he needed to learn, but this one would come first in his book. Ryo decided to be a bit more careless and hasty in what he did this time, wanting it to flow through him at his own speed. His fingers and hands obeyed, but went pretty fast. He then extended only his right hand, putting all of his energy into the wind that was going to emit from it. A blast of wind exited the center of his palm, spinning like a vortex through the air before it stopped six or seven inches later.
"HAHA! Perfect!"
